One minute late.
Yep.
Hello.
Will Obama claim he tamed the waters, calmed the winds, and re-iced the polar caps?
Why, he's bigger than Jesus and The Beatles!
put together!
he's bigger than Jesus and The Beatles put together X 1,000!
Robbo doesn't even do it the way it is supposed to be done. He seems to do everything the easiest, half-assed way possible. I applaud him for that consistency at least.
"What's an Al-Text?"
Al texts you something funny. You'll love it.
Al Lowe? Man ahead of his time, who got to see his creation burned and trashed.
Hey, he didn't have time for that or the links would have been late(r).
He's trolling. Welcome to Trump's America.
He is playing you like a fiddle. DANCE FISTY DANCE!
Rico 1 Fist 0.
It was probably Twitter making Roberto dance again to its tune.
I don't believe that Reason is obligated by contract to post the PM Links at a specified time, Fist.
It's a social contract. Signed by yours truly and Cavanaugh.
Robby stated H&R gets more hits if he's a minute late with the links.

Libertarians? A five.

We do not conform to your traditional one-dimensional definitions of beauty.
It's a flat-footed tie when you factor out the Everyday Feminism types.
They have that Christian woman fuck me thing going on.
Yup. One of the great movies (Dangerous Liaisons) was built around that very thing. With Michelle Pfeiffer as the smokin' hot pious woman. Mrowrr.
Yep, all the left has is the hate fuck, an activity that becomes riskier and riskier with every affirmative consent law.
Lady in the parlor, whore in the bedroom?
It'd be higher, but Warty drags us down.
Literally, with the event horizon of the Doomcock.
We wish we were 5's, more accurately I'd place us as 3.2's.
Speak for yourself. I'm a 6.5 easy, adjusted by region (that's a New York 4, a California 3.7, or a Washington D.C. 9).
There's no way a NY 4 is a CA 3.7. Maybe a CA 2.
I'll have to talk to my metrics people. The stats do seem heavily weighted toward NYC.
NYC adjusts for season. A winter four is a summer six. California has no such consideration.
+1 Clinton Landslide
When I was younger, I was a 10 or 11. Now I am a 50 year-old and that seems to be negatively affecting my number for some reason.
Winston's mom aspires to be a 3.2 some day.
The gun nuts make us avg out at 7.62
Nice.

Yeah, but all those brainy people are bringing us down with their 3.1416...
But seem to breed with 8+. Leading to good looking kids who aren't ostracized enough to become surly libertarians.
I remember Fluffy said something like "I think my son is too well-adjusted to become the librarian Kwisatz Haderach".
I miss that guy.
*libertarian
Libertarians are a 10 on the back hair scale.
'Sup?

I cannot disprove this.
Screw that. I'm dead sexy.

IF YOU WANT THE INSIDE THE BELTWAY THOUGHTS.
"To be sure, Obama has not always been fully on the side of freedom in every case..."
"There's no sugarcoating it."
"Some say he hasn't been forthright enough..."
I don't want to be inside Robby's "beltway" if you know what I mean and I think you do.
You want to receive?
Fag.
IF YOU WANT THE INSIDE THE BELTWAY THOUGHTS.
Is that like 'under the shirt, over the bra'?
"Holy shit guys, today my toilet wouldn't flush and I somehow managed to fix it myself."
Like I said before, every full moon Robby turns into a good ole boy named Buford. When he recovers the next morning, his car and appliances are fixed and there's the taste of grits in his mouth.
Soave's Wife: "Honey, why's there a four wheeler with empty Bud Light cans scattered around it in the driveway?"
Soave's WifeRoommates
Fixed it for you.
You mean his Yorkies?
Despite "Robby Soave gay" being the third hit in Google, he does have a wife, so he must be doing something right.
Or she something wrong.
No kids. Hmmmmm...
I was over last night?
Study: conservatives are better looking.
Umm, young people are all democrats, so this is obviously bullshit pseudoscience probably being funded by the right.
I would venture a guess that the people doing the study are left-wing:
"The study shows correlation, not causation, but the researchers float a simple economic explanation for why this might happen. Numerous studies have shown that good-looking people are likely to earn more, and that people who earn more are typically more opposed to redistributive policies, like the progressive taxes and welfare programs favored by the left.
"The researchers also offer a more general psychological explanation for the trend: That good-looking people are often treated better than others, and thus see the world as a more just place."
I think they've really hit on something here. People on the Left tend to be those who feel that the world hasn't treated them fairly, and they want their big daddy government to come and punish those people who have it better than they do. I would assume this goes for looks as well.
Anecdotal evidence: Most of the Bernie supporters I know talked in terms of sticking it to the rich, rather than helping the poor. Their politics are envy-driven.
Every 20 something girl I know burned for Bernie and kneel'd for Hilary.
Most of these girls are fire hot. I anecdotally refute the findings of this study.
But how many smoking hot broads are political? Some, but most? Even many?
NPR "Babes" = not that hot.
Hang out at Berkeley and I think you'll see that the numbers are not in your favor.
What they don't tell you is that when you filter Lena Dunham and Rosie O'Donnell out of the sample, the two go back to parity.
Are good looking people the next victim class?
/looks in the mirror scared.
/looks in the mirror/ PHEW!
[looks in the mirror - sees nothing]
*Grabs wooden stake and waits*
Hey, it's no reflection on you.
You're not a stoker of paranoia, are you?
/looks in the mirror, sees a large black man
"What are the rules?"
Looks in the mirror, wipes off shower steam so I can see my reflection...
OMG WHAT IS THAT BEHIND ME?!?!???
Towel rack. Jumpy much?
Study: conservatives are better looking.
Back when I was in the lobbying biz, I went to way too many political events. I concluded that you could generally predict the winners of the next election by the hotness of the chicks at the event. It was nearly infallible; its like good-looking young women have some kind of eldritch predictive power - they will hang out with the winners, dammit, and they seem to know who the winners will be before anyone else.
" I concluded that you could generally predict the winners of the next election by the hotness of the chicks at the event."
Checks the hotness of chicks at Hillary rally, Checks the hotness of chicks at Trump rally, hmmm could be onto something there.
There's a "despoiling the good little Christian girls/finding out they're sex maniacs" factor here. Anecdotally, based off of my high school being near the Catholic high school.
The links should have included this important detail: the study was about politicians, not voters. From the article:
This is believable, especially when you consider how in the US the high profile Democrat politicians are on average older than the high profile Republicans.
Fox News hosts vs. MSNBC hosts.
Game. Set. Match.
Title IX launch hashtag campaign asking Betsy DeVos not to rein in the Office for Civil Rights.
Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of social justice war.
Dogs? Cis-speciesist caninarchal shitlord!
I wrote bitches but thought better of it. So, kudos to me.
Life ain't nuthin' but bitches and dog food. Then you get neutered and it's just dog food.
Tell that to my pervy neutered terrier, who still tries to hump anything on four legs.
That would be "cats of social justice war." Those people don't have dogs, or if they do have them they're little rat dogs.
My cats are totally anarchists. One of them sleeps in the bathroom sink, because fuck your prescriptivist notions about what is and is not a "bed."
So does one of ours.
He likes to drink from the faucet and sleeping in the sink means he's always close by when the water gets turned on.
I think.
One of the best dogs I ever knew was a Cairn Terrier.
Cairn terriers are cute little fuckers.
And they're bitching because she gave $10,000 to FIRE.
Fuck them extra-hard in this case. FIRE is a good cause.
Paraphrasing Shakespeare? Be gone, you cis-gender appropriating shitlord!

