Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine Is 90% Effective
And there looks to be more good vaccine news coming.

We have preliminary results from a randomized control trial of a COVID-19 vaccine developed jointly by the pharmaceutical companies Pfizer and BioNTech. The news is good: The vaccine appears to be 90 percent effective in preventing infections caused by the coronavirus.
This is especially welcome news right now, since diagnosed cases are accelerating in many countries around the world, including the United States and most of Europe. The vaccine requires two doses and becomes effective 7 days after the second injection, according to the companies. The Data Monitoring Committee overseeing the trial has not reported any serious safety concerns.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has required the companies to follow trial participants for two months to collect further data on the safety of the vaccines. Pfizer and BioNTech report that additional safety data will be available by the third week of November. If all is well, the companies will seek an Emergency Use Authorization from the FDA, enabling them to deploy the vaccine before the end of the year. The companies project that they can produce up to 50 million vaccine doses globally in 2020 (enough to treat 25 million people) and up to 1.3 billion doses in 2021 (enough to treat 650 million people).
The Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine involves a synthetic version of the messenger RNA (mRNA) that the coronavirus uses to construct the proteins that let it infect human cells. The injected mRNA tricks the body into making some of the viral proteins that then induce the immune system to produce antibodies in response. Antibodies bind themselves onto attacking viruses and bacteria, disabling them or marking them for death by other parts of the immune system, like the cell-devouring macrophages.
Moderna is another company using mRNA vaccine technology. The Jerusalem Post reports that the company expects to release the clinical trial results of its two-dose vaccine in early December. If the results are positive, the company says it can produce 20 million doses by the end of the year and between 500 million and 1 billion in 2021.
If these results stand the test of time, the development of the mRNA vaccine platform is really good news for humanity in the long term. This platform makes it much easier to devise new vaccines and much faster to scale up their production.
The mRNA platform is not the only contender in the global race to create and deploy a coronavirus vaccine. The global pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca expects to report its vaccine clinical trial results before the end of the year. AstraZeneca bases its single-dose vaccine on a chimpanzee cold virus modified to express COVID-19 viral proteins. Its clinical trials were halted briefly so that researchers could investigate a couple of instances in which clinical trial participants experienced concerning medical conditions. CEO Pascal Soriot says that the halt has delayed the deployment of the vaccine but, assuming its safety and efficacy are proved, the company expects to deliver hundreds of millions of doses of its vaccine in 2021.
The Trump administration's Operation Warp Speed, through which the federal government loosened regulatory rules and speculatively awarded billions of dollars to vaccine makers, deserves a lot of the credit for the amazing speed with which COVID-19 vaccines are being developed and rolled out. It is worth noting that Pfizer did not accept federal funding for the research and development of its mRNA COVID-19 vaccine, although the company did sign a $1.95 billion contract with the federal government to manufacture the vaccine.

Really? Nobody is ranting and raving how it was a corporate conspiracy to deliberately withhold this information until after the election?
We're laughing at anti-vaxxers like Cuomo at this point.
Feel free to stop it. More dead folks from NYC is a great start.
Back to corruption as usual. Reason can breathe a sigh of relief.
So broken. No wonder you support biden.

Announced one business day after Biden declares victory.
No one could have predicted that.
right on time
late, according to you ...
At this point its easier to track who is *not* supposedly a part of this grand conspiracy
So far that would be "nobody."
Millions of voters conspired to get rid of Trump. It's the grandest conspiracy in the history of conspiracies.
Fewer millions of voters than the millions of voters who conspired to re-elect Trump. Ballots != voters. But of course, 200% turnout in every county Biden needed to narrowly win on a less than 1% margin in swing states is just a conspiracy theory.
Fuck off, Tulpa.
Biden is corrupt.
He cheated.
Just because the conspirators literally declared loudly and publicly what they were conspiring to do doesn't make it a conspiracy.
it doesn't have to be a grand conspiracy, just one company deciding to withhold news that might help a candidate they don't prefer
It’s a conspiracy of pretty much everyone hating Trump.
