Chicago Teachers Union: 'The Push To Reopen Schools Is Rooted in Sexism, Racism, and Misogyny'
No one has fought harder to keep kids out of the classroom than teachers unions.

The Chicago Teachers Union, which represents more than 28,000 educators in the nation's third largest city, tweeted on Sunday: "The push to reopen schools is rooted in sexism, racism and misogyny."
That was the entire tweet; the union provided no additional comment or clarifying statement. There was no acknowledgment that many people who argue schools should reopen are doing so in good faith. A spokesperson for the union did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
To say that sexism, racism, or any other -ism is at the "root" of the (thus far unsuccessful) reopening push is absurd and insulting. Stressed-out parents who want to send their kids back to the classroom are not motivated by animus toward teachers, and they are certainly not motivated by animus toward women or minorities. Indeed, many people who want schools to reopen are women and minorities. Pandemic-related closures have disproportionately affected inner-city families that rely on public education. Young kids of color are some of the hardest hit. More than 800,000 women have dropped out of the work force during the pandemic, in large part because they now have to take care of their kids.
Given this reality, it would be more accurate to say that the push to keep schools closed is racist and sexist—though the root cause of the continuing closures is not racism or sexism, but rather the tremendous political power of teachers unions, who have lobbied district officials to stick with virtual education even as other essential employees return to work. Public school teachers, after all, continue to receive a paycheck regardless, which means their union has very little incentive to take any risk whatsoever, no matter how substandard the quality of remote education might be.
It's worth recalling that the effort to keep schools closed is not grounded in science: Everyone from Anthony Fauci to Sen. Rand Paul (R–Ky.) agrees that many districts should move toward reopening on a case-by-case basis. The evidence shows that classrooms are not a significant source of spread for COVID-19.
If public educators are unwilling to provide the sort of education that families want and children need, then it would be preferable to return the money so that parents could make informed choices about schooling—and be able to pay for it. There's nothing racist or sexist about that. Quite the contrary.
Update: The tweet has been deleted.

Are you new to politics?
Republicans want something. Republicans are racist, sexist, misogynist. Therefore what Republicans want is racist, sexist, misogynist (though isn't that sexist twice? They probably meant transphobic)
Simple as that.
I laugh when White men claim that calling something racist is "absurd". I guess you just woke up and forget the history of this country since at least 1619.
And Reason seems to be lacking in the critical thinking department. If racism can be demonstrated to be at the root of most everything relating to the unequal treatment of students in this country up until 2020, why do White people have such a difficult time believing it still might be a root cause? Or maybe segregation and the push for private schools and school vouchers has nothing to do with racism. Strange, so many White people are on record saying they don't want to send their children to school with Black people.
Or, maybe you guys are all like Trump and believe what you say because you said it as opposed to, you know, reality. Has "Reason" lost touch with reality? Is Soave going to provide any factual evidence to show that the push to reopen is NOT based in racism? Or is he just going to quote two White men and think he is done? Basic logic dictates that if you are going to refute a point, you bring facts to the table to prove your side.
Maybe people who write for Reason don't need to worry about facts...
Can we get a Poe's law check on this?
What is a Poe's law check?
And do any of the White men here have any facts to support Soave's claim that racism is not a fundamental reason White people are comfortable forcing Black people (and specifically Black and White teachers who teach Black children) to go back to work while a far great percentage of these White men get to stay home and isolate? Or is everyone just going to wave their hands in the air and say; "There is no racism here!" and quote other White men who say the same thing?
Apparently you need to get back to school as well, since you don’t understand the word racism.
The word has been abused to such an extent that its original definition has become archaic. Today it means only one thing, if you disagree with me you are a racist. Facts have no merit the truth is pure abstraction, reason is disallowed. Consequently any argument is ended not on merit but by declaration you are a racist. The only thing more idiotic than the declaration, would be to accept such a foolish declaration period. Rant on fools. We certainly are not listening.
They wore out the word "racist" about three years ago. Had to switch over to "white supremacist" to get the same buzz.
