DOJ Moves To Unseal the Search Warrant Against Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago Estate
Garland said the move was in the name of transparency, as part of his pledge that the Justice Department would "speak through its work."

In a press conference today, Attorney General Merrick Garland addressed Monday's FBI raid of Mar-a-Lago, former President Donald Trump's Florida home. Trump confirmed the raid as it was happening.
Reporting since the raid has centered around allegations that Trump had taken classified material from the White House to his private residence after his term in office ended—a violation of federal law. The National Archives and Records Administration said as much in a letter to the Department of Justice (DOJ) earlier this year.
Many Republicans have fulminated against the raid, calling it "next-level Nixonian," akin to the acts of "3rd world Marxist dictatorships." Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy of California warned that the DOJ "has reached an intolerable state of weaponized politicization" and that when Republicans retake the House of Representatives after this year's midterm elections, they "will conduct immediate oversight" of the department.
In the press conference, in which he spoke less than five minutes and took no questions, Garland announced that in accordance with his pledge that the department would "speak through its court filings and its work," the DOJ had filed a motion to unseal the "search warrant" and "property receipt" from the Mar-a-Lago raid. Garland indicated that the DOJ had moved to make the documents public "in light of the former president's public confirmation of the search, the surrounding circumstances, and the substantial public interest in this matter." He did not address what materials were seized, but the motion does cite statements from Christina Bobb, Trump's lawyer, that the warrant was for "presidential records or any possibly classified material." "As such," the motion states, "the occurrence of the search and indications of the subject matter involved are already public."
While he clarified that the search warrant was "authorized by a federal court upon the required finding of probable cause," Garland admitted that he "personally approved the decision to seek a search warrant in this matter." He also clarified that the DOJ "does not take such a decision lightly. Where possible, it is standard practice to seek less intrusive means as an alternative to a search and to narrowly scope any search that is undertaken."
The New York Times reported earlier today that Trump actually received a subpoena earlier this year, requesting that he turn over classified material that had been improperly taken out of the White House. While Trump apparently returned material in response to the subpoena, the Times alleges that federal investigators felt there was more. The search warrant was seen as the last straw after other less invasive methods were attempted.
It's entirely possible that the FBI, not known for its dedication to transparency, is only making this move because of the massive spotlight that Trump and his supporters have put on it. But regardless of the motivation, more transparency in law enforcement is a net positive.

To answer your final paragraph: yes, the reason for the transparency has been the uproar.
They were just going to throw Donald out of a helicopter before the lady in the giant foam hat started asking questions THANK GOD
You seem very intelligent and charming. It funny how every single leftists is at heart the same sort of violent retard.
Well the handle is both sexist and transphobic, as if implying there's some negativity associated with being dickless. There's plenty of women that also happen to be dickless who are fantastic people of high moral character.

It's almost a gift to make every single post so terrible.
It really kind of is.
It really is. I have to admit, this troll is a bit better than the usual class of trolls we get around here.
From Stalin to Pol Pot, the blood thirst runs red.
I can't tell if you're trying to be witty and clever in a humorous sort of way, or trying to be snarky in condescending in a righteous sort of way.
As such, you're kind of failing at whatever this is that you're doing.
The Rev taking a new approach with all the clingers?
It's probably McGoo, who doxxed himself 3 years ago and turned out to be a dickless loser.
His posting style is pretty obvious whenever he pops back in.
Was that pod?
No, pod and mcgoo have completely different posting styles. Go back to the thread where mcgoo doxxed himself--it was a July 26, 2019 article by Shika about conservative nationalists--and you'll see what I mean.
The other tell is that when mcgoo posts here, he pointedly will talk shit to everyone except me, even though I'm one of the most aggressive-toned posters here.
Are you just one crazy person with a bunch of socks, or is some Soros outfit paying a whole bunch of ignorant social justice graduates to attack “libertarians”?
The irony is, of course, that most people who call themselves “libertarians” are little different in their politics from the average raging leftist Democrat.
Let me see if I can guess what is in there.
They wanted to raid Trumps records, so they wrote a testimony letter with something that would give them a cover reason, then paid an informant to sign it in exchange for leniency.
Correct
But how many encounter group versions did they test before the public release?
They must have interpolated a lot of viewer data from Cheney’s prime time monkey show, to think the fallout from this is going to be worth it.
