In Nebraska, Fairbury Public Schools has announced it is expanding its drug-testing program to include nicotine. Students who take part in sports and other extracurricular activities are subject to random drug testing. The school system is also looking at placing sensors in school restrooms that can detect vapor from e-cigarettes. Superintendent Stephen Grizzle says smoking and vaping "is reaching epidemic proportions."

Everybody knows that smoking ain't allowed in school.
Eddy, don't you fill me up with your rules.
Can taxpayers subject the teachers and other staff to random drug tests?
I didn't think so.
The people the taxpayers need to subject to mandatory drug testing are the members of the school board.
Students who take part in sports and other extracurricular activities are subject to random drug testing.
Can't afford to have weezers on the team when a championship could be at stake.
In related news, the Israeli Ministry of Health called me to thank me for the reduction in tobacco sales they've noticed in Tel Aviv ever since I moved here.
Treating vaping like smoking is stupid and needs to stop.
Science denier.
Vaping looks like smoking, so it must be smoking.
Otherwise, how can they regulate products with no tobacco like it was tobacco?
Welcome to the revolution.
What if i just hold a plastic straw in my mouth like a cigarette?
Oh wait, that’d be even worse because plastic straws are pure evil, according to a nine-year-old kid’s school report.
"I'm not falling for your ruse, straw."
When I turned 18 we were allowed to smoke cigarettes in the teachers lounge during the winter because it was too damn cold outside .
Nicotine and caffeine are both plant-based alkaloids that act on dopamine receptors in the brain.
No more coffee for students who are not morning persons.
Back when I was in high school, my buddy fell asleep during his 1st period class. So, naturally, our teachers suspected him of being on COCAINE. First off, cocaine doesn't make you sleep, so wtf? Also, teens fall asleep in 1st period sometimes, they tend to stay up late.
They had the school resource officer search his car and found a souvenir knife from Peru in his trunk. They expelled him.
That must have been a long time ago; they didn't shoot his dog.
It's all about the stacks of tax revenue.
The ever expanding regulatory state. More to come...
It does that to meet the needs of the ever expanding regulatory state.
More evidence that school districts have too much money to spare if they want to waste money to test kids for drugs and nicotine.
Honestly, its none of the school's business if the kids smoke or use drugs off campus. Its up to the parents to decide those things.
Cut school budgets by 50% for starters and see the desire to test kids disappear into #MemoryHole
Everyone knows that e-cigarettes lead to anabolic steroids!
can there be a vaping epidemic?
Just as soon as vaping becomes contagious
