Dianne Feinstein Told the FBI About a Mysterious Issue in Brett Kavanaugh's Past, but #MeToo Speculation Is Premature
Anonymous officials claim the accusation involves a high school sexual misconduct case.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D–Calif.) has informed the FBI about a previously unrevealed issue in Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh's past. In a press release about the matter, she provided no other information, but the public speculation has already begun.
The New York Times spoke with two officials "familiar with the matter" who claimed that the information involves a woman's sexual misconduct allegation against Kavanaugh dating back to his high school years. The Intercept made similar claims, saying the woman is represented by Debra Katz, "a whistleblower who works with #MeToo survivors."
The woman has not come forward publicly, and her identity is unknown at this point. It's unclear whether the sources consulted by the Times and The Intercept have seen the document that Feinstein passed along to the FBI, which makes it impossible to gauge the seriousness of the information.
The Times story says Feinstein was made aware of this information during the summer, which raises the question of why she waited until Wednesday to share it with the FBI. There is, of course, a tactical reason to do so: Weeks ago, there might still have been time for the FBI to fully investigate the matter before November. An FBI investigation at this point could conceivably delay Kavanaugh's nomination until after the election, at which point the Democrats may have recaptured the Senate. None of this is actually likely to stop Kavanaugh's confirmation—and the Senate could still vote to approve Kavanaugh in the lame-duck post-election session, while the Republican majority holds—but the Democrats could make it a campaign issue to drive turnout.
So we find ourselves in a frustrating situation, where very few people have any idea whether the allegation is serious—remember, the alleged incident reportedly was something that happened in high school—and nobody knows if it's truthful. The Democrats could leak the information if they think it would hurt Kavanaugh's odds, although that would risk outing an alleged victim of sexual misconduct, which is a no-no. Keeping it secret, and letting the public's imagination go to work, is a smarter strategy if the allegation is questionable, mild, or both.
In short, Feinstein's announcement could very well be a bad-faith move, or it could be raising a genuine issue that is worth discussing but ultimately does not disqualify Kavanaugh, or it could relate to something very bad. Nobody knows which of these things is most likely, and we shouldn't pretend otherwise.

Me: Man, that "be kind to a socialist" article coming from Gillespie who goes out of his way to smear any and all libertarians that don't accept the status quo is peak stupid. I don't know how Reason could top that
Robbie: Hold my hair gel
I have it on good authority that Feinstein sexually harassed Moses when they were in school together.
She sent him a suggestive message on her tablet. He rebuked her on *his* tablet.
He refused to part her seas?
I'm just glad you were too tasteful to do a burning bush joke.
Or note that Onan *could* have had her.
What's crazy is that Feinstein was just found to have employed a Chinese spy for years. But, Reason never uttered a word, because the NYT was muted about the issue too.

Remember that when no Russia collusion is found
It's also "weird" that Reason has been completely silent on FBI leadership conspiring with CIA leadership to plant stories in main stream press.
How is that "weird"? That suits their strident defense of the status quo. But, remember they're libertarian, not conservative. They're totally original thinkers.
Skepticism of an entrenched self interested bureaucracy is so paleo libertarian.
Absolutely. Remember, Walter Block is a "neo-confederate" and the Ron Paul Movement birthed the alt-right. Also, be kind to socialists. Try to hear them out.
We call this, "pulling a Gillespie"
Progressivism is a hell of a disease
lets not forget about how John Kerry has admitted to have been working illegally with Iran to preserve the Iran nuclear deal
Heh.
It could be something like this.
That was a big scandal in the town of Bloomington, IL. Such a weird story.
Not all baseless conspiracy theories are the same. Some get spread by the mainstream media, while others are ignored because they complicate the narrative.
And as great defenders of the status quo, Reason only spreads those baseless narratives accepted by right thinking people.
The top levels of Google management conspiring to affect an election also being a nothingburger unworthy of their attention.
'All hands' meeting is one of those meetings where it's optional to show up and your job won't be on the line, right? The sort of thing where you'd be brainstorming on mission critical stuff like how to get your product out the door before the deadline and not bitching about who won the election and what you're going to do about it?
Well, you piss off Google and just who else is going to stream your shitty podcasts for free?
>>>we shouldn't pretend otherwise
are you not?
"a whistleblower who works with #MeToo survivors."
