Louis CK's Politically Incorrect Comedy Didn't Change. You Did.
The #MeToo-ed comedian jokes about Parkland kids and transgender pronouns in leaked footage of his new routines.

Comedian Louis C.K., who fell from grace after admitting in November 2017 that he had serially masturbated in front of various women, is back in the news after audio footage of his new material leaked online. The set, performed at a Long Island comedy club called Governor's on December 16, at various points mocks the Parkland kids, takes young people to task for being preoccupied with gender pronouns, and discusses the dick sizes of various ethnic groups.
In other words, the new stuff is pretty much exactly in line with Louis C.K.'s previous material, which was equally dedicated to the slaughter of sacred cows. His 2008 special, Chewed Up, for instance, opened with him using the word "faggot"—he moved onto the c-word and the n-word shortly thereafter—and ended with him joking about masturbating on 9/11.
You might not think this kind of humor is funny, and that's fine. Moreover, you might think Louis C.K., who initiated sexual situations with unwilling women, is a creepy person who has lost the right to joke about uncomfortable subjects. That's also fine. But it would be silly to pretend that Louis C.K. has undergone some sort of change or deliberate pivot. He's just doing his same old shtick.
But many in the media have seized upon the idea that Louis C.K. has suddenly became a right-winger—that his new material is some dramatic departure from his pre-scandal days as a woke comedy icon. "Audio of a New Louis C.K. Set Has Leaked, and It's Sickening," warns Slate, striking the tone of a nun listening to Eminem for the first time. The Daily Beast accuses Louis C.K. of "pandering to the alt-right," which is quite the broad categorization; the tons of people—New Yorkers, presumably—who can be heard laughing in the background of the leaked footage would probably be surprised to learn that they take their cues from Richard Spencer.
I can't recall very many people on the left complaining that Louis C.K. was pandering to pedophiles when he joked about normalizing child rape so that rapists would be more likely to let their child victims live. On the contrary, GQ placed that joke on its list of the 10 best Louis C.K. skits, hailing him as the most transgressive and celebrated comedian "of his generation."
Those who suddenly find themselves balking at Louis C.K.'s edgy material should admit that the comedian didn't really change. They did.

using the word "faggot"
Too bad there's already an "f-word", eh?
Faggot
It's also a meatball.
"Fishwife"?
Or were we not talkong about you?
I was interested by the words Robbie would and wouldn't spell out. Is it based on a Reason rule, or self preservation, or what?
Also, which c word?
Comedy. The harshest of words for the #woke.
Capitalism
I still use the word faggot. Especially for Tony. Funny thing is, I would call him that even if he was straight. It just fits him so well.
I for one think its hilarious that he thought he was one of them and then they turned on him.
Its like when they start removing MLK statutes and street signs and changing the names of Roosevelt High Schools. People like Soave will be shocked. Absolutely shocked.
"Moreover, you might think Louis C.K., who initiated sexual situations with unwilling women, is a creepy person who has lost the right to joke about uncomfortable subjects."
I can understand not wanting to listen to his comedy after finding out he is an actual creep. I think there has to be a bit of suspension of belief for humor to work. But the outraged grandstanding is so tiresome. Whatever happened to forming an opinion that you don't need to publicize to the world
Never heard of the guy before, but he sounds funny.
Hey, NOBODY has the right to joke about uncomfortable subjects. Said every PC progressive snowflake. And most women.
Those women never left HIS hotel room immediately, did they?
Of course they did. They giggled, squealed, watched, waited for him to finish, and then they left. They are truly victims.
Every stroke requires affirmative consent. Period.
Whatever happened to forming an opinion that you don't need to publicize to the world?
The Internet.
"...after finding out he is an actual creep."
Since when did masturbating before a willing audience become creepy? Looks around. Would that be a technical violation of NAP? Beats (off) hands on Harvey.
Comedy is dead in the PC dictatorships of lefty-stan!
https://aladyofreason.wordpress.com/
Lefty Stan was the best pitcher on our company softball team, until Righty Steve showed up.
The pitchers name?
Tomorrow.
The progressive left are the new 'I got a 2x4 stuck up my ass' witch hunters. I'm surprised Tipper Gore hasn't seized the opportunity to rekindle her crusade.
But they see no problem whatsoever with the constant bashing of Trump on the talk show circuit. That's a hoot and speaking truth to power! Their power.
Very scary people.
Ripper Gore? Probably too busy working on stirring whatever happens to be in her cauldron currently.
Witch hunt? That's offensive!
