Japan has a plan for a manned mission to the Moon.
Nuke it?
Hello.
'Why are you protesting against Trump? The Russia story has been proven to be false. SCOTUS allowed parts of his ban to go through and he keeps winning.'
'We're protesting....because....er like.....he says mean things and Tweets a lot and he's evil...and such.'

I can never find a neutral rally in my area.
Rally In My Area was my nickname in college.
What makes a man turn neutral...Lust for gold? Power? Or were you just born with a heart full of neutrality?

The state government in New Jersey shut down over a budget stand-off, closing state beaches but leaving state troopers on the road.
New Yorkers hardest hit.
Patiently awaiting bold headline: TRUMP TO N.J.: DROP DEAD
Punish those that are not at fault.
The state government in New Jersey shut down over a budget stand-off, closing state beaches but leaving state troopers on the road.
And New Jersey Democrat Chris Christie soaking up the sun on one of those closed beaches.
Despite the best efforts of well-meaning rescuers to roll him back into the water.
I purposely held off making that joke to see who would take the bait. Congratulations, you're our Fat Shamer of the Day.
Fat Shamer Of The Day was my nickname in kindergarten.
I am gladdened to see, even HuffPo (as of 8:30AM) is mocking the Christie for bogarting the closed-down beach --> Christie, family soak up sun on N.J. beach he closed to public. And the second article at the link (not HuffPo) mockingly fails to celebrate Christie's legalization of ... sparklers for 4th of July.
New Jersey is truly the armpit of New England.
The fact that Christie soaked up all the sun on the beach, leaving nothing but shade for the common people, hardly seems news-worthy.
I though Jersey was a mid-Atlantic state?
That is hilarious. He didn't get any sun. He was wearing a hat. His family was sunbathing at the state beach house. Lmao.
I am unclear on the concept of "closing" a beach. Florida and Texas residents manage to have fun on the beach without state intervention.
New Jersey responds: FYTW
Yeah, well, New Jersey residents can't even pump their own gas, so figuring out a beach day is obviously way beyond them.
Same in Michigan. Hundreds of miles of beaches and virtually none have life guards. Trying to close beaches would take more labor than leaving them open. And there's a reassuring mix of organizations responsible (state govt, local govt, NPS, forest service, various land conservancies) so no single set of clowns could close them all.
I'm pretty sure Darwinism does a fine job of keeping people off the beaches in Michigan. Leaving aside the dangers of hypothermia and polar bear attacks, there is more feces in a cup of Great Lakes water than there is in a cup of feces.
President Trump tweeted a gif of a WWE appearance of him that placed the CNN logo over the head of Vince McMahon, who Trump bodyslams in the clip. Outrage ensued.
It's fake all the way down.
WWE and CNN both immediately issued a DMCA takedown request to Twitter for the copyright infringement. Nancy Pelosi called for an immediate investigation of "this serious, serious high crime of copyright infringement on the part of the alleged President". The NYT re-printed a screen capture of the tweet with the CNN logo pixelated.
It would have been better for all involved if Trump had put fake news over the head instead of the CNN logo.
Can't tell if serious.
I thought these highly intelligent (in their minds) journalists and political pundits understood symbolism, yet they couldn't, or wouldn't, grasp the simple symbolism of Trump taking down CNN as the Fraud News Network.
This story was apparently of such importance that it was the lead story on the Today Show. CNN condemned it as a call for violence against reporters. Seriously.
Of course, the idea of simply ignoring Trump's dumb tweets never occurs to anyone.
Eight people were injured in a shooting outside of a mosque in Avignon.
I don't suppose the location was coincidental.
Are you implying that mosques in Avignon are like Starbucks in Seattle?
The palais du pap? just isn't the same after Napolean turned it into a prison...
Another weekend of rallies in favor of and against Donald Trump.
I guess i'd be pretty riled up too, if i didn't have anything meaningful going on in my life.
China said a U.S. warship sent to the South China Sea represented a "serious political and military provocation."
To be fair, the ChiComs say that about a lot of things.
closing state beaches but leaving state troopers on the road.
"Make it hurt."
The logical conclusion here is that without government, we wouldn't have beaches.
It also reminds me of a few years ago when Pennsylvania closed down its rest areas when it hit a budget crisis. The Left ate it up -- they had no clue how they were taking the bait.
How Liberal Portland Became America's Most Politically Violent City