Is there someone who didn't survive #MeToo?

Well, my money is on option one.

I don't know about you, but I think this is some fine reporting by Soave.
"This thing might have happened or may be not. We don't know. But, also isn't Alex Jones the worst? That guy and his conspiracy theories, am I right?
But, seriously this may be big or it may not be. I don't know, because I don't even know what the topic is. But, all the right thinking people are concerned and I'm an individualist that follows the crowd"
That it involves an incident, reportedly, from HIGH SCHOOL --- no, I'm not betting on good faith anything.
Just think, in another 20 yrs. this could include mutually voluntary sexting.
Given that he did not rape her (after all, Feinstein knew of this months ago and didn't mention anything in the hearing), this penny-ante bullshit that Reason, normally, would mock.
Normally.
Progress, not liberty or individuality, is the new normal here at Reason
Phew, I'm still safe.
Well, my money is on option one.
It's the way to bet.
Cool.
Take down Kavanaugh - he's a bit too swampy for my taste, anyway.
I wish Judge Jeanine were younger...
But seriously, there's got to be some hardcore constructionist on that list Trump has.
And if not, maybe Ted Cruz gets a look.
Give the totalitarian socialists what they want.
But seriously, there's got to be some hardcore constructionist on that list Trump has.
Mike Lee was under consideration at one point. It would be a coup to let them tear down Kavanaugh for being wanting to demolish Roe v. Wade and doing whatever is alleged he did to this woman and then put up Amy Coney Barrett. Especially since it kinda sounds like Kennedy is more the reason why Kavanaugh's in the hot seat rather than one of the others.
The Times story says Feinstein was made aware of this information during the summer, which raises the question of why she waited until Wednesday to share it with the FBI.
1. Why is Feinstein aware of this? If Ed Murray buggers me in a broom closet, I don't get on the horn with Dianne Feinstein.
2. What does the FBI have to do with this? Is there a crime that's been committed?
3. If there was a crime committed, why does the reporting chain go from victim, to #MeToo activist, to Dianne Feinstein, to the FBI?
I admit I'm a bit of a political neophyte here, so go easy on a brother in your answers.
4. Why does Reason only think something is a story if it's in the NYT?

She's always available to listen, as she's not often up to much else.

Probably similar to the Clarence Thomas hearings
when all the "dirt" came out. Someone remembered
something minor from his past and contacted the
good Senator. I remember watching those hearings
late at night. What a joke.
Best bet: he kissed a girl when he was 16, and now she claims she didn't have a 15-page consent form filled out in triplicate.
Ahh, but the consent from that's... that's where I had them. They laughed at me and made jokes but I proved beyond the shadow of a doubt and with... geometric logic... that a duplicate key to her locks DID exist, and I'd have produced that key if...
Would a bowl of strawberries make you feel better?
Is that a sexual reference?
Wait, don't answer that. Everything is a sexual reference.
#MeTOOOOOO!!!!!!11!1!!
What else could it be when the captain calls a meeting of all officers at 1 AM?
Say what you will about Queeg, but he managed to avoid any ship collisions. That's more than we can say now.
Aaaargh - how can you make that reference and not get Rat's?!!!!11!!!111!!!~!!1!!!!1111
So just fill out a form and a minor can legally consent?
He's 53. Assuming normal ages and grade progression, these accusations will be at least 35 years old.
Not buying it for a second. I barely bought any of it during the Roy Moore thing (how quickly that went away, eh?), and I'm sure as hell not believing it now.
It worked with Roy Moore, so they will keep doing it until it doesnt work.
If right-wingers would stop molesting underagers, or boasting about assaulting women, or paying off raw-dogged porn stars while their wives recuperate from childbirth, or pushing their mistresses to get abortions, or . . . I guess that list is endless, so let's just say that if right-wingers weren't such hypocrites, boors, and creepy criminals, the "Roy Moore" thing wouldn't work.
Good thing the Left has been totally free of sex scandals all these years!

They were both is high school when this event supposedly happened. I think it is ironic that people who swore that sex did not matter when it was Clinton being accused of all types of sexual crimes, including rape, that you are all now suddenly the morality police. So basically, your side is permitted to do anything they wish and everyone will be held to a different standard that is more strict and has no statute of limitations. Gee, I have to wonder if you have ever done anything in your past that might be called into question, "Reverend". Where is all that understanding, compassion and forgiveness that usually is associate with people who use the title of Rev. ?