So in that other other other other thread I made the judgementless observation that sparky seems to constantly be scolding people, and the not very bright Fagamammon proved he doesn't know the difference between scolding someone and observing thwir behavior.
It was deeply embarassing for both the scold, sparky, and the idiot, fagamammon.
Louis CK was never funny.
Amen
But now he's *edgy,* right?
He's funnier than Amy Schumer.
And Steve Harvey.
And Whitney Cummings.
And Wanda Sykes.
And....
Talk about setting a low bar.
That's called " invting Sparky"
...and Oprah
....and Ellen
I like Ellen... I haven't heard her new special but I like her classic standup a lot.
Its mostly women. I was forced to watch it. Could not take more than 15 minutes.
She is a lesban and watch the jokes fly!
Its sad. Plenty of jokes about lesbians and their women lovers. That is always no go though.
She had a kind of self-deprecating but sharply perceptive Bob Newhart quality to her standup. Now she's in the Pi Gappa Lappa sorority, not so much.
She has chops. Her timing and ability to engage the audience on a good day is near flawless. You nailed it with the Bob Newhart comparison, would not have thought of it. She is also Dory the fish so she has that going.
Steve Harvey is the antifunny.
He's one of the best at comedy. Ask any of the top comedians. Burr, Rogan, attel all say he is near the top. The guy is hilarious. He just doesn't sugarcoat jokes.
I get that people like Jeselnick aren't very popular due to how dark they are, but Louis has always been a top comic amongst comics.
What one finds funny is entirely subjective. I've always thought Louis CK is a riot, right up there with my favorite comics. I totally support his act and am disappointed that he's not likely to make anything else like his great TV show "Louie," thanks to the advertiser whoring of network TV, though I don't see why he couldn't make a well-deserved comeback with another self-produced thing like "Horace and Pete."
Many comedians slaughter sacred cows . . . that's part of the humor, breaking taboos by calling them out for their hypocrisy and sheer stupidity. The so-called "new breed" of comic that panders to the younger snowflake crowd is a tiny fraction of the standup scene and entirely forgettable . . . who are they again?
The incessant reporting on piddling little bluenose outrage is idiotic and part of the continuing deterioration of journalism caused by assholes who know nothing about legwork, who get all their information and leads from that cancerous 21st-centuiry shittrain, ANTI social media.
Thanks to "Reason" for being . . . well . . . reasonable.
Louis even says in his set things like 'go ahead, be offended, you're supposed to be. Go ahead and post about it to social media. I'm already destroyed!' He knew there would be spectacular poutrage.
He is a non-person now. Doesn't he know that? He is supposed to shut up and go away or preferably die.
The set is hilarious.
New comedy is now dubbed emo comedy. It is just "comics" getting on stage and giving hour long speeches. It is embarrassing and not funny.
In Nu Comedy (or Comedy Brut, as they prefer, implying a measure of untrained honesty and primitive inspiration. Or, as we might say "shitty comedy"), they are allowed to make jokes, as long as they are Bush I and Bush II jokes with "Trump" inserted.
Might as well call it 'no comedy' or 'non comedy'.
He is always funny. Just listened to the new audio at Governors, thanks to this article.
BINGO-BANGO-BONGO!!!!
Jerking off in front of nonconsenting women seems like a bad thing to me.
I'm sure most comedians are upstanding citizens, but you can certainly see how the comedy business might attract *some* people with LCK type behavioral traits.
At least he didn't date rape anyone.
And just so I'm gender-neutral and so forth, it would be wrong to jerk off in front of anyone who hadn't clearly signified that they wanted to see it. And then they should get a private room.
He was in a private room, his hotel room. He asked them to come to his room after a show, he pulled out his thing and started whacking it. Neither objected. Neither said a word. By their own accounts. Now maybe he should have asked, though we don't know that he didn't, but staying and hanging out after he whacked it in their presence wasn't the right move either. They should have objected and left. They didn't. They chose to make an issue of it later.
His hotel room. If you're a woman, and you go to a man's hotel room, you have to expect a move will be made. His was creepy, for sure, but it wasn't illegal, it was t assault and they could have stopped it. They did not.
I'm buying a ticket, if he retracts his candy assed apology.
Women know how to shut down a man. Women know how to leave. They shoukd have.
+10
I had somehow gotten the impression that they were in the green room before or after a show, that shows how much I know.
Now, he's not raping anyone and, while I can't say he kept it in his pants, he didn't put it where it wasn't wanted.
And if it was in hotel room to which the women had accepted an invitation, the situation looks more favorable for him - not that I would endorse such goings on, but I wouldn't call the women victims - if what you describe is all that happened.
