That 60 Minutes Story on Ron DeSantis and Florida's Vaccine Rollout Is Wildly Flawed
CBS cut the part where DeSantis carefully explains why the reporter's narrative is wrong.

A 60 Minutes story on Florida's vaccine rollout accused Ron DeSantis, the state's Republican governor, of making a corrupt deal with Publix to distribute the vaccine. CBS reporter Sharyn Alfonsi noted that the grocery chain donated $100,000 to DeSantis' election campaign and suggested the lucrative vaccination contract was a "pay-to-play" scheme.
It's an accusation that doesn't really stand up to scrutiny: For one thing, Publix—like many large corporations—gives money to both Republicans and Democrats. But more importantly, the decision to have Publix coordinate vaccination was not even made by the governor's office. According to Jared Moskowitz, director of the Florida Division of Emergency Management, it was his offices that recommended Publix. Moskowitz, a Democrat, has said that Publix was the best store for the job, since it has more than 800 locations across the state.
Indeed, when Alfonsi cornered DeSantis at a press conference and asked him about Publix, he gave a lengthy explanation that largely undercut her claims. He pointed out, for instance, that it wasn't true that Publix got the vaccines first: CVS and Walgreens had already been contracted to coordinate vaccination for long-term care facilities. Here's a transcript of what the governor said:
So, first of all, when we did, the first pharmacies that had it were CVS and Walgreens. And they had a long term care mission. So they were going to the long term care facilities. They got vaccines in the middle of December, they started going to the long term care facilities the third week of December to do LTCs. So that was their mission. That was very important. And we trusted them to do that. As we got into January, we wanted to expand the distribution points. So yes, you had the counties, you had some drive through sites, you had hospitals that were doing a lot, but we wanted to get it into communities more. So we reached out to other retail pharmacies—Publix, Walmart—obviously CVS and Walgreens had to finish that mission. And we said, we're going to use you as soon as you're done with that. For the Publix, they were the first one to raise their hand, say they were ready to go.
Remarkably, CBS cut this portion of DeSantis' response. In fact, the 60 Minutes story reduced his two-minute answer to just a few seconds. The Daily Wire has a full breakdown of the sizable gap between what DeSantis actually said and what CBS included, and it's telling. This was not a case of a journalist condensing the essence of what a source told her: Alfonsi blatantly ignored the part of the governor's statement that clashed with her narrative, and instead included a brief comment that made it sound like he became combative with her for no reason.
The rest of the story is also quite flawed. It maligned DeSantis for "breaking with CDC guidelines" and prioritizing vaccination for the elderly instead of "teachers and essential workers." Since the elderly are at the highest risk of dying from COVID-19, this prioritization makes absolute sense, irrespective of the CDC's warped views on the subject.
CBS also implied that there's something sinister and unique about a Republican administration having "privatized" the vaccine rollout. (Corporations +profits = scary.) But private entities are aiding with vaccine distribution elsewhere as well: In the District of Columbia, CVS has partnered with the city's Democratic mayor to vaccinate all sorts of people.
The mainstream media seems intent on peddling a false narrative that Florida's approach to the pandemic has been uniquely bad. As Zeynep Tufekci explained in a recent article, this is an example of how "polarization has eaten a lot of our brains":
Lots of people are angry, very angry with Florida, and willing to quickly believe the worst. In reality, it's… middling. Compared with the rest of the country, Florida's record is neither stellar nor terrible. How much of this is its middling guidelines, how much of this is the weather advantage, how much of this just luck? It's not yet fully clear.…
But the polarized climate means that Andrew Cuomo—who is implicated in a large number of terrible policies—can sell a book about his pandemic leadership for $4 million dollars (even before the pandemic was over!) while people are readily willing to believe that Florida—which, from what I can tell, actually has one of the better reporting systems—must be lying and covering up its terrible numbers.
60 Minutes' report is another example of this weird fixation. Moreover, it's misleadingly clipped to deprive viewers of DeSantis' plausible explanation of the alleged controversy. No wonder that so many people—and Republicans, especially—distrust the media.

60 minutes is The Daily Show, but without the comedy. Sort of... like the Daily Show under Trevor Noah... but that's another subject. Anyhoo... 60 Minutes has been carefully editing interviews and stories for years to push narratives.
How does CBS compare to Faux News?
CBS Loses more money and has fewer viewers than Fox News? That kind of comparison?
But FoxNews lies at least 4x more than any other network which just shows how much Fox viewers need to hear those lies.