A "conspiracy" implies secrecy. This is simply a free market in government corruption, in which every participant acts to maximize their utility. Pfizer is a big donor to Democrats, so they like to make Democrats happy. Journalists and newspapers benefit from Democrats granting them monopolies. Teachers benefit directly from government handouts and increased funding. Etc. No conspiracy needed: the motivations of the individual actors are plainly visible.
I know. Lol.
What a whole joke this is.
A complete fucken clown shit show by and for buffoons.
Biden. smh.
Who had 11/9 in the End Of The Pandemic pool?
Missed it by two goddamned days! I had the 11th.
But see, Biden calling for a national mask mandate. I'm probably just salty about having the day after Inauguration in the betting pool.
Oh well, COVID-21 is likely coming soon.
Not me. I expected it to end after the inauguration.
Its at 90% until the election for Biden is certified then it will be good enough to force people to take.
Note the WSJ reported that the CDC was going to require app based monitoring of those vaccinated.. Yea thats all there going to do and I thought that was just a silly conspiracy even though there is video of Bill Gates saying so
That's, um, frightening.
If you get vaccinated it comes with app monitoring?
GOOGLE
Covid-19 Vaccine Safety Efforts to Feature App Tracking of Vulnerable Groups
Um. Why not just have them report to their doctors and the doctors can input that info. into a data base?
Dumb question but it's a question nevertheless.
Ben Carson told the virus “I believe that you want the guy behind the counter”.
It infected him anyway... Read More
ok kinda funny
Holy crap, are bots now writing better jokes than us human commenters? Granted, low bar, but still frightening.
The bots are certainly more sentient than you and have a far more robust database of responses.
You've never written a good joke. So yes. In your case.
It will be suppressed so as to extend governors unchecked power as long as possible. Newsom already announced he won’t do shit with a vaccine until it meets some kind of arbitrary standard.
That was pre Biden but then Newsom is power mad
ahem, arbitrary "scientific" standard.

Biden announced that his coronavirus task force would include Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, In a 2014 essay in The Atlantic, Emanuel, explained why he hoped to die at age 75, and why he finds the idea of living past that date to be morally problematic.
Carousel! Carousel!
Renew! Renew!
(love it)
OMG. That guy is pure evil.
He's a BIO-ETHICIST. Meaning he's a MURDERER.
Are you saying Kamala recommended him to the task force?
Dunno who it was but apparently he was.
Sounds like something a psycho like Harris would do though.
Maybe she even banged him.
I know, I know. Decorum. Biden is all about decorum, class and decency I was told.
nah, he will head up the panel of medical experts deciding who gets prioritized care once Medicare for All is in place.
How does he feel about Biden who is past 75
new conspiracy vaccine to kill people when they hit 75 so as to not burden hospitals with old folks
Finally someone proposing some much needed Social Security and Medicare reforms.
I shouldn't have laughed at that...
Wasn't the virus already accomplishing this by itself? How much better could the vaccine really do it?
If Pfizer knew on this Monday, they also knew last Monday (tons of work done in a week, all those CoC approval signatures to gather in-house after all). However mail-in balloting does limit the impact of good news so result!
Pfizer hates the Con Man too.
Seeing as how the initial Pfizer press release claimed they were not a part of Operation Warp Speed while their July press release says they are... oh and they followed up with they are later in the day. Perfect example of TDS
Well, I am a bit reluctant to accept the word of those who declare "winners" before the race is over on any subject.
Having the "news" reported as opposites is the new normal.
We have always been at war with ourselves.
I can not but think that Pizer sees President Biden as a better for their business. People sensed that Trump would put out any vaccine good or bad and in doing so he would tarnish the product. Biden's support will be better. Better acceptance, more sales, and more profit for Pizer.
Thats a dumb take.
Maybe, just maybe, you should go back and read the democrat politicians statements about drug prices. I would expect Harris to just confiscate all the vaccine doses and hand them out to those she chooses.
