Watch Matt Welch Tonight on HBO's Real Time With Bill Maher
Reason editor at large joins Killer Mike and Jon Favreau in conversation about Comey, Russia, health care and more

Tonight live at 10 p.m. ET I will be participating in HBO's politics-and-comedy program Real Time With Bill Maher, along with co-panelists Killer Mike of Run the Jewels (watch his great 2014 interview about Ferguson on The Independents) and former Barack Obama speechwriter and current podcast breakout star Jon Favreau. Who knows what President Donald Trump will tweet between now and then, but the topics are currently scheduled to include the James Comey firing, the Russia/Trump investigation, the American Health Care Act, the 2018 mid-terms, the GOP legislative agenda, and so on.
As the image to the right indicates, you can submit questions for the Overtime segment, so get cracking!

Jon Favreau is this generation's Ted Sorensen, and I don't know why.
Good luck Matt, we're all counting on you.
Clearly you are immune to peer pressure. Real libertarians hate Mahr, therefore real libertarians will not be watching.
You son-of-a-bitch!
I thought I had my first "FIRST!" post.
"Watch Welch tonight on HBO's Realtime.."
That would necessitate watching Maher. No can do.
Hopefully someone will upload Matt's segment, with an air horn or high pitch screech sound over the other contributors' voices.
Except Killer Mike, I guess.
when is the comedy part?
We laugh at the people who actually watch.
is Maher's chair higher than everyone else's?
Only when he's at a restaurant, and wearing that bib, throwing soggy crackers everywhere.
My new response to arguing progs:
"He who sits in a high chair should not throw soggy crackers."
Stop making fun of Maher's height.
His short little legs make his tiny peenie look bigger to all the whores back at Hef's mansion.
are there Alan Ladd-like elevated walkways on the set?
"My question is for Mr. Maher: what the fuck do you have to be so goddamn smug about, you human colostomy bag?"
What do you guys think of this assessment?:
Conservatives are best at smarm.
Liberals are best at smug.
Libertarians are best at snark.
Libertarians really aren't best at anything, it must be acknowledged.
OK, maybe resignation and despair, bolstered somewhat by cynicism.
And yet, you can't quit us.

"Libertarians really aren't best at anything"
And yet, the thing that Democrats/progressives are most proud of (their pure delusion that they support true social progress, opposing the violence inherent in the system), they are at least 4 decades behind Libertarians on.
And the thing that Republicans/conservatives are most proud of (their pure delusion that they support limited government/individual autonomy), they are at least 4 decades behind Libertarians on.
Here's something Libertarians are the best at - having principles based on a just and intelligent worldview. That's why you sockpuppets always eventually come around to parroting half of our platform when you need votes.
Thank you, Dennis.
I actually AM 37.
Yeah that's work but Welch isn't very snarky though. He more so polite, smart, charming. I would say libertarians as a group probably have the highest average IQ of the political factions.
It is known.
It's the smug style: very limited entertainment value, but someone you'd hate to work with, live with, be related to, etc.
I like the way Maher is quick to be condescending to his audience especially the awkward laughers.
Question for Maher: Just what exactly did the Russians do to "interfere with our Democracy" that Chocolate Nixon did not do in Israel's last election.
And what the fuck does this have to do with Trump?
At the very end did Welch say Armenian genocide shouldn't be a crime???
Matt's tie was conservatively successful (Navy/Royal stripes on blue shirt, with navy suit)
The purple is better, but i think he wore it on Maher last time. I have yet to see the purple with white shirt and grey suit. (the navy is better, but it has different effect w/ grey) Vain hopes.
also, Favreau did not wear a tie. also, he comes off simpering.
I did enjoy when Maher pulled Matt aside and has the "You're a republican, right?" conversation. Matt swats back well.
I skimmed through the second half of the show. I don't see matt being tossed any questions after Maher starts his segment on "Trump is Fat!! har har!!"
Also - something that just occurred to me after watching the show....
they had Favreau on, who (according to Shattered, which i just started) worked intimately w/ Hillary Clinton's campaign right before it launched, but abandoned it in the beginning because he saw it was headed for disaster.
And Maher didn't ask him a single question about it.
The Trump presidency is the perfect cover for the absence of any long term dissection of the slow motion tragedy that was Hillary Clinton.
