Jared Polis' Success Shows That Democrats Can Win Without Embracing Big Government
Jared Polis cruised to reelection this Tuesday on a platform that included reducing the state's income tax and giving "more freedom" to Coloradans.

Colorado has resoundingly voted to reelect Governor Jared Polis—a Democrat with strong libertarian leanings and a proven track record in supporting issues from school choice to eliminating the state's income tax.
Jared Polis—once called "the most libertarian governor in America" by Reason's Nick Gillespie—was reelected by Colorado voters by a wide margin, maintaining a 16-point lead on his Republican opponent as of Thursday morning. Polis' decisive victory indicates the broad popularity of Polis' left-libertarian leanings, in a time when many Democrats are increasingly calling for increased state power to solve political problems. Polis' embrace of policies that seeks to give "more freedom" to Coloradans shows that a turn away from authoritarianism may be a bankable strategy among the left.
Jared Polis was first elected Colorado Governor in 2018, after serving five terms representing Colorado's 2nd district in Congress, where he was the only Democratic member of the Liberty Caucus. Since 2018, Polis has remained highly popular in Colorado, with polices like universal kindergarten and early loosening of COVID-19 restrictions receiving particular support among constituents. Polis has also voiced strong support for lessening or entirely removing the state's income tax, telling one audience in 2021 that the Colorado state income tax "should be zero."
While Colorado was once considered a solid swing state, Polis' continued success as governor, as well as the state's other electoral outcomes, have entrenched the state's Democratic leanings. However, Polis' popularity shows that Democrats can receive solid victories without relying on the increasing technocratic impulses of the party as a whole. While other Democrats—and increasingly Republicans as well—turn to government to solve problems, Polis has found success by wanting to reduce government power.
"The fact is we did something simple," Polis said during his victory speech on Tuesday night. "We focused on issues that really affect people's lives and we delivered real results. We focused on lowering costs and more freedom. We led with rational data-driven COVID policies that supported personal freedom and responsibility and resulted in Colorado having the ninth-lowest COVID death rate in the entire nation."
Polis stands out from many other Democratic politicians—but it's a strategy that's only made him more popular. While other Democratic governors were enacting strict COVID-19 regulations, Polis lifted mask mandates. While other Democrats scoffed at school choice, Polis, the founded of two charter schools, praised polices that increase educational choice. While other Democrats called for wealth taxes, Polis called on an end to Colorado's income tax.
"I respect freedom," Polis told Reason in July 2022. "It's great because you're free to be the way you want. That's the way it should be."
While the Democratic party—not to mention American politics as a whole—is trending towards embracing government control, Jared Polis offers a rare story of a politician that wants to reduce state power. His success offers evidence that an alternative approach, one where Democrats embrace rather than attack personal liberty, can be a wildly successful strategy.

I'm gonna have to make some popcorn.
I'm too tired to post all the big government positions of Polis yet again. It is like Reason can't do any level of research.
Fuck it.
Covid eviction moratorium.
https://www.cpr.org/2020/10/21/polis-executive-order-puts-another-hold-on-many-colorado-evictions/
Stricter gun regulations.
Green energy regulations.
Polis signed a bill to require updated municipal building codes that have added up to $70,000 to the cost of new homes in towns where they have been implemented.
New restrictions on energy drilling, mainly to protect his vacation home.
When a neighbor put up a fracking well, Polis bankrolled a statewide initiative imposing a 2,000-ft. setback for new drilling.
And when voters objected to the above.
And when voters decisively rejected that initiative at the polls, he worked with the legislature to pass similar legislation, anyway.

Reason has a hard on for fake libertarians.
But he’s great on weed ass sex and Mexicans.
In that order?
Great article, Mike. I appreciate your work, i’m now creating over $35000 dollars each month simply (ins-03) by doing a simple job online! i do know You currently making a lot of greenbacks online from $28000 dollars, its simple online operating jobs.

