Brickbat: Lead Foot

The Colorado State Patrol has charged James Grimes with reckless driving, driving more than 40 mph over the speed limit in a construction zone, and three counts of reckless endangerment. Grimes, who was clocked driving more than 100 mph, was reportedly racing another driver on Interstate 25. Grimes, a Denver sheriff's deputy, was on duty and transporting inmates at the time. The man he was racing, Daniel Franklin, was charged with DUI, driving more than 40 mph over the speed limit in a construction zone, reckless driving, and driving with no proof of insurance.

How is that a Brickbat? How did the hated gummint fuck up?
"Grimes, a Denver sheriff's deputy, was on duty and transporting inmates"
That's one government fuck up. Hiring this fool was another one.
Yes, but who will the race?
Anyways burying the lead, Reason.
Who "won"
Stupid autocorrect.
The construction workers and the inmates - no one got killed.
How did the cop get hit with reckless endangerment? It's perfectly safe for cops to engage in high-speed chases while doing database searches on their computers, isn't it? It's not like the cop drove over a bicyclist.
He had captive riders and was putting their lives in danger while breaking the law. One could make a case for some flavor of kidnapping.
The captive riders were (ALL of them!) horrible, barbarous, vicious CRIMINALS who had been caught RED HANDED, blowing on cheap plastic flutes, w/o permission!!! Proper citizens (like us) should NOT be bothered to shed ANY tears on behalf of the likes of THEM (NOR their ilk, to boot, nor the horses that the ilks rode in on!)
To find precise details on what NOT to do, to avoid the flute police, please see http://www.churchofsqrls.com/DONT_DO_THIS/ … This has been a pubic service, courtesy of the Church of SQRLS!
Blow on my plastic flute!
Only if both you and I have prescriptions from a certified, degreed, credential Doctor of Doctorology! Else, one or the both of us will be horrible criminals!
Kinda like Drumpf and Ukraine, no harm no foul. Fuck that shit! Lock him up! Lock him up!
Grimes, a Denver sheriff's deputy, was on duty and transporting inmates at the time.
He probably just wanted to show his homies he's still "cool".
The only difference between cops and criminals is the uniform.
and qualified immunity.
It would be a shame if this pursuit put a stain on the commendation he no doubt received for surviving that one-on-five life-fearing.
The officers made it home safely, which is all that matters.
Booker had gone into a waiting area to retrieve his shoes, and four deputies used handcuffs, nunchucks and a “sleeper hold” to restrain him.
So the $6 million you paid out for this homeless guy’s murder wasn’t enough to assign this fascist desk duty for the rest of his life? Did this cop make Brickbat 10 years ago? Surely there is some cop somewhere that has been called out more than once in this section.
Nunchucks?!
Ah... a fellow chucker, Eh?

At the time, he was identifying as being in a pursuit - - - - - -
Qualified immunity.
"racing another driver "
Hey, the deputy was challenged, and we all know what happens when their authority is challenged.
"You're disrespecting my authority boner!!!"
In other news, GSP is shocked - shocked! - to discover that their core values might not include not cheating on the police exam.
“It’s a punch in the gut,” McDonough said. “Our whole mode is to produce an officer that the public can trust. This goes to our very core values, and so it is something that is difficult to swallow.”
Maybe you should re-examine your assumptions about what you're producing.
Spitting is allowed if you can’t swallow. No harm.
Is, is this . . . what the fuck does this have to do with libertarianism, the over-reach of the state, state misconduct, or even just being an interestingly amusing story.
Guy was racing down the interstate, drunk, and got arrested. Good job, local police force.
Never mind, I screwed up here, not you guys.