Not many people know this story. As Hillary Clinton says: Every survivor of sexual assault deserves to be heard, believed, and supported.

According to other news sources
"It purportedly describes an incident that was relayed to someone affiliated with Stanford University, who authored the letter"
so someone told someone who then wrote about it then forwarded it someone who then sent it to Diane Frankeinstein. This has as many players as the Russian dossier letter and just as unbelievable
I love seeing triple hearsay described as anything but bullshit.
Reason's pattern of vacillations between profound skepticism and complete gullibility based upon the principals involved is troubling, to be sure, but not dispositive of mendacious intent.
They are creatures of the journalism profession and they tend to buy into the conventional wisdom of that clique.
I love seeing triple hearsay described as anything but bullshit.
At this point, it's still anonymous triple hearsay. I'd still give odds of 10-20% that the source is 4chan.
That's possibly the most hilarious answer.
Soave, have you considered that maybe this is just the Russians? Maybe, you guys can put your tin foil hats on and try to find that prostitute who is going to bust the whole case open.

What are we doing to honor all of the lives lost to gropey men in power?
Some of us rebuke Ted Kennedy at every turn.
It takes real bravery to pimp a Democratic Party press release with absolutely no substance.
You're the real hero, Soave.
Says one more yahoo who swallows Trump's tweets whole (while pretending to swallow Trump).
Good to see another close minded bigot attempting to mock me for my healthy sexual fantasy.
I'll keep on swallowing huge loads, and you can keep on carrying on, clinger.
closed minded.
He's about as far from close minded as you can get.
Arty has to have a mind for a mind to be closed.
His mind's so open, everything escaped.
Of course this guy would show-up. Are you clutching your ascot right now with righteous indignation?
I heard from a friend of a friend who knows the Rev's cousin and apparently the Rev may be, allegedly, actively engaged in a child-slavery molestation ring.
Prove me wrong!
Let's all keep in mind that Kavanaugh is an authority-loving Republican anti-Bill of Rights asshole, shall we?
I realize the first libertarian impulse is to defend everything Republican do, but if he goes down it would be no great loss to liberty.
Maybe if your criticisms included the fact that he's bad on the 4th Amendment instead of screaming "Reeee- Roe v Wade" and "Reeee- super secret letter about something maybe" people might take you seriously when you make this point
No...no... it is much too late for that.
Its defending the ability to be free of bullshit accusations for 100% political reasons.
Kavanaugh will be confirmed.
Trump will then get to replace Thomas in 2019 when her retires.
Trump will also get to replace RBG and Breyer when they croak of old age and stupidity.
The sooner you get used to those realities the sooner you will jump from a bridge.
Don't be so confident. Recall that Robert Mueller has been tirelessly investigating #TrumpRussia for like 2 years now. He'll undoubtedly have something major to deliver to the #BlueWave Congress next year. Orange Hitler will be kicked out of office in 2019.
#TrumpRussia for like 2 years now
C- A truly devoted, non-satirical anti-Trump puppet would know the exact amount of time Mueller's been on the case.
Right. This should have been expressed as "So-and-so many days" to be really effective.
You guys leave OBL alone. He is doing God's work.
If he goes down because someone whispered a vague hint of an accusation in a witch-hunt atmosphere, it will indeed be a great loss for liberty. If he goes down because of some real views he holds about something, that would be okay.
This is why people get frustrated with you - you're 100% okay with gestapo tactics as long as they are being used against Republicans.
^ THIS
Imagine if Democrats pressed him about his views on the Fourth Amendment and we were discussing that instead. But, we can't do that. That's an actually fruitful conversation
Apparently Patrick Leahy did bring that up, and Kavanaugh gave and somewhat encouraging response. I think ENB posted about it earlier.
The reason why is because the Democrats don't really give a flying fuck about the nominee because they know they already burned that bridge to ground themselves. So, to help their supporters forget that this mess is literally their fault they turn it into a circus.
I'm not sure if it's even possible to hurt your reputation as a Democrat anymore. After the antics of Booker and Harris I don't know if there's a level they can sink to that won't be applauded.
Yeah, completely agreed and it's part of the degradation of society which has been ongoing, but steadily getting worse for at least 40 years.
