Brickbat: Out of Control
Miami-Dade County, Florida, police officer Alejandro Giraldo faces up to five years in prison after a jury found him guilty of felony battery and official misconduct in the arrest of a woman who had called police to report a neighbor had pointed a shotgun at her. Giraldo pushed Dyma Loving into a fence, tackled her to the ground, and handcuffed her. Loving was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest without violence, but those charges were later dropped. Prosecutors said Giraldo's arrest report falsely said that Loving was "causing a scene" and was being "uncooperative."

What color was everyone’s skin? That’s what really matters.
Do you need to know the actual color, or would it be sufficient to know that GIraldo's is lighter than Loving's?
There's got to be more to the story.
I'm guessing the cop knew the dude with the shotgun, and had to flip blame on the lady. Bros before hoes is the police motto.
I must say, if Ashli Babbitt had gotten the Dyma Loving treatment, I would have *zero* complaints and would even go so far as to say that if they dismissed Byrd for treating Babbitt the way Giraldo treated Loving, the firing would've absolutely been the wrong decision.
That's not to say that Giraldo was right to arrest Loving. Just that, as far as police misconduct and punitive (of police) actions go, this one seems *exceedingly* tame/over-punitive. That Byrd (or Pantaleo and D'Amico or Goodson, Niro, and Rice) walked and Giraldo didn't isn't a return to any notion of 'balance of justice'. Pantaleo kills someone and loses his job while Giraldo didn't kill or even seriously injure anyone is looking at a 5 yr. term still seems kinda unusual and systemically biased.

If politicians manned the squad cars to enforce their own laws, we could maybe be rid of a lot of them, and maybe some dumb laws to boot.

I was unaware that "causing a scene" and "being uncooperative" constituted crimes in this country.