Nice whataboutism.
On one hand rabbi was being sarcastic... on the other hand this could be a parody of sqrsly who always cries whataboutism...
So a win-win.
I see your Faux News and raise you a See-BS.
CBS pushes propaganda with little news. Fox pushes news with little propaganda. When most Americans think news they tune in to Fox.
The Daily Show with smug Trevor Noah as host is anything but funny?
I will give Noah a little credit for his "burn the tapes!" bit when liberals finally, grudgingly started to acknowledge all of problems with Cuomo's leadership. Pretty much all of the late night hosts said the same "I'm a Cuomo-sexual" line, but I think he was the only one who later made a self deprecating joke about it .
I loved the Daily Show when it was funny.
I never realized it before, but I started reading the comments at Reason when John Stewart left the Daily Show.
I am not sure what that means.
Another lie. No way a fascist Mormon like you liked John Stewart.
Trevor Noah is ok, but I don't watch anymore.
Poor KAR, still longing after the lover of that lost Mormon boy from so long ago.... If only he hadn't spurned your advances, we wouldn't have to deal with your idiocy now.
Craig kilbourne has been gone for a long time
When it comes to politicians, if it smells like corruption, it's probably corruption. Except, of course, when it's a Republican. Then it's a media conspiracy!
Or, more precisely, when it's a Republican, it's corruption until the retraction is made six weeks later, long after the narrative has been established as the conventional wisdom.
Yes, that explains why Democrats are also disagreeing with the 60 Minutes portrayal of Gov DeSantis.
A fine example why the left and their ally the fake news is confident that there are enough weak minded people they can lie to over and over and still be believed with some so weak they will even repeat the lies over and over and believe them after they have been completely debunked and corrected. The Russian hoax is actually true. Right?
"...Anyhoo… 60 Minutes has been carefully editing interviews and stories for years to push narratives."
You left out the part about "lying".
Robby can't stop slobbering GOP talking points. He needs to chill out. Faux News is never going to give him a job offer!
I'm beginning to see a pattern of fixation that you have.
Rabbi is a comedy troll. And xe can be a pretty good one at times.
“Arguing with anonymous strangers on the Internet is a sucker’s game because they almost always turn out to be—or to be indistinguishable from—self-righteous sixteen-year-olds possessing infinite amounts of free time.”

Yeah, that was always a wrong and stupid take by a pseudo-intellectual who didn't get it and even more so now that a mean tweets decided a Presidential election.
You and Neal can go be impressed with the smell of your farts somewhere else.
Get a load of the self-righteous sixteen-year-old.
Get a load of an obnoxious lefty pile of shit.
Funny, since he's on Fox a lot.
I like when he’s on Kennedy. Welch? Not so much.
Not so much with Suderman, either. KMW is OK when she's on Kennedy.
Haven’t seen Suderman on there in awhile, but agreed on both.
An organization that has 800 stores couldn’t possibly know anything’s about product distribution and logistics. Only government bureaucrats know how to do things.
Exactly. And furthermore, why not "privatize" (whatever the hell that means) the vaccine rollout. I've had access to the vaccine since January, but I haven't taken it because I would of had to drive a an hour to the "public facility," sit in my car for god knows how long, and then drive back. Now? I'm slated to get the vaccine next week because a local brewery about 2 blocks from my house is going to set up a 1 day clinic for the J&J shot as a thank you to all their patrons that kept them in business over the last 12 months. If you want to maximize the rollout quickly and efficiently...do shit like this.
"would of"
Yikes