Pfizer loves Biden and his healthcare plans because Biden protects them from market competition and transfers public money directly into their coffers through inflated drug prices.
This.
Pharma hates Trump for pushing for price transparency and lower drug prices.
How many votes do you think that would have changed? Would Dems all of a sudden be all "Orange Man Good?"
This is incredibly good new for America.
The time of shutting down our economy is quickly coming to an end.
We can get our lives back.
Next....Those commie Chinese fuckers who did this to us need to pay a grievous price. We have nearly a quarter-million dead. That cannot go unanswered.
Yet Murphy is still talking about more dining restrictions.
That phucker just imposed them. All indoor dining to close at 10pm. Gyms are next.
You couldn't pay me to live in New Jersey.
China is much more your speed, but New Jersey is pretty close.
it's a well known scientific fact that you can't get the virus before 10 PM. Or after 10PM, as long as you're protesting for some approved cause.
Or celebrating an editorial victory as if it were an actual certified vote count following a gazillion lawsuits.
We can get our lives back*.
*Providing some other infectious disease doesn't require us to lock down again until a vaccine is developed.
We have to remain quarantined until we have a vaccine for the common cold!
Forever, dude. If it saves just one life...
Hopefully the Danes are getting busy slaughtering all those mink.
Now they can shut down the economy for different reasons
Good think the principled libertarians here made sure to vote for the GND.
East there buckaroo....they're not done moving goal posts.
"Next….Those commie Chinese fuckers who did this to us need to pay a grievous price. We have nearly a quarter-million dead. That cannot go unanswered."
If by grievous price, you mean stave off their impending famine for them, ignore their continued subversion of nations surrounding the South China Sea, and continuing to sell of our country to the CCP, Biden and Harris will make sure it's paid.
You won't be, of course, beyond another bailout check. With the lion's share of that going to the state budgets of CA, NY, IL, MI, and everyone else who kept the faith.
Yeah I'm sure the media empire and the dems will get RIGHT on that.
It didn't go unanswered. The guy responsible for many of those dead just lost an election.
Compare deaths per capita of the US against other wealthy, western nations. If it wasn't for the UK saying "hold my beer" recently, we'd be #1. As it is, we're a close #2. Germany and similar nations trailing us waaaay down the list. And New Zealand? Near the bottom. America had many opportunities to limit the deaths from this thing and decided our right to spread this disease was constitutionally granted or something.
We got the government we deserved and lots of people died as a result.
“Next….Those commie Chinese fuckers who did this to us need to pay a grievous price. We have nearly a quarter-million dead. That cannot go unanswered.”
You can expect the manufacture and distribution of the vaccine to be outsourced to Communist China right after Biden apologizes for all the bad things Trump said.
President Biden will make sure to lick their nuts instead.
Fake news. There's not going to be a vaccine until sometime until late 2021 at the earliest, this is known. And maybe not until 2022 or even 2023 if Fauci has anything to say about it. This is merely a promising-looking trial at this point, it still needs a year or more of additional trials before we can even think about calling it a vaccine.
I actually think it is a bit of fake news. 90% is actually a rather shitty number among people who will tolerate the vaccine. Especially considering that for other vaccines to get closer to 100% and lasting immunity, it's not uncommon to give 2-3 boosters. But, for this load of crap, presumably they've seen that everything past 2 doesn't offer any better protection.
Analogously, 90% effective in whom? 65+ yr. olds with 2 co-morbidities or 13-24 yr. olds who have a greater than 90% chance of contracting and clearing the virus asymptomatically anyway?
I want to see it play out in the real world first. Maybe Joe can be the first one to take it?
And then we get HER?!? I thought you Canucks were supposed to be kind, gentle, well-mannered people! YOU MONSTER!!!
Compared to flu vaccines, 90% is extremely good, though.
We'll see how this plays out. Very good questions about who the test subjects were and what the conditions were.
90% is pretty standard among other vaccines. For example the MMR vaccine is about 88%
The interesting thing is this is a new technology. One other company Moderna is basing on mRNA.