I’ve read elsewhere (maybe here) that this raid was a Hail Mary before the midterms. How terrified they must be of the Orange Man’s political influence if this is the case.
Will the voter cheer the Swamp, or finally wake the fuck up?
The irony here is that most people are motivated not by an irrational cult of personality, as Democrats believe, but by utter disgust at the Democrats and their actions. The more they abuse their power against Trump, the more people hate them.
OK, but in your mind you clearly categorize what you just did as unsupported speculation, right? Like you don’t believe your speculation must be true because it feels right to hou, right?
He should have claimed the informant was under threat of being killed with an assault fire extinguisher to pass your required muster.
Our being drowned if bear spray.
Man... that would be a rough way to go
Does the thousands if times they have been caught doing this in the past count for anything?
Not for White Mike. He falls for it every time.
He's just as excited the 11,278th time they say "This time we got him!" as he was for the first.
Surely he must have unloaded all of his bodily fluids by now.
It has some weight. Irregardless, you are just speculating.
It’s just that I’ve seen a few commenters here lately not distinguishing at all between their conjectures and reality.
“Irregardless”
You know how someone is a pretentious douche? They use irregardless instead or regardless in a non-ironic way.
Hi White Mike. What's the difference between "irregardless" and "regardless" aside from pretention and bad grammar?
Haha, beat you to it.
"They wanted to raid Trumps records, so they wrote a testimony letter with something that would give them a cover reason, then paid an informant to sign it in exchange for leniency."
I don't think the title of this publication is supposed to be a parody. Continuing to shill for an ex-president who ignores the law and has shown now concern for anything but his own brand doesn't make you look reasonable.
Stop and think for a second: what is the most *Reason*able set of circumstances surrounding this? Blaming the FBI, DOJ and judge who signed off on the warrant as all nefarious is certainly a badge of loyalty. But it isn't reasonable. It's just dumb.
I’m not sure: do you realize that’s a quote from Eeyore, not Reason?
Hey, look a pedo defender leftist pretending to not be an insane marxist and failing badly.
Yeah, like most ignorant leftists you actually believe that there is a cult of personality around Trump, instead of just plain utter disgust at the repeated abuses of power by Democrats.
I have never voted for Trump. But should he run again, I may well this time, not because I like the guy, but because I utterly despise the alternatives.
You people are fucking hopeless.
You're right. There is no valid reason to question the actions and behavior of the DOJ or FBI. They've been totally on the up and up on everything.
You don't trust a thing that Trump says because he lies all the time. Yet, you trust everything from the DOJ and FBI even though they lie all the time.
It's like, you have no actual principles other than what's good for my team is good and what goes against my team is bad.
Why was it sealed in the first place? If it is something that transparency demands be unsealed today, that was true when it was written. And if there was a good reason for it to be sealed, that reason is presumably still valid today.
It should have never been sealed in the first place. It is only being unsealed now because they got caught.
The search warrant was seen as the last straw after other less invasive methods were attempted.
The search warrant was just the last reasonable step in a long process not an outrageous abuse of power and a fishing expedition. Oh no. It was totally on the up and up. The FBI went to a democratic hack magistrate rather than a real judge and sealed the basis for the warrant because this was totally on the up and up.
And Reason repeats this bullshit like it is fact.
Yep. And yep.
bullshit as fact is at least a six-year M.O. around here
I said it in another thread and I'll say it again; how is this not at least 10x worse than the phone call they impeached Trump over?
You forgot to balance the outrage based on party of aggressor and victim.
Ah yes, I forgot to take into account the Biden exception, silly me.
This is why the administration so desperately needs a Ministry Of Truth to coordinate the dissemination of its lies.
Yep!
https://simulationcommander.substack.com/p/countering-the-control-crisis
The thing about total control is that it’s EXTREMELY expensive and time-consuming to maintain. Suppressing information one place might cause it to simply pop up somewhere else, demanding the narrative-builders use even more resources to squash it again. (Laughing at you from Substack, Twitter) Everywhere you look, you see cracks in the narratives that threaten to shatter them — and as the cracks appear, the only response is EVEN MORE CONTROL, leading to more cracks…….
"The FBI went to a democratic hack magistrate rather than a real judge and sealed the basis for the warrant because this was totally on the up and up."
Remember, not only was the guy an Obama donor, he was also pretty vocal about his Trump antipathy.