With his username, what were you expecting?
It would be so much better if FEMA distributed it.
Man, I'm starting to think that maybe the media isn't just reporting the news anymore!
I don’t understand why Republicans still sit for interviews with these people. They have time and again proven to be partisan hacks that will twist their words to fit the narrative they want. The only way they will end this crap is if they stop enabling them.
Because Twitter and Facebook have higher standards for truth telling and have to ban Republican lies! Old media is dying for a reason.
What are you going to do? Use Twitter to talk directly to the people?
Oh, wait.
Really, the only way around it at this point is to refuse to sit for face-to-face interviews, tell the "reporters" to send a list of questions they want answers to, provide detailed responses, and release those responses through the office public affairs division.
There was a reason these people went apoplectic when Trump released the uncut version of the final media interview that he did with 60 Minutes. They know if people have access to the actual truth, the media comes off looking far worse than those they are targeting, every single time.
The military has a Public Affairs Office for that reason. Nothing was ever reported accurately.
A lot of the GOP members now demand full access to the tapes or to allow them to record the full interviews so they can counter these deceptive edits.
Which was a good idea. But the left has responded by trying to take away any platforms that they can use to release the full interview.
I’m afraid of how far this propaganda will go in the next five years.
That's not what happened here. CBS deceptively edited a press conference. Somehow they thought they could get away with that, as if nobody else had access to a press conference.
Wait, CBS is actually a democratic party PAC?
How can that be?
If you've been to Florida, you'd know there is a Publix everywhere...
Yes, and right inside, you will see a dozen people that have no business wearing swimwear in public.
But we don't mind, for two reasons; first we are polite, second tourists keep us from paying a state income tax.
Personally, I don’t mind ignoring several people that shouldn’t be dressed like that, in exchange for the occasional woman that should.
How do those Floridians stay so skinny?
Florida Man adores meth
I have to know...are they too far or too wrinkled for said swimsuits?
Fat. Autocorrect loves the chubs
When I was a kid, I used to watch 60 Minutes because they did some good stories but one time they did a story about something that my older sister happened to be personally involved in and she realized how horribly slanted the story was and I was smart enough to realize that if they couldn't be trusted on this story they probably couldn't be trusted on the rest of their stories either. And then 20/20 or whoever it was did the story about the pickup truck gas tanks exploding and got caught rigging the explosion and that was pretty good proof that it was all bullshit.
And that doesn't even get into Dan Rather and Brian Williams and Steven Glass and Janet Cooke. Liars and proven liars and how the hell did they get away with their shit for as long as they did?
Do you know what changed? You got old, dude.
Do you know what changed? You got stupid, lefty shit.

The Audi unintended acceleration issue turned me off to 60 Minutes since 1986.
No surprise that CBS and 60 Minutes did this. It's been their go-to for decades: to be lap-dogs for the DNC.
60 Minutes is flawed by general principle
Joe Isuzu was similarly 'flawed.'
As is Robby's assessment of CBS's action.
You lying little fuckstick.
How hard would it have been to describe CBSs actions as deceptive?
Do you honestly think it was accidental? No? Then call it what it is.
Deeply dishonest.
You euphemising only serves to minimize what they are doing.
Waterboy.
It's no different than Joe Biden "misspeaking" or giving "bungled responses" or making "misleading statements" whereas Donald Trump just flat-out lied.
The wind made him stumble on the stairs.
3 times.
Fact check: that wind was a breeze.
I’ve made this analogy before: Robby frequently gets that red pill all the way up to his lips, then tosses it aside at the last moment.
I think most states are using pharmacies to roll it out, so this is neither surprising nor original. But yeah CBS and especially the execrable 60 minutes gang of violent far left socialists don't care.
Wait for it...they will claim DeSantis is a Russian agent. It won't be long now.
Trust shmust. Did they sell all their advertising slots?
Even if they did, they probably aren't getting anywhere near the same rates as before. News ratings has dropped off a cliff in the last few months.
I am Jack's complete lack of surprise...
CBS News could have legitimately looked into the case for not giving Publix an exclusive distribution deal. There's an angle there that I wouldn't mind seeing investigated honestly. But instead 60 Minutes did what they seem to do now, which is peddle falsehoods with clever cuts instead of doing the work when the work might mean the narrative isn't what they want it to be.
"Remarkably, CBS cut this portion of DeSantis' response."
Remarkably? Really?
LOL, yeah, it wasn't "remarkable" at all. It was done very deliberately by the lying-ass media, just like the Sandmann video, to establish a specific narrative. CBS and NBC in particular have become completely open about the fact that they are carrying the Democrats' water.
At this point, the media is wrapping a blanket of lies around a smidgeon of truth and smothering it to death in the process.
Robby tells himself he's honest and is giving gentle criticism when all he's really doing is enabling.
This is Inspiring. https://www.thecosmostips.com/sdmoviespoint.html
MSM: put a fork in it
Progressivism is a religion, journalists are its parish priests, and those journalists who let facts get in the way of spreading the gospel are heretics.
And Apostasy is punished by death
WSJ:
The modern secularists who deride the hagridden mysticism of traditional religion are now the most devoted congregants in the First Church of Antiracism. Penitents line up to be shriven for their white privilege, bending the knee before the altar of justice and equity. They present pendants of the martyred St. George of Minneapolis for blessing from Hollywood prelates and Ivy League divines, solemnly chanting canticles from the Black Lives Matter breviary.
"So yes, you had the counties, you had some drive through sites, you had hospitals that were doing a lot, but we wanted to get it into communities more. The hell does 'raising your hand" even mean? "CVS had to finish their mission" before they raised their hand again? Give me a fucking break. I don't believe for one second Walmart wasn't ready to vaccine people. Why was Publix given exclusive rights to make money off vaccinations? And because "they raised their hand" is not a fucking reason.
Ching! Narrative backed. Collect your $.50.
Desantis collected 100k.
Do you get paid again for a second post, or are you expected to defend the thread you start? Does it invalidate the first post if you have to move the goalposts or retreat to the bailey?