So now into the equation you not only have antifa versus white supremacists, but now you have antifa versus a much larger swath of the far right, which really increases the possibility for all sorts of things going on."
The possibility that Antifa's violent gang tactics might provoke an equivalent response from their political enemies never crossed their mind, of course. The "larger swath of the far right" are basically people on the normie side who might not be inclined to get involved with these sort of things, but are waking up to the fact that the left hates them and wants them humiliated and dead.
For all their love of Science!, progressives truly don't seem to understand how the laws of thermodynamics work.
The "larger swath of the far right" are basically people on the normie side who might not be inclined to get involved with these sort of things, but are waking up to the fact that the left hates them and wants them humiliated and dead.
I don't know about that.
What they left considers to be the far right is often people who work, pay taxes, and like a little liberty and freedom, to include guns.
I don't think he is far off on that. The likes of antifa, in their raging ignorance, tend to lump everyone into a camp of evil when the majority of people are just getting by, and that especially goes for those who did not even bother to vote for trump.
The likes of antifa, in their raging ignorance, tend to lump everyone into a camp of evil when the majority of people are just getting by, and that especially goes for those who did not even bother to vote for trump.
That's where Hillary's " half of his supporters are what I call a basket of deplorables" comment was dumb as shit. Trump got, what, about 62 million votes? So I'm supposed to believe that 10 percent of the country, plus half of whoever supported Trump but doesn't bother voting, are KKK members-in-waiting? A lot of these people are relatives, college-educated, middle-class types who just want to be left alone. Antifa's actions state "you'll conform to our ideology, or else."
I don't know about that.

I just don't consider the Oath Keepers, or the Proud Boys, etc, to be "normal."
I thought Oath Keepers were primarily military / police who make a commitment not to follow unconstitutional orders. I'm sort of surprised to see them lumped in as "white supremacist allies". Unless this is the normal leftist thing where everyone who is not Team Blue is a white supremacist because the Southern Poverty Law Center has deemed them a hate group?
It is.

I don't know why the broads of Reason wouldn't have a drink with you, it's not like they're the opposite sex. Sure, they may prefer to wear the dresses and the high heels and the make-up, but what guy doesn't want to liberate his feminine side once in a while? Doesn't mean he's a she.
I can try to give a titjob, but be prepared, it is a harrowing experience.
They are learning that broads are treacherous.
I feel like this is pretty shameful. I wonder how this compares to other nations. I am consistently amazed by how many men I meet who truly believe that Men and Women can't be friends.

