The Government Has Been Lying About Afghanistan All Along
Plus: Provocative reindeer cause trouble for beer label, Law & Order's sex work fantasy, and more...

The U.S. government has been lying about the war in Afghanistan practically since it started. "Every data point" about American efforts there "was altered to present the best picture possible," according to Bob Crowley, an Army colonel and former senior counterinsurgency adviser to military commander in Afghanistan. "Surveys, for instance, were totally unreliable but reinforced that everything we were doing was right and we became a self-licking ice cream cone."
This and many more damning quotes about the now three-presidency-spanning U.S. war in Afghanistan come via some remarkable efforts by The Washington Post, which fought with federal agencies for more than three years to obtain a trove of documents that the paper is calling the Afghanistan Papers. The title is an allusion to the Pentagon Papers, the Defense Department's secret Vietnam War files leaked in 1971 by Daniel Ellsberg. (Read Reason's recent interview with Ellsberg here. Read our earlier interview with Ellsberg—from way back in 1973—here.)
"We didn't know what we were doing. We didn't have the foggiest notion of what we were undertaking," confessed Douglas Lute, Afghan war czar under Bush II and Obama, back in 2015. Jeffrey Eggers—a former Navy SEAL and a staffer for the Bush II and Obama administrations—asked, "What did we get for this $1 trillion effort?"
The material uncovered by the Post (facilitated via Freedom of Information Act requests and a lengthy legal battle) "includes more than 2,000 pages of previously unpublished notes of interviews with people who played a direct role in the war, from generals and diplomats to aid workers and Afghan officials." The officials were "speaking on the assumption that their remarks would not become public" as part of an interview project spearheaded by the Office of the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction.
While the Post is still waiting on a federal court ruling regarding the identities of many of those interviewed, the paper said that it decided to publish what it had now in light of the Trump administration's current talks with the Taliban and the question of whether to withdraw more troops from Afghanistan.
President Donald Trump is reportedly mulling 14,000 more U.S. troops could be deployed to "help" in the Middle East.

Beer nannies. North Carolina brewery Sycamore Brewing pulled a holiday-themed ale from its taproom under pressure from the North Carolina Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission, which was offended by what Fox News describes as "provocative imagery involving reindeer." It has since been replaced with kid-friendly art:
https://www.facebook.com/SycamoreBrewing/photos/a.150680138433181/1493885494112632/?type=1&theater
Fox notes that a similar situation played out earlier this year,
when a Utah-based brewery was told by the NC ABC that they would not be allowed to sell a polygamy-themed beer in the state.
In July, Wasatch Brewery was told that their Polygamy Porter had been rejected by that state authority because "polygamy is illegal." The brewery unsuccessfully appealed the decision and the beer remains off the shelves in North Carolina (although it was sold in 20 other states).

TV show skews story of sex worker death. "It's been two years since 38-year-old massage worker Yang Song fell four stories to her death from an apartment window during a police raid on an illegal parlor in the Flushing neighborhood of Queens," writes Tiffany Diane Tso at HuffPost, in a review of a recent Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episode based in part on Song's story.
But the SVU version "feeds us a white savior fantasy version of the very real crackdown on Asian-run spas that offer sexual services in New York City and across the country," Tso writes. More here.