For example:
“Thank you, Robert Reich, for saying what many of us feel, ‘John Lewis is the conscience of America. Donald Trump doesn’t have the moral stature to kiss John Lewis’s feet... Or, as Joseph Welch said to Joseph McCarthy, ‘At long last, have you left no sense of decency?’”
Lots more on Bruce Reinhart's Orangemanbad bonafides here: https://lippincott.substack.com/p/the-judge-who-signed-off-on-the-mar?utm_source=facebook&sd=pf
You might want to hear some evidence before unreasonably jumping to conclusions that are based on nothing but preconceptions gleaned from the Internet. Maybe Trump demanded it be sealed? Maybe the items seized were of such a sensitive nature (they appear to be classified, based on the previous subpoena for stolen classified material) that unsealing it puts national security at risk. Whatever. The point is *we don't know yet*. The only facts we have are that thre FBI seized boxes of items *after* having turned over some stuff in a previous demand. Jumping to conclusions as you have shows a willingness to put Trump ahead of national security. Luckily there are patriotic Americans who made sure that wouldn't happen.
Whether Trump wants something sealed or not is irrelevant, in particular if he is guilty of what Democrats are accusing him of. Garland and Biden should have been completely open within an hour of the raid. The fact that the administration has failed to put their cards on the table shows you that they have nothing.
Reason, when reporting information, can only quote what people say. It should up to the reader to decide what is and what is not true. It seems far more presumptuous to ascribe imagined rationale to the reporting. It's almost as if some peoples' own sensee of self worth is tethered to how "strong" Trump appears. An attack on him is an attack on his supporters with the legitimacy of the attack simply assumed to be political. Never mind that individual CI-1 at Mar a lago alerted the DOJ to even more stolen material Trump had allegedly hidden. It doesn't matter how much sense something makes: if it goes against Trump it goes against his supporters. If it benefits the country but goes against Trump, his supporters still consider it an atack on them. And they *still* have the balls (or delusion) that they are somehow "patriots".
“Reason, when reporting information, can only quote what people say. It should up to the reader to decide what is and what is not true.”
Reason is not a straight news publication. They are supposed to analyze news and comment on behalf of freedom regardless of the people involved.
They’ve chosen to do that only for certain topics, and for certain people. (It’s why the Mexicans, weed and buttsex joke has thrived in the comments for near a decade). They’ve become completely hypocritical for topics and people they don’t like because the people working for it are emotional, like children, that live in areas of the country where only certain types of people live.
Freedom for deplorables is not important. Yet the commentariat is full of libertarian deplorables. And despite the demonization against us, we’re not racists, we’re not sexists (making sandwich jokes doesn’t make you sexist, my wife laughs at the funny ones and boos the bad ones) we’re not really bigots at all. See the universal reaction when Misek spews his anti-semitism. We’re just fed up assholes that used to have a semi-mainstream publication that represented us, but now despises us and mocks us at every opportunity.
It’s why we support the Mises Caucus over the Reasonistas. They came along and said “we don’t give a shit about this woke liberal bullshit, we support individual liberty above it all, and we’re not afraid of offending anyone and being called names, because if we weren’t being called names we wouldn’t be pissing off the right people.”
Now, all that said: Go fuck yourself.
Well said.
While he clarified that the search warrant was "authorized by a federal court upon the required finding of probable cause," Garland admitted that he "personally approved the decision to seek a search warrant in this matter."
From the Newsweek article shared this morning:
The senior Justice Department source says that Garland was regularly briefed on the Records Act investigation, and that he knew about the grand jury and what material federal prosecutors were seeking. He insists, though, that Garland had no prior knowledge of the date and time of the specific raid, nor was he asked to approve it. "I know it's hard for people to believe," says the official, "but this was a matter for the U.S. Attorney and the FBI."
These people really need to get together on messaging. First Garland isn't involved in getting the warrant, and now he personally approved the decision to seek a search warrant. Try not to change the story too often, too fast, or else people might think you're misleading them on purpose.
Someone probably threatened to leak that he was involved. The white house has really gone out of the way to distance themselves as well, which while snart, doesn't pass the smell test.
It would not be difficult to both if Garland simply made it known that supported the notion of seeking a warrant if prosecutors deemed it necessary. I don't know why people have to see nefarious sneaking every time the light turns red. Maybe it turned red to slow you down. Maybe it just turned red. It takes someone with a pretty big ego to assume the world only works to thwart their agenda.