What's this thing about Polis and anal sex? It sounds like a typical right-wing smear tactic, something they've construed from something actually reasonable. What did he do? Did he mention in passing somewhere that it shouldn't be against the law?
You new around here? Go back and read the past 3 years of Reason comments.
He's another Shrike fap sock.
Unless the Mexicans go to Colorado. Then he will shit his pants
Those are the only issues on Americans minds
His 2019 campaign was pure big government.
Gov. Polis was sworn into office in January 2019, and during his campaign, he promised that if elected, he’d focus on four key issues:
Foster an economy that works for everyone. Move to renewable resources and protect the environment. Save Coloradans money on healthcare. Fulfill every child’s potential regardless of their ZIP code.
This included an end to fossil fuels.
2019, Gov. Polis released his “Roadmap to 100% Renewable Energy by 2040 and Bold Climate Action” report,
Made health insurance more expensive.
Democrats successfully passed, and Gov. Polis signed into law, HB 21-1068, which requires insurance to cover yearly mental health exams, and HB 21-1232, which requires insurers, hospitals and health care providers to reduce premiums by 15 percent by 2025.
New taxes.
Gov. Polis signed into law a number of new bills that add up to $2.1 billion in new taxes and fees

He is a mainline Democrat.
I love how Polis has no real negatives to the idiots who write for Reason. He's their dreamy governor.
That is because Reason's idea of liberty is simply government delivering their preferred policy positions.
It's soft statism.
But Desantis et Al are “Will to Power”, whatever the fuck that means

Oh Emma. You really fit in well here at Vox Light, aka Reason.
What about Teen Reason?
Not enough stories about anal sex so they had the moniker removed. That and some of the staff complained that teens were too old for them.
Buttplug's on staff? That would explain the unbanning.

And there you are with that nonsense about pedophiles. Are your forgetting about Matt Gaetz?
No one is forcing you to read or comment on Reason articles.

You can't ever say anything good about a Democrat, you should know that.
Like when Bill Clinton produced a federal surplus in 1999 - you have to deny it because the sacred Republican Party has been so awful on deficits and debt.
And Donald "The King of Debt" and his awful fiscal record MUST be defended at all costs.
Blame anyone else. Just blame SOMEONE else. The GOP is sacred and abortion is baby killing. And Bill Clinton is a baby killer.
A few years back SPB posted kiddy porn to this site, and his initial handle was banned. The link below details all the evidence surrounding that ban. A decent person would honor that ban and stay away from Reason. Instead SPB keeps showing up, acting as if all people should just be ok with a kiddy-porn-posting asshole hanging around. Since I cannot get him to stay away, the only thing I can do is post this boilerplate, and link to the evidence of his wrongdoing.

Notice how the drunken faggot bitch slinks away and doesn't respond after he's been fucking owned? And he'll be back tomorrow insisting it never happened and everyone who says it did is lying.
sarcasmic has always been one of the dimmest bulbs posting here, but I have to be honest, I never thought he'd end up becoming friends with shreek the pedophile and running interference for him.
He would team up with Hitler if Hitler gave him an attaboy. He has no principles.
Kiddy porn? Really? I followed that link and all I found was a very pointed post by SPB.
He was banned for it, and all of his posts wiped off the site due to that.
And do you know why Bill Clinton had a surplus in 1999? I'll give your little brain a hint, Buttplug, it was an election that happened in November 1994. You might remember the "Contract with America" that brought in Republican control of the House, where spending bills are supposed to originate.
If you pulled your buttplug of a head out of your ass long enough, you might be able to Google it.
Oh bullshit.
It was the Omnibus budget Act of 1993. The one that Republicans said would destroy the economy and not one voted for.
The feckless Balanced Budget bill had no teeth - look at the deficit explosion with the Bushpigs.
The Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1993 (or OBRA-93) was a federal law that was enacted by the 103rd United States Congress and signed into law by President Bill Clinton. It has also been unofficially referred to as the Deficit Reduction Act of 1993. Part XIII of the law is also called the Revenue Reconciliation Act of 1993.
The bill stemmed from a budget proposal made by Clinton in February 1993; he sought a mix of tax increases and spending reductions that would cut the deficit in half by 1997. Though every congressional Republican voted against the bill, it passed by narrow margins in both the House of Representatives and the Senate. The act increased the top federal income tax rate from 31% to 39.6%, increased the corporate income tax rate, raised fuel taxes, and raised various other taxes. The bill also included $255 billion in spending cuts over a five-year period. The effects of the bill helped the US federal government to experience in 1998 its first budget surplus since the 1960s era.
Here you go. You goddamn fool. Now leave me alone.
edit (I didn't say it was libertarian. I just said it produced a surplus with that great economy)
You really know how to stir these people up. Your posts are just about the only ones that aren't filled with snarky, nasty bullshit, and they absolutely hate you for it. They're actually accusing you of posting kiddy porn, an accusation I find entertainingly absurd.