The U.S. government has been lying about the war in Afghanistan practically since it started.
Did anyone really actually think this was a success?
Hello.
Uptheassistan!
Military contractors. And a spectacular one.
PS- Can't wait for the gymnastics display when Trump changes "bring them home!" To "Send even more!" and Reason commenters and other Republicans are forced to cheerlead the new policy and explain how its not actually a contradiction.
So you cant wait for something you imagine happening happens so you can gloat while you complain for things you imagine happening not having happened. You seem totally sane.
""explain how its not actually a contradiction.""
Why should they? The dems and liberal have not done so.
Where did all the anti-war protesters go after January 2017?
Partisan politics is never having to explain your hypocrisy.
Don't you mean after 2009?
John Kerry said bomb Tora Bora and all would be revealed.
The Government Has Been Lying About Afghanistan All Along
No kidding?
The government has been lying all along.
We could leave it at that.
Those who desire more bigger government wants to empower the liars even more.
But they will be happier once THEIR liars are in control.
Exactly. This is supposed to be a "bombshell" report, but there's nothing reported here that anyone with half a brain didn't already realize years ago.
Makes the lefty chimp-out over Trump wanting to do peace talks between the Afgan government and the Taliban at Camp David look even dumber. We accomplished our main purpose for being there--killing Bin Laden--a long time ago, and while there was FWA going on before then, at least we could point to a clear objective being pursued and accomplished.
The reality for years now is that the Taliban aren't going anywhere, the Afghan government is too fractured to maintain control over the entire country, and we're wasting time and money by continuing to conduct combat operations there.
The people of Afghanistan appear to mostly want a culture of tribes, warlords, and Muslim religious rule. They do not appear to want to be us, or anything like us. Let them alone, to enslave women and kill each other. If they invite in Al Qaida again, then bomb the terrorists and fly back home.
Keeping in mind that this is reporting from The Washington Post, I'm now skeptical there's even an Afghanistan let alone a war in Afghanistan. Do we actually have any proof that the Taliban, Osama bin-Laden or the US Army are real?
It has since been replaced with kid-friendly art...
So drink up, kids!
Obviously they were evil for their previous cans being to adult, and are now evil for trying to make their product appeal to children. It's evil all the way down. Won't somebody save us and the children from our vices?
trying to make their product appeal to children
Well, it's "beer" that tastes like cookies, so....
In July, Wasatch Brewery was told that their Polygamy Porter had been rejected by that state authority because "polygamy is illegal." The brewery unsuccessfully appealed the decision and the beer remains off the shelves in North Carolina (although it was sold in 20 other states).
Damn, North Carolina allows gay marriage and as sure as night follows day someone is trying to sell polygamy in a can.
Sure Metazoan.
Why would any man want ANOTHER ball and chain??
So they will have each other to talk to?
SUV is a crap show. Unwatchable.
All of the Dickwolf's Law and Order shows are crap.
At least the 2000s-era shows have Mariska Hargitay at the peak of her hotness.
Is SUV a car show?
No. That's Parking Wars.
But the SVU version "feeds us a white savior fantasy version of the very real crackdown on Asian-run spas that offer sexual services in New York City and across the country..."
The various Laws & Orders serieses were the absolute worst pro-cop/prosecutor porn available. I assume whatever's left on TV still is.
Narratively speaking, they're utter garbage--cop/prosecutor fellatio combined with SJW self-righteousness. The best that can be said about them is that at least they don't have the Quirky Female Tech Genius stereotype infecting the shows produced by Donald Bellasario.
The most irritating feature of virtually every cop show on TV today is their complete lack of realism when it comes to legal procedures.
For example, no one on SVU or Blue Bloods ever gets put on paid leave after ventilating a suspect. They're at work the next day, and often end up shooting someone else before the episode ends.
They are not always SJW. They had an episode based on the father of the theory that gender is a social construct that was rather critical of the notion. Hard not to be, considering the experiment he ran on twin boys, one of whom had genital damage as an infant who he recommended live as a female. The twisted things he had those children do to convince the one that he was really a girl was indenfensiible, but they actually came down against the idea gender is a social construct. It may have been because at the time it was produced the SJW line was sexual orientation was immutable. Which, apparently now it is not, as not wanting to be in an intimate relationship with someone who identifies as the sex your orientation prefers but is not is now considered "transphobic".
The U.S. government has been lying about the war in Afghanistan practically since it started.
There go the idiot anarchists at Reason again trying to get people to believe that government shouldn’t exist.

U.S. Lawmakers urge the Attorney General to use existing obscenity laws to shut down the pornography industry...
Let's win or surrender in the various current war-on's before starting another.
Huh. I didn't read that as wanting to shut down the pornography industry, just the part that exploits human beings, engages in human trafficking, and is especially harmful to children who consume it at exponentially younger ages today. Which I would be in favor of regardless of whether they're in the pornography industry, the steel industry, the automotive industry or the fishing industry. But I'm not sure why you would need obscenity laws to go after criminals who are already breaking more serious laws involving kidnapping and slavery and reckless endangerment.
"Politico on how 'the cool kids of the left' turned on Elizabeth Warren."
That's not the impression I get. My progressive friends all rank Warren as their top choice for 2020 now that Harris is out.

Actually, that would be Corey Booker.
I think you misunderstand, Warren is obviously a person of choler. I think it has something to do with socialism because Bernie's a person of choler as well. Or it might just be age - I find myself getting pretty choleric myself these days.
If things are not going well in Afghanistan, the Koch / Reason solution is to invite the entire population of Afghanistan to immigrate to the United States. In fact I'd like to see Shikha Dalmia expand this idea into a column. Or maybe a whole book.