"If you're a woman, and you go to a man's hotel room, you have to expect a move will be made"
While I agree with this sentiment, since when is whipping out your dick and jerking it "a move"? Maybe I'm missing something. Or maybe I'm just old. To me, a "move" is faking a yawn and ending it with your arm awkwardly around her shoulder. Or leaning in for a kiss when she's clearly upset about some trivial bullshit. Not pulling out your cock and balls and going to town in front of someone who is clearly not into it.
Like what was his end game? Was he like, "And you know what is stupid? Trump's fucking wall. Hold on a sec while I rub one out. ... ... ... Ok, where was I? Oh yeah the wall. Mexico is never going to pay for it."
The biggest thing is I read he would block the exit and begin masturbating, which comes off as quite a bit more aggressive to me.
That's one spin on it that's emerged, but since it's a he-said-she-said I'd take that with a grain of salt.
"While I agree with this sentiment, since when is whipping out your dick and jerking it "a move"?"
Nobody said it was a good move.
Apparently it was good for him. *wink*
What was his end game? Seriously? I think he achieved his end game right there in the hotel room.
"Now maybe he should have asked, though we don't know that he didn't..."
According to the women, he did ask
"As soon as they sat down in his room, still wrapped in their winter jackets and hats, Louis C.K. asked if he could take out his penis, the women said."
"still wrapped in their winter jackets and hats"
Baby it's cold outside.
That's pretty considerate, really. That way, if they objected, they didn't have to get dressed again before leaving. Quite the gentleman.
Red Skelton?
The original Baby its cold outside from the movie is up on you tube. Red Skelton old school physical comedy.
I used to confuse Red Skelton with the Marvel Comics villain Red Skull.
Red Skeleton? I think Fred Hembeck did something like that.
I always thought Red Skelton was a Red Skeleton.
When I was a kid I also got it mixed up with Ed Sullivan for some reason.
Red was also a gentle man who laughed at himself as much as at anybody else, never used profanity, never indulged in racial or sexual humor, and worked on live TV with some of the best talent in the business. He could not find an audience today any more than could Carol Burnett, and we are the worse off for that.
"It's true, he DID ask, but I felt pressured to say yes because of the extreme power disparity, so it wasn't really consent." Subtext: "I'm still a good girl!"
Power disparity doesn't necessarily mean there was no actual consent.
Uhm he actually asked for and got their consent. The issue people complained about was that he was in "position of power" so that his asking was coercive.
So ? women are too weak to stand up to someone in a "position of power" who is offending them? Talk about fostering and encouraging a victim mentality.
His move to the far right started when he apologized to Sarah Palin.
makes me hate the punks twice as much. fuck them and their anxiety.
happy new year everybody! love this place.
As somebody who's never really found Louis C.K. to be particularly funny or groundbreaking, I've always been baffled by the excessive praise he received. I even tried to watch his TV show and found it neither funny nor especially interesting. So it's kind of odd to find myself defending the guy now that the mob has sniffed him out.
But then, I find myself defending a lot of people these days that I don't really care for. It must have something to do with common, human decency.
What is wrong with you people?
His story arc about getting on Letterman was absolutely brilliant.
I always found him to be kind of hit-or-miss, same as a lot of "raw honesty" type comedians. Some of their shit makes you laugh out loud and go "Yeah, ain't that the fucking truth!" and some of it just makes you go "Well, that's some ugly shit right there."
But nobody whose comedy is based on clear-eyed perceptions and brutal honesty can stay in the good graces of the woketarians forever, so good luck to him.

I don't think it's odd (or at least it shouldn't be). I think it probably means you have consistent moral principles.
I find it amazing how many people describe me as "defending person X" when what I'm doing is pointing out the falsehoods in the story. Pro-tip - if the truth is a "defense" against what you're saying, what you're saying is actually an unfair attack.
i.e., You're a LIAR.
FTFY
I've found his standup to be funny - but I've never seen him live and only in small doses.
The tv show . . . I don't think was intended to be funny. Its a cringe show. The cringiest of cringe shows. Any humor it has is from the over-the-top level of cringe in a scene.
If there is any group more obnoxious and in need of ridicule more than the transgendered, I am at a loss to think of who it might be. Good for Louis CK.
Vegans.
The Parkland High kids need a good skewering. David Hogg is the one beneficiary of white privilege I have ever seen,
The school jocks failed in their duties to beat that fpdrama kid mercilessly as they should have. And on a daily basis until he felt the need to harm himself
Look at the alternative. Which has worked out so well.
Women.
