Manafort Indicted for Hiding Financial Ties to Ukraine
This is not about Donald Trump, Russia, or the 2016 election.

Paul Manafort, the former chairman of President Donald Trump's campaign, was the first to be indicted by Justice Department special prosecutor Robert Mueller. He surrendered to authorities this morning.
But before everybody goes crazy on social media thinking that this is the beginning of the end of the Trump administration and either celebrating or condemning, the charges against Manafort have no clear relationship or connection to any alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 elections.
Manafort, along with a former business associate named Rick Gates, have been indicted for conspiracy to launder money, serving as an unregistered agent of a foreign official, and several counts of false statements and failure to file appropriate bank reports.
He's also charged with "conspiracy against the United States," which is going to draw a lot of attention (CNN tossed it right into the headline), but to be very clear here, this charge has absolutely nothing to do with allegations of a relationship between the Trump campaign and Russia. Instead, this is about Manafort's relationship and lobbying on behalf of Ukraine's government and his alleged failure to adequately report the relationship and account for the money he received. This in not about committing anything resembling treason.
In short, Manafort is accused of taking money to lobby for Ukraine and laundering it through other countries and businesses so that they he wouldn't have to publicly account for it and pay taxes on it.
From the indictment itself:

The full indictment may be read here, and the accusations are surprisingly easy to understand given the complexity of the case.
Be very wary of any reporting suggesting this is going to have any connection to Trump or that this proves some sort of collusion with Russia. This indictment is not about Russia. And, honestly, since it doesn't implicate Trump in any way, don't be surprised if the president tosses Manafort directly under the Justice Department's steamroller.
UPDATE: Ken "Popehat" White explains the meaning of the various charges and the indictment itself here.
UPDATE: Trump tweets his reactions:
Sorry, but this is years ago, before Paul Manafort was part of the Trump campaign. But why aren't Crooked Hillary & the Dems the focus?????

So John Podesta will be next for the same. right?
I think you mean Tony Podesta you brainless partisan fucknut.
Come on Tony, tell us how some guy working for Ukraine years before he ever knew Trump is proof of treason!!
Tony is just mad because he was so excited this morning about someone Trump knew was indicted. Then the media was obligated to state that these conspiracy to commit tax fraud events happened before 2016 therefore they have zero to do with Trump.
It is interesting how these charges stem from Obama's term in office and his dealings with Russia and Ukraine about the Crimea.
If anything this is especially damning for Trump. Mueller is tasked with investigating Russian collusion. What do Manafort's nearly statute limited tax problems have to do with that? Think real hard.
If anything this is especially damning for Trump.
Wishful thinking?
What do Manafort's nearly statute limited tax problems have to do with that?
Tax evaders are unpatriotic?
He's being charged with crimes that people don't get charged with. It's obviously leverage.
People don't get charged with tax evasion?
He's thinking as a Progressive. They have a long history of getting away with that,
Haha. I snarfed on that comment.
I don't see any reason this is connected to Trump. All the activity on which this was based, occurred 2014 or earlier when Manafort was representing the Ukranian president (who by the way, is exiled and hiding in Russia while being sought for treason against the Ukraine, and who wanted closer ties to Putin rather than the EU). And while this activity was occurring, Manafort was hanging out at the Podesta Group HQ, allegedly helping facilitate Putin's purchase of US uranium (which is what Hillary wanted) while the FBI was keeping quiet, an investigation into Russian payoffs and other crimes in the US, and where the guy who alerted the FBI, and became an informant, about the Russian activity was threatened by the Obama administration for talking to anyone about it.
Seems like it's boomeranging back to Hillary again in my opinion. After all, she and Obama are the ones who were talking to Russians, and facilitating the sale of US uranium to Russians. You do remember Obama promising the Russian Prime Minister (on a hot microphone unknown to Obama) he'd "have more flexibility after the [2012] election". Obama wants to be flexible to Russians, yet accuses Trump of colluding with them. Seems to me the colluders are Hillary and Obama, likely because (as Obama and Hillary told us) Putin's hackers got her emails and used them to blackmail Obama and Clinton. Which they of course, covered up.
zero uranium left the united states. it is illegal to export uranium. who told you this? your stepdad?
the constitution was written in 1787, and 11 states had ratified by 1788. did you learn about the connection of the constitution to 1789 in fratboy constitution scholar school?