It's too fucking obvious. So we have Alric the Blueballs and SoCkSoCkPeDo as Shrike socks.

Also completely ending any oversight on auditing of businesses helped some, too.
Enron's fraud occurred under Clinton. It came to light in 2001 --- but it had gone on for years.
All under Clinton.
The surplus was a fiction. An accounting gimmick. Shrike is too fucking stupid to go look and see if the debt reduced in any year.
He’s also a liar, so he might know.
It was also artificial due to excess investment profits during dot com a d quickly crashed the year after.
Plus he never had a surplus. Debt went up every year.
You will note that not only was there an on-budget surplus, but debt held by the public declined from 1998 to 2000
https://www.cbo.gov/sites/default/files/113th-congress-2013-2014/reports/45010-breakout-appendixh.pdf
Yes. We know your democrat talking point. Now look at the total debt shrike. Ignorant fuck.
I expect 100k, I budget 100k. I spend 90k. But only take in 85k. Debt goes up 5k. You claim budget surplus!!
Youre an ignorant leftist shrike.
Debt went up every year under Clinton.
And it still ignores that the budget originated in the House.
Nice of you to out this sock yet again. I like how you periodically start using the cockney slang again whenever I call you out on it even though you reverted to your shreek tics within a day of starting this sock.
So basically, there are only about a dozen different people on this Forum, and everyone else is a sockpuppet of either "Shrike" or one of his accusers.
Allegedly.
Plus he only spent 2 trillion per year. Biden is blowing through 6.
Recall that it was the Clinton White House that fought Republicans every inch of the way in balancing the budget in 1995. When Republicans proposed their own balanced‐budget plan, the White House waged a shameless Mediscare campaign to torpedo the plan — a campaign that the Washington Post slammed as “pure demagoguery.” It was Bill Clinton who, during the big budget fight in 1995, had to submit not one, not two, but five budgets until he begrudgingly matched the GOP’s balanced‐budget plan. In fact, during the height of the budget wars in the summer of 1995, the Clinton administration admitted that “balancing the budget is not one of our top priorities.” This taken from Libertarian Cato institute.
A budget surplus because of gridlock, you dingbat.
"Like when Bill Clinton produced a federal surplus in 1999"
Weird how the debt went up that year.
I mean, with a surplus, that would be impossible, right?
...but it went up.
Weird.
Yes, the Republicans forced him to cut spending or lose his Presidency. And he went along with it, much to his credit.
...but a surplus? Seriously? Look at annual national debt numbers and notice they literally never go down. Not even in 1999 or 2000.
So the Democratic party is only “trending towards embracing government control?”. Wow. That may be the most amazing statement I have ever seen in a Reason article.
Kinda like saying the nazi's were only trending toward genocide.
It's not like they killed all the Jews and Gypsies. There's still some alive, so it was just a trend.

