World Food Supplies Are Enough To Feed Everyone
But despotic brutality is once again pushing millions to the brink of starvation.

"The world is facing a global hunger crisis of unprecedented proportions in 2022 and we are at a critical crossroads," observes the World Food Programme (WFP) in a recent statement. The WFP reports that 49 million people are currently at risk of succumbing to famine while 276 million others are facing acute food insecurity. That number could increase to 323 million later this year.
"There's absolutely no reason to have people starving to death today," said Brian Lander, the WFP's deputy director of emergencies. "There's enough food in the world to feed everyone, and that's why it's critical to act now to prevent starvation."
Lander is right. The U.S. Department of Agriculture's latest World Agricultural Production report notes that total global grain production is slated to be a bit higher this year than last. Wheat production looks to be flat, while both corn and rice are up a bit. For context, since 2001, global corn production has doubled, wheat production up by a third, and rice production increased by nearly 30 percent. Over that time, world population rose by 25 percent.
So if there's enough food to go around, why has the global trend toward lower levels of hunger recently reversed? "As of today, the world has no global shortage of food, but food is quite expensive and people's wages have not adjusted yet," said David Laborde, a senior research fellow at the International Food Policy Research Institute. "The main issue is that we have problems moving this food around, either due to the war or export restrictions."
As a result, world food prices reached an all-time high earlier this year, according to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.
The price increases are the result of a concatenation of events stemming from the disruptions caused by Russia's invasion of Ukraine, including price increases in fuels and fertilizers and blocked grain exports. In addition, the WFP notes, "Conflict is still the biggest driver of hunger, with 60 percent of the world's hungry living in areas afflicted by war and violence."
In a world with more than enough food to feed everybody, despotic governmental brutality and stupidity are once again causing famines.

Ron Bailey campaigned for this
He didn't campaign for it that I recall but, you know, two weeks to flatten the curve makes sense and keeping everything locked down until we can get everyone tested and a universal real-time contact tracing scheme in place is just science. Can't have people moving around freely, trading food, if there's even a 1% chance that one of them might be carrying around a disease that has a 0.05% chance of killing grandma.
Well, 40% of the US corn crop is made into ethanol which is added to gasoline at a 10% mix. This is required by law, even though environmental groups agree that it does not really reduce CO2, lower emissions, or do anything other than increase profits for ADM. Biden signed another executive order to raise the ethanol in gasoline to 15% in one of his geriatric attempts to slightly reduce the cost of fuel. This will mean that 60% of the US corn crop is being burned.
That should help.
Fuck Joe Biden
The First News network ran an interesting show on how the climate change agenda will kill at least one billion people world wide before our self-appointed elites are satisfied. Remember Biden is one of their puppets.
And Ron is one of their cheerleaders and propagandists
"pushing millions to the brink of starvation"
From a Koch / Reason libertarian perspective, that's not necessarily a bad thing. Our benefactor Charles Koch views the planet's desperate, miserable people as potential cost-effective imported labor. Hopefully those malnourished bodies find their way to the US and get minimum wage jobs at Koch Industries! 🙂
#CheapLaborAboveAll
1) The World Food Program has never found a problem that didn't require greater government intervention and "international cooperation" to solve.
2) It is pretty ridiculous that Mr Bailey was able to get through an entire article discussing how the poor are being priced out of meals without a single mention of the word "Inflation."
Inflation doesn't stop at this nation's borders. EU Inflation is at around 8% right now. The US and EU represent around half of the world economic activity.
Food is more expensive because everything is more expensive, and that is because of inflation.
You're all in this together!
The price increases are the result of a concatenation of events stemming from the disruptions caused by Russia's invasion of Ukraine, including price increases in fuels and fertilizers and blocked grain exports.
You can't expect an admirer of Stalin to not have his own Holodomor.
Funny how Ron can't be bothered to write in the disruptions and price increases from before the Ukraine invasion, almost like he's got a political narrative to push and a politician to protect above the truth.
"Putin's Price Hike."
And I hear that there are enough bedrooms in the world to house the homeless, counting all those mansions, second and third homes, and hotels and resorts--not to mention the homes vacated by people staying at hotels and resorts. We just need the mandate to redistribute bedrooms.
And speaking of bedrooms, I also understand that there is more than enough pussy to make sure that nobody suffers from forced abstinence. Let's stop being unfair and use some Science!
There has always been enough food to feed everyone, if it were distributed efficiently enough.
Similarly, there has always been enough fresh water for every thirsty person, and to irrigate every field.
Distribution is the problem, and always has been. It is going to get worse, as fuel prices have already more than doubled.
Under our horrible terrible evil capitalist system in America we have probably the fattest poor people in the world.
Starvation is not this century's problem, or even last. Poor people are substantially more likely to die from complications of morbid obesity than starvation.
Socialism gave us bread lines and livestock shortages. Capitalism allowed them to become livestock (of their choosing).
The problem was always distribution, not production.
So one damn fool starts a war in the middle of the wheat fields, and another damn fool buries the fuel for the tractors and trucks.
The problem is more water than food - yes, the green revolution of the 1960s dramatically increased harvests but all those crops are thirsty and need water. Right now, California is suffering from a major drought, and about 80% of the water is going to agriculture.
California is a desert with too many people living in it. Few places have this problem.
If we find a cheap and easy way to de-salinate ocean water we won't have a water problem anymore.
And it would appease the climate people too. Wouldn't using ocean water in a rising ocean save us?