Why don't you tell me why you're still defending that lunatic man-baby at all?
Tony, Obama is gone and supposedly serving on a jury, so you don't have to worry about that lunatic man-baby anymore.
I require retorts to be at least somewhat clever, even on a Monday.
I only respond with clever retorts when the slam is clever.
We all know that you will use any bad language to describe Trump. You are scared of Trump and the reduction of government he represents and has accomplished. You foam at the mouth every time his name is mentioned. Its why you never really articulate what Trump has done badly because you just want the the threat to your lefty agenda gone.
You require?!? Typical statist, thinks like Pharaoh: "So let it be written, so let it be done."
Fuck off, slaver.
John was a co-founder of the Podesta Group. I don't know what his current status is in relation to the company but it's not outlandish to think that his brother can still call him on the phone.
It's also far from outlandish that 90% of the residents of the reason comments board are licking Republican nutsack and don't even realize how fucking ridiculous they look while doing so.
Hey now, Tony, my comments are not 10% of the total, are they?
Could I hate them more?
God they leave me so butthurt!
"I hate everyone there, and they all think I'm an idiot, but I CAN'T STAY AWAY!!! WHY OH WHY MUST I ENDURE SUCH TORMENT!!!" -Tony
Tony, how does 100% of HIllary's nutsack taste?
Presidential.
LOL
I guess Bill really does still sleep with her.
I hate to side with Tony, but he really does have a point there. Carpet-biting mystical conservative infiltrators WAY outnumber serpentine socialist sockpuppets at a site catering to neither. It's almost at if Gods Own Prohibitionists were afraid of getting replaced by the LP the way they replaced tariff-and-spend Whigs back when Red Republicans really were Red.
Hank P: Typical of lefties to see anyone dissenting from the lefty narrative to be Republican supporters.
You can have Libertarians defend Trump's actions to roll back government and the silliness of the media. You cannot really have Libertarians defend lefties unless they are discussing drug decriminalization or the freedom to buttsex whomever.
Well I think there's one thing we can all agree on, Trump is a big poopyhead. This wonderful shared revelation has really brought us closer together as a nation. God Bless America!
You know that seeing things for what they are (or most likely will be) doesn't equal being a Republican bootlicker, right?
No, I'm sure you can't understand that, what with Obama's cock in one hand and Hillary's in the other.
Don't you mean Fast and Furious gay Muslim Obama and Benghazi Murderer Hillary?
Just in time to deflect attention from Hollywood and Uranium One.
Timing is half the battle!
Conspiracy against the United States! I knew it! I knew that it was Trump in the voting booth with the Diebold voting machine and the leet Rushin' haxxor year in election 2016!
As God as my witness, I know that, before this is all over, Trump will be judged guilty and impeached for his treason and his evilness! Shame! Shame! Shame!
I am so pissed off right now I can't stop pooping!
Word.
The conspiracy against the US, was to avoid paying taxes - same crime they got Al Capone on. But it sounds important.
The conspiracy against the US, was to avoid paying taxes - same crime they got Al Capone on. But it sounds important.
So it is a made up administrative, failure to file the proper forms, charge against a guy no longer associated with Trump and who is just as connected to the Democrats. Manafort's defense should be there was no Criminal Intent. And that no reasonable prosecutor would bring these charges.
Well that's the problem, a special prosecutor who's entire job was created based on a series of politically driven lies is not going to be reasonable.
That and Grand Juries are willing to indict ham sandwiches.
I'm sooo glad that all media is happy to give this guy the chair based on an indictment...that whole innocent until proven guilty must be sooo inconvenient right now...
Manafort will claim any evidence that was obtained as a result of the Fusion GPS/Steele dossier to obtain warrants, was illegally obtained and is inadmissable. And he's right if it was presented as independent research, that wasn't paid for by Obama and Clinton, as their lawyer falsely (and fraudulently) claimed.
Still, he's guilty of tax evasion, and is about a loyal to a political party as a cat.
Wasn't Manafort working with Ukraine specifically on behalf of the democrats at the time in question?
No.
I'd argue this should be quashed under the "poison tree". His ENTIRE investigation is based on a dossier paid for by the DNC and Clinton campaign (that they thoroughly lied about the funding) and illegal leaks from Comey. There is, literally, zero actual evidence of anything.
