For a hot minute United had a new dress code for the flight attendants. It was a positive move, but seems to have gone away quickly. Union must have complained they were too classy.
Christ Bok, you knew this wasn't funny but you went ahead and spent five minutes scribbling to make it.
Christ Bok, you knew this wasn't funny...
I'm honestly not sure if he can tell.
Christ Bok was my nickname in college.
This is like the worst cartoon flight ever.
Harry Reid isn't flying first class? How the mighty have fallen.
It sucks when deregulation, competition, and the free market makes airplane travel so cheap the filthy scum who should have their disgusting fat asses on a Greyhound bus can afford to fly, ain't it? Air travel was so much better back in the day when the government controlled the monopoly and only rich folks who knew how to act properly could afford it.
^ Wears sweat pants while flying.
Haven't flown since the post-TSA flight where, after having to listen to some stupid cow behind me in the hour-long line commenting about how the long lines at security were an acceptable price to pay for knowing she was safe and people who complain were just stupid and doing all I could to keep from punching her in her stupid fat-cow face, I got picked for the free full-body massage by some creep too stupid to get a job at McDonald's and I knew if I ever had to go through that again I'd be going home in a body-bag and I'd be taking as many worthless TSA fucks with me as I possibly could. I ain't a people person to start with and that right there is Exhibit A in my defense of my misanthropy.
+1 monocle
Back in the 60s and 70s, flying was much less unpleasant. Deregulation did result in prices so low that even the hoi polloi now fly. However, price competition also drove the carriers to cut out virtually all amenities and comforts as well. And, let's face it, popular prices mean that more passengers who are unattractive and ill-behaved.
If you really miss the 60s and 70s experience in commercial air travel, you are perfectly free to pay for first class. You'll have to pay inflation-adjusted 60s and 70s prices, but you'll get pretty much all of amenities and comforts of the earlier era of commercial flights. Flying across an ocean now is much superior to the old days if you're in business or first.
But commercial air travel will never return to the good old days of the 60s and early 70s no matter what you pay. The government will see to it that all passengers without exception endure the TSA's unpleasantness before flying.
It really doesn't cost anything to not wear shorts and flip flops.
I must admit. Being of small stature and having to commute to/from NYC years ago... I know exactly how the guy in the bow-tie feels.
So even if this Bok creation WAS funny... it's not funny, maaannnn!
Only men fly and dress like slobs?
I liked how United claimed that their employees or guests on passes were "representing the airline." Like, did you ever see someone (non-uniformed) get on a flight with a sign identifying them as an employee? How would one know that the slob in the seat next to you was "representing the airline?"
