Brickbat: Don't Preach It, Brother

|

Israeli Communications Minister David Amsalem has threatened to shut down the Hebrew language channel of GOD TV, an evangelical Christian broadcaster. Israeli law bans proselytizing to those under 18 without the consent of their parents, and Amsalem says the channel could be banned if its programming targets minors."We won't allow any missionary channel to operate in the state of Israel, not at any time and not under any circumstances," he said.

  1. Hitler would approve.

  2. First they kill our Savior and now this.

  3. The Cable and Satellite Broadcasting Council, the Israeli regulatory body, also said it would close down the channel if it broadcast “content that has the potential to influence viewers in an undue fashion”.

So no television at all, then?

  4. Does the Israeli Communications Minister ban spreading/proselytizing the Gospel of Government Almighty as well? From what I understand, the Force of Government Almighty runs strongly, with this State of Israel!

    1. Right but you eat your own shit, you told us so.

      1. Says the shit-obsessed spreader of worthless troll-shit. Do you have anything useful to do? Do you do anything other than suck on the tits of society?

        1. Gotta say, I’d much rather suck tits than eat shit.

  5. Is Israel now supporting the divestment movement?

  6. No Veggie Tales.

    Adult Content Only.

    1. Adult Content Only.

No Missionary position, just to be safe.

  7. OK, I think I’ve got it.

Remember those labels on certain music CDs – “Parental Advisory – Explicit Lyrics”? Well, the station could put such disclaimers on their programming – “Parental Advisory – Christian Proselytizing.”

  8. “Israeli law bans proselytizing to those under 18 without the consent of their parents”

the parents can’t turn the TV off?

    1. The kids would just sneak off to the house of a neighbor whose parents are less attentive.

      1. Next thing you know they’ll be hiding Bibles under the mattress and keeping a cigar box full of communion wafers in the back of their sock drawer.

  9. “We won’t allow any missionary channel to operate in the state of Israel, not at any time and not under any circumstances,” he said.

Now little Israeli kids know about the missionary position.

  10. Would a “Religion of Peace” send armed men to enforce religious dogmatism?

    1. Religion of Peace?

Which Old Testament did you read?

  11. They ought to charge parents with child endangerment for letting kids under 18 watch Christian TV. That’ll settle their hash!

    1. Right but you eat your own shit, you told us so

      1. Have you considered seeking professional help? Your obsession with coprophagy is starting to get more than a little disturbing.

  12. So delusional brain damage all the way down.

  13. I can hear the cries of “persecution” already.

    1. And why not? Because Christians are “icky”?

  14. Israel is just flexing its fascist muscles to make sure religious freedom doesn’t break out.

If they let Christians have religious freedom then the next thing you know Jews and Muslims will want religious freedom.

  15. Jesus was a Jew, as were his parents, apostles-Jews, other than occasional Roman, or leper, or Sumerian, pretty much everyone in the New Testament was a Jew.
So sure, let Israel suppress Jewish voices.

  16. Israel has had laws like this for a long time. It’s not the broadcasters’ responsibility to ensure those deemed ‘too young’ don’t hear their message… It’s the parents’ responsibility.
