Lawyers for President Donald Trump have sent a cease-and-desist letter to former Trump adviser Steve Bannon...
UNFOLLOWED
Hello.
"French President Emmanuel Macron says his government will battle "fake news."
Go eat a bag of rotting grapes Macky you jerk off.
The Left is really pushing this movement to end free speech for all it's worth. I don't think it will end well for them.
Joke's on you, Rufus. Rotting grapes are a delicacy in France.
D'oh!
What a snowflake.
AM I RIGHT FELLAS
...paints a portrait of a President Trump who is increasingly repeating stories, cannot recognize old friends, and is viewed by his closest allies as 'incapable of functioning in his job.'
Reaganesque.
Indeed, it's scary. I wasn't alive during Reagan's presidency, but I learned in college it was a perilous time in which a right-wing extremist, possibly senile Commander in Chief nearly started a nuclear World War III. And as we all know, the Republican Party (unlike the Democrats) has become more extreme in recent decades, so a possibly senile President Drumpf is an even greater danger to the planet.
🙂
Cheeseburgers cause dementia, as do jelly beans. It is known.
Have you heard the reports that Drumpf drinks way too much Diet Coke? That can't be healthy either.
See, this is exactly the kind of stuff we mean when we talk about the media's flawed coverage of the 2016 election. Nobody questioned Drumpf's physical health all that much, but Hillary had to deal with endless sexist speculation about whether she could "handle" being President. And then she had that completely minor fainting spell at a 9/11 memorial, which the media blew way out of proportion.
How did that Reagan joke go? Something like, "I've outlawed the Soviet Union. The bombing begins in five minutes."
Indeed. We were lucky that the deep state was able to stop WW III after Reagan announced that we'd begin bombing in 5 minutes.
And lucky the aliens didn't invade after he launched Star Wars.
We were lucky that we were able to find two dudes bad enough to save the President!
Now let's go for a burger! HA! HA! HA! HA!
Greater than Oregonians pumping gas?
I read that as Orangutans pumping gas. Also scary.
You are overdoing it.
I legit don't know if you are nuts, ignorant, trolling, or trying to be funny.
Please advise.
French President Emmanuel Macron says his government will battle "fake news."
My grandkids will be saying if it wasn't for the French we'd all be typing Russian.
FTFY
Zut alors !
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe says North Korea poses the biggest threat since World War II.
Ix-nay on the ouble-u-ouble-u-way oo-tay talk.
That is some funny shit.
Yes, yes it is; but I hope Fist doesn't make a Korea out of it.
This sub-thread is so done it needs a ribbon, so here I go, Taiwan on.
Even taken racistly, I don't think I did that quite right.
I didn't try to parse the latin, I just appreciated the irony of Japan playing the WW2 card.
They view themselves as the victims of the war. And many seem to believe they were completely innocent. Doesn't surprise me.
Somewhere in one of Neal Stephenson's books, it is noted that (paraphrasing) almost overnight, 2 atomic bombs turned Japan into a nation of Pacifists.
I wish I could find it. It was very well done in the book.
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe says North Korea poses the biggest threat "since, well, us!"
RELEASE JET JAGUAR!
who is increasingly repeating stories, cannot recognize old friends, and is viewed by his closest allies as 'incapable of functioning in his job.'"
He really does represent me.
Don't forget all the time he spends each day insulting folks on the internet!
French President Emmanuel Macron says his government will battle "fake news."
I've seen a version of this gif before.
Macron: "Vichy France never existed; we were all in the Resistance."
In Macron's case it would be "Hey, I was an adult when we first had sex".
A magnitude 4.5 earthquake struck the San Francisco Bay Area early this morning.
Try not voting Trump next time, San Francisco.
"A magnitude 4.5 earthquake struck the San Francisco Bay Area"
Not much of a sanctuary city.
THE MOLE PEOPLE SEEK SANCTUARY TOO!
Lawyers for President Donald Trump have sent a cease-and-desist letter to former Trump adviser Steve Bannon over Bannon's "disparaging" comments about the president and his family.
There will be trouble if you continue to speak with reckless steve bannon
A massive snowstorm is expected to hit the northeastern U.S. today.
Oh. My. God.
Damn you, snow!
It can't be that bad. It doesn't have a name.
Its name is Aegon Targaryen.
The blind Aegon Targaryen that managed to die of natural causes in Game of Thrones? Yeah, don't mess with that fucker.
That was Aemon. Aegon the Unlikely was his little brother.
THAT'S NOT WHO I'M TALKING ABOUT EITHER. Keep up.
It's named Grayson. They all have names now.
"Grayson"? We truly are post-racial!