President Trump tweeted a gif of a WWE appearance of him that placed the CNN logo over the head of Vince McMahon, who Trump bodyslams in the clip. Outrage ensued.
And the main stream media freakout only lends further justification for considering them to have zero credibility. I suppose I'll have to remind my lefty gf that Obo routinely berated FNC and it's viewers (bitter clingers, etc) and that he threatened reporters that reported info that made the admin look bad to provide relevant perspective. Somehow that was not a threat to freedom of the press.
Trump's targeting of his media enemies is far more blatant than Obama's passive-aggressive tactics, which is what makes these people so uncomfortable. That, and the fact that most of these people vote Democrat so they don't think singling out their political enemies is that big of a deal.
Ultimately, this is going to turn out like a lot of other chimpouts about Trump--it won't affect his support or opposition one iota.
The really funny thing is that because Trump retweeted it from his POTUS account, the tweet has to be saved in the Library of Congress. Some GS-7 on Wednesday will be converting the gif to an mpeg and putting it in a fireproof vault.
True genius at work.
Why bother? Just keep staring at her tits.
In final stages of Mosul fight, US plays larger role
well, if the US advisors are just standing there in the desert by themselves, they aren't really advising anyone then, are they? is this another koan I don't get?
I was under the impression that if you understand a koan, then it's not really a koan.
MUUUUU
I think they mean there are hundreds of US soldiers deployed to protect our advisors. (Arguably necessary, in light of the demonstrated reliability of our allies.) "Force protection" tends to quickly and deceptively boost the actual number of American personnel in war zones, actual or potential. In press releases, we're only sending a "handful of advisors", but once we have a few people there, we have to send more people to protect them. The more people we send, the more likely they are to get involved in combat. And then we have to send even more people, since our people are under attack. Remember, we started out just sending "advisors" to Vietnam, and ended up with tens of thousands of dead Americans. (Not to mention the-gods-only-know how many dead Vietnamese.)
"President Trump tweeted a gif of a WWE appearance of him that placed the CNN logo over the head of Vince McMahon, who Trump bodyslams in the clip. Outrage ensued."
It's no surprise if Trump really is going after the news media. The news media is the only group of people that poll consistently lower than Trump.
"Americans' trust and confidence in the mass media "to report the news fully, accurately and fairly" has dropped to its lowest level in Gallup polling history, with 32% saying they have a great deal or fair amount of trust in the media. This is down eight percentage points from last year."
----Gallup

And that poll was taken a couple of weeks before Trump was elected. The news media certainly hasn't done anything since then to repair its reputation.
Anybody else see the CNN reactions to Trump's gag?

Actually, clickbait may have too much class than to run a byline like that.
The news media is the only group of people that poll consistently lower than Trump.
You forgot about Congress.
I wish i could forget about Congress.
I always hate that statistic. Because people DO tend to like their own congressman. People cite it like its indicative of some kind of change that might happen. Really it's just people don't like other's getting pork, only themselves.
Liking your own Congressman while having a low opinion of Congress is probably what's meant by "don't hate the playah, hate the game."

It's hilarious that the 71-year-old President of the United States is Tweeting pureile GIFs?
No.
You should work on your reading comprehension.
I wrote that what he tweeted was hilarious.
I wrote that what he tweeted was hilarious.
To each their own.
You should spend 20 minutes every day practicing reading comprehension exercises.
Kegels don't count?
Yes, that is hilarious, too.
Only mostly.
Yes.
It is also hilarious that we have now had about 20 things come true from Idiocracy already:
Wrestling president, people walking out of prison(Kentucky), healthcare obvious death spiral, garbage avalanches(I think it was Sri Lanka), many more.
More electrolytes needed.
Yes, it is hilarious. When exactly were we supposed to start revering the President? The last guy who probably deserved the praise he got was Washington, and even he was ruthlessly slandered throughout his Presidency.
This idea that the President should be above such petty squabbles is easy to adopt when the nation's media organs are almost exclusively leftist in politics and juvenile in character, increasingly dominated as it is by j-school products who put activism and their own brand above the story. Stuff like this only raises Trump's profile among his supporters because he's doing what they've wanted someone on their side to do for years--give the lefty press a giant middle finger for years of biased operations.
Obama got away with telling his supporters to "punch back twice as hard" and quoting the Untouchables because he was a Democrat. That's really all it boils down to. So Trump retweeting a goofy gif (the same one Reason retweeted after the first Republican debate, no less) that had CNN superimposed over Vinnie Mac's mug does nothing but expose the press's own double standards.
When exactly were we supposed to start revering the President?
I never said a president should be revered. I do, however, think it is sad that an old man's childish Tweets are so inspirational.
Not to be revered nor is he inspirational. It is only funny because you might as well enjoy the collapse for its most ridiculous antics.
You have to admit, this shit is getting good to watch from all sides.