It is breach of contract if you don't pay your prostitute after you find out they have a penis.
What if they also run a food truck and are an illegal immigrant?
Then you get $100k per month from the state

Jared Polis' Success Shows That Democrats Can Win if they act like a Republican
Yeah basically.
Here in California hinterland (home of such awful people as McCarthy and Nunes), Democrats win by pretending to be Republicans. And a few are actually decent. Likewise, Republicans can in in Blue states by pretending to be Democrats.
It's old fashioned Duverger's Law at the local level. Divide the vote equally between the duopoly. If one sides gets too much the other side shifts closer to them. Even in a multiparty system (fat chance of that here) you still end up with two modal points, because all of politics is an either-or game.
Emma, Emma, Emma. The only "libertarian" things Polis does would be weed, buttsex, magic mushrooms, and sex work. Nowhere does he do anything about reducing the size of government, reducing the budget of government, or leaving people the hell alone - real libertarian ideas.
Excellent satire!
Haven't seen this sock in a while shreek. Really needing some extra validation this week?
He's running five tonight in this thread alone.
You're still hung up on the buttsex I see.
You do realize that part of it is a joke/meme. I did not invent it, and I do not claim to have invented it. I merely claim to have stolen it.
Calm down. I think Brandyshit was about to ask you out.
Don't forget abortion up until the moment of birth.
It is a fairly big deal to find a politician anywhere outside of the libertarian party that publicly apposes the consensus amongst both democrat and republican politicians against weed, magic mushrooms, and sex work. Sure, weed has been legalized in half the states, but almost always by initiative (direct popular vote) rather than by the legislature. There’s still a substantial majority in Congress for keeping marijuana illegal – that includes most of the Republicans and too many of the Democrats either unaware of what their constituents want, or unwilling to reduce government power in the slightest way lest it reduce their own power.
The consensus against butt sex that existed 20 or 30 years ago when most Congressman began their career has pretty much faded away, so much that even many Republican politicians have removed it from their public positions, but at least 95% of major party politicians are still all in for throwing people in jail for magic mushrooms and charging for what’s legal to give away. Polis may no longer be part of that 95%.
But in everything else, he's the same power-mad gun-grabbing over-regulating taxing-and-spending socialist-lite as the rest of the Democratic party (excepting the outright socialists).
What's Jared Polis' position on the size and scope of Colorado's welfare state?
"Too small".
Trump's 'MyPillow-ization of the GOP': In their cutting midterms post-mortem, Republican strategists call Don a 'huge loser' for putting his 'selfish priorities' over the party and blames his 'underperforming' candidates for costing them
'Trump came out as a huge loser yesterday. His endorsed House and Senate candidates consistently underperformed all over,' Jim Dornan said

Just a bit of antidote to the proglotarian Kool-Aid being dished out here:
https://denvergazette.com/opinion/columns/column-again-jared-polis-is-no-libertarian/article_6f44111f-be85-59ca-a5b7-34ce979b84dc.html
From the article, a good summary of his "not big government" actions:
"A guy who outlaws selling dogs in pet stores, who dictates what container you can use to bring your food home from the restaurant, who taxes your Uber ride, wants to outlaw your gas kitchen stove and water heater, who crushes the oil and gas, ranching and ag industries, who signs on to California’s nutty emission standards, who raised taxes by billions without voter approval by calling them “fees,” whose appointees want to force private employers to keep databases on how their employees commute and punish them if they drive a car, who raised gas taxes, who is allowing local government workers to unionize, well, is not a guy who wants to leave you alone."
Yeah, that was a nice list of obviously un-libertarian actions.
I also liked the part where the author pointed out that the only 'tax-lowering' that happened under his watch was the direct result of voter referendums, and not any action Polis himself undertook or advocated.
But if you ignore all that, it's fair to say he's exactly like Ludwig von Mises.
And they forgot to mention he advanced the Colorado taxpayer funded welfare state to the entire third world. You know, that little twiddly-bit of a small government, just-leaving-you-alone narrative wrench in the works.
Where are dogs supposed to be sold?
At Whole Foods, like God intended.
Korean foods section?
/OK, I was going to Hell long before this so don't worry.
Sounds like Newsome with less hair gel.
The best part about the article you've linked is that is specifically calls out The Jacket for fluffing Polis when Polis is not 'libertarian' of any stripe, he's merely the best we can probably hope for in a state that's being overrun by Californians.
One can vote pragmatically, but Polis is not as great as his fluffers make him out to be.
Reason magazine is a flagship libertarian magazine. Their Nick Gillespie, a friend and occasional drinking partner of mine, should have known better when he did a pattycake interview with Polis. But libertarians are desperate to believe a politician who can talk their talk.
For how long, one wonders.
Speaking of pattycake interviews, that puts me in mind of Robby Soave's pattycake interview of Anthony Fauci.
Moments lost...
And then it came out that Fauci specifically chose Robby over the other presenter because he knew Robby would softball him.
And Robby's supposed to be the tough one here.
When Anthony fucking Fauci requests the Reason.com guy to interview him, you know you're not getting a serious pro-liberty guy asking you questions.