In fact, Mueller himself illegally leaked the plans for an indictment this weekend.
Given that the investigation started illegally, no prosecution should follow either. Police cannot enter your house illegally and use what they found in court against you.
Same thing here.
Surely you don't mean to imply that everyone involved on all sides is assholes!
My side is pure as the wind driven snow, dammit!
Snow where the Huskies go?
His ENTIRE investigation is based on a dossier paid for by the DNC and Clinton campaign (that they thoroughly lied about the funding) and illegal leaks from Comey.
I'm not even sure you'd have a point if any of this were true, but it's worth pointing out that it isn't.
The investigation is not entirely based on the dossier, but if it were, that would not make it an illegal investigation, as there is literally nothing illegal about the dossier.
I have no idea where you're getting the idea that it's based on leaks from Comey.
I'm trying to envision the scenario here.
TRUMP: OK, Manafort, I need to steal the election from Hillary. Get in touch with Putin and make it happeh.
MANAFORT: I'm on it.
[later]
MANAFORT: All right, I've been doing some super-secret lobbying on behalf of Ukraine.
TRUMP: You moron, Ukraine is at WAR with Russia! How will this help Putin steal the American election?
MANAFORT: Oh, you you mean Putin is President of RUSSIA?
TRUMP: Are you Gary Johnson's dumber brother? Get out of here!
Of course, Manafort was doing the super-secret lobbying on behalf of the Russian-puppet Ukrainian president, Viktor F. Yanukovych, not the elements of Ukraine that were opposing Russia.
But the article says Ukraine.
Oh, I see, he's accused of lobbying for Yanukovych even after Yanukovych fell from power. So by that time he was lobbying for a Ukrainian *faction*, not Ukraine itself, if the indictment is true.
Reporters need to be clearer, or else I may stop relying on their summaries.
Why would you ever rely on their summaries?
It's been known that Manafort worked for a pro-Russia party in Ukraine since the summer before the election, though--that's why he was let go from the campaign. (Not because he did it, but because it became public and it looked bad.)
My understanding is that Manafort advised him in his presidential campaign in 2010 and then after he won election until he fled (to Russia) in 2014 during revolution. Not sure if there's an allegation he kept working for him after 2014. All of the payments seems center in the 2010-2014 time period.
OK, so (if true) this *was* a pro-Russian conspiracy, after all. Are the U. S. elections involved?
Of course it has everything to do with Trump. Mueller is going to use the indictment to try to get Manafort and/or Gates to flip. If the Russia story didn't exist, the investigation of Manafort probably wouldn't have happened and, even if it did, prosecutors wouldn't have invested nearly this level of resources in going after it. This tactic may not work, particularly because it's very likely they don't have anything to say. But to say that this has nothing to do with Trump seems like willful ignorance of the way federal prosecutors work these sorts of cases.
If the Russia story didn't exist, the investigation of Manafort probably wouldn't have happened and, even if it did, prosecutors wouldn't have invested nearly this level of resources in going after it.
So if the accused wasn't guilty, the police would have never investigated them. Top thinking there Adam
What are you talking about? I never said anything remotely like that. Work on your reading skills.
If the Russia story is bullshit, then how is this about Trump?
Because the prosecutors are trying to use Manafort to prove the Russia story. I don't know if the Russia story is bull, although I suspect it is. But what I think (or you think) hardly matters: the prosecutors are attempting to build a case by pressuring people with indictments. That's a well-worn tactic.
I think it more likely that they are groping for any reason to justify their continued employment.
If the prosecutors had any evidence (or even an inking) that Manafort was involved in a collusion, they wouldn't have to charge him something unrelated to the Russian probe for the sake of leverage. Grand juries can indict a ham sandwich, but they apparently didn't indict Don Jr, who actually did meet with a Russian lawyer.
In a way, this has a lot to do with Trump. But the connection between Trump and collusion isn't there -yet.
So if the accused wasn't guilty, the police would have never investigated him?
If I understand Mr. Adam330 correctly, this is about whom the prosecution is targeting and why. Guilt is secondary in such situations, if there's guilt at all.
Except for ethical prosecutors like present company.
And investigating a suicide eventually led to a strained dress.
And, ultimately, a failed bid to remove Clinton from office. Hooray, we're back to the early nineties?
Where's my techbubble? I need to make some quick cash.