Correction: Stupid women.
Some "transgendered" are mentally ill and deserving of our sympathy.
All
FTFY
No, not all. There are several motivations and conditions that lead people to present themselves as the opposite sex. The term "transgender" erroneously lumps them all together. Some are mentally ill; some aren't.
"I can't recall very many people on the left complaining that Louis C.K. was pandering to pedophiles when he joked about normalizing child rape so that rapists would be more likely to let their child victims live."
Left/Right is too broad a category for the people we're talking about here.
We're talking about a few dozen people in Hollywood. They're the same ones who blackballed Norm MacDonald for . . . sticking up for his friends.
We're talking about people on Twitter who may number in the thousands.
It makes it seem like there are more of these people than there are to call them "the left". There aren't that many of them. What's that cognitive bias where we tend to pay attention to the loudest thing or the brightest color? I suspect that's the same thing that makes us imagine that 100 million Americans (AKA "the left) give a shit what Louis CK says about anything.
Turn off Twitter.
People who identify as the farthest-left category "Left-activist" make up 7% of the population, from a satisfactorily large random sample (20k? I don't want to look it up, but I remember thinking it sounded reliable. Moreso than "All of my friends and everybody at Starbucks on a Wednesday afternoon")
Among this group, I suspect Twitter usage is at 90% and their frequency of tweeting is in the top 10%. So it's possible that they may account for up to 20,. 25% of all tweets!! This would be a non-issue except current year "journalists" seem to treat "Twitter" as equivalent to "The World". Fuckers. I stop reading any article that references "Twitter outrage" or has any statement like "Twitter exploded", or "reaction on social media was swift and angry" etc. That ain't journalism and it's not reporting, or even a best-effort simulacrum of reality.
Not reading any such reportage is a second best reaction, and one that at least keeps me sane. (best reaction would involve serious violence...)
You're right. The only people who give a shit about Louis either way are a few hundred female comedians and actresses in Hollywood, and their well-placed friends in other media outlets. No one else, even on the progressive left, really cares.
Mr. Louis C.K. should be publicly flogged for the following violations:
Engaging in politically incorrect comedy.
Not having a valid free speech permit issued by our beloved Thought Police.
Thinking for himself without permission from the Ministry of Free Speech.
Advancing ideas, jokes, comments, etc. that are contrary to our ruling elites Guide on Proper Behavior in Society.
Making other members of the collective laugh, think and engage in beliefs and statements contrary to The State.
Chewing gum in class.
Exhaling without permission from the Department of Proper Breathing.
Eating red meat on a week day.
Putting one foot in front of the other while walking without the proper guidance from our Walker Nannies.
Not reciting Saint Karl Marx when speaking in public.
...and the worst of all, poking fun at the specified norms given to us by our obvious betters.
So, forget the flogging.
Just hang him...but only until he's dead.
We don't want to over do it.
Not very hard to figure out:
1. The New Left will not tolerate contrary or uncomfortable ideas.
2. Anything the New Left rejects is far right/fascist/Hitler.
Insecurity as a desirable social trait? Life is scary, I'm a victim and everyone except those I agree with are monsters. Honestly, they sound a lot like small children.
This is why comedians hate SJWs.
Its not even that 'they changed'.
None of the people bitching about LCK now had ever more than heard of the guy prior to the sexual assault stuff. They never went to see him and they never were going to see him - it just really pisses them off that other people don't take virtue signalling as seriously as they do.
What ever happened to just walking away or moving on? Why does everyone seem so bent on victimizing themselves. I won't defend the behavior of CK or many of the other #metoo perps but in plenty of those situations the supposed victim was free to leave. Just tell the offender he's a creep, grab your purse and walk the hell out.
I'd love to say I don't understand but I do. Most humans spend their entire existence as miserable, self-hating losers that don't believe they deserve whatever it is they have, even if it's earned, and the more fame and wealth one has the worse it seems to be. I guess the legitimate #metoo movement gives those short on self-esteem license to jump on the bandwagon and make themselves miserable in the process. Damn, people suck!

Progressives don't actually care about political correctness. They've always excused transgressions by their own. PC smackdowns have only ever been directed at people progressives dislike. It used to be totally okay for CK to say the n-word because progressives liked him. Now that they don't like him, he wouldn't be allowed to look at a minority without someone calling him racist.
Smart comedians often point out the truth ck is a smart comedian but left does not like smart people
There are plenty of comedians hated by righties as well.
"There's a fine line between clever and stupid"

When Lou CK had his show I always heard how great it was so I tuned in...the epi featured him wackin off somewhere.