I quit working at shop rite and now I make $65-85 per/h. How? I'm working online! My work did not exactly make me happy so I decided to take a chance on something new… after 4 years it was so hard to quit my day job but now I couldn't be happier. Here’s what I do… USA ONLINE JOBS
Not sure how to define "racism". "Racist" is pretty easy to define though. A racist is anyone winning an argument with a Progressive.
[ PART TIME JOB FOR USA ] Making money online more than 15$ just by doing simple work from home. I have received $18376 last month. Its an easy and simple job to do and its earnings are much better than regular office job and even a little child can do this and earns money. Everybody must try this job by just use the info

But srsly if you do a parody in the future be better.
Sounds like Talcum X
Well, you are being pretty racist, so there's some racism somewhere.
HEY Deep Thinker -- Ol' Whitey "gets" to self-isolate and have wild parties at home so there are no hurt feelings. I've heard they have wild mass bashes where they secretly invite large numbers of all races, colors, and creeds to drink, dope, dine and dance WITHOUT MASKS.
You can report them by calling 1-800-COVID-SNITCH.
There is no racism here.
There's lots of racism, and centered in the openly racist Democratic Party. We can discuss it any time you like.
We could always cut the pay of teachers who won't go to work.
Have you not heard ? Work is slavery and therefore a form of racism.
The white arch-feminists and their allies who control the teachers' union don't want black kids to get a decent education and pander to the members' desire to stay at home with full pay until it is completely safe, which will be never.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure that was a parody - and a very poor one.
Not up to the usual high standards of the Reason comment section, which proudly supports the finest purveyors of sarcasm.
Elizabeth Warren now thinks student loans are racist.
Fine, no more student loans for "Black & brown" students.
Why did our society ever think minority people could understand the concept of paying back borrowed money. That's white ppl stuff.
We're sorry...
A "for a magazine called Reason" comment on Monday morning?
Too early to start drinking, even for me.
I feel like it might be a fact.
"Is Soave going to provide any factual evidence to show that the push to reopen is NOT based in racism?"
Where is your proof that it is? Comes across as anything to do with racism or sexism is just prima facie and the burden is on the accused to prove their innocence.
I call bullshit on it; prove me wrong and not with foregone and false assumptions about the 1619 Project.
You forgot the part about how rich white men invented slavery at Jamestown and then manipulated global economics since then.
(Any claims that slavery existed before and/or elsewhere are alt-right propaganda.)
Racism is a significant root cause of the problems of racial inequality, particularly for blacks. That doesn't mean that racism today is a primary reason for the continuing inequality. As long as people keep trying to make it all about racism, the problems that contribute most to continuing black poverty and inequality will never be addressed.
How come racism and being black doesn't hold back Nigerian-Americans? Their average household income is higher than that of whites. How is that possible in a land of systemic racism?
Strange, so many White people are on record saying they don’t want to send their children to school with Black people.
Don't worry, they'll get to find out how evil they are from Fellow White People when they go to college.
The only white person I've heard make any such comment is President-elect Biden referring to Delaware's "racial jungle" when explaining why his kids all went to private school...
I guess he didn't want his kids playing with "Corn Pop's" kids!
Just A Thought
Clearly that refers to your lifetime allotment.
Is Soave going to provide any factual evidence to show that the push to reopen is NOT based in racism?
Yes, right after you provide proof that you're not a pedophile.
wuzyoung...good god thank you or calling bullshit on that bullshit
I laugh when people rebut points nobody made because they've admitted to themselves that they can't answer the argument. Although the word "absurd" does appear in the article, it never remotely suggests that it's absurd to call ANYTHING racist. Quite the reverse, it says that keeping the schools CLOSED is racist and sexist.
I have no trouble believing racism exists. The Democratic Party is openly racist. They support rioters because of their skin color and dislike the victims because of theirs. Their main gripe against the country for years has been dislike of the skin color of the majority. They don't like America because "America is white people", which is about as racist as you can get without a prescription. Non-white Americans would hotly dispute that.
Of course racism exists, it's just that racists have learned to at least pretend to be against it, and to accuse everyone else. Racist Joe Biden's entire campaign, in his own words, was based on the Charlottesville Lie, which gave aid and comfort to white supremacists by telling them they had millions of allies.