Invest in the startups soon to be know as Google, Facebook, and fairly new Amazon.
You will thank me for it future Dwight.
If there was actual collusion here and it involved Manafort, that weaselly little shit would have flipped at the start.
Perhaps. But also possible that he just hasn't gotten the deal he wants yet.
In all of the furrer over Russia, no one has bothered to ask the question of just who is on the payroll of Russia's enemies. I think it is highly likely that a lot of the people in the media and government who were going crazy during the election about Trump not being sufficiently anti-Russia were on the payroll of countries like Ukraine.
Not to mention everyone on the payroll of the United States, also an adversary of Russia. Except the president and several of his close advisers, perhaps.
That feel when you try to sound clever but come off as just butthurt.
If I were like one of you I would be unable to maintain any muscle control at the glee of one of the big fishes being caught, representing obvious proof that President Hillary is as corrupt as you've been saying all along.
Not even the president being an obviously corrupt, raping, mentally ill sack of moronic shit prevents you from licking that (R) testicle.
One day, you'll eventually figure out how to climb out of Hillary's cunt.
I believe in you.
Big Fishes he says!
Ha!
You mean the biggest fish of them all- Hillary? The head snuke.
She has admitted publicly that she mishandled classified information.
When Trump, Manafort, or anyone else that is a non-lefty admits to committing a crime, let me know.
Ukraine is broke and scared to death that Russia is trying to annex them.
Anyone currently advocating for Ukraine is doing so because what Russia is doing is wrong and needs to be challenged and/or on the payroll of rich non-Ukrainians.
According to the indictment Manfort was working for the Ukraine. Manfort was Trump's campaign manager for three months before Trump fired him. Well, now we know why Trump fired him. He found out Manfort was really an agent of one of Putin's enemies.
/The new hot Journolist talking point by the end of the week
"the" Ukraine? It dropped the "the" when it became independent.
It did.
They weren't allowed nuclear weapons, but they got to lose the definite article.
Interesting we still say "The Phillipines".
and the French say "La France"
Las islas filipinas, and 'murricanos drop the islas. In the 1920s and 30s, when ALL islands, Virgin, Puerto Rico, Samoa... wanted independence from God's Own Prohibitionist States, headlines simply used PI.
It never had the "the" in the first place. It's just something English speakers do for some reason (probably Frenchists too, they love putting articles in front of everything).
The hell you say!
We probably used it because they said it that way. I have heard Russians with limited English proficiency say The Russia. When your language lack articles you often use them incorrectly in languages that do.
My wife makes similar errors with gendered pronouns since her native language doesn't have them.
No, he was an agent of Putin. The Ukrainian party he worked for was pro-Putin.
Eric Boehm is going to do a separate blog post about the Papadopoulos guilty plea since that it is connected to the Russia investigation. Want to keep these cases separate to do our best to avoid confusion.
Aaaaaand this is why Reason is a 1000X more reputable and trustworthy on nearly every news story than basically anywhere else. It is infuriating watching every other media outlet be deliberately dishonest and stupid.
TreasonNN is not reputable!!!!!
You got that right.
+1
Open your eyes and start asking questions. Ukraine is Russia. There's a war between Ukraine and Russian backed separatists. Russia outright invaded, seized, stole Ukrainian territory in Crimea. Russia prefered the soft power bribery and lobbying approach to control Ukraine from within but when that approach failed Russia invaded! Manafort is part of that Russian backed solf power play in Ukraine that failed. And Trump puts Manafort on the payroll and behold Russia cyber attacks the US in an unprecedented fashion.
Nothing about it was "unprecedented". They've been doing this shit for years. Nobody would have even cared about this shit if Hillary won. Don't get me wrong, I would be okay seeing everybody right up to Trump being thrown in prison, but the hysteria surrounding this is completely ridiculous. If there was collusion, Putin sure the hell isn't getting anything from it, since Trump's administration has been more aggressive against Russia than Obama's was. Trump is an idiot who refuses to criticize Russia, which is indeed a problem, but the people he has appointed have been more confrontational with Russia than Obama, who ignored everything they did for 7 1/2 years.
The unprecedented part was the hacking of the DNC and Clinton emails and dramatic 11th hour release. I don't recall that ever happening before.
Putin almost got away with it. Trump tried to help Putin. Trump was forced to sign the new sanctions law and keep the old sanctions. But, look it up, the Trump administration has still not enforced the new sanctions.