It could lead to other advancement.
You guys joke, but honestly, do you trust a fucking vaccine rushed out in less than 6 months? There has quite literally never been a vaccine developed in that amount of time in the entire history of humanity. You trust the long-term safety of this vaccine that hasn't been studied in long-term trials? When we know definitively that similar vaccines for e.g., H1N1 caused more deaths than the disease? You're comfortable with the government forcing you to put that in your body? The same government that granted special immunity from all civil liability to vaccine manufacturers in the United States?
It's a good thing libertarians are principled opponents of force and coercion and not just fucking shills for Marxism.
Nope. Don't trust it. Lots of vaccines that looked promising have turned out to be useless or worse. No one should be forced or strongly "nudged" to take it.
The new technology does sound interesting and promising in the longer run, though.
The first use of chemo therapy was about 3 days after its development. Penicillin was also rushed. Time frame of development isn't an indicator of if a drug is good or not
It's not fake news. It's a press release (advertisement) that states statistical facts (that a lot of people will misinterpret.)
They're in third phase trials and enough of the people have gotten covid for them to get some unexpected data that looks promising. But "promising" means--not final and there's plenty of room for things to change.
This in an mRNA vaccine. No mRNA vaccines have been approved by the FDA before (that I am aware of.) mRNA vaccines have side effect that are stronger than most other vaccines so far. This one requires two doses to work. They say they could have, at most, 50 million doses by the end of the year if approved by the FDA in mid-November.
They don't really know it's actual effectiveness but it appears to be more effective than anticipated. But even 60% effective would be a big deal.
Assuming this was a good vaccine, we could expect the number of doses needed to vaccinate every American citizen and the time required to get those vaccinations done to take a year or more after approval. And this is a German company so there's no reason to think the US will get priority.

Joe Biden called on the Trump Administration to vastly expand the country’s testing capabilities for the coronavirus, including launching a new public health jobs corps of 100,000 people to assist with the testing and contact tracing, as he laid out his vision for safely reopening the economy in a new memo on Monday.
Yippee! All the furloughed and laid off because of the lockdowns can now be paid assets for Fauci's Gestapo.
Trump Administration to vastly expand the country’s testing capabilities for the coronavirus, including launching a new public health jobs corps of 100,000
Why don't Democrats simply just create the CCC like they really want to?
I'll take that over the public health corps.
CCC = California Conservation Corp. copyrights you will need a new acronym
Man I hope I get to blow the brains out of some needle dick apparatchik who wanders onto my property to enforce the commissar's contact tracing orders. I hope they sent a few of them.
Your next line is "Joe Biden abdicates the presidency to Kamala Harris"
Willingly or forcibly?
What's the difference?
Yes.
"The vaccine appears to be 90 percent effective in preventing infections caused by the coronavirus."
Unlikely, I doubt they intentionally infected all their test subjects, including controls. It is more likely it produces an antibody response in 90% of ex vivo exposures, which may or may not confer immunity.
Don't expect Bailey, Unreason's science reporter, to actually know...um....science.
His terminal education consisted of an undergraduate degree in philosophy. If you can't trust a humanities undergrad to interpret complex scientific data, who can you trust?
That could be an honest mistake, but I'm at the point where I don't believe anything written about COVID. The reporting on it has been a clusterfuck from day 1 and I'm supposed to believe THIS TIME the information is accurate and should be trusted.
Sure.
The election is over. They can stop fucking with us now.
Good reading. I concur.
Biden Coronavirus Board Member: I Don't Think Life Is Worth Living After 75, So Won't Take Flu Shots
https://pjmedia.com/news-and-politics/tyler-o-neil/2020/11/09/biden-covid-19-board-member-an-obamacare-architect-told-the-elderly-to-avoid-flu-shots-vaccines-n1132443
“Here is a simple truth that many of us seem to resist: living too long is also a loss,” Emanuel writes. “It renders many of us, if not disabled, then faltering and declining, a state that may not be worse than death but is nonetheless deprived. It robs us of our creativity and ability to contribute to work, society, the world. It transforms how people experience us, relate to us, and, most important, remember us. We are no longer remembered as vibrant and engaged but as feeble, ineffectual, even pathetic.”