"The New York Times reported earlier today that Trump actually received a subpoena earlier this year, requesting that he turn over classified material that had been improperly taken out of the White House. It could be straight out of Anne Frank's diary! Spooky!
So how many times have you jerked off in the last 48 hours over the video of the various FBI thugs running around Mar Largo or whatever it is? A hundred? You know, compulsive masturbating can be harmful to your health. Just saying
Also likely to get mom asking about the laundry again.
I thought compulsive masturbating would only make you go blind if you did it too much; but was OK if you only did it till you needed glasses.
Smart.
This operation — and MSNBC told me we're not calling it a "raid" anymore — represents the government putting the finishing touches on its ironclad case that Drumpf has been a Russian intelligence asset since 1987 (proved by Robert Mueller) who masterminded a HEAVILY ARMED INSURRECTION (proved by Liz Cheney) after building LITERAL CONCENTRATION CAMPS (proved by AOC).
As soon as Drumpf goes to prison I expect Reason.com will pivot to the same message as the rest of the billionaire-funded #Resistance: "OMG Ron DeSantis is even scarier!!!!!!"
#LizCheney2024
Trump isn't going to prison. If he did, that is exactly what reason would do. There can be no doubt about that.
Walls closing in.

So there's an ongoing dispute in the records. Trump was cooperating, turned over some records. Of course, one side of the negotiation is The State, and they can just drop the hammer instead of dealing with another party good faith. Why bother trying to sort out the confusion when you can just tell a judge you're going in? Much more fun to strap in 3 dozen of your fed buddies in a cushy convoy, before breaking into a safe and going through the former First Lady's closet.
Its the FBI. There is a long standing and special relationship between the FBI and women's underwear. They couldn't help themselves.
Please note, that underwear fetish excluded Hillary Clinton. And, for damn good reasons!
Mostly for health and safety reasons.
Where do you think SHE hides the dead bodies? Where no one will look for them.
"federal investigators felt"
So, those documents were turned over in March. It’s now mid-August. Maybe they did attempt to get cooperation on the additional documents.
Way to read and comprehend his post. Good work Mike.
Trump's lawyers said they didn't.
Didn't you just chastise Eeyore above for engaging in speculation?
Well supposedly someone in Trump's camp notified them that these documents were there. Were these documents that were asked for and Trump denied having them? Also I keep seeing everyone saying Trump has the power to declassify anything. Is this true? Does anyone know if there is a process that must be followed or does he just wave his hand like a magic wand and say "Abracadabra Declassify". There must be some sort of review first...lets say its classified intel of where the US has soldiers or seal teams, etc. Can Trump really just declare them declassified and store them at a freaking golf course, apparently in a room which until recently wasn't even locked?
Yes, Trump really can just declassify whatever he wants. There is no procedure he needs to follow.
Operation Coverup is a bit transparent.
I thought it was called Operation Midterm?

Tulsi Gabbard unleashes a torrent of facts in what most on the left in Washington would call 'conspiracy theory' and 'hate speech' pointing out the fact that everything from the IRS to the Department of Homeland Security is "blatantly being weaponized to target political opponents of those in power and anyone who dares to dissent or question or challenge their actions and policies."
Who gives a flying fuck about Tulsi Gabbard?
Are you 90 years old? Did you die in front of the TV several years ago? LOL
I would give all sorts of fucks with Tulsi Gabbard.
"Who gives a flying fuck about Tulsi Gabbard?"
Heterosexuals
Lib is a dickless asshole.
Heterosexual _men_. Did you forget heterosexual women exist?
I remembered Tulsi Gabbard.

They're coming for the First Amendment and anyone who opposes the regime.

Unseal the search warrant affidavits. That’s where the feds lie, withhold, and exaggerate to get courts to sign off on their partisan chicanery.
If not for double standards.....

Hmm. Not a problem when that comic in Ukraine does this kind of shit.
Republicans pounce!
Garland indicated that the DOJ had moved to make the documents public "in light of the former president's public confirmation of the search, the surrounding circumstances, and the substantial public interest in this matter."
This is me scratching my chin...
Rather ballsy move saying, "In the name of transparency, we were going to raid a former President's home and just go with 'Fuck you, that's why' as the reason, but since you raised such a fuss I guess we'll give you the reason."