Sure, Polis likes legal pot and now allows you to pay his massive, massive tax increases with Bitcoin. But don’t libertarians want more than dope and crypto?
Maybe real personal and economic liberty?
In this interview Polis said, “we’ve cut the income tax twice since I’ve been in office.”
So, he’s a liar too. Polis didn’t cut the income tax even once. Voters of Colorado did by voting for my citizen’s initiative in 2020, Prop 116, which permanently lowered the state income tax to 4.55%.
Polis could have done that legislatively. But he didn’t. And he didn’t campaign for my tax cut. But he did take credit.
The “second” income tax cut he’s talking about simply isn’t one. It’s not permanent and it doesn’t save taxpayers any money. This “cut” is paid for by lowering your TABOR refunds. It isn’t any more money in your pocket.
Polis went on to fib again saying, “we also cut property taxes for two years.” Again, he’s taking credit for giving you a temporary property tax cut instead of writing you a larger refund check.
Polis said his preferred state income tax rate is zero. But what he didn’t mention in his Reason magazine pillow talk was the new law he signed making future tax cut initiatives (like mine) near impossible to pass. It forces compelled language on the ballot to lie to voters, scaring them that voting for the cut will destroy healthcare and education.
Polis lied saying, “I support the Second Amendment.” He signed a faulty red-flag bill denying gunowners due process before being dis-armed, but that wasn’t his real gun control.
By signing the bill to end the state’s longstanding gun preemption on local anti-gun ordinances Polis opened the floodgates to gun grabs all over Colorado.
Denver has already limited concealed carry. I’ll soon be an outlaw for owning certain mean-looking guns and magazines in Boulder.
Polis’ Pontius Pilot fashion of washing his hands of his socialist decisions is too cute by half. He is the only reason gun rights are under attack throughout Colorado. Some libertarian.
He did the same to the libertarian value of consensual relationships. Minimum wage laws keep willing people from having relationships of their own choosing.
By letting municipalities raise, but not lower, the minimum wage, Polis is not only hurting small businesses but keeping apart free people who want to be together.
Same for smoking and vaping. He empowered local governments to raise, not lower, tax and even altogether ban tobacco and vaping products. Nanny towns across Colorado were quick to impose their new prohibitions, just like any libertarian wants.
In this interview Polis says, “I respect freedom.” Who knows? Maybe he does. But he certainly doesn’t defend it.
Regretfully, Polis is the most destructive governor in Colorado’s history when it comes to personal and economic freedom."
Good summary.

Brutal take down.
Yeah, Polis is riding high with Colofornians, who are dabbling in a bit of centrist political posturing (but are still terrified of being mistaken for a conservative). And he certainly fits the New Democratic profile, i.e. stinking rich, checks at least one oppression group box, and talks about a curated tech-based utopian future.
But something, something EV mandate...
Polis is a good politician...as in making sure he comes out on the side that will get him re-elected.
Some observations over the past few years.
-He was against an amendment that would practically ban oil drilling in over 90% of the state pissing off enviro-whackos
-He lifted mask requirements earlier than most Dem governers and left a lot up to local authorities (to show their true dictatorial colors)
-He had TABOR refund checks to taxpayers cut early (before the election) that were going to come out in early 2023
He sees which way the political winds are blowing and sways with it to keep himself in power.
He's just about the only prominent democrat who isn't an outright communist. Kind of amazing.
He hides it better.
He just isn't bragging about it like the others. Pay attention to his actions, not his words.

