Johnson Space Center/Wikimedia Commons Caribbean islands are being devastated by Hurricane Irma as it makes its way toward Florida. Dutch troops are deployed in St. Martin to prevent looting.
- Fortunately, Richard Branson was able to ride out the storm in his fortified wine cellar. (The cellar was fortified, not the wine.)
- Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) is going to unveil his Medicare for All bill on Wednesday.

Are you sure?
He's a Brit, so I'm guessing there was some port in that cellar. And it didn't matter what kind, either. Any port in a storm.
YOU GET OUT OF HERE
Any storm, drink port?
Hello.
"Sen. Bernie Sanders (I ? Vt.) is going to unveil his Medicare for All bill on Wednesday."
As well as a gulag masking as a luxurious resort
Now I get why the Germans compound so many words. It's much clearer to write "fortified winecellar" or "fortifiedwine cellar".
You know what else the Germans compounded?
English can use hyphenation in some cases: fortified-wine cellar v fortified wine-cellar. German does have inflection differences, that English lacks, which helps in oral communication.
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I ? Vt.) is going to unveil his Medicare for All bill on Wednesday.
And this is when Bernie Sanders truly became president.
All 90 of the no votes came from Republicans.
You all see it. Republicans hate storm victims.
Racist obstructionists. Every one.

Finally!
The Confederacy was a con job on whites. And still is.
"How did the plantation owners mislead so many Southern whites?
"They managed this con job partly with a propaganda technique that will be familiar to modern Americans, but hasn't received the coverage it deserves in our sesquicentennial celebrations. Starting in the 1840s wealthy Southerners supported more than 30 regional pro-slavery magazines, many pamphlets, newspapers and novels that falsely touted slave ownership as having benefits that would ? in today's lingo ? trickle down to benefit non-slave owning whites and even blacks. The flip side of the coin of this old-is-new trickle-down propaganda is the mistaken notion that any gain by blacks in wages, schools or health care comes at the expense of the white working class.
"Today's version of this con job no longer supports slavery, but still works in the South and thrives in pro trickle-down think tanks, magazines, newspapers, talk radio and TV news shows such as the Cato Foundation, Reason magazine, Rush Limbaugh and Fox News. These sources are underwritten by pro trickle-down one-per-centers like the Koch brothers and Rupert Murdoch."
One "trickle down" effect was that many whites (probably more than the number actually owning slaves) would rent out slaves to work in their stores, to bring in the harvest, etc. This part-time work force cost less than hiring free whites to do the same labor. One can't discount the scare mongering, either: slave revolts with murder and rapine if any leniency was shown, freed ignorant blacks roaming the cities looking for white women, crimes, etc. etc.
Caribbean islands are devastated by Hurricane Irma as it makes its way toward Florida.
Devastated as in actually devastated or devastated as in clickbait headline devastated?
I saw one headline that said "decimated," so 10% of them are completely gone.
Devastated as in very grief-stricken. The islands can't even with Irma right now.
From what I've heard and seen there's some pretty actual devastation. Just about every building on Barbuda is destroyed, or so I've been told.
Outrage as Jennifer Lawrence claims Hurricane Harvey and Irma are Mother Nature's revenge on President for his attitude towards global warming
Now I am not going to see the movie that I had no intention to see!
" worst flooding in recent memory"
"Bitch please"
Galveston 1900
You consider 1900 to be "recent memory?"
I consider it close enough to be relevant, as it is in my grandparent's lifetimes.
What I find amazing about a storm like Harvey is how few people were killed compared to Galveston. Hurricanes were there before climate change, and killed more people. Yet we have people acting like Harvey would not have happened if Clinton was president
More evidence to support my theory that she has Down's Syndrome.
I just lost a couple of IQ points reading that.
TIL that hurricanes care about American politics.
Wait, I thought it was because of all the homos?
Someone needs to stop these religious demagogues.
This part is the best:
After Houston suffered the worst flooding in recent memory from Harvey and Miami prepares to face a direct hit from Irma, the outspoken actress, 27, seemed to lay the blame for the natural disasters firmly with voters who are skeptical about global warming.
Who knew that majority Democrat-voting urban metropoles were global warming deniers?
It's almost like no one gets that the 30 something percent who vote Hillary/Trump in Texas/California are still huge numbers
They also tend to be the reason red stated perform so poorly in various rankings, or suck up so much welfare. But we prefer to round the numbers off to "red" or "blue" then call people hypocrites and move on. rather than asking questions like why the states with the most impoverished people might have the lowest opinion of the value of welfare.

