Brickbat: Submission Was Just a Novel, Right?

The European Union parliament has voted to remove the immunity of French presidential candidate Marine Le Pen after a request from French prosecutors. The move allows Le Pen to be prosecuted under French law for publishing violent images. French officials are investigating Le Pen for posting images of executions committed by the Islamic State.

Did you wander into some other office? This is Reason, where Islam is the religion of peace and any criticism is racist because you hate brown people.
Either Reason is schizophrenic or they've made an editorial decision against groupthink.
There does seem to be a change of editorial tone as of late. I would love to see a post from the editors explaining the many strange articles posted lately.
"An editorial decision against groupthink" does explain how a site can run both Stossel and Chapman articles.
Or, in the case of Chapman, an editorial decision against think.
How about the 2002 film Irr?versible ?
So I guess truth is no longer a defense to libel.
Truth has never been a defense against maligning somebody in most countries, even in the "Western" countries. England is no better than France in that regard. The US has unique free speech ideas, which the left is attempting to destroy with their hate speech crap.
I was referring to the legal definition, where there is recourse to a court for damages, not the corner bar where someone calls you out as a douchebag...
trying soooo hard not to troll...
That French law likely is not about truth, but about some idea of harm more along the lines of "intentional infliction of emotional distress". It's dubious.
??????O just before I saw the receipt that said $7527 , I accept that my mom in-law wiz like actually making money in there spare time from there pretty old laptop. . there aunt had bean doing this for less than twenty months and at present cleared the dept on there apartment and bout a great new Citroen CV . look here...... ... ..????????????____BIG.EARN .MONEY.___???????-
So we see how France would have likely decided Citizens United.
What the shit is the point of immunity if they can revoke it when you do something they don't like?
You answered your own question.
Ironically, this was likely a form of unpopular political speech, pretty close to - if not - the very thing such laws of immunity were intended to protect.
Do they actually want Le Pen to win? These people never fucking learn.
This.
You failed to mention that the 'violent images' was of James Foley being killed by ISIS. The context is important.
like Juanita implied I am alarmed that a person able to profit $8028 in one month on theinternet . you could check here ??????O ????? OPEN Big opportunities JOB ?????-
Do you want Le Pen? Because this is how you get Le Pen.
sur the bureau de ma tante?
at this point they deserve Le Pen
Veritas liberabit vos.
(Actually, I don't think anything could free the French, but it otherwise seemed appropriate.)
Well, the Americans pulled it off in WWII...
I once bridged this cultural divide the time I spent a week after the summer of 9/11 in a shit-stained hostel located in a Paris 'no-go zone' (before the term no-go even existed) getting wasted with Parisian Muslims. We listened to DJ Screw and they loved that shit. Thinking back on the experience you could almost see all of this coming.
She is apparently being prosecuted for "publishing violent pictures". More examples of bad laws in France... 🙁
And selective immunity for bad laws only compounds the problem.
