Brickbat: Bazooka Joe

In California, the Berkeley Unified School District has placed on leave history teacher Alex Angell for bringing a deactivated bazooka to school. Video shot by a student shows Angell, who teaches advanced placement United States and world history at Berkeley High School, with the device, explaining how it was used.

That image is not a bazooka. That is a rocket propelled grenade (RPG). The image of the soldier holding one, in the linked article, IS a bazooka.
FYI: All bazookas are rocket launchers. Not all rocket launchers are bazookas.
Or hand held anti tank grenade launcher if you want to go pedant.
Ruchnoi Protivotankoviy Granatomyot.
Ruchnaya Protivotankovaya Granata.
Depending on what Russian model it is.
I wonder if Mueller is going to investigate this "Russian connection"?
The one in the picture is a launcher (granatomyot). The grenade (granata) variants were hand thrown.
You went full pedant. You never go full pedant.
I always forget that good advice.
Gratuitous lol!
Teaching moment?
The 2nd Amendment protects the right of the People to keep and bear arms (including bazookas and RPGs).
Looks like this war loving history teacher's career has been...

That link goes to a terrible awful spammy site and you should never link to it again. A Seattle site reporting on a Berkeley incident? You know there's got to be a better source.
But they do provide a link to the actual story as reported by a Berkeley source, where you'll find an update:
Update, April 24, 10:30 a.m. Nearly two weeks after he showed students a historic weapon and was placed on leave, Berkeley High history teacher Alex Angell has come back to work, said an administrator in an email to parents Tuesday morning.
"Mr. Angell returns to school today to resume his normal teaching schedule," said the email from Vice Principal Felicia Phillips.
From the comments, this guy is a favorite teacher and an angry internet mob scared the functionaries into letting the guy escape the social justice guillotine.
Thanks for the update. Leave to a non-staff Reasonite to set things straight.
Brickbats are often out of date by the time they hit the shelves around here.
Like sterilized milk in the navy, which we likened to super-evaporated milk, or condensed condensed milk. Boxes said "shelf life six months" and were usually a year or two old.
Powdered milk?
Just add water that ships and subs distill into potable water.
No, liquid. If you've never had it, consider yourself lucky. It was only tolerable in cereal or coffee, and then only if you added twice its weight in sugar.
From the comments, this guy is a favorite teacher
Not surprising. If I had a history teacher who brought in a deactivated bazooka, he probably would have been a popular teacher at my school too.
I had a teacher bring in a Nazi flag that a WWII soldier had brought back from the gates of Nuremberg. and this was in California in the 90s. Dude would be summarily executed these days.
I had a history teacher who dressed up as a Roman Legionnaire. I love history but he made history boring except for that day discussing the Roman Empire.
Props get kids attention, especially those that find history super boring.
I never had a teacher this cool.
The worst thing you can do in a union shop is outperform the others. 'Favorite teacher' was probably what got him placed on leave. The bazooka was just the excuse.
Since he could be punished for a photo of the equipment, the real deal (inactivated) could have been a pencil sharpener for all the harm it could produce. Let's not educate kids. Let's drive home the fear of . . . . Anything! And everything! Oh! And don't take opioids for your pain.