No white people that you can name are on record saying they don't want to send their children to school with black ones. Hillary Clinton does live in a 99% white community, but I doubt you withheld your vote because of that.
1619 not the year that slavery came to the Americas. Slavery pre-dated Columbus. African Slavery goes back to about 1509. Slavery in the present day US goes back to Saint Augustine in 1575. 1619 is just the spiritual founding date of the Democratic Party.
So, apart from rebutting a point nobody made (what I call "argumentum ad fictulum"), what is your point?
Spoken like a true American hating leftist, comrade.....
You mean all those white leftists who talk about tolerance and send their kids to private schools because they think the public schools are incapable of educating their children? Education is too important to be left to unions. Unions should be abolished and public schools should be run by elected officials who can be held accountable for the sorry state of public education that prevails in America today.
As a brown immigrant myself it is clear that woke White people are useful idiots for the left. Great article by a 19 year old Sikh Canadian https://nypost.com/2020/07/11/the-fallacy-of-white-privilege-and-how-its-corroding-society/?utm_source=facebook_sitebuttons&utm_medium=site%20buttons&utm_campaign=site%20buttons
The bigotry and racism I see here is yours. It consumes your thoughts and oozes from your pores. That is unfortunate.
So many white people on record saying they don’t want to send their kids to school with Black kids? What record are you quoting! Alabama circa 1950?
1. Barbary Slave Trade
2. The Irish slave trade began when 30,000 Irish prisoners were sold as slaves to the New World. The King James I Proclamation of 1625 required Irish political prisoners be sent overseas and sold to English settlers in the West Indies. By the mid 1600s, the Irish were the main slaves sold to Antigua and Montserrat. At that time, 70% of the total population of Montserrat were Irish slaves
3. The first legal slave owner in America was black and he owned white slaves.
Anthony Johnson (AD 1600 – 1670) was an Angolan who achieved freedom in the early 17th century Colony of Virginia.
You aren't special. You are oppressed.
Get over yourself. Get over the notion that blacks were the only slaves. The word SLAVE is from the Slav's.. which were white. Every. Single. Race. Has. Been. Enslaved. So STFU
"...since at least 1619."
*sniff, sniff*
Ah, yes, the putrid stench of NYT bullshit piles!
" If racism can be demonstrated to be at the root of most everything relating to the unequal treatment of students in this country up until 2020,"
That's a big "If" and it has not been demonstrated to my satisfaction.
I only hear people desperately trying to prove something sketchy and in my experience, that NEVER leads to the truth of any matter.
If public educators are unwilling to provide the sort of education that families want and children need, then it would be preferable to return the money so that parents could make informed choices about schooling—and be able to pay for it.
I’m going to guess that the Chicago Teachers Union doesn’t agree with this self-evident argument for school vouchers.
Government schools are a monopoly and should be broken up. The teachers Union is in breach of RICO and it’s officers should be behind bars.
Amen.
It's clear that teachers unions care as much about children as socialists care about workers.
That's gotta be a pretty exact equivalence.
"The push to reopen schools is rooted in sexism, racism and misogyny."
Translation: We have good intentions, therefore anyone who disagrees with us must have bad intentions.
I challenge the notion that they have good intentions. In fact, I doubt even they think they have good intentions.
As always with progressives it’s both. The people running the union know their intentions are selfish and political. Your average brainwashed middle school teacher thinks this all for the best.
This only applies if “good intentions” means “we don’t want to have to go back to work, but still want to get paid “.
That was basically why you preferred your bae to Trump.
"He sent mean tweets! He was unpresidential!"
Certainly better than being a dog-botherer who managed to break his foot while trying to get some action, at least. The dim and ideologically driven are going to find out what lesser of two evils when facing horrendous policy versus some shit they made up about Trump.
Muh norms!
“The push to reopen schools is rooted in sexism, racism and misogyny.”
They forgot homophobia! What’s homophobia—chopped liver? And these people call themselves SJWs!
Good catch, and they also missed transphobia.
Better translation: we read Alinsky and other guides to propaganda and will say anything to manipulate the media and public opinion to serve our selfish agenda.
It's a shame the science isn't on their side - schools are about the safest places on the planet.