Biden’s coronavirus advisor actively encourages the elderly to “think of an alternative to succumbing to that slow constriction of activities and aspirations imperceptibly imposed by aging.”
What about simple stuff? Flu shots are out. Certainly if there were to be a flu pandemic, a younger person who has yet to live a complete life ought to get the vaccine or any antiviral drugs.
Yes, Biden’s coronavirus advisor encouraged people over 75 to avoid flu shots. Joe Biden himself is 77 (and he will turn 78 next week). Emanuel himself is 63 years old. Yet Emanuel’s advocacy against basic health treatments extends further.
A big challenge is antibiotics for pneumonia or skin and urinary infections. Antibiotics are cheap and largely effective in curing infections. It is really hard for us to say no. Indeed, even people who are sure they don’t want life-extending treatments find it hard to refuse antibiotics. But, as [Sir William] Osler reminds us, unlike the decays associated with chronic conditions, death from these infections is quick and relatively painless. So, no to antibiotics.
If an individual doesn't want to live into decrepitude, that's a quite reasonable position to take. They are free to decline any medical treatments they want, set up a living will and to take their own lives if that's what they want to do.
Trying to force or "nudge" others into such a decision is just evil.
The thing that has always disturbed me about the Medical Ethics Field, is it seems to be chockablock with people who are more than happy to make life/death decisions for others. As long as you say it with a grave look on your countenance, you'll be on the NPR interview circuit faster than you can say Assisted Suicide.
He will change his mind when he hits 75 after others had already taken his advice
Sorta like telling people they don' t need to wear masks and then getting a helicopter ride to a bleeding edge medical facility for free access to experimental drugs not available to the public because you were wrong?
It robs us of our creativity and ability to contribute to work, society, the world.
Which, as everybody knows, is your purpose and function as a human being. Sure, there are some people, those who suffer from extreme individualism, who selfishly prefer to be alive rather than dead despite their inability to contribute sufficiently to the common good and the welfare of the collective, but those are immoral people we would be better off without anyways so killing them is the morally just thing to do.
I wonder how he feels about the physically or mentally handicapped people who can't contribute their fair share to the common good? Or criminals? What about certain races that seem to have a proclivity for crime and low intelligence? Wouldn't it be morally just to kill them as well, or at least keep them from reproducing until they naturally die out? Or what if we could make such undesirables contribute to the common good by having them serve as test subjects for medical experiments and as organ donors? Would that not be morally just as well?
I think you are on to something, wonder if anyone has ever tried this??
You know what else robs you of your creativity and ability to contribute to work, society and the world?
Death
This guy gets it.
Fear not. The democrats are going to save us from the vaccine.
https://www.newsmax.com/us/andrew-cuomo-pfizer-vaccine-distribution/2020/11/09/id/996139/
What say you Sullum? Cuomo doesn't like this because he can't muck it up and murder more seniors.
Free minds and free markets my ass.
Gavin Newsome promised NOT to roll out any Trump vaccine without full independent testing. Which is crazy because no such thing as a California FDA. But now Trump is leaving maybe Newsome will allow vaccines.
When the fuck did vaccines become a partisan political issue? 2020 truly is a dumpster fire.
Gavin Newsom should be brought up on charges. That guy is truly evil.
"When the fuck did vaccines become a partisan political issue?"
When? Where the fuck have you been for the last six months?
...
So this is what it's going to be? Pretending that the immediate past didn't happen the way it actually happened?
Closer to nine months, but yeah.
When fascist bootlicking authoritarian pieces of dog shit like you told us that we had to hunker in our homes wearing face diapers and couldn't have family visit us for thanksgiving until there was a 100% effective vaccine against a disease that about 70% of the population has already contracted.
It won’t do you much good though. The government is going to continue to criminalize your breathing, probably for about another year.