I'm thinking...."WTF..? This show sucks..." A few weeks later I turned in again thinking maybe it was just a bad epi.
THIS epi (keep in mind...I picked two random episodes) featured Lou CK.....wackin off somewhere.....
So when I read about him wackin in front of female comics I figured Mr CK was doing show research....
I went to the Slate link and read the transcript of Louie's new routine....the reason some didn't find it funny was because Mr CK only said "Fuck or Fuckin" 800 times. Everyone knows REAL comedians say "Fuck" at least 1000 time a set....!
Personally, I'm tired of "edgy, pointing out the hypocrisy comics" it's been done to death...! Let's call it what it really is, Bithchin'/ Complaining....if I wanted to hear bitchin'....I would have stayed married....
Are there any comics who just tell funny jokes anymore...????
"...warns Slate, striking the tone of a nun listening to Eminem for the first time"
That's GOOD!
You watch... outraged puritans and the Junior Antisex League will find a way for a drunk driver to have a head-on collision with the guy. Folks will shake their heads at the coincidence, and remember Sam Kinnison and John Lennon.
What I find particularly galling is the outrage over his joke about Parkland. I get that the father of the one victim wouldn't find it funny, and that progressives will make a stink, but the idea that others are really blind to the potential humor there is almost funny itself. The idea that high school students should be leading the way on complicated constitutional questions and there's no pushback is one of those things most people will look back on and think, "wait a minute...". Especially given some of the stuff we all laugh at everyday, the joke seemed rather tame.
I just keep thinking of the Jim Jeffries joke about how he got protested because he made some rape jokes, but Bill Cosby never got protested and was able to get a full career in while actually raping people.

Why shouldn't high schoolers have a voice? Part of the problem of politics is that we shroud the workings of government in this mysterious gauze of worship and expertise, and make everything complex so that only trained lobbyists can feed at the trough. Fuck that. To me it comes off as grumpy old man shtick. The "pushing the fat kid in the way" bit was kind of funny though.
"Why shouldn't high schoolers have a voice?"
Nothing wrong with them having a voice. A little context would've been nice though.
Whenever people in their 50s start making jokes about how "young people these days with their transgender pronouns and their activism..." blah, blah, blah, they come off like out-of-touch geezers. I get why everyone under 30 is telling Louis CK to fuck off, the same way we all thought people like Milton Berle and Bob Hope should fuck off back in the 70s. I'm sure Louis will be selling out sets doing cranky old man shtick in Vegas for the next 20 years so I'm not too worried about him.
granite state destroyer....
I read a piece about all the new young comedians of color. I U-Tubed a bunch of them and heard brown guys complaining about white people....How are old guys complaining about young people any different than brown guys complaining about white people ? Or...lesbians complaining about straights...Or women complaining about men...ect?
It seems like stand up has degenerated into a bitch/moan fest dress up as..."pointing out the hypocrisy". Throw in a few F bombs and you have a killer set..!!!!
My problem with comedy right now is it's boring....no one is really different. Maybe there's a "stand up template" just like those web site templates...???
Last year College kids stopped Nimesh Patel mid set cause he told some gay jokes...Mr Patel is the ripe old age of
33. His mistake was not bitchin bout "old white people"...
The other point that the "Kill Louis" crowd is deliberately ignoring, is that this is a bootleg tape of material in progress. It would be odd indeed if this material were as sharp and well-timed as the stuff that Louis hones to a fine point for releasing as a comedy special, or album or otherwise for public consumption. If the SJW crowd actually wants to make America sympathetic to a chronic public masturbator, they are doing a good job.
"with unwilling women"
No Robbie. He asked, and they said yes. He's not a mind reader. Still makes him a creep though.
"Louis CK's Politically Incorrect Comedy Didn't Change. You Did."
I didn't.
"Those who suddenly find themselves balking at Louis C.K.'s edgy material should admit that the comedian didn't really change. They did."
Much better.
This is one example among others too many to count of how the left demonizes anyone and everyone it does not like. The ironic part is that the left pretends this is exclusively the province of the right. Michelle Obama, for example, talking about Bush 43 at his father's funeral, spoke of him as a kind and decent man and went on to bemoan the demonizing of political opponents ? which she attributed to Republicans and identified as something that sets Democrats and Republicans apart. Thus demonizing Republicans, and conservatives generally. The left is not only rabid but dishonest, and this faux controversy is merely the latest proof of it.
I even tried to watch his TV show and found it neither funny nor especially interesting. So it's kind of odd to find myself defending the guy now that the mob has sniffed him out.