Great minds think alike, and apparently ours do too.
"This idea that the President should be above such petty squabbles is easy to adopt when the nation's media organs are almost exclusively leftist in politics..."
Good Lord. It is a CONSERVATIVE point of view that the president should act with some decorum and class, not some lefty plot. You will still see some conservatives tell you breathlessly that, for instance, Reagan always wore his suit jacket in the Oval Office because he had such respect for the office. (Not sure how a suit jacket does that, but that is what they claim.) It was conservatives who got all upset when Clinton turned the Oval Office into his private brothel, and even when Obama had the temerity to put his feet up on the Resolute Desk. Take a look at this for instance - if the Washington Post had written this about Trump, you would accuse them of having TDS. And you know what? These critics do have a point. The president is a leader, and like it or not, leaders get looked up to and emulated. Leaders should be aware of their status and behave accordingly, knowing that millions of people are looking up to them. Trump degrades his own moral standing and encourages others to engage in the same classless behavior when he engages in these petty conflicts.
We put to much emphasis on politicians being important. They are not.
It is a CONSERVATIVE point of view that the president should act with some decorum and class, not some lefty plot.
Playing by the left's rules is how conservatives got their ass kicked in the culture wars for the last 50 years. We have a society that's been increasingly defined by vulgarity, with the full blessing and enablement by the left, so what do conservatives have to lose at this point by simply saying "fuck you" to their ideological enemies?
Why the hell do you think the current GOP cadre is having such a hard time coming up with a "conservative" (haha) healthcare plan other than "repeal and replace with nothing"? Because it's easier to do the opposition kabuki theater than actually be responsible for anything, which has been the right's MO for decades. Christ, we mock the GOP on here all the time for not living up to their so-called principles, and now we're supposed to get bent out of shape because the current White House occupant isn't some twee William F. Buckley type? Get real.
It's hilarious that the 71-year-old President of the United States is Tweeting pureile GIFs?

You can't 'blow it'. It does all the stuff. Stark can get old and fat and, as long as all the fighting moves are programmed into the suit--Iron Man is good. You can play Iron Man till you're a corpse, Downey.
If the President's juvenile antics don't stop soon, even some GOPers in Congress are going to dust off the 25th amendment.
Over tweets? OVER TWEETS?
If there was anything interesting about Trump's gag video, it's that the news media can't seem to know what "fascism" is, what "violent" is, what "authoritarian" is, etc.
Trump didn't actually hurt anybody. in Saving Private Ryan, when Tom Hanks stormed the beach at Normandy, overran German positions, and shot the Nazis in their fox holes, he didn't actually hurt anybody. Those were actors. It was all make believe!
When Trump clotheslined Vince McMahon, jumped on top of him, and started beating the shit out of him, it was all fake. It wasn't actual violence.
No one's rights were violated. Trump didn't use his office to censor the media. He made a gag video. Does CNN not know the difference between authoritarian censorship and no one's rights being violated?
"Fascism", like really?!
If we ever do get a fascist dictator in the United States of America, don't expect CNN to report on it. They don't know the difference between fascism and comedy.
He made a gag video
It's a GIF, not a video. Someone on Reddit made the GIF. Somehow the President of the United States saw the GIF and decided to Tweet it - along with a fun caption! - for the world.
You think Trump doesn't kill time on Reddit when he gets bored of making America great again?
Actually, if we ever do get a fascist dictator in the USA, I don't expect them to report on it.
Because they do know the difference, and have far too much experience sucking up to fascist dictators.
They'll only call out the guy who wouldn't order them disappeared.
Indeed, Ken. If they keep defining fascism down, we'll all be fascists soon.
We already are. The US is far more similar to a fascist state than anything else. You only need consider the german economy during the Nazi rise. They were all cronyists and glad to be on board the debt fueled rebuilding of the country. Fascism as a system is markedly defined by government collusion with favored businesses. And then when it fails, socialism next, followed by total authoritarianism, war, then failure.

Can we just take a moment and reflect on how inspiring and amazing and cool it would have been if Hillary had tweeted a gif from, say, Girls.