How effective is the vaccine in the 80+ years population that is most at risk. If it doesn't work for old people, then what's the point?
If it works for everyone else then that means those people cannot get, and therefore cannot transmit the disease. No that won't save a ton of lives. But a ton of lives really have never been at risk anyway.
Meaning, even if it doesn't save great-grandpa, everyone else can get back to living a more normal existence.
(The markets are not really celebrating Great Grandpa being given an extra 18 months of life.)
What a bargain. We can be forced to inject a drug into our bodies based on a 2 month trial and in exchange we might be bestowed with the privilege of making a living.
Free minds and free markets baby!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Shorter Joe Biden: It takes the shot or it doesn't get to leave the basement.
Technically they only tested if it reduced symptoms. They never tested if the vaccine reduced how infectious the person is. I do assume that it reduces transmission, but do we know that? They have been saying all along that asymptomatic people can spread it. Having an immune response that prevents you from getting sick doesn't mean the infection didn't replicate at all.
A rare moment of actual fact on Reason. Congrats. I'd +1 you if it was available here.
Scientific American has an article up about this, with a silly title like "Antibody testing does not make dating safe". They say,
1) Having antibodies against COVID-19 has not been shown to ensure you aren't spreading the virus.
2) It has not been shown that catching and recovering from the virus leaves you with any lasting immunity.
So they don't know if an effective vaccine is even possible; if having the disease does not confer immunity, nothing will. And if they have a vaccine that produces antibodies, they cannot test whether it is actually effective in preventing the spread of the disease.
OTOH, there is some indirect evidence that lasting immunity is possible; data from Singapore seems to show that most people who caught the closely related SARS virus in 2002-2004 are immune to COVID-19.
On the third hand, no SARS vaccine was ever released, although governments around the world were clamoring for one. There was a vaccine nearly ready to test about 18 months after the first outbreak, but this was dropped without testing because the disease had gone away. So no vaccine for any variety of coronavirus has ever been proven to work, and there was never a chance of developing and testing one this year - and not much chance next year.
Oh, don't worry - it's going to be extremely effective, you're going to see case rates drop like a rock. Just as soon as the CDC decides that their testing is too strict and a lot of these "cases" they're catching are in fact just stray random bits of the coronavirus RNA and not actually a full-blown case of the coronavirus. We've known for months that this is the case, that the reason so many people are asymptomatic and don't seem to spread the virus is because they have such a small amount of the coronavirus present that it's not enough to make them sick or allow them to transmit the disease but the CDC is going to call them a victim of the coof just the same. Look for the CDC to shortly - and very. very quietly - issue a change in how deeply they test for the coronavirus so as to exclude these people with just a tiny bit of the coronavirus from being counted as a "case". And, miraculously!, the coronavirus pandemic will have turned the corner.
Yep. And when that does happen rest assured that Bailey, Sullum, and all the science-lovers here will have 'better' things to talk about.
Hospitalization rates are still the best measure. And those aren't looking so good these days. Cases are up. Hospitals and morgues are filling again.
That's some "corner." Or... did you mean "coroner?"
Biden solved that by putting someone on the Covid team who thinks 80 years shouldn't get any vaccines, or even antibiotics.
Oh, yeah. Forgot about that appointment.
It may well be safer to stay away from doctor's offices and hospitals than to go to one for a vaccine. You _know_ these places are full of sick people, and no one is going to really know whether the vaccine is safe and effective for a year or more.
It will be as effective as the masks - - - - - - - - -
How many old guys get a flu shot that runs in the 40% to 60% range depending on the year?
And oh by the way, the flu vaccine is changed each year, so the Communist Chinese Virus vaccine is in that development date range.
But the flu vaccine, albeit "changed each year", is produced according to a well-established protocol, so it's more like different batches of the same thing than a new thing. This is not only a new thing, but testing new hypotheses such as, in this case, that mRNA from a pathogen can be gotten into host cells and expressed, and produce an immune response that protects against that pathogen. Really breaking new ground. Great if it works. I just hope FDA allows other new drugs the same shortcuts these vaccines in development are getting, so we all will have the choice of drugs developed at "warp speed". Maybe food additives and medical devices too.