Emails are hacked frequently. Hell, WaPo had readers HELP them sort through Sarah Palin's hacked emails in 2008. There was nothing "unprecedented" about the DNC having abysmal security.
It also wasn't leaked by Russia. But don't let things stop you now.
And?
Obama gave up all of Iran's sanctions for literally nothing.
Hard to justify sanctioning anybody if we don't sanction Iran.
Falling for a bullshit phishing scam cause you're old as fuck and filled with so much hubris you think you can get away with anything IS pretty unprecedented.
If there was collusion, Putin sure the hell isn't getting anything from it, since Trump's administration has been more aggressive against Russia than Obama's was.
Examples, please?
Well, for starters, the fracking-led drop in oil prices has hurt Russia's economy rather badly.
If that's the best example you can think of, then you have no examples. Fracking has nothing to do with our stance on Russia?if this administration is more pro-fracking then the last, it's because more fracking has been a Republican priority since at least 2012. It is not being done to hurt Russia, even if that is a side effect.
Attempting to spin that as an example of Trump being harsher on Russia is ridiculous.
Well it's no Reset Button, I'll grant you that. But I think we've moved past the 80's Cold War finally.
Russia outright invaded, seized, stole Ukrainian territory in Crimea.
After the Crimeans, who are overwhelmingly ethnic and lingual Russians, voted to return to Russia, where they had been for nearly all of the last several centuries.
They voted to return to Russia after the US CIA helped overthrow the Ukrainian government and replace it with neo-nazis and their buddies who were more sufficiently anti-Russia, and pro-US-sockpuppetry.
Thank you for sharing Putin's propoganda.
Bro, don't use words you can't spell.
My spelling sucks but my phone literally autocorrects to past spelling errors.
Anyway that's how the word is pronounced in hick. I plead the hick defense.
"pronounced"
Do hicks think spelling is pronunciation too? That would make them extra stupid.
Shriek, why are you pretending we don't know this is you?
You mean after the Russian stole it from the Ottoman Empire?
You mean after Stalin killed millions of Ukrainians and resettled loyal white Russians in the Crimea?
You mean after the USSR agreed that the Crimea was part of the Ukraine Soviet Socialist Republic?
You mean after the fall of the USSR and the Crimea, except for the naval base at Sevatapol, was voted as part of the free nation of Ukraine?
As a Russian speaker and having visited both Russia and Ukraine, Ukrainians hate Russians. Did you know that Ukrainians speak Ukrainian not Russian? They are similar languages but there is a real dislike of everything Russian, since the Ukrainians have been treated so badly by Russians for a century.
Russia has a fundamental policy that all territory that was part of Mother Russia belongs to Mother Russia. Putin is a strong man and he uses threats and actual land grabs to keep popularity.
I think it's stretching it to say this has nothing to do with Russia when it's evident that Manafort was lobbying on behalf of Putin's interest in the Ukraine. Russia had long been using soft power to control Ukraine from within and it appears Manafort was instrumental in that campaign. When the soft power bribery approach failed Russia then invaded Ukraine, seized territory and fomented an armed conflict.
The Con Man has been laundering money for Russian mobsters for decades.
http://www.cnn.com/2017/07/10/.....index.html
We all knew that Hillary was laundering money for Russian mobsters for decades.
Its called the Clinton Foundation.
Why did Trump pick Manafort to run his campaign? What's the deal there? What the fuck does Manafort bring to the table? If Manafort was running cash around for Putinists for a decade how does he wind up running a presidential campaign in 2015?
Because Trump's an idiot, and he's new to this game and therefore really bad at it.
He and his close associates and family members are on record soliciting help from Russia during the election.
This is largely a matter of stupidity. It's easy to commit a crime in Washington. Maybe he was just too fucking stupid to realize that colluding with a foreign government for help in an election was a bad thing.
Maybe people that fucking stupid shouldn't be president, before we even start talking about criminality.
He's MY President, you Obstructionist!
I just hope they're smart enough to use a double flush bathroom email server.
"double flush bathroom email server"
Y'all are on a roll today!
I have busted out laughing multiple times today.
I hope they wipe it, like with a cloth or something.
