Bombshell
The film is likely to get less credit, overall, than it deserves on the merits.

Reactions to Bombshell, a new movie about the sexual harassment lawsuit that brought down Fox News exec Roger Ailes, offer a rare opportunity to see both political correctness and patriotic correctness—the first term's right-wing mirror image—at work at the same time.
For many progressives, the film's sympathetic portrayal of former anchors Megyn Kelly and Gretchen Carlson—two outspoken Republicans—is necessarily at odds with the #MeToo movement's pieties. Many conservatives, meanwhile, appear to view as traitorous anything that casts aspersions on their cable news channel of choice. As a result, the film is likely to get less credit, overall, than it deserves on the merits.
In fact, Bombshell is a fun, feel-good flick. The crusade it depicts is self-evidently righteous, the script is snappy, and stars Charlize Theron (as Kelly), Nicole Kidman (as Carlson), and Margot Robbie (as a composite character who falls prey, excruciatingly, to John Lithgow's nauseating Ailes) put on master classes in character acting. Alas, this story about strong conservative women asserting themselves vis-à-vis powerful men does not fit neatly into either P.C. box.

Unfortunately, that's the problem with following the Fox News storyline - it's difficult to remember which is the bubble-headed bleach blonde with the short hair, the bubble-headed bleach blond with the medium-length hair and the bubble-headed bleach blond with the long hair.
She can tell you 'bout the plane crash with a gleam in her eye
There was a time when what is effectively nothing more than airing dirty laundry like this after the death of the accused would've been seen as unscrupulous and reprehensibly disrespectful. The fact that this movie went over like a lead balloon makes me think that at least some people haven't forgotten their better sensibilities or, at least, don't see the benefit in trash talking the dead.
Certainly not to say that the wronged, Carlson, Kelly, or whomever, shouldn't get their shot at recourse (assuming they didn't already get it), but a major motion picture celebrating the mere accusations is exceedingly distasteful.
As long as we remember that liberals believe highly educated women are just bubble heads if they are conservative. Most likely having been lied to and manipulated into their beliefs by misogynist husbands.
Yes, since women, who are smart and independent and superior to men, and deserve recognition of their own agency, must be protected from men.
Did I get that right?
I think so. But we must still call them traitors for not having and killing babies in their womb and not shouting their victories loudly.
It is really not that hard to never have an abortion and yet remain firmly pro choice. It is, in fact, very common.
Is it any less common to never have an abortion and yet remain firmly pro life? I guess I'm not getting your point, if there is one.
Just that women are not traitors for not having abortions. Most women never have abortions. Some women are traitors for denying that choice to other women.
They may be highly educated and even intelligent, but if they are actively tying to have less rights and freedoms, they are definitely brainwashed. If they are trying to deprive other women - and therfore, themselves as well - of their choices and freedoms, only because their according to their personal conscience/personal preferences, those choices seem wrong/unnecessary, they are both bigoted and stupid.

Reason still trying to make this a thing.
"Alas, this story about strong conservative women asserting themselves vis-à-vis powerful men does not fit neatly into either P.C. box."
I mean the only reason it was made is because it fits the narrative that conservatives and especially Fox News is evil and hates women. I can't wait for the Wienstein or Epstein biopic to come out. lol.
You didn’t catch all the NBC takedowns about Weinstein and the lecerous Matt Lauer

Which Academy-Award-winning actresses starred in those movies and which Academy Awards were the movies or their cast nominated for?
They were all Straight-to-YouTube joints produced by the Benghazi scapegoat
The reviewer forgot to mention if there is any nudity in the movie.
John Lithgow has never been shy about doing full frontal

The film should've been more fictionalized. Ailes' story is a nothingburger (No rape, nobody slept together, and an executive already nearing retirement stepped down in atonement) and they are/were trying to sensationalize it. Moreover, both #MeToo and law-and-order Republicans wouldn't/shouldn't want it to be sensationalized for the typical sensible reasons.
The performances may've been excellent but lauding this garbage is pretty overtly wishing that Hollywood cinema were *more* like Twitter.
There is some phenomenal makeup in Bombshell.
And nothing else.

Must...resist...you know what else...joke...
This was made because it is easier for Hollywood to go after dirt on a perceived enemy like Fox News than to take an honest rather than fawning look at itself and dramatize Weinstein's sleaze.
Exactly. The vast majority of the me too cases have had perpetrators on the left, but only the Fox cases get a movie.