The Malthusian theory explained that the human population grows more rapidly than the food supply until famines, war or disease reduces the population. And Keynes said, ‘In the long run, we’re all dead.’ Best we can do is accelerate that by listening to WFT…
Obama's Clean-Energy Act destroyed Farm Equipment.
Nothing brings on famine like a Democrat....
There may be enough food to feed everyone NOW, but give it six months and there probably will not be. Biden is working on the problem as hard as he can and given the amount of destruction he has wrought in the past 18 months, six more months should just about do it.
Actually I think your six month prediction is pretty accurate based on my observations. And it's really too late to stop it.
https://legalinsurrection.com/2022/06/record-diesel-prices-may-lead-to-food-scarcity-crisis/
From the article at the above link:
..........."The overall testimony suggested the dire farm situation will exacerbate the rate of already steep food price increases. The federal government reported last week that food prices in May were 10.1% higher than a year earlier, with the rate of increase gaining speed.
After the hearing — in a phone interview — Kotzmoyer made clear that food may not be as available because of the fuel price surge.
“One, if they can’t afford to put it in the ground,” he said of farming using diesel-thirsty machinery. “Or, two, if they can’t afford to take it out.”
National Black Farmers Association president: "We've never, ever faced a food shortage — and I think that's coming."
I drive a semi truck for a living and the current situation is unsustainable for any business that relies on diesel. Diesel pump prices have gone over 6 dollars a gallon in all of the four states I drove in last week. We have a surcharge system in the industry and shippers typically pay a significant amount of the increase which, of course, they ultimately pass on to the consumer. But they do not pay for deadhead, empty, fuel. That cost is borne by the owner of the truck. Meanwhile shipping rates are falling as consumers cut back on spending and demand declines. It's a perfect storm that will drive up the cost of everything if the economy doesn't collapse completely. All of this was created by and continues to be exacerbated by government. And right now it looks like it's going to get a whole lot worse.
The fields in Iowa are all planted. Corn and soybeans all sprouting well. The recent rains and other weather have been good.
Now if only those crops can get harvested... Diesel emissions have really SCREWED the supply chain. See article.

Never-mind the COST to keep these Obama Mandated Systems a-float, or that they tend to just burn themselves to the ground (so long environmental concerns)... I find it most humorous that within *ALL* that article the very underlying factor OBAMA+ENVIRONUT Nazi's initiated this problem....
A clear example of how economic planning fucks everyone.
'How did Newsom cause all those empty containers to be where they are not required?'
Dunno; please tell us why, prior to Newsom, acting as commissar of the 5th largest economy in the world, the did not end up there.
TBH, I do know: Newsom is an egocentric ignoramus, hoping against all the examples that un-educated asshole never read, that HE was smart enough to do it right this time.
Keep that in mind when the asshole becomes the D POTUS candidate, since not even Biden can tolerate Harris.
As surely as the flow of grain barges down the Dnieper once modulated the price of bread in Paris, gas prices are up because a carbon curtain has descended across Europe, from St. Petersburg on the Baltic to Sevastopol on the Black Sea. From the perspective of both oil refining magnates and their publicists, that is a very promising economic development.
"World Food Supplies Are Enough To Feed Everyone"
Thank you, Norman Borlaug.
Fuck you (with Tony's dick) Vandana Shiva.
This has been true for decades. Chaos-torn countries ruled by petty warlords are the only places there are starvation, or countries suffering under brutal dictators who control their every move and all imports.
The very definition of the USA (U.S. Constitution) is suppose to avoid it from being turned into a chaos-torn country ruled by petty warlords and brutal dictators...
Course what is one to do when Na(>National<)zi(Socialists)-Faith believers use [WE] gang-rules "democracy" to VOID the USA for their Nazism? I think it's due time the States of this CONSTITUTIONAL Union of Republican States starts to assert sovereignty authority OVER the Corporation-Nazi take-over in D.C.
I suggest that all States legislatures write law that no "environmental law" from D.C. be enforce. That no "political criminals" be prosecuted from D.C. That no "market law" be enforced from D.C.
In the USA; D.C. doesn't have the authority for these areas per the very definition of the USA and that is what separates the USA from [WE] mob chaos-torn war-zone nations.
The State's should force the D.C. Union government to adhere to the USA (Supreme Law) and prevent it from becoming a Nazi-Nation because apparently the Supreme Court is inept to do so.
The Nazi-Faith believers (i.e. Democrats) insisting Amy Barrett 'adhere' to the "democracy" will during her hearing was crazy treasonous. I mean good grief; they don't even know why a Supreme Court/Judiciary Branch exists... They complain about 'Robe' dictation all the time..
People need to see this for exactly what it is... It is a Nazi invasion of the USA... There cannot be [WE] mob unlimited Na.tional rulers and and communism/soZialism policy and a USA. The definition of the USA prevents Nazism..
It is an INVASION by people jumping up and down even making campaign promises to VOID (break the Supreme Law) of the USA...
That's only really been true in the last 40 or so years. And, with the rapid change in price, what WILL we have to give up to eat.
Fortunately, in an America with 40% or more people being obese, either we have already prepped for the lean time, or there is a lot of extra long pork to harvest (depending on where your current body fat rests) ...
