Brickbat: That's Not Equality

The Natural Science and Engineering Council of Canada rejected a grant request from Patanjali Kambhampati, professor chemistry at Montreal's McGill University. The council told Kambhampati "the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion considerations in the application were deemed insufficient." He had another request for government funding turned down for similar reasons last year. He wrote on the application, "We will hire the most qualified people based upon their skills and mutual interests." Both grants were rejected before they even had a chance to go to actual scientists to judge the scientific merits of the proposed research.

Scientists should know better than to talk about equality and merit. Those words are triggering for the wokadile.

You realize these people are insane, right? Once you start letting insane people run your country, I'd start teaching my grandkids to speak whatever language it is they speak in Zimbabwe because Zimbabwe is going to be the most powerful country in the world in about 50 years.
whatever language it is they speak in Zimbabwe
You mean the lingua franca they use in schools and government affairs (English) or one of the totally-not-insane, Constitutionally-recognized 15 other official languages?

Something similar happened to me regarding a hiring. I ended up elsewhere and got a $56M grant. That outfit languished in equity mediocrity.

Regardless of the merits of the story, the accompanying image is really something. That stamp cannot be related to the stamped text, because the stamp itself instead of being a mirror image of the text, is a mirror image of the text... spelled backwards.
Unless they stamped a mirror, which the camera is looking down at.
Nope, I'm wrong that still wouldn't work. Neither would stamping a piece of glass and taking the picture through it.
The stamp wouldn't work in the mirror either. Look at which way all the letters are pointed. It's not a "rejected" stamp. It says "DETCEJER".
Good eye! Someone went to a lot of work to photoshop such a blunder.
Some*one*? I would suspect krowmaet makes the dream work.
FJT. Let's go Bernard?
Wonder if only promoting diversity to the point it exist in the world, or the specific country or field of study would be acceptable to these types. My impression is that like other entities they want to promote diversity at a greater level than actually exist as a backdoor exclusionary practice.
Gotta keep out the 'wrong' types after all. Wonder when the diversity and euity water fountains are getting installed.
Patanjali Kambhampati didn't have the right chemistry, with the grants-granters. They need to diversify all of their molecules, and ask each and every one of those molecules, what their preferred personal pronouns are!
(My preferred personal pronoun is Your Excellency, Supreme Booger-Beam-Wielder, and Most Splendiferously Self-Esteemed Master of ALL of Space, Time, Dimension, and Semi-Supreme Booger-Beings).
Patanjali Kambhampati is an Asian name. And Asians (including subcontinent) are now considered honorary Whites. They're looking for a Black lesbian who identifies as a First Nation fluid-xer.
That’s zer, you bigot.
/sarcasm
Just double the grant request size and openly declare you'll spend half the grant on black and brown people regardless of ability and half will be dedicated to completing the grant goals. Then pocket the remainder for any overlap in the two spending pools.
Equity! is not equality, Fairness! is not freedom, and Science! is not, well, science.
And none of those woke things is reality.
Once upon a time McGill was a distinguished and respected university.
Back in the 90s students needed to show a diversity of extracurricular activities. A 4.0 grade average wasn't good enough, needed to be president of at least a dozen student groups plus twenty hours a week of community service.
That's now changed. Today you need to be your own identity subgroup. It's easier now, but you gotta lie and be willing to put on facade for four years.
The old way of buying your way in with your parent's endowment wasn't good either. The system they need is a lottery. That would be most fair for the upper echelon schools. 4.0 GPA plus win the lotto.
Of course, the real solution is to get government out of higher education. No taxpayer funding, either direct or indirect, for tuition or fellowships or grants. Then the schools can do whatever they want, and if they want to be stupid they can.
Even if government were to continue paying for it, as they do for K-12, a voucher system would go a long way towards killing this woke DIE shit.
Wouldn't it be interesting if student loans were generic, not for any specific university?
If student loans were based on each student’s **current** ability to independently make repayment, there would be a better character of student.
Eliminate parent income. Eliminate prospective payments based on career projections.
Require a current work history.
Right now, they’re getting lazier and more stupid people into colleges, because these students are allowed to take out loans to pay for living expenses + tuition + fees + meals, all without any demonstrated ability to earn a paycheck.
Most student loan recipients today have never held a full or part-time job. They welcome progressivism on campuses because they’re lazy and entitled.
The way to end it is to require a work history.
"We will hire the most qualified people based upon their skills and mutual interests."
Oh, the scandal!
would think Kambhampati tips the scale by himself.
If not him personally, then lots of white people working under him more for the privilege than the pay should count for something.