Teachers don’t know the meaning of words.

But the leftist union and leftist teachers know what's best for "those people". Totally not racist or sexist at all.
To be fair, public schools have been failing black folks for quite some time now...
"Shutter public schools to fight racism!"
Since there's no way a Chicago Mayor is going to go Full Reagan to solve this, perhaps parents should start staging protests ("peaceful" ones), in front of the homes of teachers.
I'd applaud if parents would storm the schools, open the doors, and teach their kids what "responsibility" means. I can just see the National Guard called out to arrest all those parents. Wait, no I can't. If enough parents took over their schools that way, the government wouldn't dare try to oust them or keep them out, and the teachers union reactions would be priceless.
They'd be better off storming and holding the administrative buildings.
I would be more than happy to send my two kids to the head of the teachers union house after they’ve each chugged a 2 liter bottle of Coke and eaten a pound of Skittles.
Double dip into the racism schtick. So teaching kids anything except left wing bullshit becomes racist. Which means you’re full of fucking nonsense. Guess what nobody cares if you succeed and the folks running things hope you fail hard. Eat it. And fuck you every democrat ever.
"The push to reopen schools is rooted in sexism, racism and misogyny."
C'mon man, get with the program! It's colonialism, patriarchy and white supremacy. Sexism, racism, and misogyny is so 2016.
If you want to be a little edgy, throw in transphobic and suburbanist and ecodenialism. I don't know what those last two things are, I just made them up, but they sure sound good, don't they?
I read that last one at first as "ecodentalism". Which sounds just as good.
Ecodentalism is a concept you can really sink your teeth into.
Sadly ecodenialism is a thing
https://www.pressreader.com/south-africa/business-day/20150220/282123519951617
It's not enough to deny these lying allegations, it's necessary to make the allegations themselves the issue - "if they're willing to lie about this, what else are they lying to us about? I'd say pretty much everything."
Their reason for existence is a lie, both as a union, and as teachers.
It was obvious to me since the 1990's.
My kid's school has been open since late August.
Even mid November when Iowa was allegedly among the worst places to be for getting sick my kid's school never had more than a 3% absentee rate from all causes, which is normal for November
But all the teachers died of COVID, right?
Nearly 100% casualty rate of course.
Please post the results in late January.
I hope you are all safe. Statistics (you know, reason) says that you won't be. Best of luck to you though. This thing doesn't care if you believe it is real or not.
Bet you are fun at parties.
Statistics say that we will likely be just fine. It is abundantly clear that the overwhelming majority of people have nothing to worry about.
Here's how things stand in Iowa today.
Despite the lack of illegal, universal house arrest orders that The Science™ says is necessary, "cases" began dropping a few days before the governor made the few feeble orders she ultimately made (superfluous orders as every business has required people put the useless T-shirt material on their faces for months)
Were about 50% below the peak for daily new 'cases' and hospitalizations are falling rapidly as well, likely dropping to 50% of peak by Wednesday.
https://coronavirus.iowa.gov/pages/hospitalization-analysis
Peak: 11/17 - 1527 Hospitalizations
Today: 99 even
The rate of "with covid" vs "of covid" continues to hover around 30/70.
Gah that should say "900 even"
If you're following along at home, that's a 31% drop.
Fun fact: Most people that constantly include things like "logic dictates", "according to reason", etc are usually either a teenager who just took their first philosophy course, or they are on the intellectual level of the aforementioned.
Statistics thus far show that if the people DaveSs referred to perfectly represent the population (they dont), that a small number of them would get Covid, and of those who did, <1% would die from it. Of course, the elderly are the main ones of that <1% in the actual population heavily weighing the death figure, and with significantly less of them (those referred to would certainly shift the curve to a much younger overall demographic), you would be in more danger driving in a car anywhere than of dying of COVID.
If you want to stay inside with your safety blanket please feel free. The rest of the country needs to proceed to live our lives in some sort of reasonable fashion.
Nice.
So out of the 3 million people in Iowa, you are cool with only 30,000 dying in a single year. That's a little less than half the USA souls who died in Vietnam over 21 years.