The most worthless politicians allege all kinds of crazy things which cause people to get frustrated and ask things like 'How could they do that?".
Well they do it because they know they'll score points with the relevant groups from whom they receive campaign contributions and could care less if the end result is a coarser public discourse.
Their only incentive is keeping their job and increasing their power. Destroying this guy doesn't matter (though I doubt that this will destroy him, if it does, his family gets hurt badly and given even the laws in Diane's state have statute of limitations on these things which are much shorter than 30 years, she knows it's likely unproveable even if true).
It's cute how you think I'm going to buy into the idea that there are still rules about these things. Hashtag Garland hashtag never forget.
Oh, believe me, no one here is under the impression that you think there are any rules that apply to you. That actually completely confirms what I was saying about you - you see any and every tactic as okay when you or your team does it, but then scream bloody murder when the other side doesn't play fair.
Perhaps the most outlandish thing is that you have the nerve to call other people immoral.
I think it's amusing you bring up Garland given that there wasn't a circus, it was a point blank refusal to even consider him which is their prerogative. I've actually already made that point elsewhere. Especially amusing given the hysterics of Democrats over that as well since who was it again that nuked the filibuster?
You'd be pissed if they did it to you.
It pretty much beyond certain that this is a sleazy move by Feinstein who has not been particularly honest in her campaign against Kavanaugh. Going back to high school for an Anita Hill type accusation may be taking the cake.
She's doing her job. Democrats are annoyed that she's not releasing the details.
She is operating on gossip and innuendo perhaps bordering on libel and slander.
She's accusing him of a crime...falsely and maliciously, which is Defamation.
I predict that, just like the Pee Dossier, they will be even more annoyed if she does release the details.
You don't inspire wild speculation by releasing details.
remember when Madcow had Trumps damaging tax returns and all it did was prove he paid taxes.
Everyone assumes hetero sexual misconduct but it would be funny if Frankensteins accusations were of a homosexual nature.
It's not her job to do opposition research like he's running for her seat.
It's her job to ask questions that matter in a legal sense.
Nomination hearings are almost entirely political grandstanding.
I suppose there is now precedent that being a sexual predator does not disqualify conservatives from being on the supreme court.
It didn't disqualify progressives from the presidency, so, no. Apparently, as a country, we don't really care about that.
And note how all you need is a tweet from a (D) politician suggesting that there might some secret accusation for you to start just casually referring to Kavanaugh as a "sexual predator."
You would have made a perfect Inquisitor.
A high school boy is a "sexual predator". You lefties sure have broken the scale of prudishness.
Seems the world has forgotten a high school boy gets an erection is a light breeze. The fact girls exist is all that is needed to get them interested. All women have to do is objectively remember all the things boys did in high school trying to get their attention and/or into their pants.
"Svetlana, a foreign exchange student from USSR, liked to engage in the occasional golden shower. Being a prescient deep mole plant, Svetlana picked young Brett as her watering ground. She knew that KavenHawHaw, her pet name for little bushkin, would someday be a big fish in Amerika."
This is a direct quote from a Christopher Steele report delivered to Feinstein by her Chinese driver.
lol - so no facts given, all we know is third hand something may have happened in high school and you equate this unkown, unsubstantiated rumor with the accused being a sexual predator?
I mean I know you believe the kool-aid is like ambrosia, but seriously you don't have to drink it up every single waking moment.
I suppose there is now precedent that being a sexual predator does not disqualify conservatives from being on the supreme court.
The left supported Bill and Hillary for decades but is still convinced it's a conservative problem because they are simply unable to process information their superiors haven't blessed.
What a tool.
I suppose there is now precedent that floating like a duck does not disqualify witches from being on the supreme court.
Fixed that for you Tony.
Does her job require her to be a lying bitch?
".. woman's sexual misconduct allegation against Kavanaugh dating back to his high school years"
This shit is ridiculous.
These Lefties are playing with fire by making up stuff and dragging up high school bullshit.
if you are the victim of an actual crime, report it within a year or forever live with nothing being done.
"Hey, that sounds like a great idea!"
/Pope Francis
Easy there champ. Criticism is one thing, mockery is different.
At least I'm not as bad as Erasmus.
So, you both are probably following this much more than I. What is his possible justification for all of this? Is he just afraid the Priesthood can't lose people, or what? Because Francis seems to be holding his position well after the point that everyone knows what's happening. We're past the cover-up stage now and he's still making an ass of himself.