And that’s presented as a good thing here, yet when Republican governors overrode local mask mandates, that was couched by HyR bloggers as reducing freedom…of locals to impose mandates on their neighbors, which I guess is some kinda freedom.
Not much substance here on how Polis promotes freedom. Yeah, wants to cut taxes. Achieves more school choice, but meanwhile commits the state to a universal pre-kindergarten. How is he at negotiating budgets down? Pardons for victimless offenders?
Read the Denver Gazette article posted above. It's a doosey.
I like the hypothesis there that The Jacket was desperate to find libertarians in government. But that doesn't explain why he's searching in all the wrong places: the Democratic Party.
If you're a 90s, center left, come-to-america-set-up-your-tent-if-you-don't-have-a-tent-one-will-be-provided-for-you style libertarian, where else are you going to look?
Polis's only positive is that he's not quite as retarded as his fellow party members in the LOLweeeeeddooooood state, and that's damning with faint praise.
Dude...
Criticism of Republicans is support for Democrats.
Criticism of both sides is criticism of Republicans and support for Democrats.
Criticism of Democrats without praise for Republicans is support for Democrats.
Support for Republicans without condemnation of Democrats is support for Democrats.
"OMG, people are legitimately criticizing a Democrat in the comments again. I have to stop them! Boaf sides, everybody!!! Boaf sides!!"
Found an example of muting me muting another handle? No? Gonna apologize yet? HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA HA HA HA HA HA HA HAAAAA I'm out of breath too funny!
Youre asking for cites when you never provide a single one?
The burden of proof is on the accuser.
Again. You never provide a cite for your accusations. You ask others to do for you. And you even attack posters for posting your past statements.
Youre a hypocrite.
You are retarded. That's all I can say. I'm sorry if that offends your parents.
Thats all you can say because you aren't intelligent.
Dude, you’re comical! I say you’re switching the burden of proof from the accuser to the accused, and what do you do? You demand proof from the accused!
I’m starting to think you’re a parody account.
Edit: You're not retarded. You're a lib trying to make conservatives look bad! It all makes sense!
I'm not asking you to switch the proof retard. I'm asking you why you're a hypocrite.
What is your reading comprehension level.
All I'm asking is for one, single, solitary example of muting this me and it causing posts by another name to not stay the same.

You never tell the truth nor back up your accusations. Who the fuck are you to demand others to do so?

About the only thing I miss about working in restaurants was access to drugs. There’s always a dishwasher slinging weed and a waiter with nose candy.
Guess you found a new dishwasher.
He did tell the truth. And you ran away like a pathetic little cowardly faggot bitch like you always do. Just like you did when you got shitfaced and challenged me to a fight and then pissed your pants like a pathetic little faggot and bitched out when I agreed to fly to any city in the USA of your choosing to beat the fuck out of you. Because you're a pathetic piece of shit who runs your lying faggot ass mouth and can't back it up. Name the place, cunt, I'm still game.