I wonder what you will be saying when it is someone you love. Marie Antoinette seems like a saint compared to folks wanting to sacrifice the lives of teachers so they can make a profit. Bet you guys are all "Right To Lifers" too. No hypocrisy here.
Fuck off Tony.
The lockdowns, masks, and social distancing do not, and have never been claimed to prevent even a single death. They merely change the rapidity of the spread and adjust whom might get the big bug. Fool.
Yes, I'm ok with that because that's how death works. Many of the people dying of (or with) COVID have underlying conditions that were going to cut their lives short anyway. Many of these people were going to die soon, COVID or not.
Now look at the damage done by the lockdowns. Tens of millions unemployed. Tens of thousands of small businesses shuttered forever, their owners financially ruined. You're basically arguing that tens of millions of young, healthy people should have their lives completed disrupted for 2+ years so that hundreds of thousands of sick, elderly people can live a few extra months. Are you really ok with that?
And we're not even getting into all the "excess" deaths caused by the lockdowns due to depression, delayed health screenings and reduced economic activity, disrupted supply chains for vial goods. In the end we're probably going to find that the lockdowns killed more people than they saved and financially ruined many, many more than that.
Its not so much "being ok with it" as it is recognizing reality - no matter what is done, the end result will not change, at best only be delayed a couple months.
What can be avoided is the collateral damage politicians are causing by heavy handed attempts at preventing the unpreventable.
Um, not even 3000 have died in Iowa. You think that's going to increase 10-fold in the next 4 months? You're full of shit.
Not all deaths are equal and the comparison to soldiers dying in war is absurd and insulting. Old sick people dying is not really a tragedy. It's not a nice thing, but being old and sick means you are going to die soon. Of course that isn't absolutely all of the deaths, but it is the great majority.
"Um, not even 3000 have died in Iowa."
Of Covid. Iowa's annual deaths (all cause) would be around 30K.
"That’s a little less than half the USA souls who died in Vietnam over 21 years."
Pulled that out of your ass, did you?
WTF is that supposed to mean?
I am cool with about 3 million Americans dying in a single year, because THAT'S WHAT FUCKING HAPPENS.
People are born, live for a while, and die. And COVID has not really changed any of that, especially the "for a while" part.
Come back to us when you learn more about the human life cycle. Or maybe when a truly tragic pandemic, like a disease that differentially kills young people, strikes the population.
"So out of the 3 million people in Iowa, you are cool with only 30,000 dying in a single year."
30,000 die in Iowa every year (all causes). That's perfectly normal and mostly unpreventable.
So out of the 3 million people in Iowa, you are cool with only 30,000 dying in a single year. That’s a little less than half the USA souls who died in Vietnam over 21 years.
At a case fatality rate of ~1% (even though it's really lower than that) , every single living human being in Iowa would need to be infected with Covid in 1 year in order for 30K of them to die from it in one year.
You're not very bright, are you?
You're a fucking moron.
Death rate continues to hover right around 100%. That includes YOU, and now I feel better.
Keep playing the trump card that you don't think ANYONE should die, and carefully avoid the glaring holes in the crap you say. And no, I'm not going to bother to point them out. I'm perfectly comfortable with you presenting as equal parts mendacious and stupid.
Bull. Statistics say you're most likely to be perfectly fine even if you catch COVID.
If you're under that age of 10 or so, chances are about 99.998% that you survive COVID infection (0.002% mortality rate). At 25 years old, chances are 99.99% (0.01% mortality rate). At age 55, you have a 99.6% chance of surviving a COVID infection (0.4% mortality rate). Even at 85+ years of age, you're far more likely to survive COVID than not (85% survival rate, 15% mortality).
Given that there are few 85-year-olds in schools, statistics say chances are pretty good that even if you get COVID, you'll almost certainly survive it.
Similar statistics exist that show that chances are that if you get COVID, you may not even get sick enough to notice, or if you do get sick enough to notice, the symptoms will be very mild. Only a very small fraction of people infected with COVID need medical care, a small fraction of those needing medical care will require hospitalization, and a small fraction of those requiring hospitalization will require extreme care (e.g. ICU). And those needing the extreme medical care are almost certainly coming from the elderly population.