Still not inclusive enough; "Gayson" would be more 2018.
What a Dick.
Holy snowstorm Batman!
"Grayson" is a name.
Must be comic fans if it was a real storm it would be Zod
the news in ever greater attempts to make the weather appear worse in order to promote the climate change meme is calling the storm a bomb cyclone, and they think Trump's comments are outlandish
Even Weather Underground - who I thought might know better - inserted some throwaway line about "climate getting warmer" in a long story about this storm yesterday. It didn't even make sense in context. Almost as if they were contractually obligated to shoehorn it in there somewhere.
'Things are getting so hot, we'll all freeze to death!'
Oh, I remember now. Something about it being more "rare" to see record low temperatures due to the "climate getting warmer". Yeah, cite f-----g needed.
"The president is a great man," said Bannon, in response to a caller's question about the extraordinary rift that developed Wednesday between the two men. "You know I support him day in and day out."
This is confusing.
More importantly: boring
If "boring" leads to President Hillary, who cares!1!
So. Any chance there's some truth to Bannon and Trump in cahoots over this?
And isn't Wolff and untrustworthy lefty liar? I thought I read this about him a couple of years back. My memory is foggy.
Can you recognize close friends? Do you repeat yourself?
Not always. Always.
You may ask yourself....
"Will Rufus run for President?"
"President Trump who is increasingly repeating stories"
You mean like 99% of the blowhards I've ever known?
Since everyone does it, it's okay!
Or someone accidentally ran across the 25th Amendment, dusted it off, and read it.
Re: Sevo,
Not only the wall, Sevo. You understand NOTHING.
What about Trump's stupid views on trade? His horrid foreign policy based on dick-sizing? His casual attitude towards avowed racists and white supremacists? His terrible pick for a DOJ head, an anti-drug warrior who loves asset forfeiture? The restrictions he proposes on legal immigration (a proposal based on lies and myths) which completely ignore Market demand, something that will only exacerbate undocumented immigration?
Libertarian moment!
It's disgusting the way some of the Republicans carry water for this turd down here.
John's not here, man.
"Reasoning will never make a Man correct an ill Opinion, which by Reasoning he never acquired" - Jonathan Swift
Words to keep in mind, OM.
Old, when those thoughts are proposed and enacted, then we will have cause for concern. For the moment, they are just musings of a narcissistic braggart. Sessions is a disaster, but Trump has purged many of the lesser lights that hung onto him. His immigration policies appear to be reducing illegal immigration, contrary to your concerns.
Re: BigT,
Remember when this country used to have another narcissistic braggart in the office? That was just the last TWO TERM.
I think the last time someone was in office that didn't fit that bill to a T would be sometime around 1923. And he was probably a dick in private, I'm sure.
What is this post for? It looks like a reply, but there's no original post in this thread.
? Wait? did you cut and paste a post from another thread just to snipe at somebody?
Yeah. So? Wanna make something out if it, huh?
Yeah, it's fucking pathetic.
I called him on his TDS last night, so he decided to double down.
Well, you clearly touched a nerve.
Jeeze, OM's in full TDS!
"What about Trump's stupid views on trade?"
Which has affected nothing
"His horrid foreign policy based on dick-sizing?"
Those voices in your head aren't real.
"His casual attitude towards avowed racists and white supremacists?"
You mean like when he pointed out that the riot was bi-lateral?
"His terrible pick for a DOJ head, an anti-drug warrior who loves asset forfeiture?"
One bad. DeVos. Gorsuch. Pai. # out of four ain't bad.
"The restrictions he proposes on legal immigration (a proposal based on lies and myths) which completely ignore Market demand, something that will only exacerbate undocumented immigration?"
The restrictions which haven't been enforced?
OK, I thought I was dealing with a rational person here.
I get it: "HE WARES TIGHT WRIST WATCH BANDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Re: Sevo,
Are you INSANE????
Trump's war on aluminum foil... from Chay-na
Trump doesn't like Canuck airplanes... At least, he doesn't like what his crony friends tell him not to like.
No, it was when he alluded to good racists among the bad racists among the group of white supremacist - TWICE!!!!!!!!!! ON TEE-VEE for fuck's sake!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: Sevo,
They only haven't been enforced because either the courts haven't let him or because he likes to toy with people's lives (i.e. using the DACA individuals as hostages for his [and Tom Cotton's] devious plans).
I''l give you DeVos and Gorsuch. He can go home now.
By the way, Sessions just announced that he's going to poop over the 10th Amendment of the Constitution because... well, because he can.
Oh well, an allusion. Ok then.
"TEE-VEE"
Lol.
Sounds awesome, doesn't i?