Imagine how sad your life has to be to spend 16 hours a day playing rodeo clown for Nick Gillespie and Elizabeth Nolan Brown to deflect criticism of radical left wing Marxists.
Newsletter?
Still broken. Still a strawman. Funny you ignore all the factual criticism above. But we know you can never criticize a Democrat.
Dude….
so he's a Reagan (R)
It's not embracing big government when polis is big government. I wonder when the correction based on the Denver Gazette will appear in reasonmag. Or if the same tired lies will continue ,as w/ every other issue that the staff latches on to and refuses to abandon when proven wrong.
If he lowers taxes and is "reducing government power" Is he really a democrat?
Can we PUHLEEZE stop with this "Jared is a libertarian" nonsense? It's just not true even if he's less of a tyrant in some areas than other Dem govs are. To his strong credit, he was more about personal responsibility during COVID than most other Dems. And he's good about not making kids get a business license for a lemonade stand.
But Jared is for socialized medicine and every radical environmentalist proposal (inc eliminating fossil fuels.) Yes, he says he's for getting rid of the state income tax (which I support) but he is NOT for reducing total state revenue. He just wants to implement taxes that he'll call fees and pretend that he's a tax cutter.
No Dem talks a better libertarian game than Jared. And again in some ways he is more libertarian than other Dem governors. But being less statist than an extreme statist doesn't make someone a libertarian.
The same magazine that calls Blake Masters big government calls Polis small government. I can't even begin what they think big government is.
Pop quiz: who was more libertarian? Fidel Castro or Pol Pot?
Castro. Pol Pot traveled to North Korea to seek medical attention
"The fact is we did something simple," Polis said during his victory speech on Tuesday night. "We focused on issues that really affect people's lives..."
“Sincerity - if you can fake that, you've got it made.”
― George Burns
Protect LGBT families from illegal immigrant deportation. (Sep 201)
Voted for TARP in 2009 and every billion trillion dollar government hand out since.
Increase funding by roughly $12-13 thousand per classroom. (Jan 2022)
Require labeling genetically engineered food. (Apr 2013)
Six weeks of paid parental leave for federal employees. (Jan 2015)
No photo IDs to vote; they suppress the vote. (Jun 2014)
Ban military-style weapons; plus CDC studies gun violence. (Mar 2018)
the list goes on and on
And he's the most Libertarian? He makes AOC sound like Mrs. William F. Buckley.
"I respect freedom," Polis told Reason in July 2022. "It's great because you're free to be the way you want. That's the way it should be."
Yeah, free to smoke pot and get an abortion. That's about it.
Stop dragging our hearts around, Reason. If Polis were actually libertarian he'd BE one.
If Polis was a Republican he'd be one of the WORST....
It's all a matter of expectant perspective.
But since he's part of the Nazi(National Socialist)-Team in that perspective; WOW! what a great Nazi... 🙂
Hey Mother. I’m gonna be shitting on every post of yours until you put up or apologize.
And since you can’t put up what doesn’t exist…
But he isnt a troll folks.
Remember when sarc said he criticized democrats. Yet here is another thread critical of democrats he is threadshitting instead.

Except that I’m not supporting or ignoring the other. People like you just glaze over posts where I’m critical of Dems because it doesn’t fit your cognitive biases.
And still waiting for an actual critical post of his to prove his assertion.