Tony's Dems ain't gots a lotta room to talk about smarts. The GOP chose a non-Beltway real estate hustler to recite their platform, and Trump recites it like an actor--down to the gun and energy planks lifted from the LP. Trump also told Nick to his face that he likes libertarians. The problem is people who talk about other people end up as remoras for one side or other of the DemoGOP aisle, and cannot grok a word spoken in a conversation about ideas.
And also because a lot of the more qualified and reputable Republican campaign management types didn't want to work for Trump in 2016.
Yeah, the problem is you cannot really say someone a total idiot and then say they were the mastermind behind vast conspiracies that would require intelligence to pull off.
Its why many people are not buying the media's propaganda as the reality is showing that Trump is playing nth D chess and was not involved in criminal behavior.
"the problem is you cannot really say someone a total idiot and then say they were the mastermind behind vast conspiracies that would require intelligence to pull off."
But that's exactly what Congressional Democrats who voted for the Iraq War said. That Bush tricked them somehow despite being a complete and utter idiot.
To manage the nomination through the end of the RNC, when he was no longer needed. Certain people have specific talents, you realize...wait, you might not realize that.
He put down, hard, the concerns about electors not voting for the winner of the primaries. Lewandowski wasn't going to be good at that, nor was Kellyanne Conway. He found the person to do a very specific job and had him do that very specific job.
Can you explain what Podesta brings to the table, besides deeper ties to Russia and sheer ineptitude?
Hillary never let him go, either --- so you cannot claim she is able to recognize incompetence.
Well, the founder of the Podesta Group, who has been lobbying for Russian interests for years (and also lied about it) was running the other campaign...
Manafort is an expert at lobbying for the interests of horrible psychotics. So the perfect man for the job.
As was Podesta.
Who did the exact same thing.
If the Ukraine was good enough to receive something like 20% of our Uranium, what's the problem here?
Oh, right, gotta put some heads on some pikes or it might look like it was just a witch hunt. Not to say that Manafort is innocent or anything, but lets just say I don't trust any of the parties involved even a little bit.
But wait! Does this mean that Manafort was the evil genius that fooled Hillary's State Dept. into giving away that Uranium? I eagerly await the spin.
Best to look stuff like that up on Snopes before you go around the internet making an idiot of yourself.
Not only are you licking Republican ballsack, you're repeating their desperate bullshit propaganda.
Ukraine has no uranium from the US. Hillary Clinton did not personally order it. It's all been debunked. Look it up. It's the age of google for Christ's sake.
I didn't realize state departments sold uranium? I'm pretty sure the private company that sold the uranium was owned by Canadians.
Apparently you didn't realize that State departments have to approve those sales though.
The headline on the website Pravda trumpeted President Vladimir V. Putin's latest coup, its nationalistic fervor recalling an era when its precursor served as the official mouthpiece of the Kremlin: "Russian Nuclear Energy Conquers the World."
But the untold story behind that story is one that involves not just the Russian president, but also a former American president and a woman who would like to be the next one.
At the heart of the tale are several men, leaders of the Canadian mining industry, who have been major donors to the charitable endeavors of former President Bill Clinton and his family.
Whether the donations played any role in the approval of the uranium deal is unknown. But the episode underscores the special ethical challenges presented by the Clinton Foundation, headed by a former president who relied heavily on foreign cash to accumulate $250 million in assets even as his wife helped steer American foreign policy as secretary of state, presiding over decisions with the potential to benefit the foundation's donors.
Oh great! Ken opens mouth, goons order gag. Real news would be the Dem and GO-Pee factions missing a chance to slip a poniard into each other's backs. What care we about their spitting matches?
Yes and no. Indicting Manafort on these charges gives the prosecutors leverage to get him to spill the beans about something else they want much more. Donald Trump's scalp. You always start with people lower down the ladder and get them, under threat of tremendous criminal liability, to testify about the next level up on the ladder. I am sure the prosecutors offered something like that to Manafort's lawyers. Who rejected it, for now.
Boy, the Clouseau's at the Hoover Bldg, have solved the crime of the century - uncovering one of the most open secrets in DC.....
Manafort had financial ties to political interests in Ukraine.
Hold The Presses!
I'm sure that their next discovery is that water is wet.
Wait! You mean Ukraine is no longer part of Russia? Those crazy Cossacks have finally outdone the Bolsheviks! Clearly Mueller has a lot to learn about geography.
"Show me the man, I'll show you the crime"