OM doesn't believe in nations, so it's not that surprising that they don't believe in borders either. Of course, it's simple coincidence that the only nation on Earth that shouldn't have them is...America.
Re: BYODB,
That's one way to spin it. I said I don't believe in States. You seem to keep conflating the two things.
There's also Antartica. No borders. Penguins can travel anywhere they want.
Statist asshole.
That's one way to spin it. I said I don't believe in States. You seem to keep conflating the two things.
So you don't believe in states, which are generally internal borders that are far more open than most, if not all, types of borders yet you believe in nations which generally do not have open borders. Hmm...is this a mask slip where you reveal that you're in favor of one world government? Or maybe you think you're against it while advocating for it accidentally. That seems more your speed.
There's also Antartica. No borders. Penguins can travel anywhere they want.
...so you reveal that you don't understand the difference between a continent and a country. Well, in your defense they do start with the same letter. Easy mistake to make?
For the record, people don't generally want to claim land that isn't actually land and doesn't actually have anything on it. It's that whole value theory thing.
See, this is what we mean when we say you're unhinged, OM.
This never happened.
This is a description of the spin that was used to describe Trump saying that there were good people at the protest AS WELL AS BAD PEOPLE.
He never said anything about there being "good racists" at the protests.
Meryl Streep Says Dustin Hoffman Slap In 'Kramer Vs. Kramer' Was "Overstepping"
But not the kissing?
She's just been waiting for the right time to mention it.
I guess Meryl is out of the next Jackie Chan buddy cop movie.
That sounds a lot like Weinstein's vow, when caught, to put all his efforts into taking down the NRA. Appeal to progressive pet causes if you want to misdirect.
I wish Streep had (quietly) retired around the Kramer/Deer Hunter years. It would be nice to look fondly upon her.
I'm going to say it, "The Deer Hunter" was overrated.
Absolutely. Such a long boring movie.
Glad to hear I am not the only one thinking the same thing! I HATED that movie for being overlong and pretentious. Whoever wants to see a raw and crude war movie about Vietnam should check out Hamburger Hill.
"This Meryl Streep character thinks my wife doesn't talk enough. Talk about fake news. Sad!"
I want to hear all about how the p...y-grabber-in-chief dated his own daughter. Give us details! [starts rubbing fingers together...]
You always struck me as a pedo.
You're making too many assumptions, bro. She was a fully-grown woman when the p...y-grabber-in-chief said he would date his own daughter.
"She was a fully-grown woman when the p...y-grabber-in-chief said he would date his own daughter."
Lolwut?
What the fuck does that have to do with anything pedo?
I'm answering your innuendo. What are YOU talking about?
Are you taking your meds, Billi?
Context is king OM.
For some reason, OM's posts conjure up the album cover of Aqualung.
Streep's best role was in "The Giver", she didn't have to pretend she was someone else in that one.
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe says North Korea poses the biggest threat since World War II.
"And we know because we help start that War!!"
Shinzo dreams of Kim Chee.
"North Korea's situation can be an unfortunate situation like the Pacific War, which was another unfortunate situation..."
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe says North Korea poses the biggest threat since World War II.
"And we know because we help start that War!!"
Bomb da hahbah.
Pearl of wisdom.
Let it be known that they harbor no hard feelings towards the Koreans.
Korean women will find this comforting.
Interesting rabble rousing on a tech forum yesterday. It started with the recent tech exploit revelations. Some statist wanted the government to regulate these things, of course not being very explicit on how they would actually do anything.
I despise people who insert politics into tech forums, so naturally I responded that adding government into the mix is the worst possible response. That started a couple of statists sneering at free markets and competition. What was funny was their ignorance of their own position: when I pointed out that all their examples were the direct result of collusion between government and cronies and well-known as regulatory capture, they just doubled down on wanting more regulation. When they complained about monopolies, I said a single government regulator was the worst monopoly. When they said government regulators were pure and noble (paraphrasing!), I said they should look up James Buchanan and public choice theory, which they utterly ignored.
I'm sure everyone else on the forum was disgusted at the off-topic flames, but baiting statists is always easy and sometimes fun, and bystanders may learn something. It was interesting how narrow-minded and closed-minded they were, but I did get the feeling that if I had kept it up for a few more days, they would have eventually run out of room to hide and resorted to name calling; one came close this morning. That's when you know you have the better part of it.
Sounds like a giant waste of time.
I know. This is a much better use of your time.
Don't get salty.