Funny how he did though, and you slunk away like a pathetic little faggot bitch. Just like you did when you challenged me a fight and then bitched out when I agreed to fly to any city in America of your choosing and kick the dog shit out of you. Close your bitch mouth, the stench of cum is offputting.
Imagine believing that a politician can give a person freedom.
In California the voters prefer politicians who promise to take away personal freedom.
He won Douglas County (just barely) and only lost by 2% in El Paso County. That while holding both Denver and Boulder Counties by about a 60% differential each.
He’ll never win in the sticks, but he obviously found the recipe for Democrats in deep-red suburbs and exburbs.
So Ms. Camp reads Gillespie's love fest article, regurgitates Polis self congratulatory campaign talking points and calls it journalism. That's a bold strategy Emma.
Massive government is the core principle of the Democratic platform.
As Thomas Sowell said, Democrats vote for symbolism and Polis being homosexual and new resident voters from other states he was a shoo-in. Being a millionaire did not hurt him either. Colorado is no longer a state I want live in or near.
As for "freedom" he has put the clamps on firearm ownership and ushered in red flag laws which are a violation of 4th Amendment Rights. "Freedom" my ass (a phrase he might like). His prior elected office was Boulder, better known as The People's Republic of Boulder.
Polis has ignored my attempts to contact him about his corrupt State Patrol which I have proof of and an eye witness. It cost my wife her job and much anxiety, then came the virus and my wife was then "non-essential". We fought to stay in our rental house of 27 years but lost. Polis is a creepy bastard SOB. The author and Reason.com can kiss my ass or Polis' ass but not both. You have hit me where I live so-to-speak and I am not even close to "amused" but livid with the heights of stupidity and perversion America has been embracing.
We are ruled at gunpoint.
Reason's favorite governor, for some reason.
Duh. Who else represents a person and state that prioritize Reason's core political ideals: weed, ass-sex, and unrestricted immigration?
It is mind boggling how much they hate Josh Hawley and Trump and critique DeSantis, and fall all over this clown who is worse than all 3
I hope this is satire
Yeah, they meant he is a “Will to Power” Democrat, who we really should be terrified of.
The libertarian case for “universal kindergarten”. WTF is “left libertarianism”? When you think people should be free so long as it doesn’t involve anything economic? That should just be called cognitive dissonance.
“Jared Polis’ Success Shows That Democrats Can Win Without Embracing Big Government”
I guess this is true if we only look at income tax reduction and the repeal of some COVID restrictions.
“Jared Polis—once called “the most libertarian governor in America” by Reason’s Nick Gillespie”
Nick Gillespie was obviously very high that day. Also claiming that Polis is not relying on the increasing technocratic impulses of his party while, at the same time, mentioning his support for universal pre-K is an impressive example of cognitive dissonance.
There used to be a time when a Democrat had to do something actually interesting to get the “libertarian-leaning” tag from reason writers. Opposing/Voting against: NSA surveillance, bank bailouts, subsidies to big pharma and corn, Real ID, gun control, war, etc. Now apparently all a Democrat has to do is be a “little better” than their counterparts in California.
There’s no such thing as left libertarianism. There are people waking up to the reality that running on freedom can help you win votes, but nobody interested in reducing the size and scope of government is registering as a democrat. The whole point of what makes a democrat a democrat is the idea government is the solution to problems. While democrats don't like connecting the dots in their campaigns, the "problems" they have identified are the consequences of free choices. In other words, they are the antithesis of freedom.
Funny to me that the headline above this story on Reason.com was “Pay attention to policy, not narratives”. I’d strongly suggest Emma read that piece first and then rework this ode to Gov. Polis.
As a 25 year resident of Colorado I’ll never understand the fawning over this governor that Reason gives him
So disappointed in Reason.com's constant fawning over Jared Polis' supposed 'Libertarian' leanings... prediction- NO WAY IN HELL Colorado's tax rate will go to zero any time soon... Sure, a 15 basis point decrease in the state income tax rate is great (Just received by Prop 121...) but that had NOTHING to do with Polis, it was presented and exectuted by his OPPONENTS (the independance institute...), Polis just nodded his head in ageement because it's ok to do that (LIE...) as a liberal... His proposed and passed legislation on FEES in Colorado over the past few years would not shine well in front of Libertarians whatsoever so i'd recommend reason.com do more goddamn homework before passing this jaggoff off as the next great Libertarian Jesus... He screams things that are supposedly libertarian leaning, but he has done *NOTHING* but cowtow to the left as far as taxes go- Reason.com- Check your boys record- Look up TABOR (Colorado's governing tax legislation that caps tax increases..) and how Gov Polis response has been.... How many "FEE INCREASES" have been pushed in CO in the past few years because tax increases are impossible in the state??? That's what he has done- "...TAX INCREASE impossible?? Call it a fee instead, and pass that bioyotch..." -That's literally Jared Polis' response to everythign, revenue oriented... Polis is about as centrist as AOC in real life, he just does a bang up job acting like it, and he has the 2022 version of 'street cred' to back it up (Umm, He is gay, sooo... can't say anything bad about him because he is sooooo brave AND... If you oppose him YOU'RE A HOOOOOORIBLE BIGOT....). In reality he is pretty far left wing, and i think it's a travesty that reason.com is basically endorsing him as some centrist/even-keeled libertarian when he is (in reality) pretty far left.
Lastly- Check CRIME in Colorado under Polis... how's that sht gone in the past few years???? Or... More specifically check how that AWESOME new drug Fenanyl fares here in CO... OR... Check the stats on Grand Theft Auto as a direct result of how Jarid Polis' endorsed AG (Phil Weiser) has gone since *DECRIMINALIZING* Auto theft under a certain dollar amount.
Reason.com- Are you ok with and/or ok marginalizing serious increases in crime as a result of drastically left-leaning policies? That seems the opposite of libertarian thinking to me.
I Hate when you guys position this guy as 'Libertarian'... You couldn't be more wrong....
Jared Polis’ Success Shows That Democrats Can Win While Lying About Not Embracing Big Government
Just like establishment Republicans.
They aren't called RINO'S for nothing.
