Royal Canadian Mounted Police blocked off roads to GraceLife Church while crews erected a fence around the site. Alberta Health Services had ordered the church closed because members continued to meet in defiance of COVID-19 restrictions. AHS said the church would remain closed until members agree not to violate COVID-19 guidelines, which allow churches to open at no more than 15 percent capacity and mandate that masks be worn and people from different households remain two meters apart.

Left out of this summary:. Canada found new ways to create law and jail people.

There was no jail time for any of the infractions the pastor was accused of. Yet he spent 35 days in jail.

They tried to get him to sign what was essentially a consent decree that he would not violate any health orders. Violating that promise would be a crime and come with jail time.

He refused.

So they arrested him and charged him with violating the consent decree anyway.... Even though he never agreed to it, never signed it.

It was the lone charge that he plead guilty to.... $1,500 fine that he won't pay because he spent a month in jail. Apparantly it was the only way to get out of jail.

Then they siezed the church and surrounded it with a temporary fence and blocked off roads to keep people from attending protests.

They are suing to contest the application of the Canadian Health Law keeping churches closed but allowing Wal-Mart to open. They will contest the government claims that they are simply following the science.

The government counters that they need to delay the court case for months so they can gather the evidence. You know... The evidence they claim they have that drove them to close churches, specifically.

These good folks are pretty much exposing their government for simply making stuff up and arbitrarily instituting rules that act as law without any evidence.

Their latest move was to move the curfew from 9:30 pm to 8:00 pm just as the days get longer. You know... So people won't do stuff outside and kids won't play in the parks. All things that science shows are big-time spreaders of Covid.

After protesters tore down the fence, they sent out 200(!) riot police to put the fence back up and protect it. This is no longer about the coronavirus, this is about obedience to the government and doing what you're told, you filthy peasant.

Word is that the protesters who were there and tore the fence down were "outside agitators".... Meaning people who don't go to that church but are sympathetic to the "holy crap, you guys are going way to far in violating these people's rights" side of things.
