    TRUMP IS GOING DOWN.

It's funny, but the Obama loving leftards really believe this.

I bet 90% of the civilian federal government employees will be wasting the taxpayer's money watching this live instead of wasting the taxpayer's money... doing whatever they normally do.

      1. Juice   8 years ago

This is sort of like watching porn to them, so it won't be much different.

      2. Enjoy Every Sandwich   8 years ago

The bars in DC (and, I imagine, other Blue cities) are opening early to have "watching parties" for the testimony. Jeebus, they must be expecting BIG things from Comey.

        1. loveconstitution1789   8 years ago

Of course, NOW they want Comey to have character and stand up to a President.

Me thinks they would not hold viewing parties when Comey is called to testify at Hillary's criminal trial for mishandling classified information.

        2. Domestic Dissident   8 years ago

And every DC Reason "libertarian" will quite likely be at one of those bars, riveted to every word, probably while trying to bum free drinks from other people the whole time.

          1. Enjoy Every Sandwich   8 years ago

LOL they can do that pretty easily; I heard that one bar will be offering a free round to the house every time Trump live-tweets during the testimony. I'm betting the DC police are bracing for a bunch of public drunkenness by early afternoon.

My morning news/DNC organ literally led with "The man who might take down Trump will speak later today..."

NPR flatly stated that it's going to come down to who's more credible, Comey or Trump (not on Wait Wait... either) and the way they tell it, you'd think Comey was up for a Pulitzer for the memos he wrote. Comparisons to Nixon continue despite the now relatively known/admitted fact that Comey's testimony confirms Trump not to have been involved with the Russians and/or under investigation.

Personally, this makes Trump look worse than Bill Clinton. He's going to have obstructed justice and be less guilty than getting a blow job.

    6. BYODB   8 years ago

I was listening to his testimony while driving into work this morning, and every meaningful question I wanted to know the answer to was basically deflected; to be answered in the closed session.

      This is as expected.

The public hearing portion is pure, unadulterated propaganda and a vehicle for Comey to restore some of his lost credibility to the American public as quid-pro-quo for him directly assisting the Democrat party in their witch hunt. If they rebuild him, he can be a weapon once again.

Not Wanting Your Boyfriend to Wear Lace Shorts Is Deemed Problematic

lacy shorts for men are a thing now, and just like with the male romper, the Internet is split into three camps on the issue: The people who think it's awesomely progressive, the people who don't like it, and the people who think that the people who don't like it are problematic for not liking it.

We can't even have nice things, men.

Outside of hipster doofus land and pretentious "woke" fashion, it seems like most people still dress in non-weird ways.

          ^This^

Pretty much every dude I interact with on a daily basis wears the same stuff I do: polo shirts or T-shirts, blue jeans or khakis, and sneakers. I don't personally know any guy who wears skinny jeans, male rompers, lace shorts, or has his hair in a man bun. I've never seen any of this shit "in the wild." I guess my friends and I just aren't woke.

          1. Enjoy Every Sandwich   8 years ago

I live in Northern VA so I do see some of this stuff. My hobby is live music photography so that does take me into contact with the sort of people who would do this. But Zeb's point is well taken in that there are areas where masculinity is not yet regarded as "toxic".

          2. Citizen X - #6   8 years ago

I used to be part hipster and am still socially hipster-adjacent, and i only know one dude who sported a man bun (for a week in 2013 until his wife made him stop) and none who have tried any of that other garbage. At least, not in public.

New Anacortes-built trawler could be grounded by old law, endangering two local firms

The largest, most modern American-made trawler built in nearly three decades may be barred from fishing in U.S. waters, with financial repercussions to its local builder and buyer "so draconian that neither company may survive."

That's the scenario painted by the law firm that Anacortes shipyard Dakota Creek Industries has hired to seek a rare waiver from a century-old law called the Jones Act, which they acknowledge wasn't properly followed when the shipyard began building the state-of-the art, $75 million vessel America's Finest.