Hey cytotoxic, want to continue justifying the Reason blackout on the Saudi terrorist attack, or is it still too local and the editors too busy after 3 days?
I think you are addressing me, even though I'm not cytotoxic. I'm the person who said something on this subject. I still stand by what I said, which is the precise truth:
Reason is not a newspaper. Every day, there are many news stories that they don't comment on in their blog. They might write about the shooting at the Naval training center, they might not. It doesn't mean there is a "blackout" or suppression of discussion if they don't mention someone's hobby-horse news topic.
It's not like Reason hasn't ever written about US relations with Saudi Arabia:
https://reason.com/tag/saudi-arabia/
Recently, for example, Reason wrote a fair amount about the Khashoggi torture/murder incident.
That doesn't help your case
Please explain exactly how I am wrong about Reason not being a newspaper.
Sure Metazoan.
Why are all the Trump defenders here having a blackout on talking about Trump's rush to make sure we all knew that the king of Saudi Arabia is really sorry about the shootings?
B-b-b-b-b-b-b-but TRUMP!!!!!!!!
Excellent retort cytotoxic
Stop proving yourself even a bigger fool. Hilarious.
"Why are all the Trump defenders here"
Hey look at the idiot Jeffmike pretending he's the Sheriff.
Jeezus, pathetic
You've already outed this sock multiple times retard, you might as well stop lying. You look like a big enough piece of shit without adding compulsive liar on top of it.
A major domestic terrorist attack perpetrated by a Saudi national that made headlines in every major newspaper and news organization in the country hasn't been mentioned once anywhere on this website while a local zoning ordinance, a rebooted lesbian TV series, 3 impeachment articles, and a fundraising pitch all made the cut on the same day.
No one has ever mistaken Reason for a news organization, but they do cover national news items every single day of substantially lower importance. The only reason this story wasn't covered is because it blows up (or shoots up, if you'd rather) Reason's narrative on mass migration and Islam apologetics.
But they wrote about a Saudi journalist/MB agent being murdered in Turkey, so completely ignoring a Saudi terrorist killing US soldiers on a US base doesn't indicate anything!
Is your complaint that Reason wrote bout the Khashoggi incident occurred? Do you want them to cover US relations with Saudi Arabia or not?
I'm not sure what Dwayne Wade and others want Reason to say. They could say the obvious: that it was terrible; that it was an act of terrorism; that it calls into question our alliance with Saudi Arabia, and our training their military.
I'm sure you would complain if they talked about Trump's response to the shootings, saying it is more Trump bashing.
That would be a way to cover it.
Regardless, you'll continue pleased that this progressive water carrying mag covers selective issues with their typical partisan and subjective slant
The shooting didn't involve any immigrants. If we look at what Reason has written about US relations with Saudi Arabia, it looks like they are generally critical of our alliance with the Saudis:
https://reason.com/tag/saudi-arabia/
I assume that being critical of the Saudis is what you would consider the correct position to take after a Saudi shot a bunch of people in one of our naval training centers. Let me know if you have a different view on that.
It didn't need to in order to destroy Reason's narrative about how safe and harmless are the hundreds of thousands of Muslim migrants they wish for us to relocate and resettle at taxpayer expense.
Right up until it ran afoul of their narrative. That's the point. You're slowly catching on. But then that's the only way you can.
The only reason this story wasn’t covered is because it blows up (or shoots up, if you’d rather) Reason’s narrative on mass migration and Islam apologetics.
I hope you realize that the shooter and his buddies didn't immigrate here, they were imported here. They're members of the Saudi military receiving training from the US military. You know who runs the program that lets our allies, like our good friends the Saudis, send members of their military here to receive training? Do you know who the Commander in Chief of that particular organization is?
See, there's good Muslims and there's bad Muslims and we really need to stop allowing Muslims into this country until we can figure out which are which, but there's no question Royal Saudi Air Force 2nd Lieutenant Mohammed Saeed Alshamrani is one of the good ones. And Trump's good friend the King feels really bad some of his subjects did this thing, almost as bad as how some of his other subjects did something on 9/11.
Stick to bad comedy.
B-b-b-b-b-b-b-but DRUMPF!!!!
All of that is what the point is not. Everything you've posted is a non-sequitur.
Trying to make this news story about immigration is quite a non-sequitur.
We didn't know what we were doing. We didn't have the foggiest notion of what we were undertaking...