I sound crazy?
Just trying to make sense of your insistence on coming to a libertarian news blog to regurgitate talking points from far more mainstream media outlets. Anyone predisposed to the lefty viewpoint never questioned 60 minutes. Nobody is at Reason researching the 'other side' of this story. Defending 60 Minutes packaged and polished narrative in this forum is irrational.
I suppose you could just be a passive aggressive asshole, here to give 'those libertarians' some shit for having the temerity to question their betters, but I was giving you the benefit of the doubt.

If you ever get out of the 6th grade, try reading the story, steaming pile of lefty shit
So, first of all, when we did, the first pharmacies that had it were CVS and Walgreens. And they had a long term care mission. So they were going to the long term care facilities. They got vaccines in the middle of December,
What exclusivity are you talking about? Because the facts say that CVS and Walgreen's got the vaccine first before Publix
CVS and Walgreens were awarded the exclusive right to vaccine nursing home patients. A special mission! Can't raise your hand again until you finish your mission!
It was not an exclusive right. But in December & January almost nobody else had vaccine to give. Once health departments got the vaccine homes could opt out of further participation and make other arrangements.
Well, yes, when the vaccinators you can spare are busy doing something else, you cannot also simultaneously assign them to a completely different set of vaccinations in entirely different locations.
Someone’s to stupid to realize that resources are finite, even the resources of CVS and Walgreens.
Thanks for admitting the vaccines are a cash grab for Big Pharma.
You're welcome. I have no problem paying private companies to bulid things or vaccinate people. The question is how these "special missions" are awarded and whether these "special missions" have anything to do with "special 100k campaign contributions".
If it's coming from your side, I'm already presuming there's nothing actually there.
Raised hand probably means that they were fully equipped, met state requirements, were ready to go, and finished negotiating whatever contracts needed to be signed between them and the state.
Publix is a tenth the size of Walmart and headquartered in Florida. It isn't too surprising that they would be more eager to work directly with the state, while Walmart focused on getting included in the Federal Pharmacy program.
Apparently the local health departments were just as ready to do it. But no, Mr. Republican had to give the vaccines to the local mega corp so they could make money. Fucking crooked mfers.
It was the local health departments that ran the drive through vaccination clinics. They started getting the vaccine even before Publix.
Fucking stupid lefty mfer posted this:
"Apparently the local health departments were just as ready to do it. But no, Mr. Republican had to give the vaccines to the local mega corp so they could make money. Fucking crooked mfers."
Given that it's his third year of 6th grade, I guess we can excuse the fucking lefty mfer for missing:
"But more importantly, the decision to have Publix coordinate vaccination was not even made by the governor's office. According to Jared Moskowitz, director of the Florida Division of Emergency Management, it was his offices that recommended Publix. Moskowitz, a Democrat, has said that Publix was the best store for the job, since it has more than 800 locations across the state."
Hey, fucking lefty mfer, take the next week or so to try reading that.
Irrelevant because I'll just keep copy-and-paste posting "DeSantis collected $100k."
PUBLIX has more than 800 locations in Florida. Walmart has about 350 locations in Florida.
True, but my point had more to do with the agility of the company. 2/3 of Publix are in Florida. Management can easily devote the attention required to get to an agreement. For Walmart, Florida is just one of many states that the multinational serves. Given that the feds were rolling out their own pharmacy program, it makes sense that they devoted their energy on that, instead of the Florida specific contract.