Re: Scarecrow Repair & Chippering,
I'm one of many moderators for the Facebook page of the recently founded Libertarian Party of Mexico (which is embryonic to say the most) and I can tell you that we receive comments from the same type of idiots you encountered, saying the exact same crap. Their minds operate on the illusion that government institutions, presumably, are not motivated by profit and so they have a higher moral ground from which to regulate greedy companies and corporations. The other moderators and I use the same arguments you used. There is no difference between your leftist idiot compatriots and ours, which is why I laugh at the notion that immigrants are changing the cultural landscape. I can just as well argue that it has been European whites who keep changing OUR cultural landscape by spoon-feeding us leftist claptrap via Harvard and Princeton (from whence out technocrats came).
I would whole-heartedly like to see fewer beheadings of public officials by the cartels down there, for sure.
Re: BYODB,
I would whole-heartedly like to see Evangelical blasphemers and heretics stop trying to create Paradise-On-Earth by using the State to make everybody virtuous at the point of a gun, i.e. stop all Prohibitions.
I think you might be confused given that modern statists are almost entirely atheist. My all means, though, continue to bash the minority of religious right folks instead of the majority of atheists that want to raise the government to the level of godhood. I'm sure addressing only one side of that coin will have no downsides.
But are their more soccer references (versus our "moving the goalposts" and the like)?
There oughta be a law against unforeseen exploits. That should fix it.
I just bought a new computer in November, and Intel was apparently made aware of these problems in June. So they apparently sold me a processor they knew was defective without disclosing that.
But yes, let's not have the government involved, poor saintly corporations can't bear to be punished for fraud.
If they did what you claim, return it. Or sue them. A government agency to deal with a minor consumer issue is a bit of an overreaction.
Defrauding millions of customers is more than a "minor consumer issue".
How is that your problem? That sounds like a million individual yous too god damned stupid to act like adults.
No, here is what is really happening. YOU didn't do your due diligence. YOU Then had some uncomfortable choices, and YOU want THEM punished.
You don't want to be made whole. You want a pound of flesh.
And here we have the weirdest species of "libertarian", the pro-fraud libertarian. Did a chef mix fiberglass into your hamburger? Well that's totally your fault for not sending every bite you eat to an independent lab for testing before you stick it in your mouth.
"the pro-fraud libertarian"
Well, tell that guy I told you to sue, but you couldn't read it.
"Well that's totally your fault for not sending every bite you eat to an independent lab for testing before you stick it in your mouth."
Well there's your problem, stop eating your computer.
I love people who think class action lawsuits are the only way to teach corporations a lesson. Here's an alternative: victim prosecution, of course, plus loser pays, and that means all costs -- court costs, your prosecution costs, time lost away from work, collection costs, etc. Everything you had to spend to win and collect.
The first thing that happens is plenty of people sue over shit like this, because not only do they know they'll recover all their costs, so do attorneys who will take the cases on spec.
The second thing that happens is Big Corporation is scared to death of all those penny ante lawsuits costing a fortune. They will beg people to submit claims as cheaply as possible, and they will think the days of class action lawsuits and government regulation were the good old days.
I think after the first person loses one of those cases and needs to pay the court costs for a major corporation of a million plus bucks that the disincentive for anyone to actually do that would kick in pretty hard.
I don't think that would happen. More likely is that hungry law firms will bankroll the first few cases, and if they can't get a win, they write it off. But if they win, that gives them the reputation, and they will get a whole lot more cases until Big Corporation makes claims as easy as pie.
This is only for cases which seem likely to win. Long shots will not attract established law firms. They may attract new lawyers eager to make a name for themselves, but only if the upfront expense isn't great.
As if a million voices cried out in terror, and were suddenly silenced.
Sounds like the basis for a class action lawsuit.
If govt regulators sat in on every Intel meeting, they still would have let the discovery remain hidden for months while they work out a fix.
Sue 'em. A class action lawsuit is almost guaranteed.
Several months back some friends were complaining about Cox Communications putting in home internet data caps, saying stuff like "thanks free market"
I pointed out that home internet is not a very free market at all, thanks to local government. They completely missed the point and wanted moar regulation.
You can't debate people who aren't even wrong.
Lawyers for President Donald Trump have sent a cease-and-desist letter to former Trump adviser Steve Bannon over Bannon's "disparaging" comments about the president and his family.
I believe the term of art is "bumptious threat". Any decent lawyer would advise his client that spurious bluster is not a good tactic, especially against somebody intimately familiar with loud-mouthed fatheads, but we're talking about Trump and Trump's lawyers.
BWAHAHAHA!
So Trump's dingbat lawyers also sent a C+D to the publisher - apparently being unfamiliar with prior restraint and freedom of the press. Lawyers really will do anything for a buck, won't they?