Further, better understanding of the virus and treatments have cut the functional death rate among hospitalized patients markedly. he chance of death for someone hospitalized for the coronavirus in those hospitals (NYC hospitals studied) dropped from an adjusted 25.6% in March to 7.6% in August.
So you're all a bunch of sexists, racists and misogynists, right?
Sure. What ev.
I don't bother to keep up with the new, modified, definitions, so I don't care any more.
Apparently, the tweet has now been deleted. Whoever did this will shortly be canceled by the Chicago teacher’s union.
I suspect not - my guess is the person keeps their union position, and there will be an embargo against any mention of this little incident. Except in right-wing anti-education propaganda outlets who obsessively pounce on every deleted Tweet just to make trouble rather than look out for the interests of teh Children.
/sarc
Nobody will be cancelled. Being a Democrat means never having to say you're wrong, unless another Democrat is out to get you.
It's still in The Internet Archive.

I don't donate to many causes, but I gave to those guys. Also the IFJ.
I know some people are going to disagree, but this sort of thing is why I'm against public sector unions. They are so completely insulated from any sort of market pressure, and don't even answer to voters in any meaningful way. So you end up with crap like this, where a bunch of people want to close down their own sector of the economy, and still get paid.
On the other hand, you do not see steel worker unions arguing to shutter the steel mills, or carpenter's unions looking to shut down all construction sites, do you?
Steelworkers and carpenters don't get paid if they don't go to work.
Yes, that's an example of a market pressure.
The main issue with public sector unions is the very tight loop of political corruption. Mayor gets teachers a increase in pensions, teachers contribute directly to the Mayoral campaign. No middle man just quid pro quo in the shortest number of steps possible.
They would if they could still get paid.
So anyone who opposes them from the right is racist and/or sexist?
Sounds like a Reason writer.
"We say it, not being facetiously or having a soundbite or anything, but you know: close the bars, keep the schools open, is what we really say," Fauci said. "Obviously, you don't have one size fits all, but as I've said in the past, and as you accurately quoted me – the default position should be as best as possible, within reason, to keep the children in school and get them back to school."

This tweet makes one wonder if the teacher’s union members were ever even potty trained? What’s sadder is that I personally know some progtards who believe this shit that “we can’t expose our teachers to COvid”, even though the science says otherwise.
Fuck the left and democrats to hell.
On the one hand Robby is right if you believe that public schools should be open in a pandemic because of the relatively low risk but on the other the best possible outcome is that the public schools never, ever reopen again and the property tax revenues are ultimately redirected as educational vouchers.
Neither is what we would call even a "moderate" libertarian position which is to totally abolish involuntary schooling and get the government wholly OUT of the education business. I could tolerate a little squishiness on this if it was confined to state or, better yet, local municipalities choosing to fund some minimal voluntary literacy (language, math and civic) instruction.
Fuck schools.
Sexism? Yes please
Racism? Lie the human race? That's cool.
and Misogyny, I don't know what that is but gyn probably means pussy so as long as the cunt it's connected to ain't invited to the party I'm cool with that.
Here's a simple solution: If black and female teachers don't want to return to the classroom, they don't have to. And, if the parents of black and female students don't want their kids to return, then they don't have to either. You can end up with a school full of white male teachers and white boys, just like the "good ol'" days.
Seriously, this silliness about calling everything racist went past its Sell By date about three years ago., Now, it's just farce.
Completely farce, and evident in your reply, totally shifts attention from the real issue. You seem to basically suggest to just reopen, and any viral spread that results can be dealt with accordingly?
Kind of sounds as silly and unserious as you condescendingly put it of the union.
OTOH, if you think the school system feeding propaganda to students, then keeping teachers away from kids is a good thing. By all accounts, online learning is a very distasteful experience. It can't help but lower students' opinion of what they're being taught.
"...then it would be preferable to return the money so that parents could make informed choices about schooling"
Hit 'em where it hurts. Sure, they want to not go to work and continue to be paid, which of course is a fundamental human right; by that specious reasoning, "forcing" Chicago teachers to go to work to earn their pay is racist, sexist, and misogynistic.
I think I might be catching onto this game. I can only imagine what it would mean if parents were to send their kids to charter schools. All out colonialism?
