Brickbat: You Can't Get There from Here

In Birchington, England, David Mitchell logged onto the National Health Service website to see about getting a COVID-19 vaccine. He was perplexed to find that the closest location listed as providing the vaccine was in Swindon. That's 153 miles away from his home, though the website said it was 23.1 miles away. So Mitchell clicked on a link for a map and saw that it directed him to the middle of the North Sea.

They were telling him to go jump in a lake, they didn't give a shit.
or to take a very long walk off a non-existent pier.
The NHS death panels have finally come for him.
It's the only way to ensure he doesn't become a super spreader.
No wonder they have problems with vaccine distribution.
Wanna bet that some dim-bulb but obedient NHS bureaucrat is sitting in a rowboat off-shore with a cooler full of doses?
You must think the NHS is some kind of second rate, Mickey mouse operation. They've got the full support and resources of the British government. As soon they learned of the mistake, they jumped to corrective action and sent that bureaucrat a yacht.
I hope that was a green yacht, powered by a solar panel or two.
I glanced at the URL and saw this is actually the second Brickbat with this title.

My birthday
Without getting into the technical details, I knew a guy who worked on the NHS database software. It was a total disaster he told me. Technologies suitable for a small business were rolled out to support an entire nation's health service. But nothing could be changed because there were standards to comply with. So he did his work in between the standards and got a four to fivefold improvement in search times. He thought that they could get a ten fold improvement merely by tossing the 1998s era "Web Programming For Dummies" book they had enshrined into the standards.
Hey, if it ain't broke don't fix it. Oh, wait...
If it is broke, publish the regulations to keep everything as it is, and demand more funding.