Palm Beach County (Democratic) Mayor Dave Kerner: “I watched the 60 Minutes segment on Palm Beach County last night and feel compelled to issue this statement. The report was not just based on bad information — it was intentionally false.”
Once again you prove your worthlessness as a human being. But you're a Prog, so no surprise there.
It was intentionally false? That's a bold statement that requires evidence.
He offered to be interviewed. CBS declined. Why would they do that? Because it fucks with the prog narrative.
That mfer was part of the deal to award the local mega corp the exclusive special mission so of course he's saying that. I'd like to know if Publix has given him any money. He's certainly aware that Desantis is getting paid.
And you have proof of that.
Kerner says, "giving Publix the vaccines" was his idea. That he suggested it to the Governor. I guess little old Publix didn't have anything to do with it. Just fell right into their lap. Which contradicts the old "raising their hand" story.
Given that it’s his third year of 6th grade, I guess we can excuse the fucking lefty mfer for missing:
“But more importantly, the decision to have Publix coordinate vaccination was not even made by the governor’s office. Hey, fucking lefty mfer, take the next week or so to try reading that.
If the media weren't making shit up, they'd have taken him up on his offer to be interviewed.
Dude, I'm with you on the media, left or right, having conflicts of interest.
And the fact they wouldn't take him up on his offer shows that they're lying their ass off.
DeSantis is being targeted for one reason and one reason only--because the media are terrified that he'll pick up the GOP populist mantle. His cleaning up of the election boards after the Democrats nearly ballot-stuffed a drug-addicted gigolo chaser into office is likely the reason that there was no election night drama in 2020. He's been pointedly thumbing his nose at all the COVID hygiene theater and media figures don't appreciate that he's made them look like hysterical idiots in the process.
He's being targeted because the media don't want a GOP candidate running in 2024 who might actually put up a fight. They want a milquetoast like Larry Hogan or Mitt Romney who will happily be the sacrificial lamb.
This.
:And the fact they wouldn’t take him up on his offer shows that they’re lying their ass off."
And the fact that pod continues to ignore it shows he's a lying pile of lefty shit.
I live in Broward county florida. Before this last election we still had the same election official from the famous 2000 election. We were routinely among the last counties in the nation to report results. Most of florida would report within hours of the close of the polls. Yet Democrat strongholds Broward and Palm Beach would take days.
Then DiSantis replaced our election commissioner. Magically, results in the next election were reported on time, within hours.
The state has had electionic voting for over a decade... Results should be available almost immediately. Yet until corrupt bureaucrats were replaced, somehow it took days. And elections were routinely magically close once these counties reported their late results. Not this time.
BTW... Reporting on that phenomenon will get you demonitized or banned on YouTube.
BTW… Reporting on that phenomenon will get you demonitized or banned on YouTube.
It's completely fucking obvious that Florida's quick results this time around was largely due to Brenda Snipes getting booted. That bitch was probably responsible for more voter fraud than Tammany.
"That’s a bold statement that requires evidence."
So does your allegation that there was a quid-pro-quo involved. Ball's in your court now.
A party politician will speak more plainly and honestly than a fucking Reason writer.