The continuing irrelevance of the Public Sector Unions.
My father taught in public schools for 45 years. He was not a member of the teachers unions, but according to state and federal law, he still had to pay union dues and say "sir" to the union boss. Those laws were recently tossed out, and I'm sure he rested easier in his grave knowing that.
My father was never a political person. Never worshiped any politician, left or right. So it pained him every time he saw a CTA newsletter showing his his "dues" were being spent on supporting candidates and issues he did not agree with.
My father is the main reason I hate public sector unions. The whole point of unions is a socialist idea, to defend the workers from the evil capitalists. But government is not capitalist. Teachers are among the best paid workers outside of the tech industry. Solidly in the middle of the middle class. They're not abused workers. Yes, it can be a stressful job, but no more stressful than many others. The public sector doesn't need unions as there is not capitalist expropriating their excess labor.
But who did he vote for last month?
No one. My father is dead.
Er, which is it? That he's dead, or that he didn't vote for Biden?
Google is by and by paying $27485 to $29658 consistently for taking a shot at the web from home. I have joined this action 2 months vfr back and I have earned $28775 in my first month from this action. I can say my life is improved completely! Take a gander at it what I do ........ Visit Here
I assume that the tweet has now been deleted because it would put Biden in a potential bind or, at the very least, in a potentially awkward position.
Let's focus on the Libertarian/Progressive alliance.
I'm all for sodomy. But we should not expect any new life to come out of this.
(I am not really for sodomy. Gross)
(also i know youre joking)
"...That was the entire tweet; the union provided no additional comment or clarifying statement..."
Well, how could you possibly improve on it?
As long as we stop paying them I'm ok with them staying home.
The push to reopen schools is for the physical and mental health of the students, and to put the students back on a positive learning curve. Video instruction simply does not work for most children and adolescents. They need to be socializing among their peers, and working with each other. Children are the least effected and least infected by contact with the virus. They are the lowest risk group. Very pointedly the scientists make the point that the numbers have always shown the mere presence of the virus in a positive test does not make a clinical case. I'm in the highest risk group being 78 and collecting a disability pension and being out of physical condition. So I need to be careful and take all of the precautions. Fortunately I am not sequestered with a house full of people as families are. That causes the infestation of the virus within the dwelling to increase thus increasing the risk for all. The survivability rate for people under 60 is now 99.8% overall with places such as NYC being more like 95% with large numbers of people sequestered in tight quarters. Sequestration of the public is not a power that mayors or governors have. The mayors and governors doing so are setting themselves up for class action federal lawsuits for denial of civil and inalienable rights. I would like to see these loggerheads get a comeuppance of severe consequences for their actions.
The real evil here is teachers unions and the teachers that support them.
Teachers' Union, n.: A conspiracy to simultaneously funnel public money to members of the petit bourgeois too stupid to be gainfully employed and to deny an education to urban youth.
LOL. Did Twitter fact check that Tweet? Does it come with a warning?
I wonder how long before they demand a pay raise for all their hard work in their efforts to avoid going back to teaching in a classroom.
I suggest the motivation for the teachers union to opposing opening schools is that the members are enjoying sitting at home and getting paid. Stop the pay anyway policy and see their attitude.
Yes!
Sometimes the writers at The Onion get to take a break and just publish occurrences from the real world.

that might be the most perfect example EVER of what i call a Twitter Puke. all teachers concerned for their safety are encouraged to go on leave or resign. in my town the line to replace them will be 100 deep. YOUR concern for YOUR health is not MY problem. MY kid will not be infecting you if you stay at home and let someone that wants to do the job.
You know, if by law Teachers didn't get paid if kids aren't in school when they should be, I'm pretty sure the Union would be all about getting the kids back in school, instead of all these bullshit excuses to not do their fucking jobs, jobs we're fucking paying them to do.
The thing keeping students out of the classroom is teachers getting paid. If they were furloughed and/or laid off as so many others that were forced to close the issue would resolve itself in the time it took me to type this post.
Another perfect example of why all unions should be outlawed.
Wow. Soon asking people to pull their pants up or to not talk during a movie will be racist!
