Andrew MacLeod, former head of the United Nation's Emergency Coordination Center, says some 3,300 pedophiles employed by the U.N. have committed 60,000 cases of rape and sexual exploitation over the past decade.

The UN is ready to remedy this with a strongly worded resolution against itself.

I found this 2014 article from the Washington Post:

"Why won't the U.S. ratify the U.N.'s child rights treaty?...

"It's high time the U.S. takes steps towards joining the rest of the world and ratifying the Convention on the Rights of the Child. After all, today's healthy and well educated children are tomorrow's healthy and well-educated adults."

The Catholic church should step up and take up some of the slack.

    1. Eidde   7 years ago

Church authorities took a well-deserved shellacking in the courts and the media for letting priests get away with this stuff.

I presume, of course, that the UN may similarly look forward to massive lawsuits and media denunciation.

      1. colorblindkid   7 years ago

Also, children are still far more likely to be molested by teachers than priests, and those teachers are usually defended by their unions.

Shhh... We can't let facts get in the way of culturally approved hatred for Papists.

in an official statement on the UN website, Guterres asserted: "Let us declare in one voice: We will not tolerate anyone committing or condoning sexual exploitation and abuse. We will not let anyone cover up these crimes with the UN flag... Let us make zero tolerance a reality."

Guterres then sent an internal memo demanding to know who talked. "There is now a significant risk that we will lose this perk making recruitment more difficult."

"We can still laugh at parking tickets and drunk driving arrests, right?"

  5. sharmota4zeb   7 years ago

We will see how the court cases pan out. Considering that the UN workforce is a bit under 40,000 people, 3,300 child molesters is a large number.

    1. Illocust   7 years ago

The over a decade bit makes a larger number a bit more plausible, but that number gives me pause too. It seems like a number decided upon for shock value rather than truthfullness.

      1. Rat on a train   7 years ago

Maybe they used the MeToo definitions.

      2. Cyto   7 years ago

I had some of the same thoughts. So I asked google.... how many cases in the US each year?

The first result was a reason article questioning the utility of the sex offender registry. So you wonder where I get my skepticism....

Anyway, the second hit was this from NSOPW. They list about 63k reported cases for the US in 2012.

So that is a close match for the UN's decade-long work. So my back-of-the-envelope numbers show the UN is outproducing expectations by a few orders of magnitude.

But then I saw this stat further down in the article:

Research conducted by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) estimates that approximately 1 in 6 boys and 1 in 4 girls are sexually abused before the age of 18

And I realized that there just aren't any numbers out there that you can trust on this topic.

        1. Rhywun   7 years ago

          Or any topic, really.

As little as I like the UN, I wonder what definitions are being used. Do I believe that UN parasites are capable of scummy behavior. I would not be much surprised to discover than refugee women and girls (and boys too, though in some parts of the world that would be kinda risky) get coerced into sex-for-aid. But so much utter bullsh*t has been printed about 'harrassment' and 'rape' recently that I'm leery of joining in on the outrage binge.

    1. Jerryskids   7 years ago

Given that in the US college students are still considered children, I have to question what numbers and definitions they're using. Sure, engaging a 14-year old prostitute in a sex-for-food deal is pretty damn reprehensible behavior for an aid worker who's supposed to be there helping people so that they don't have to turn to prostitution to survive, but it's not like there aren't a lot of teen-age prostitutes in third-world countries. It's almost as if some of those countries are shitholes where your options are extremely limited and you gotta do what you gotta do to get by. This behavior by UN personnel maybe isn't making the situation any better - which is their stated mission - but lying and cheating and fucking people over is about par for the course for government work.

      1. Harvard   7 years ago

Yet, unlimited immigration from such "shit holes " will make America great. Go finger.

        1. Telcontar the Wanderer   7 years ago

Are you under the impression that it's the 14-year-old prostitute's fault that her country is a shithole?

  7. Conchfritters   7 years ago

"the National Crime Authority has been warning that predatory pedophiles' chosen methodology to gain access to children is to join a children's charity."

Sick fucks need to be put on a prison ship in the middle of the ocean run by guards and staff that are 65+ and older.

  8. Longtobefree   7 years ago

And yet the US remains a member, and allows this organization to exist within our borders.
How about we evict the UN, sell off the valuable NY real estate, and split the loot half to the feds, a quarter each to NY state and NY city?
I am sure the level of corruption and sex crime would be more happy in any of several EU cities,

    1. loveconstitution1789   7 years ago

I think NY is a corrupt place but I would agree that NY probably deserves that money having to put up with those UN fuckers BS for so long.

  9. loveconstitution1789   7 years ago

That is a lot of unacceptable behavior from an organization that is supposed to keep people from hurting one another.

It really is amazing how often former heads of things can no longer tolerate what they considered tolerable when their paycheck depended upon them keeping their mouth's shut.