So....Alfonsi lied. Is that a surprise, really?
The mainstream media seems intent on peddling a false narrative that Florida's approach to the pandemic has been uniquely bad.
1) They don't want to run against DeSantis in 4 years.
2) Their tax bases are all fleeing to FL, and they can't abide that.
It's an accusation that doesn't really stand up to scrutiny
Time to question your own integrity, Mr. Soave. Can such an accusation ever be said to be credible?
Let's see if you have matured.
Here's a few accusations that are credible:
Your church's founder was a con artist.
Mormons lie all the time.
Your pervert god doesn't exist.
That last one is a goddamn fact!
2nd asshole flag.
The important thing here is we're no longer talking about Cuomo. Look at the big picture, sheeple!
They don't want to talk about Cuomo because the party allows for sexual harassment. They elected a serial harasser as our president after the failed attempt of electing an enabler.
And to think I used to watch 60 Minutes religiously. There is a reason that when Markopolis broke the story on Madoff, 60 Minutes was the only show he would talk to. How the mighty have fallen.
To be frank, this sounds like a transparent case for libel, as they deliberately cut most of the response to present a false narrative. If we had functional defamation law in this country, it would be a slam dunk.
Any port in a storm.
Public figure. Partisan courts. No chance.
The mainstream media seems intent on peddling a false narrative that Florida's approach to the pandemic has been uniquely bad.
This is what you do when your chosen horse groped and bullied the other horses and his secret, huge pile of manure is uncovered.
If only Cuomo had been more of a Mine That Bird instead of a Mr. Prospector and if his policies hadn't resulted in so many Barbaro outcomes.
60 Minutes has been a bunch of dishonest smear merchants pretty much from day one, what else is new?
No, 60 Minutes used to be better. In 1976 it exposed the dishonesty of the CDC regarding the swine flu vaccine. Of course it would never do this about the CDC today.
DeSantis is a current unofficial front-runner for POTUS 2024. Get used to the smear campaign that's coming.
To be sure.
Right. Does robbie not know that, or was the "weird fixation" comment at the end pretending?
robby, damn it
Too lazy to look it up, but can Florida go after CSB for unreported "in kind" contributions to the democrats?
Why would that only be relegated to CBS?
Always start with a slam dunk case to set precedent - - - - - -
CBS cut the part where DeSantis carefully explains why the reporter's narrative is wrong.
Wait... CBS 60 minutes was dishonest? Oh my...
....so how many times has this particular MO been exposed now?
Prior to last year, Publix, the state’s largest private company with about 800 Florida locations, was a heavy hitter come election season. Since 2010, Publix had delivered $4.5 million to candidates, committees and parties, both directly and through its contributions to the Florida Retail Federation, a closely affiliated political committee.
Sen. Joe Gruters, R-Sarasota, said he didn’t expect Publix to re-enter the political fray but he’s glad it has. Publix gave Gruters, the chairman of the Florida Republican Party, $1,000 on Feb. 22.
“You can’t sit on the sidelines and think you’re going to be able to accomplish your legislative goals at the end of the year,” Gruters said. “It’s like sticking your head in the sand. It doesn’t work. You gotta participate. They’re the largest employer in Florida and they have a lot to lose.”
Publix’s five-man lobbying team is working on about three dozen bills filed during the 2019 legislative session, according to state disclosure reports, including legislation related to pharmacies, workers’ compensation and trucking.
While Republicans have mostly benefited from Publix’s largess over the years, 13 of the 33 lawmakers to get a check from the company were Democrats. Many of those Democrats have worked alongside the same gun violence activists who called for the Publix boycotts.
Among those is Rep. Shevrin Jones, a Democrat representing West Park in Broward County and one of the loudest critics of state gun laws. Jones said Publix “is a staple in our state” and was appeased by the company’s political hiatus.
“I don’t think it would be fair for me to say whether or not the criticism [of Publix] was fair. I don’t speak down on anyone’s activism,” Jones said. “Our first amendment gives us that right to voice our concerns and protest things we don’t agree with. I’m more or less hopeful that during that time of reevaluation that they’ve looked at how they do these things going forward to make sure that kind of thing doesn’t happen again.”
Publix donated $1,000 to Jones’ campaign on Feb. 18.