'Fuck you, that's why' has been the DNC's motto since 2012.
The New York Times reported earlier today that Trump actually received a subpoena earlier this year, requesting that he turn over classified material that had been improperly taken out of the White House.
One of trumps people in March told journalists the papers removed by Trump was ordered declassified prior to him leaving office.
One of the theories is the documents trump has at residence are the Crossfire Hurricane materials he ordered declassified and the DoJ refused to process, despite them having no power to do so. The president is the original classification authority. Departments can not override him.
That seems most likely to me.
It would be fucking great if he started his own blog of bad actions committed by the intelligence/law enforcement communities. If he declassified them, he can publish them.
they "will conduct immediate oversight" of the department.
Oooh, that will clean them up. Not like they haven't been promising more oversite and reforms after each and every FBI scandal for decades now.
Don't worry, the FBI will investigate the FBI and find that the FBI did nothing wrong.
"Our main fault is that we did not anticipate that our actions were being viewed as KGB or Stasi like by crazy insurrectionist plebians. We'll monitor the working classes far harder in the future to ensure such crazy ideas are not spread."
I'm curious to see what the results of this are.
We'll have to wait until motion to unseal the warrant rolls through the court system and is given due process and proper judicial scrutiny. These things take time as we don't want to rush into our conclusion. If... and IF the court agrees to unseal the warrant, hopefully by that time we'll have crafted a believable narrative.
Oh my fucking God. Sorry God. Leave it to Reason to point this out as a “net positive.”
This scandal is the best thing that ever happened to President Trump. It is important to note that there's no meaningful difference (in level of absurdity) between this FBI raid and the Russia hoax. They are both unprecedented and absolutely horrendous proofs of corruption. But, the FBI raid was more powerful from a PR perspective, since it was a sudden, quick and blatantly obvious move from Team Blue. The Avg Joes and Janes who don't really care about politics, and whom the MSM had ample amount of time to corrupt with lies, did not feel personally attacked by the Russia hoax. Yet this FBI raid was so on-the-noose, that no amount of damage control can stop this from backfiring in November. It revitalized the sanefolk and forced the Trump World, RINOs and various other conservatives together. It revitalized Trump and reaffirmed his central narrative about the Swamp. Amazing, really!
People thought that the deep state shenanigans would... well, I was going to say 'take a back seat' but even I'm not that optimistic... let's say "slow down" after Russiagate was widely acknowledged to be a fraud perpetrated by the media and the intelligence community.
But unlike the hyper-regulatory super-woke San Francisco urban planning division people, they didn't all just go away last weekend.
Lock him up.
Both the Mueller Report and the GOP led Senate Intel Comm Report of 2020 verified Trump's collusion with Russia - with Putin's knowledge and approval - to gain advantage over Hillary in the 2016 election. The "hoax" is believing anything Trump says and thinking he won't always cheat to benefit himself and fuck whoever is in the way, including the US.
I know you know that neither did anything of the sort.
Who do you think you're tricking by continuing to lie about what is now a very criminal piece of agitprop by Soros, McCain and the Hillary campaign?
And no other evidence has come out since.
It's scary how much you want to imprison your political opponents.
Well, one guy got probation for lying on a FISA warrant and no one else paid any consequences, so why would they stop?
Left unsaid:
Will he publish these documents unredacted, and will it include the supporting affidavit?
Also, why was the raid conducted in the middle of the night instead of the light of day? Trump wasn't there, nothing was going to disappear if they waited a few more hours?
Standard tactics when you have the area covered by snipers with night vision. In daylight you give up your advantage.
Before I answer your question, we have to first decide if it was even a "raid". That's loaded language that we don't yet agree on.
It’s quite clearly not the appropriate word to describe the event.
Middle of the night? The FBI was reported to have arrived at 9 a.m.
"DOJ Moves To Unseal the Search Warrant...Garland said the move was in the name of transparency"
LIAR! The DOJ and FBI have been playing hide and seek with the warrant all week. They are unsealing the search warrant because a federal judge ordered them to do so in court yesterday. If Garland was so interested in 'transparency' why didn't he take any questions? Again, LIAR!
LIAR! The DOJ and FBI have been playing hide and seek with the warrant all week. They are unsealing the search warrant because a federal judge ordered them to do so in court yesterday.
This needed to be emphasized again.