"President Donald Trump is reportedly mulling 14,000 more U.S. troops could be deployed to "help" in the Middle East."
That report originally came out via the Wall Street Journal last Wednesday, and the report was denied by the Secretary of Defense.
"WASHINGTON—Defense Secretary Mark Esper said in a statement Friday that he is “not considering sending 14,000 troops” to the Middle East.
His statement follows a Wall Street Journal report Wednesday that the Pentagon was considering a significant expansion of the U.S. military footprint in the Middle East to counter Iran, including dozens more ships, other military hardware and as many as 14,000 additional troops"
Incidentally, the Pentagon is mulling more troop deployments everywhere at all times. For one, they always want more money, and more troops deployments is one way to get it in the budget. Another reason is that they presumably have a plant to invade or defend against an invasion in every country of the world. The time to start thinking about what the U.S. military would do if we wanted to contest a Chinese invasion of the Philippines, South Korea, or Zimbabwe is not after the invasion starts. With all the money the Pentagon gets, they better have contingency plans on how to strike and defend targets all over the world--and plan their hardware purchases and orient their training accordingly. Mulling troop deployments is their job. If they weren't doing it, they'd be negligent.

"the Pentagon is mulling more troop deployments everywhere at all times."
Muller Reports.
With all the money the Pentagon gets they have $500 hammers. But I agree with the rest about being prepared everywhere.
The thing about the $1000 wrench is that not only will it remove a bolt, you can use it to tighten a bolt too.

First of all, who knows how long they can keep that up? The Chinese economy is already faltering, and now that central planning is one again growing in the Chinese economy, it doesn't seem like that's going to improve. And what's going to happen when the money runs out? You get to leave? LOL

Has anyone at REASON reported, even once, that there has been a 4-year widespread attempted coup of President Donald Trump? Seems worth mentioning, maybe even denouncing.
The report by the FBI's Inspector General about that is reportedly being released today, but if it gets mentioned here at Reason, it'll probably only be to mischaracterize it.
The biggest story of the day is probably that the Justice Department's Inspector General is expected to release a report several hundred pages long detailing the FBI's surveillance of the Trump campaign in 2016.
Why wouldn't that be the biggest story of the day?
Early indications suggests the report will say that FBI had adequate reasons to seek a FISA warrant against members of the Trump administration's campaign staff--but that they went about it improperly, which, to my mind is another way of saying that they screwed the pooch.
Saying that they should have been able to obtain the warrant from the FISA court anyway, without the bullshit, doesn't change the fact that they perpetrated surveillance on a presidential campaign with a warrant based on bullshit that they knew was bullshit.
"Early indications suggests the report will say that FBI had adequate reasons to seek a FISA warrant"
All the reasons they had were fabricated by the surveillance agencies. So, their reasons were not adequate, not even close.
Expect government to cover their own ass.
Exactly.
It isn't up to the FBI to say whether the reasons for a FISA warrant are acceptable. That's up to a judge.
Last time I checked, there were less than 20 times (out of thousands) that a FISA warrant was rejected by a judge--and two of those times were times when the judge rejected a FISA warrant to wiretap members of Donald Trump's campaign team.
The report, apparently, will say they had sufficient reason to seek a warrant without the Hillary campaign funded bullshit from Steele--regardless of whether the FISA court agreed. Butting in the Steele bullshit, when you knew it was bullshit, and hiding its provenance as being funded by the Hillary Clinton campaign, that's a separate issue. There's no justification for that.
One FBI agent is apparently already under investigation or being prosecuted for altering an email.
I have a problem with secret courts, period.
But lets say that the investigation was proper. The unmasking of someone caught up but not the target was wrong and probably unlawful.
Saying that they should have been able to obtain the warrant from the FISA court anyway, without the bullshit, doesn’t change the fact that they perpetrated surveillance on a presidential campaign with a warrant based on bullshit that they knew was bullshit.
It also severely undercuts their case. "We had probable cause, and the sources we used to justify the warrant are either fan fiction or of a secondary nature. But it's totes legitimate, we swear."
The report apparently include the crime Page was supposed to have committed, despite it being central to the warrant, nor will it cover the absence of exculpatory evidence or even validated evidence in the warrant. Sounding like a cover up by the IG.
Page never being charged with a crime really blows this whole thing up. If you hire John Gotti to do some work on your campaign you can maybe understand the Feds getting a little pushy with warrants, but if the supposed conduit for all this Russian espionage can't even get charged with a parking ticket you know the whole thing is a sham.
Not wrong

One of the most annoying things about the new "ban porn" debate is that it seems to be revolving around whether porn is good or healthy. That is exactly the wrong question. The right question is, "is prohibition an immoral, costly (in terms of lives and treasure), and destructive activity?" The answer to that question, following the war on drugs, is a decisive yes.
Sure Jeff.