While Republicans have mostly benefited from Publix’s largess over the years, 13 of the 33 lawmakers to get a check from the company were Democrats.
Fuckin' LOL. When 5% of Republicans sign on to a Democrat-led initiative, it's a "bipartisan" effort. When several politicians from both parties get donations from the state's largest employer, it's "mostly Republicans" who benefit.
I'm happy that you're laughing. And I will admit to not being completely nonpartisan sometimes. I favor Democratic policies, I know, I know. Big reveal. But I'm honest like that. It's just me being me.
But I’m honest like that. It’s just me being me.
Bitch, there ain't nothing honest about you except the admission that you're a BlueAnon shill.
"just 13 of 33" is a 20 to 13 advantage. That is just 3 races from 50-50. But this is not a 50-50 state... And that stat only includes winners. I wonder how many losers they backed? I wonder if they didn't cover their bases by backing both horses in most races?
Big companies don't make an impact by donating a grand to an individual candidate. They give a few million to a PAC. Their executives give to one candidate en mass. That is where the impact is.
Doesn't matter at this point, anyway. Even Florida Dems are calling the piece "deceptive reporting."
CBS really fucked up by reporting in such an openly partisan manner. Now Republicans know for sure that they are bad-faith actors and can't be trusted to tell the truth (as if Rathergate shouldn't have driven that home years ago).
Robbie, the English language has words with specific meanings, even today.
"Deeply flawed" is not the phrase you are looking for.
"Total bullshit" is much more specific and accurate.
Using less extreme language makes your opposition more willing to read your story. Once you read the full quote versus the excerpt that was published, it's really indefensible.
Someday 60 Minutes will want to do a story on something and they won't be able to because no one will talk to them.
Would that actually show them down? They would just ominously state that the subject "refused to talk to us or dispute the allegations" and then take public statements out of context, rather than the interview.
It is not flawed, it is a LIE! Yet far left, loony liberal unReason will never say that.
I think the Dems are scared Ron DeSantis will kick their ass in 2024, so they're firing up the outrage engines to 11 right now. I hope he runs, because he's doing a great job here in Florida.
Why is it surprising that a disingenuous news reporter cuts an explanation that does not fit their narrative?
Well howdy!!! 60 Minutes doing what MSM has been doing since the 2016 election of Donald J. Trump as #45 President — LYING! Nothing has changed with the liberal socialist communist MSM - Protect the demented wh res & continue the outrageous lies about all conservative Republicans. Did y’all know that the wh res dog, Major, bit another person at the wh? He does it again & animal control will pick him up for sleep time & a good discussion with Jesus re: Not biting. Unless, the good ole demented one either 1) sends Major back to Delaware for good or 2) decides that as he is prez, albeit a bit off, he & his, including animals of the 2 legged & 4 legged kind, are above the law & therefore can do Whatsoever They Want, up to & including sedition with our enemy & biting any one they want..
Hey, if you can't trust the lying assholes who awakened us to the dangers of Alar, who can you trust? Pod?
"...CBS-TV aired the program that featured the misbegotten segment on February 26, 1989. "'A' Is for Apple" symbolized by an image of an apple with a superimposed skull and crossbones began with correspondent Ed Bradley's assertion about daminozide (which he mistermed a pesticide): "The most potent cancer-causing agent in our food supply is a substance sprayed on apples to keep them on the trees longer and make them look better." No one challenged this assertion on the program. The segment even included footage of a pediatric cancer ward. "Go to a cancer ward at any children's hospital in this country," advised Rep. Gerry Sikorski. "See these bald, wasting-away kids..."

The first firm reports of asbestos-related cancer came from German doctors in the late 1930s. At the time, American and English doctors were still reluctant to make such a claim.
By the 1960s, serious diseases like mesothelioma were firmly established as being caused by asbestos exposure. Studies were even done regarding non-occupational asbestos exposure, sometimes called secondary exposure. Most of these studies were related to the families of those who worked with asbestos.
Since those early studies, there have been several more clinical trials and studies done on the toxicity of asbestos. In many countries, asbestos is now banned or heavily regulated because of its carcinogenic and toxic properties. The World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Labor Organization (ILO) have condemned its use.
Despite this, there are still a handful of developing countries (assholes like Sevo no doubt) that continue to use asbestos and expose their workers to it. Its perpetuated use continues to stir controversy. Many doctors and researchers predict that the number of people who develop asbestos-related disease has yet to peak in these countries

As usual the fat ass lard butt that posts under this user name confuses asbestos and alar. And manages to just post some internet bullshit to prove his weak point. Laughable.
Get a job hippie.

If anyone on this comment board thought that explanation was anything but double-talk that person will fall for anything scumbags like DeSantis says. What is it about rightwingers' need to be lied to?
The Simpsons predicted this type of "Journalism" as well

Note the time on the clock.
I'm sure CBS will shrug off the criticism. But the bigger threat is coming soon --- deep fake video. Soon, 60 minutes will be showing completely fabricated interviews created with deep fake technology. As long as their viewer ratings don't suffer, they'll shrug off criticism of that also.
It would be more surprising to hear the left's ally the fake news tell the truth. Occasionally I will actually read one of their headlines but I am never sucker enough to read the story. I go where you can rely on getting the actual facts.
The left hates DeSantis because they see him annihilating their candidate if he runs for President. They are simply doing their dirty work early. Remember the racist remark that bounced around the outraged leftist rags when he was running against their start Gillum? He said "gulp" don't monkey around with that.
The Daily Show with self-satisfied Trevor Noah as host would anything say anything is nevertheless entertaining?boarding schools in delhi ncr
