I think the crux of the argument is located further down in the article - aside from the obvious protectionism.

They have declared Uber contractors to be employees, deserving of things like holiday pay, paid days off, sick leave, etc. This despite the fact that drivers set their own hours, can chose what rates they will accept and where they will drive and Uber has no say over any of it.

While, last year, the GMB Union helped bring two test cases to a UK employment tribunal accusing Uber of acting unlawfully by not providing drivers with basic workers' rights like holiday pay and the minimum wage.

In October the tribunal delivered its verdict, rejecting Uber's argument that the drivers in question were self-employed contractors

So, unions.

Seems to me, an ocean test would be the best thing that could possibly happen. I don't blame Trump for Kim's actions, but I do blame him for his stupid response. Apocalyptic bombast has long been a specialty for the Norks, and no one really expects them to back it up in anything other than symbolic ways, since everyone knows they can't. But when the POTUS starts responding in similar tones, it really can't end well. When you really do have a big stick to swing, people eventually expect you to put up or shut up. Best-case scenario is that this all eventually blows over, leaving Trump (and by extension the US) looking like a silly blowhard. I don't like that much, but I like it a whole lot better than the likely cost, in both money and human death and suffering, of military action against North Korea.

Then again, I'm still desperately trying to figure out why North Korea is America's problem in the first place. They're tiny, poor and a long way away from us, therefore posing zero existential threat. Let China, South Korea and maybe Japan deal with it. They have some actual stake in the matter, whereas we only do because we choose to involve ourselves.

ISIS on the run

The U.S. air mission against the Islamic State is operating at a high tempo and making significant progress, Air Force Lt. Gen. Jeffrey L. Harrigian told "Fox and Friends" Friday morning.

Harrigan is commander of Air Force operations under U.S. Central Command, which carries out airstrikes in Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan.

"As you look at whats happening on the battlefield today, we've got them on the run," Harrigan said, adding significant progress has been made under the Trump administration. "Nothing but success."

College students do not understand/appreciate freedom.

It's not just crazy places like the University of California at Berkeley where surprisingly large numbers of U.S. college students believe that violence and shouting are acceptable methods to prevent people from saying things. Fifty-one percent of all U.S. college students believe shouting is an acceptable response to free speech, and one in five (19 percent) believe violence is an acceptable response, according to results from a national survey of 1,500 students in 49 states and DC.

Fifty-three percent of survey respondents said colleges should "create a positive learning environment for all students by prohibiting certain speech or expression of viewpoints that are offensive or biased against certain groups of people" rather than "create an open learning environment where students are exposed to all types of speech and viewpoints, even if it means allowing speech that is offensive or biased against certain groups of people."