Especially lawyers with handlebar mustaches...
a 4.5 quake in SF doesn't even register with Californians anymore
The Russian judges gave it a 1.8
#MEGA
A few (non-native) Californians I know chatted briefly about it on facebook. As a native Californian, I was mystified about why it is even being discussed.
Looks like the Intel, AMD et al are in for some serious trouble if you haven't been watching
The fixes for Intel's "Meltdown" exploit are expected to cause a reduction in processor speeds between 5% and 30%. The issues with Spectre likely can't really be fixed outside of completely new production designs. Unlike Meltdown, Spectre affects pretty much all processors, not just Intel. The companies have known about these issues for several months, but have kept quiet presumably while working on fixes for them.
And in related news... Intel CEO Krzanich exercised and immediately sold $11,000,000 in stock options back in November...
Gah! SF'd the first link.
Here.
Interesting story. It makes a lot of sense that they were waiting on announcing that problem given that it appears to be the holy grail of exploits.
President Trump shuts down another useless federal commission that wasted taxpayer money. MAGA!
Oh, but to be replaced by a separate waste of taxpayer money. Sad!
A massive snowstorm is expected to hit the northeastern U.S. today.
GLOBAL CLIMATE CHANGE THEORIES ARE HEREBY DEBUNKED!!!
Chill, bro.
You can at least concede we could use some of that "Global Warming" every fraudster East Anglia scientist has been banking on talking about for a couple of decades, won't you?
You do get that "global" is not the same as "the East Coast of the US," right?
Some glaciers have lost 50% of their mass in the last 30 years.
And some have gotten bigger. Yawn.
You seem like you know what the fuck you're talking about, as opposed to the global collection of experts on the subject who are just in it for the cash or nookie or whatever.
Am I wrong though?
"Oct 30, 2015 ? A new NASA study says that Antarctica is overall accumulating ice. ... A new NASA study says that an increase in Antarctic snow accumulation that began 10,000 years ago is currently adding enough ice to the continent to outweigh the increased losses from its thinning glaciers."
NASA is run by partisan asshole who know nothing about science.
Why don't you reread that paragraph and think about it for a minute.
No, no, that's not Macron's "To Do" list! Come on! They're separate news, people! Those things are NOT fake news!
Big deal! *I* don't recognize old friends, many times! Or at least, I pretend not to recognize them... Especially when they try to convince me to join a multilevel marketing scheme...
"Who are you, again?"
That's always awkward. And they never let up. Good friend = easy mark. Sad.
Who wants to legalize meth?
Great thread. Ignorance and idiocy abounds. Alex Nowrasteh is NOT a complete asshole. Kudos to "college-kid" Bennet Tomlin.
Re: SIV,
Who the fuck said he was?
Good reason to ban alcohol too.
Turning the executive branch into a bad soap opera full of endless bitch fights is certainly a novel way to do limited government.
I've seen the future, and it's hilariously entertaining!
Better "bitch fights" than having government socializing medicine, adding more fascistic regulations on banks and industry, and curtailing more constitutional rights.
Say Obama was better on weed and criminal justice or else you're a partisan asshole.
Well, at least Obama said he was better on those things. I think we can agree there.
Most "Libertarian" President Ever.
Why do you hate contracts?
Bannon signed a non-disclosure agreement. He's free to break it but not immune to the liability for doing so.
Bannon wasn't an employee of Donald Trump while he worked in the WH. He was ours! Weren't we lucky.
I hate Trump thinking he can punish people for "lese majeste". If Bannon signed an NDA, then sue Bannon. But neither Wolfe nor the publisher signed and NDA, so fuck Trump's Napolean complex.
You don't have any idea what anyone aigned.
Trump doesn't have any idea what day of the week it is.
Damn dude, you had to go deep into your TDS for that one.
It's hardly possible to have TDS considering Trump actually is a senile, racist incompetent who is, according to his own friends, "semi-literate."
"It's hardly possible to have TDS "
?
" considering Trump actually is a senile, racist incompetent who is, according to his own friends, "semi-literate.""
The prosecution rests.
is a senile, racist incompetent who is, according to his own friends, "semi-literate."
But enough about you.
Sessions is launching a crackdown on legalized pot:
Sessions is rescinding Obama-era directive for feds to back off marijuana enforcement in states with legal pot
No. He's rescinding another DoJ guidance letter.
It had to happen, the discontinuity needs to be addressed, and that was, never going to happen with the DACA like can kicking Obama did.
Remember when Dipshit Dave Weigel used to constantly love talking up the market performance in Obama's last year or so in office?
Weird how he never does that anymore here for some odd reason.
Because Weigel doesn't post here? And hasn't for a long time?
In particular, he's not Shrike.
