In the Obama era, it pretty much went out the window entirely, especially after the death of Bin Laden.

To the extent that I've been drawn into seeing Trump in a better light (I'm the one who first called his wife "Melanoma"), much of that had to do with seeing his enemies try to disrupt his attempts to work together with Putin.

The progressives went after his attempts to work with Putin because, first, they wanted Hillary to win, and after she lost, they wanted to make like it had to do with something other than a rejection of progressive politics.

The deep state (FBI, et. al.) went after Trump on his attempts to form a working relationship with Russia because if they have to cede Syria to Russia, that threatens their turf, their authority, and their future budgets.

In a time when police activity is under increased scrutiny, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit has joined a growing list of federal courts that say the recording of police officers in public is protected by the First Amendment.

The Third Circuit's ruling July 7 comes amid growing calls for police accountability and transparency in the wake of numerous high-profile police-involved shootings. These calls have led departments to use body cameras and enhanced conflict resolution training for officers. And now, civil rights advocates in the circuit, which covers Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware, have scored a significant victory with the court's decision.

"We ask much of our police," Third Circuit Judge Thomas Ambro wrote in the court's opinion. "They can be our shelter from the storm. Yet officers are public officials carrying out public functions, and the First Amendment requires them to bear bystanders recording their actions. This is vital to promote the access that fosters free discussion of governmental actions, especially when that discussion benefits not only citizens but the officers themselves."