I'm sorry I missed the stimulating discussion following Mangu-Ward's post. Fortunately there were other law and order libertarians to set things straight.
Yeah, i skipped the shit out of that comments section.
It wasn't all bad. The "the law is the law" contingent was out in force, though.
I had A LOT OF THINGS TO SAY, but it's not like I'm gonna bother now.
I apologize for y'all's loss.
Fortunately there were other law and order libertarians to set things straight.
You're welcome.

OT: Maxine Waters is still, well, Maxine Waters
"What can we do to deal with the KKK, the white nationalists, the extremists, the alt-right?" Waters, who serves as ranking member of the House Committee on Financial Services, asked during a Subcommittee on Terrorism and Illicit Finance hearing. "They're on the internet, they're Breitbart. If you look at the YouTube, you see how much they want to kill me and others. What can we do?"
The hearing was held to discuss small-scale and "lone-wolf" terrorist threats, with much of the focus on the financial aspects of terror plots. Seamus Hughes, deputy director for George Washington University's Program on Extremism and former senior counterterrorism advisor for the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, told Waters that domestic terrorists are as much a threat as foreign-born terrorists.
Shes worried about a few dudes who troll on the interwebs and not the actual, organized, violent movements of BAMN, Anti-Fa, and BLM...
Why should she? Those are her violent movements after all.
Ok, so it's exactly like that other form of terrorism: it's uncomfortable that it exists even though we should remember it's pretty tiny over here, it might be worth addressing the problems that make people so radicalized, and we shouldn't sell all of our freedoms to catch the 80 or so people out there that we need to worry about, most of whom are surrounded by FBI informants anyway

OT: Hillary Clinton won't go away and is entirely delusional
In her new book What Happened, Hillary Clinton went after NBC's Matt Lauer for his "Commander in Chief Forum" he held during the election.
She explained about how upset she was that at a town hall interview that was supposed to focus on foreign policy, Lauer spent a substantial amount of time on her email scandal.
"Now I was ticked off," she wrote. "NBC knew exactly what it was doing here. The network was treating this like an episode of The Apprentice, in which [Donald] Trump stars and ratings soar. Lauer had turned what should have been a serious discussion into a pointless ambush. What a waste of time."
Clinton even mentioned the urge she had to take matters into her own hands.
"I can't say I didn't fantasize about shaking some sense into Lauer while I was out there," she admitted.
She accused Lauer of giving then-candidate Trump a "soft-pedal" interview.
"I was almost physically sick," Clinton said.
Yea, NBC was totally in the tank for Trump. Also: STORNG. WOMAN.
Almost physically sick?

Hillary is the Queen of all Cunts.
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I ? Vt.) is going to unveil his Medicare for All bill on Wednesday.
Speaking of things that won't go away...
The House passes a three-month debt ceiling limit increase, tied to Hurricane Harvey aid.
Because of course it is. And keep growing the problem because feelz.
"Medicare For All" as a slogan puzzles me. But guess it's a better slogan than the more accurate "Let's Take an Insolvent Program and Give It Even More Unfunded Liabilities"
What does he care? He's gonna die before The Reckoning.
Oh, I think Bernie intends to make it solvent through tax increases. If medical costs run up to, say, 75% of GDP, then he would have the government take 75% of your earnings (or enslave doctors and force anyone with intelligence to go into the medical field.) It will be great, I tell you.
As I understand it, there are already legal limits on the number of people who can become doctors each year. So it would run counter to that to start forcing people to do it.
You mean we artificially limit the supply of medical care in this country?
I guess it's great that the left wants to increase demand!
Yeah, don't quote me on it though. My assertion is approximately of the level of "I think I remember reading this somewhere."
Another very important message about video games today.
On Tuesday, Ys 8 will be coming out on PS4, Vita, and PC. For those unfamiliar, Ys is an incredibly long running Action RPG ( 30th anniversary is this year ) made by a company called Nihon Falcom. This is one of those series that is crazy big in Japan but only recently has had much traction in the West. They are incredible games, and everyone should check them out. The whole series is super good.
They are also super famous for their awesome music.

"The House passed a three-month debt ceiling limit increase, . . . "
That Trump is one hell of a deal maker. Somehow, against all odds, he convinced Congress to continue spending more money.
But he's still so unprecedented. We've never seen a president like him who wants to spend a ton of money, bomb foreign countries, appoint guys from Goldman Sachs, etc.