The biggest story of the week is probably the vote in the UK.
If Boris Johnson wins a majority, the UK will be able to leave the EU under the terms of the agreement that Boris Johnson negotiated with the EU. In fact, if Boris Johnson wins a majority (and the polls suggest he will), it will mean that the UK will be out of the EU by the end of December.
I suspect plenty of anti-Trump Americans are reflexively rooting against Boris Johnson because they see him as a proxy for President Trump. They think his victory will be a victory for populism, and they don't want that to be the case going into 2020, when they hope President Trump will lose the election.
There is at least one big reason why libertarian capitalists should root for Boris Johnson to win a solid majority in parliament.
1) International trade
The EU bills itself as a free trade bloc, but that's only if you're inside the EU. Many of the fears that are making so many people in the UK dread leaving the EU is about their fear of becoming like the United States in terms of its trade relationship with the EU. This demonstrates that the EU may allow for freer trade within the EU, but the EU is actually a trade barrier to everyone outside the EU.
If and when the UK leaves the EU, it will have the freedom to negotiate a trade agreement with the United States--without any input from the EU. That means more opportunity for freer trade between the UK and the United States. If you think international trade is a good thing (especially between countries with similar standards of living), then the UK leaving the EU and being free to negotiate a trade agreement with the United States is a good thing.
Right?
Right.
Especially with Corbyn as the opponent, yes.
You think so Jeffmike?
Is everyone who disagrees with you a sock? I've been around longer than Jeff and Mike actually (you will find comments from me around 2011, I just stopped posting for a while).

This is a lie jeff.

I love that you think I'm trying to engage you when all I'm trying to do is spread the idea that you're a sockpuppet.
It isnt for you. It never was.

A Corbyn defeat and disgrace will be good for the UK and the world.
This Johnson?
Mr Johnson said: “I think Donald Trump is clearly out of his mind if he thinks that’s a sensible way to proceed, to ban people going to the United States in that way, or to any country.
“What he’s doing is playing the game of the terrorists and those who seek to divide us. That’s exactly the kind of reaction they hope to produce.”
And on the claim of “no go areas”, he added: “I think he’s betraying a quite stupefying ignorance that makes him frankly unfit to hold the office of President of the United States.
“I would invite him to come and see the whole of London and take him round the city – except I wouldn’t want to expose any Londoners to any unnecessary risk of meeting Donald Trump.”
Mr Johnson also said: “The only reason I wouldn't visit some parts of New York is the real risk of meeting Donald Trump.”
I think the UK should be free to set its own immigration policies as it sees fit, and I think Donald Trump should be free to criticize whatever he likes. Immigration will be more under the UK's own control post-Brexit if Johnson wins, and Trump will still be free to say whatever he likes.
I also think that a trade agreement between the UK and the USA will be of great benefit to both our economies and strike a blow for capitalism in the world, and I don't see how your comments address, much less counter, that argument.
I've got no problem with Johnson. If he were running for election here he'd be considered a Democrat.
You're really just confirming that the left-wing blimpouts over him are due to the narrative pushed by the press that he's the British version of Trump.
Nothing on cops using unarmed citizens as human shields in Florida? Too local?
wait, what's this now?
https://youtu.be/WW3Y4xtccUQ
holy shit. Whoever made the call to do this needs to be held criminally responsible.
True. I am no expert in police tactics, but I do know gun safety rules such as "know your target and what's behind it" and I'm guessing a busy intersection would not qualify. That was a total shit-show, tactics should have been contain, evacuate citizens, and negotiate for hostage and surrender. A whole bunch of someones went full Rambo mode and caused the deaths of two innocent people. At least the cops made it home for supper safe and in a timely manner.
They shot the hostage and used civilians as shields, heads need to roll. If I had been one of the folks trapped in the car, I'd have done my best to drive off, and fuck any cop stupid enough to be in the way.
All we're gonna see though is "we need more training" and maybe some administrative leave.