Correct. If a new flu vaccine was as innovative as this COVID vaccine, FDA approval would take 5-10 years - with a better than even chance of finally failing or being sent back for years of more tests - while they kept using the old, not particularly effective one. (Even when there is no treatment at all, the FDA normally still drags testing and approval out for about a decade.)
What everyone is missing, including Bailey, in this euphoria of relief, is that Pfizer ONLY talked about symptomatic infections. That may be good for the individual, but it says nothing about public health and the continued spread of the virus.
As a reminder, about half of those infected don't have any or any significant symptoms, yet they produce a LOT of virus and infect other people. And unlike most other viruses, SARS-CoV-2 is infectious and spreads for about 5 days prior to the onset of symptoms.
So until we know how a vaccine affects levels of virus in the nose, its shedding, and infectiousness to others, it's best to hold the applause.
I don't know if Pfizer has been checking for infected but asymptomatic people among those who received the vaccine, but it should.
Asymptotic spread is a myth to demand compliance with authority.
We have no specifics. No way is this valid. It takes 5-10 years or longer too make vaccines usable and then against the flu they are less than 50% effective. There has never been a coronavirus vaccine even after 10 years of trying. If you believe that suddenly there will b avaccine in such a short time, I have a fake presidential election I'd like to sell to you. Make no mistake, any vaccines coming for the fake pandemic are not true vaccines. They will be filled with RNA altering substances and nano-particles designed to accomplish only God know what. You knuckleheads that believe in Pharma and their fake vaccines will reap the whirlwind of death and disease. Our fake medical system depends on you being sick and ailing. 5-10 years?!
I think you forgot to mention the lizard people. Check your tinfoil... the 5G is getting through!

They won't mandate the vaccine. I don't think they can. However it will certainly be a condition for enrolling in any public school or university at least. I remember I had to get a viral meningitis vaccine before the college would let me take classes.
They can make you buy health insurance, why would they not be able to make you buy a vaccine?
What a waste of 50 bucks when you dropped out 2 weeks later.
You really are a credulous tool sarc.
I had a polio vaccine. Did you get one? I bet most of the people here haven't had to get one. That's because the vaccine worked.
Yes, it will be mandatory for public schools and probably some private schools too. Mandatory for certain professions too, like hospital employees, elder care facilities, etc. It will be interesting to see if we need to get it every year like the influenza vaccine.
You'll have to wait a few days until sarcasmic gets some fresh copy from Democratic Underground before you get your answer.
Didn't they repeal the individual mandate?
Maybe as a condition to getting a pass to get into the park or building. Oh, sorry. I thought you were arguing in good faith. My bad.
Wow, that's cool! I didn't realize I was in my 80s and college was that cheap when I went! And I that degree on my wall is a figment of my imagination! Dude you're so awesome! How do you do that?
Doesn't really matter, it went all the way to the Supreme Court and they decided the government can indeed force you to buy health insurance. Bad optics stopping them from actually using their abilities doesn't mean they don't have them
Your premise is that they cannot mandate the vaccine, they absolutely can. Whether they will or not is a different story. If they can get the public on board with the idea that anyone who refuses to get vaccinated is a grandma murderer the optics will be different than the individual mandate and I fully expect some force will be used to get people vaccinated.
But hey, at least Trump didn't win. Having chemicals injected into your body under threat of violence is a far more libertarian outcome.
He needs the Voxsplanation
A libertarian outcome you say?
Pass the disease to someone and you have to pay their healthcare expenses.
"prove it!" you chortle?
Then it's a race to the bottom for all of us and we don't deserve to survive.
I'm amazed (truly and actually) that conservatives have come to this. It used to be freedom with responsibility. Now it's just "freedom" and "F-off!" Since when did conservatives jettison the expectation of being responsible for the consequences of one's freedom?