It would appear that Pope Francis realizes that he can survive this and so he's chosen to ignore the accusations. He's going to give the laity Cardinal Wuerl's head and then he's going to call it a day. Traditionalists seem to be none too pleased and there is some grumbling from the bishops.
Eddy probably has a more articulate view
So no attempted justification for him? Just pure "Fuck you, I can get away with it?"
I'm disappointed this happened, and it's a horrible thing. But the flagrancy in which he effectively seems to be denying any personal fault on himself, and how Francis seems to be completely ignoring calls for transparency are the most off-putting thing.
"He's going to give the laity Cardinal Wuerl's head and then he's going to call it a day."
Don't forget that he's holding another meeting about the importance of not raping/molesting/covering up!
But the problem doesn't stop with a single Pope, we have so many bishops who have shown themselves so incapable of doing their basic job of protecting their flocks that their authority is draining away to the secular government and the laity.
If this is what we are to expect from episcopal government, then the key Catholic premise that Christ appointed bishops to govern the Church is undermined.
We're going to need some better bishops, or just give up the whole enterprise.
Find some way to get rid of the current crop of bishops, then revive, at least in part, the idea that the people of each diocese get a veto (or a bigger role) in selecting episcopal candidates. The Pope could retain the theoretical power to appoint bishops unilaterally, but in practice avoid imposing a bishop whom the people haven't approved. Conversely, the Vatican can block the popular election of an unsuitable bishop.
Either the laity take part in choosing who will fill the *office* of bishop, or they'll drain the office of all its important powers.
That's part of it, but it's much bigger. Francis comes from the left wing of modern Catholicism: liberation theology, gay rights, making the Church more "modern" and "inclusive," and the rest. As I understand it, the traditional view was that even if a priest had homosexual urges, as long as he stayed celibate, it was a private matter. But it turns out that lots of priests are active, practicing homosexuals. Not only that, but they form a "gay mafia" that reaches the upper hierarchy of the Church, protects and promotes other gay priests, and tries to sabotage the careers of any conservative, traditional Catholic who opposes them. So it's gotten to the point where a cardinal can use a seminary as a harem for years, and it's somewhat known within the Church, but nothing is done.
Thus it's a political problem: the abuse and the coverup is closely connected with the gay mafia and Francis' own left wing of the Church, which is large and powerful. To stop the abuse and see justice done, he'd have to purge his own supporters and get rid of a lot of gays.
if you are the victim of an actual crime, report it within a year or forever live with nothing being done.
At the very least, expect to clearly and precisely articulate why it took this long to come forward and do so as up front and forwardly. It's cool if there are other victims or identities you want to protect, that makes sense. Vague, nebulous reasoning about taking DECADES to figure out you'd been raped makes it kinda seem like you weren't raped even if you were.
As a longtime proponent of the progressive - libertarian alliance, I'm proud of Senator Feinstein's handling of this issue. Kavanaugh was obviously unfit for the Supreme Court even before this latest bombshell. Now that we know he may have been accused of committing sexual assault while in high school, the case against confirmation is even stronger.
Call your Senators and tell them the baseball ticket scandal was bad enough, and this is the last straw. Get their promise to vote against this dangerous extremist.
#CancelKavanaugh
#MeToo
#LibertariansForFeinstein
I think you just made up that third hashtag.
I typically employ a mix of popular and obscure hashtags. If Feinstein's work is instrumental in defeating Kavanaugh's nomination, I might start a #FeinsteinForPresident one.
You are proud of her for handling this issue? Seriously? You are proud of her making an unsupported allegation without providing a shred of evidence or even the nature of the allegation in an attempt to destroy someone's professional career for political reasons/ You are proud of that behavior? You are insane,.
(He's also a parody.)
I called this weeks ago. You JUST KNEW that this was coming.
So YOU called Feinstein with the tip? You don't strike me as someone who works with #MeToo survivors.
For the right price, I'd say that YOU sexually harassed Anita Hill!
I'm guessing this was set up in advance.
What business would the FBI have investigating anything that was not a Federal offense, and even if true is well beyond any statute of limitations?
Didn't some Senator ask Kavanaugh if he had ever sexually harassed someone?