The shipyard's mistake ? using too much foreign steel that was modified before coming into the U.S. ? could mean the advanced ship must be sold abroad at a big loss.

    BUILD LOCAL

    1. BYODB   8 years ago

Sure, that makes sense. Lets sell a ship named 'America's Finest' abroad because they used too much foreign steel. While that's ironic, I think it would dial the irony up to 11 if they sell it to the Saudi.

Canal Street's Fidget Spinner Economy Is Fierce

"I went out and bought four dozen, just to see what would happen," Nguyen told the Voice on a hot weekday afternoon, as Canal Street thronged with traffic and the air faintly hummed of spinners. "They sold out in a day."

Now Nguyen's stall is almost entirely consumed by fidget spinners. They run $6 apiece on the low end of things, and up to $20 for the fanciest of them.

"What do these things do?" asks a customer.

"They're a physical distraction to help you focus and clear your mind," Nguyen responds.

Out on the street, in every stall and storefront: spinners. Spinners everywhere.

    1. pan fried wylie   8 years ago

"Man, is it me, or are people really fucking retarded lately?"

Marvel movies are commercial bonanzas, but DC has a bigger and better idea

Marvel and Disney have created a sort of perpetual motion machine, churning out intellectually spare but critically and commercially successful films based on beloved properties. But DC has done them one better,* creating a morally serious cinematic universe devoted to thinking about an interesting question: How would humanity react to the discovery that gods walk amongst us?

But an interesting failure in its mold is almost always more memorable than bland competence such as "Ant-Man" or "Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. II" ? even if bland competence seems to be what critics prefer.

    1. paranoid android   8 years ago

No one who has seen Sucker Punch would accuse Zack Snyder of being "morally serious".

But an interesting failure in its mold is almost always more memorable than bland competence such as "Ant-Man" or "Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. II" ? even if bland competence seems to be what critics prefer.

Does this author seem to think it's some sort of piercing insight that people prefer competence to failure?

      1. Cynical Asshole   8 years ago

No one who has seen Sucker Punch would accuse Zack Snyder of being "morally serious".

But DC has done them one better,* creating a morally serious cinematic universe devoted to thinking about an interesting question: How would humanity react to the discovery that gods walk amongst us?

If DC actually were doing this, I would love it. I want the super hero movie equivalent of The Godfather, that takes a frivolous genre and uses it to make serious art. The Dark Knight is probably the only recent superhero movie to come close to doing this.

The problem DC isn't actually doing this because they learned all the wrong lessons from The Dark Knight. Since then, they've created one movie after another that tries to LOOK serious, but grafted on top of a ridiculous story, and then they muck it up even more by having a bunch of executives with no film experience come in and screw up the editing.

      1. BYODB   8 years ago

Superman was actually morally serious when you consider it's undertones that Superman was literally the libertarian revolution from a stagnant socialist Utopia that ultimately self destructed.

I'm not saying that it was some sort of brilliant film or anything, but it's underlying theme's were pretty strong. Why do you think young Clark Kent was clutching a copy of 'The Republic'?

    3. Unlabelable MJGreen   8 years ago

"intellectually spare." Is Sonny also a sapiosexual?

Also, from what I've heard, Wonder Woman is only successful because it apes Marvel's lighthearted tone (more competently than Suicide Squad did, anyway).

'Mummy' Star Sofia Boutella Joins Michael B. Jordan in 'Fahrenheit 451'

Boutella is playing the female lead, while Michael B. Jordan and Michael Shannon are also starring in the adaptation of the Ray Bradbury classic.

Bradbury's 1953 novel is set in a futuristic America where books are outlawed and those that are discovered are burned by "firemen." Jordan will play Montag, a young fireman who forsakes his world, battles his mentor and struggles to regain his humanity. Shannon will portray Beatty, Montag's captain and mentor.
