Brickbat: Bad Medicine
Manitoba, Canada's highest court has ordered the University of Manitoba to re-adjudicate the expulsion of medical student Rafael Zaki, saying the process appeared to be biased because the associate dean of undergraduate medical education was involved both in the decision to expel Zaki and in the final decision to affirm the expulsion. Zaki was expelled after making pro-life and pro-gun rights posts on social media. Zaki said the university violated his rights to freedom of religion and freedom of expression. The university said it expelled Zaki because he did not meet professional standards of conduct and attitude.