This is a Democrat party Hail Mary to deep staters in the DOJ. What they are hoping is that the letter will be accepted as substantiation of harassment and that they can make an issue of whether or not Kavanaugh was honest in his testimony.
And even if that fails, it's also a warning shot to anyone who might contemplate accepting a Trump nomination in the future.
The intent of the statement was to imply there is a crime to be investigated even though she knows it is all BS and there is nothing to find because it there were she would have taken this action long before now. If the accusation actually had merit, Feinstein would have not only referred it to the FBI in July but also presented it at the hearing to destroy Kavanagh and make it impossible for GOP Senators to support him. The fact she has actually not revealed anything other than this letter exists shows its contents were manufactured and everyone involved is being very careful to avoid being sued for slander and having Democrats look foolish again after the stunts by Harris and Booker that backfired.
Nobody knows which of these things is most likely, and we shouldn't pretend otherwise.
Should we pretend that the FBI will determine the most likely, then?
If Bill Clinton getting blowjobs in the Oval office was ok I have no prob with the Kav.
I love reminding people that we already had a national conversation about the President and sexual harassment, and the dems decided it was not worthy of removing a sitting president from office.
And it's unlikely that's the reason Trump will be removed from office, sexual predator though he may be.
Come on, Tony. Multiple credible allegations of RAPE against Clinton. Try to drop the partisan shill and embrace SOME moral standard once.
All of those women Trump is supposed to have had sex with were adults. In addition, unlike Slick Willie, Trump did not use his office or official position to intimidate women into sex. I think is is hilarious that people like you are so outraged by Trump and yet totally ignore the allegations made against Clinton of sexual harassment, and rape by Juanita Broderick, Paula Jones, Kathleen Willey as well as his known affairs with Monica Lewinsky and Gennifer Flowers. No one voted for Trump to be out moral leader, we voted for him because he said he could fix the economy and get it growing which he has done. I have always looked to my pastor for moral guidance, not the President.
I'm sorry, but this article is the funniest shit I have ever read at Reason. This is my favorite parody site
The New York Times spoke with two officials "familiar with the matter" who claimed that the information involves a woman's sexual misconduct allegation against Kavanaugh dating back to his high school years.
He pinched a girl's ass in the hall between classes, didn't he? I mean, it's no pubic hair on a coke, but you gotta give him some credit.
Supposedly it's about him and a girlfriend, while underage for their state, going to another state with a lower age of consent to have sex.
So maybe it violates the Mann act? Or not. But that was applied to a lot of black celebrities
Supposedly it's about him and a girlfriend, while underage for their state, going to another state with a lower age of consent to have sex.
If true, it shows that he's been wise beyond his years in law since he was a kid. That's not the kind of thing just any teenager would figure out.
He probably still has copies of the consent/waiver forms she signed. Subpoenas for everyone!
Or they could have had sex while standing at the midpoint of the Four Corners Monument.
The jurisdictional squabbles would have had the courts tied up in knots for years.
Supposedly it's about him and a girlfriend, while underage for their state, going to another state with a lower age of consent to have sex.
Wow! At first I was dubious of Robby's "but the Democrats could make it a campaign issue to drive turnout." statement. Now I'm wondering if he didn't mean 'in favor of the GOP'.
Gross.
you think two people fucking is gross?
no wonder you're such a miserable loser.
Supposedly it's about him and a girlfriend, while underage for their state, going to another state with a lower age of consent to have sex.
I can assure you no high school students would have paid any attention to AoC in the late 1970s/early1980s.
Interesting... The "immoral purposes" clause of the Mann Act wasn't removed until 1986. It should have been struck down as unconstitutionally indefinite long before that. At any rate, such an act could have been illegal under the Mann Act at the time. Is that really the position that Feinstein wants to take? That he had sex with his girlfriend and violated a law that was written to round up black men who dared to fuck white women? That's not very progressive...
"At any rate, such an act could have been illegal under the Mann Act at the time. "
Nope.
Nope? That's your legal analysis? Care to elaborate even a little? Prior to 1986, the Mann Act covered indefinitely broad immoral acts. It's very hard to say what could and could not be covered under it. Hence the word "could".
Both were minors so neither was able to give consent. In many states, the age of consent for a girl is lower than that for a boy. In Texas the age of consent for a girl is 17 but a boy is 18. So if this happened in Texas, both would be guilty. The bottom line is this is all BS and nothing more than a desperate attempt to smear Kavanagh to stop his confirmation. They are attacking him like they did Thomas and Bork, even though Bork was a lunatic.
