Brickbat: Raclure de Bidet

French President Emmanuel Macron has announced plans to ban homeschooling and to impose government control on religious and cultural institutions and sports associations. Macron says the moves will be part of a draft law he will introduce later this year to combat radical Islam and religious separatism in France. Under his proposal, starting with the 2021 school year, all children over age 3 will have to attend a school registered with the government unless the child has a medical exemption.

France has loved persecuting religion since the Huguenots. Sports fills that role for some Frenchmen today, so no surprise that it is included.
The linked article didn't specifically mention sports, just "associations, which receive government funding," and I don't know whether the commas are significant or not. Does it mean all associations receive government funding, or just that the rules affect only those that do?

I think Macron heard about the leader of Belarus being referred to as Europe’s last dictator and said, “Tenez ma biere !”
Actually laughed out loud. Thanks!
Should be:
"Tiens, tiens ma bière. Ça va être cool"
This'll probably tick up his approval rating. The French dig that nanny, central-state stuff.
I don't know that they dig nanny stuff per se, but like the Turks, they're always afraid a religion will impose on society generally, so they strike pre-emptively.
However, the Turks have reason to be worried given recent events. Somehow I can't see Sharia-on-the-Seine anytime soon. (That doesn't mean the Islamothugs won't continue their murderous ways in La Belle France.)
The Islamathugs already proved they can kill as many citizens with trucks as with guns. This was their alternative to banning trucks.
How about deregulate the labor market a little so the immigrant youths can find jobs -- and thus integrate mainstream society -- more easily?
When les cochons fly?
Just cross the border. I hear there are good paying jobs in Geneva.
Maybe they could have just avoided this situation by throttling immigration? I know, crazy thought.
How long before that comes here to the US?
Next year.
When does Harris become president?
The twelfth of never?

Hope you're right.
Public schoool Zoom classes mandatory by penalty of firing squad
But Black lives totes matter!
Macron can't figure out how any student will find a bride with no non-relative teachers around.
Somewhat of a victory of the radical Muslims. Now those few Christians and others who homeschool have to even more submit to the state.
Doesn't Germany already ban homeschooling?
Doesn’t Germany already ban homeschooling?
Ach mein Gott...
Yeah man, the Germans STILL have a big boner for fascism! From the inter-tubes, imported below... As I understand, also, if you are a member of a church (or other religious org) over there, the Government Almighty collects taxes from you to transfer to the church! As you might imagine, church membership is low...
Homeschooling has been illegal in Germany since 1919. The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) on Thursday ruled against a German family from the state of Hesse that has been fighting for years for the right to homeschool their children, a practice that is illegal in Germany.Jan 10, 2019
This is true in many European nations. We 'Muricans assume a separation of church and state, but over there the church is part of the state. And good arguments as to why that explains the innumerable churches, denominations, and offshoots in the US, but the lack of such and declining membership over there.
Europe has basically two denominations: Roman Catholic and Lutheran. Others exist, but are seen as dangerous cults, even though many of them originated there before they fled to the New World. In the British Isles it's a bit different. Catholic and Anglicism, or Catholic and Presbyterian, etc.
Christianity took a different turn there. There, it's, "Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's...and you know what? It's all Caesar's!"
It went thru a similar period (except for a few Dissenter types, i.e. Quakers and Amish) in the USA in the 1940s and 1950s, when religion was part of the mix that kept "us" separate from the Nazis and then the Commies. The church was then very pro-state, and the state very pro-church.
Lutheranism and Catholicism are the Big Two in Germany, but the Reformed (Calvinist) tradition is popular elsewhere, such as in the Netherlands. Scottish Calvinism became "Presbyterianism" when it arrived in America. For a libertarian nonbeliever like myself the paradox is that European tax-supported churches are less popular than unsubsidized sects in the US.
When I went to a German school as a kid, there was a class period for "religion", and the options were Catholic, Protestant, and Other. Being an atheist, I of course selected Other, and it was a study hall where I hung out with the Buddhist, Muslim, and Hindu kids.

But they think it's antifascism! They're afraid fascists or whomever will try to separate from society, build up their strength, and then take over. Funny, but it looks just like antisemitism in form, only it's supposedly to keep the antisemites down.
There will be ONE TRUE RELIGION left, to worship in the schools!
I give you one guess! (Scroll down).

all children over age 3 will have to attend a school registered with the government unless the child has a medical exemption
I foresee a boom in mental health examinations.
With an exemption for the political class, of course.
Gawd, it's like the French Revolution never ended. How long until Macron confiscates church property (and old French tradition)?
Some of that has already happened.
[quote]
The law separating Church and State, passed on 9 December 1905, established state ownership of cathedrals and parish council ownership of churches built before 1905. The inevitable result has been serious differences of opinion between clergy and government over the administration of religious buildings.

"...all children over age 3 will have to attend a school registered with the government"
So The United States is the only developed nation that doesn't mandate government certified quality education. C'mon man, we can do better than this! We need this to stay competitive, unless you just don't care about our children's future!
Why do you hate children?
They're noisy and messy.
Expensive.
They bring their fat friends to family dinner.
The US has an unrivaled No Child Left Behind Common Core conditioning system in place. Even the delinquents become conditioned.
this is one of the most absurd things i think i have ever seen. can you be more blatant that you see government schools as the way to indoctrinate the youth to your way of thinking? forcing Muslims into the schools to indoctrinate them, and assuming that homeschooling is how they are being indoctrinated the other way is literally the excuse for this. (because, no other way parents could possibly radicalize their kids during all that time the kids are not at school. religious backgrounds can totally be crushed that easy.) this is one step from the re-education camps the communists of China put the Uyghurs through.
So, the justification for more government control over people's lives is that it will help control a problem created by - wait for it - government?
Seems we have another believer in the theory; if brute force isn't working - you aren't using enough.