Reason Editors for helping the Deep State!!!
It's not like the FBI would lie on a non-FISA warrant.
So... Is this all leading up to the head of the FBI holding a press conference a few weeks before the election to tell the world that Trump was reckless in his handling of classified information, but it isn't the type of thing anyone would get prosecuted for? I knew history repeats itself, I just didn't realize that little episode was coming back so soon.
Let's assume nothing comes of this, since it was a bullshit fishing expedition on a guy who's had the full force of the federal government and media focused on finding something, anything they can to pin on him for 7 years and has come up with nothing that whole time.
So... what if they assassinate him?
Trump has got to have a kill switch for these files in place. 9D chess and all.
I'm guessing they're wanting the highly classified Kennedy assassination files back 🙂 and maybe the UFO stuff too. He promised to declassify everything!
Yeah. no way Trump lies or tries to hide evidence.
Lock him up!
He's no Hillary or Barack.
All of his ambassadors survived his term.
Rught. And there’s no way Federal Bureau of Instigation lies or tries to plant evidence.
Cite please.
Seriously?
FBI directors have been known to skirt the finer legalities
What are you accusing Trump of lying about in this case?
He had formerly classified documents at his home. There is no question about that. How does that legally justify raiding his home?
Agree this will backfire on the DOJ and FBI. If you are a conservative being tried on Federal charges, one possible defense is that your prosecution has no basis in fact but has been politically directed due to your conservative politics. Believe it or not, at one time the FBI was generally seen as an organization with integrity. That's long since destroyed. Now the FBI is no more than an American KGB. No longer credible or trustworthy on anything. The DOJ is the same. Remember in November.
Dude, the "Deep State" conspiracy you dumb fuckers have been buying gave Trump the election in 2016. The FBI head Comey you hate so much announced 2 weeks before the vote that Hillary was under FBI investigation again. Funny thing - so was Trump, but he didn't mention that. How do you think that would have played out? 538 said Comey's announcement cost Hillary 4% and lost her the EC though she won the popular vote.
That's your terrible FBI trying to "screw conservatives" by handing the election to Fatso, and you're too dumb to see it.
It’s a crazy conspiracy that the people who have control of the power of the federal government, including multi-generational wealth and privilege, wouldn’t do anything to maintain it.
It’s sad you don’t realize the people you worship would shoot you in the back of the head and call it suicide if you became inconvenient.
Haha, I’m just kidding! That kind of thing doesn’t happen in this country! We’re all good Democrats here.
R Mac, everything I typed above is absolutely true and you know it. We all know it, we lived through it and it's public record now. Yet you idiots somehow think Trump was the one screwed by the FBI.
Idiots.
The only difference is fascists like you fucks and that asshole who died in a corn field might actually have to pay for the crimes you commit.
It's long overdue.
Fuck off fascist.
PS A close relative was a federal prosecutor who worked on gang and violent crimes. A large case they did which made national news relied primarily on an FBI agent working undercover, pretending to be a mafia made man from the other coast, who would hang out with the gang head until 3 in the morning at his club. This went on for over a year, meeting several times a month. After each night he drove to the suburbs and went to bed with his wife and with his 3 kids in their room.
You motherfuckers have that kind of guts? He's in another city now, doing equally dangerous shit so you creeps can pontificate at the keyboard about what a low life he is.
Fuck you.
Nobody believes you. You can look to your own past behavior for why.
Your friend's bravery excuses all the evil shit the FBI has perpetrated over the decades. Go fuck yourself, Friday.
I met the guy and of course you know those kind of guys are necessary for the work the FBI does. Your stupid fantasies from too many movies and no facts is what no one believes except the low life QAnon fools who are a national joke now.
Thank God Garland is not a Supreme Court Justice.
Big surprise the usual fascists are out clamoring with their inane nonsense yet again.
You people are without hope. Heaven forbid your god king has to answer for his crimes.
Yes: fascists like you are out en masse again.
And even people who don’t like Trump rally to his defense because evil brownshirts like you must be opposed.
Like smelling marijuana from across the street emanating from unit 127b from a 200 unit apartment building, the FBI smelled more documents while wandering through the marbled halls of Mar-a-Lago even though they found none.
This is the kind of search warrant shenanigans that Reason is less quick to jump on and would prefer to wait until all the facts have been carefully assessed by the Washington Post before making any full-throated pronouncements on.
