Officials in Corsicana, Texas, removed a statue of a gorilla from a park after receiving complaints it was "offensive" and "racially insensitive."

Yes, that totally makes sense, if you look at a gorilla statue and get reminded of black people, that is a sure sign that *the statue* is racist. Not you, goodness knows, you're just a courageous SJW on the lookout for racism.

Saw Black Panther this weekend with my kid. There's a whole tribe of black people who identify with gorillas, complete with a huge statue. The black people who wrote, produced, and acted in that movie need to be informed of their racial insensitivity.

There is absolutely no rational basis to consider one of nature's creatures racist.
Whoever filed the 'complaint' needs to be reviewed under the new 'keep our kids safe' 'reasonable gun control' guidelines and judged a danger to themselves and others.

It'll get to that soon enough. Actually zoos are by their very nature evil and they should repatriate all of their inmates back to their natural environments will all deliberate speed.

I vacillate on that one. On the one hand keeping the animals in cages instead of the wild seems like a cruel prison. But on the other hand these animals don't have to search/hunt for food, get veterinary care, are often provided mates, are not hunted by predators (or people), and generally don't have to deal with the problems of the wild. Some of them seem to like their life, while others obviously hate it. I dunno. Take it on a case by case basis I suppose.

I'm actually not sure what I think about zoos. Sometimes those animals look bored and sad. And we're not even eating them, we're just gawking at them. OTOH it's potentially a good way to keep endangered species from going extinct. Who knows? At least I don't.