How is this unique to Afghanistan?
Hell I think this is more our M.O. A feature of our foreign policy not a flaw. It means we can act fast when we perceive our honor is at stake. Never have to second-guess ourselves once in. Never get out. And when our honor is offended a second time with some blowback from the first - rinse and repeat.
Works pretty nicely for the defense industry.
Part of the reason Trump's contempt for his State Department hasn't hurt him politically is that Americans have already seen what foreign policy under "the experts" looks like and have decided a loudmouthed TV reality star couldn't do any worse.
Yes, and Trump is also assisted by the Democrat's condescending attitude toward people in flyover states.
What about fly over country's contempt for the good people who live in cities? Since we're speaking in generalities wouldn't you agree that they are more or equally as contemptuous?
You are right about contempt. Both major parties are contemptuous of each others' core constituencies, which break down into urban people and rural people. (Roughly. In reality, the country is more purple.)
I still think the Democrats may be in the lead in being condescending (as opposed to contemptuous).
Problem is - mere contempt for the State Dept doesn't actually DO anything to solve the very real structural problems they themselves have in understanding what's going on. What they need is fundamental reorganization. Not a mere sneer. Same with NSA, Pentagon, CIA, etc
With State IMO what they lack is a)a fundamental understanding of what we Americans actually want or are willing to accomplish in the world or as our legacy as hegemon and b)the ability to gather info outside their diplococktail party circuit either in DC or when overseas.
With NSA/CIA, it is an excessive reliance on sigint rather than the harder humint.
Both are management problems not 'attitude' problems that can be solved with a sneer. And 'noninterventionists' really don't help when their alternative talks about nonintervention but is actually based more on willful ignorance as a justification for nonintervention.
With sigint, you get to sit in a nice air conditioned cubicle with an ergonomic desk and an Aeron chair.

politicians running wars same as politicians running campaigns.
"the cool kids of the left" turned on Elizabeth Warren.
So in addition to being a faux socialist, she's into kids?
>>“the cool kids of the left”
don't know where to begin with the laughing
As I recall, the Russians left Afghanistan.
So Trump has to stay there to keep the left from saying he is following the Russians.
We may not have known what we were doing when we went in, but it sure seems we know exactly what we’re doing now that we’re there.

Oh, boy. So, we'll withdraw from Afghanistan after all the minerals have been plundered.
Give it another 20 - 30 years.
Of course, we've known for at least a decade that Afghanistan has large deposits of valuable minerals. A soviet survey revealed that years and years ago at least, and we were saying even at the time that it was probably a cause to go to war.
Why is it suddenly news now, after being buried for decades by the same publication?
Hell, even more interesting go and check out a few resources on who holds lithium deposits and notice that plenty of publications don't even list Afghanistan. Possibly because the deposits are hard to 'prove' in a war zone, but also possibly because no one wants to notice. After all, lithium is specifically something that high-technology nations need a lot of at this point.
"is especially harmful to children who consume it at exponentially younger ages today"
*sigh* nobody knows what exponentially means
Irregardless, literally nobody cares.
nobody could care less, you mean
Which begs the question of what you care about it the first place.
I care, man. Soon we will have 0.000001-year olds consuming porn.
Too late, it's already passed the zero line into 'hey horny I'm horny.'
Online spending? You better or we will fine you.

It's a penaltax.
Every single detail "exposed" in that WaPo report was something more or less already available to anybody who had paid even the slightest attention to the 2decade clusterfuck in Afghanistan
The thing i think implicit in the story is the failure of the media itself - WaPo included - to have bothered keeping these issues on the front pages during 8 years in the Obama admin, when the US engaged in a mammoth doubling-down on stupid, while simultaneously reducing the amount of coverage+attention being paid to the region.
Our govt got away w lies for decades b/c nobody in the press bothered to raise a stink about it.
The same more or less goes for Syria, where similar misrepresentations have been aided and abetted by the press.
It's because there really isn't anything like investigative journalism in the major media outlet anymore. It's all about dramatizing everything to bring in viewers (and ad revenue). Chaos, confusion and fear, sells ad space. They barely dip a toe into the news pool before they're running off to the next thing.
"Nation-building" is a bad basis for foreign policy, we should get rid of it.
More importantly where did Baby Yoda come from?
My theory is that he is a clone and is wanted to further develop the Yoda clone program.
So why does a hard tough ass Mandelorian violate his code to rescue him and become a fugitive.
We know he has powers. I think he is using his Jedi powers to influence people to protect him. Or he is just cute as the dickens.
But they will be very pleasant once THEIR liars are in control. as india election result over now till 2024