She is said to have had this letter since July. She said nothing about it during the hearings but claims it has information about Kavanagh and women when they were in HIGH SCHOOL!!! Seriously, that is where we are going now? What is next? " I have a letter here than says at the age of two, Judge Kavanagh was seen running around his front yard wearing nothing but a pull up diaper." Feinstein is pathetic and so are the Democrats as a whole. When even the most liberal justice on the SCOTUS, RBG, says your tactics are out of line, you know there is a problem. So what we have is another anonymous accusation from someone who refuses to come forward sent to the Democrats by a lawyer associated with the #Metoo movement and know as a "whistleblower". Gee, I thought the American justice system was founded on the principle of innocent until proven guilty, but clearly in our "progressive, enlightened society", if you are a man don't piss off a woman because she can make an accusation and destroy your entire life without providing a shred of evidence.
Feinstein is an unprincipled hack. Color me shocked.
The concept of trying to use secrecy to bring down anyone is BS in a free world.
Since we've been encouraged to speculate. I'm guessing rape. Bill Clinton's Inquisitor had to be rapist. Lizards for life.
Fucking library fees come back and bite you in the ass every time.
He never returned the copy of Long Dong Silver that he borrowed from Blockbuster in 1991 - and now where's he going to return it to?
There is still a Blockbuster in Bend, Oregon. Because of fucking course there is.
I thought someone would remind me that Long Dong Silver isn't the name of a movie but the screen name of an actor. I'm glad you're all innocent of that knowledge; I wish I were.
They tried calling him a racist last week. That didnt work. Now they will try rapist and see if that sticks. Standard lefty playbook.
Meanwhile, per standard practice, they will continue to repeat the debunked lie that he wants to ban birth control. Say it often enough and people will start to believe it.
Guess all aspiring Supreme Court Justices will have to watch their step starting in elementary school, wouldn't want that "caught without a hall pass" in 3rd grade to block your confirmation.
Is there anybody the Dems don't have a dossier on? They make J Edgar look like an amateur.
Hmmm...let me see...when was the last time I remember...republicans went after a democrat for sex/political reasons...
Oh yeah: President Rapey.
So, is this a tit-for-tat on a two decade delay, or are democrats just hysterical prudish bitches?
Robby hasn't updated the post yet? FBI doesn't give a shit and passed the letter on to the White House for future-Justice Kavanaugh's background file
Is this what we've come to? An *allegation* about unspecified 'sexual misconduct' from over three and a half decades ago? In fucking high school?
And how convenient that it was apparently so traumatic that the supposed victim is part of the #MeToo gang who, for some reason, waited 35+ years to bring it up. Hell, waited until Kavanaugh was this far in to the vetting process to tell anyone. Hell, didn't just go to the media on her own.
No no to who? The Democrats have never been shy about revealing and tarnishing victims if it will help one of their own.
Just read report claiming that Kavanaugh and a friend locked a girl in a closet at a party at age 17. Let her out after a minute or two. Girl felt scared.
Damn Robbie...Your last paragraph was not worth writing / reading...again.
" Judge Kavanaugh, did you perform an unspecified sexual act with an unnamed female at some time during your high school career 40 years ago? Answer yes or no."
Nope, all of them had names.
The timing of the release about this letter clearly shows it is just a last ditch effort to derail his confirmation. Senators, including Feinstein met with Kavanagh, they had 30 hours of hearings to ask him about this allegation, and have requested answers to almost 1300 questions, yet not even a whisper until yesterday on the heels of the stunts by Kamala Harris and Corey Booker had both backfired spectacularly. The fact this letter was delivered by a known advocate in the #MeToo movement and the allegation is similar to the one made against Roy Moore is no coincidence. The only difference is when this event is supposed to have happened, Kavanagh was in high school. He is 53, so that means he graduated in 1983. So if it happened in high school, it must have happened between 1979 -1983. Being one year older than Kavanagh, I know there was a lot more happening in high school than just kids having sex. In addition, a high school boy having sex with a high school girl is sexual misconduct? The only reason Feinstein thinks this is terrible behavior is because when she was in high school they still wrote on stone tablets and girls were forced to take Home Ec. so they could learn to how to start a fire.
