Brickbat: Out of Sight

The University of Hong Kong, a public university in Hong Kong, has removed the Pillar of Shame, a sculpture honoring the pro-democracy protesters killed in Tiananmen Square by Chinese officials in 1989. In a statement, university officials described the statue as "fragile" and said it was removed because of "potential safety issues."

As in if you have a tank, you have free speech.
Don't tread on me!
Damn. 😀
The only fragile thing here is the CCP's delicate fee-fees.
Tanks for the memories...
The Communists rightly fear memorials for their victims. They cause folks to start cursing their regime—-Turrets Syndrome, as the comrades call it.
Looks like the world’s most painful butt plug. I can see why it would be removed. It’s disturbing as hell.
What kind of maniac allowed it to be erected in the first place?
Trying to cram a round buttplug into a tiananmen square hole.
Someone that was horrified by the Tiananmen square massacre and wanted to mark that historical event for posterity?
I see what you did there.

I think it's more like the Communists don't like anyone pointing out their lying, cheating, thieving, murdering actions as if they were bad things. As Communist intellectuals, they are aware of the fact that you gotta break a few eggs if you want to make an omelette and they are the sort of brave warriors with the will and determination to do what needs to be done. They realize however that the great mass of humanity are simple ignorant and sentimental creatures who only see the broken eggs but lack the vision to see the omelets. They are therefore easily misled into believing broken eggs are a bad thing so it is for their own good and the good of society that the broken eggs don't get mentioned at all.
So, like antifa, BLM, and the Proud Boys?
"...as if they were self-evidently bad things."
FIFY
When all you get are broken egg shells and you never get to eat the omelette, it's hard to see breaking the eggs as anything but a bad thing, especially if they were your eggs that were stolen and broken.
I guess that's just the Communist way: steal your eggs, cheat you out of any share of the omelette, lie about their theft and cheating, and murder you if you protest in any way. What a wonderful ideology to which to aspire!
"potential safety issues."
Yep. The University leadership wants to keep themselves "potentially safe" from the Chinese Government.
America doesn't have to lie about why we're removing our statues.
Personally, I can't think of anything that screams "White Privilege!" louder than a statue commemorating Asian university students.