Well, bye.
I can't check the video right now. Is it from Tombstone?

Val Kilmer's best performance.
It's that or Ghost and the Darkness. Top Gun will never not be fun.
I haven't watched Ghost & in years. I remember it being good.
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang or gtfo. Also, Willow.
Yeah, Willow. I said it. Willow.
^Agreed.
In reply to Hipster's comment on Val's best performance.
Uh. Real Genius? Top Secret?
Island of Dr. Moreau??
Top Secret for sure.
"Shop at Macy's, and love me tonight"
I don't know if Top Secret was his best performance, but it's about as good as a comedy gets. It's even better than Airplane and The Naked Gun.
I love that movie. Bet ya didn't see that coming!
Video added.
I thought you quit reading the comments...
He could never quit us.
[takes off cowboy hat and whoops]
Now THAT'S a euphemism.
He resolved to. But who ever follows through on those?
Val Kilmer seems your type. As in pretty hair-type.
*snaps teeth awkwardly*
Soave teeth clicked Gillespie during his interview and was immediately hired.
I'm trying to come up with a snarky reply, Robby, but that's just good sense.
It ain't gay for a man to love Kurt Russell.
"Jerk that pistol and go to work" seems a little gay.
You run your mouth awful reckless for a man that don't go heeled.
*open hand slaps fist*
You gonna do sumthin or are you jus gonna stand there an bleed?
Hmmm...you raise a good point. My current list is
-Batman
-Captain Harlock
so it would be nice to have a non-fictional man on it.
Isn't Harlock necrophilia?
Dunno, I saw only bits and pieces of various shows through the years, and that thing has more reboots and continuities than DC Universe anyway.
Still the most manly design anime ever did (yes I'm aware of Ken, Major Armstrong and Space Adventurer Cobra, among others).
I only saw the CGI movie and in that he was brought back to life by dark matter or something.
And nobody beats Post-Apocalypse Jesus for manliness.
True fact: Walt Disney's last words were "Kurt Russell."
Work on the alt-text skills, only then will you be able to complete your training.
Did he already complete the bit where he does flips around a swamp while carrying Fist in a backpack?
He walked the rice paper without making a mark, kinda like most of his articles.
Well, they were fleeing the Doomcock . . . .
Do or hairdo. There is no try.
carrying Fist in a backpack?
Nobody's that strong!
Sure they are. He's a corpulent little fellow, but he's only two and a half feet tall.
I thought that was just his prostate.
22 BMI.
We already knew you love cowboy attire.
He fast forwards to the Billy Zane scenes. 🙂
I'd skin that smoke wagon, if you know what I mean.
Pull out your gun and give it to him?
Did you mean to say "smoke that skin wagon"?
It puts the pomade in the basket ...
Obama will give his farewell address tonight at 9:00 p.m.
Hey, any proposed drinking game rules?
Chug vodka?
Drink whenever he says "uh," "um," or "let me be clear." You'll be passed out by 9:08.
Or take a shot whenever he switches between teleprompter screens.
8 whole minutes? Your alcohol tolerance may be higher than mine. If I tried that I'd be dead by 9:05.
I'm assuming that the show runs a little late and he doesn't start talking until 9:06.
Every time he says a word, drink.
Drink whenever he says "I". Yes, alcohol poisoning and all that...
Don't watch.
But it's our last chance to see The Man in action, Ted.
Our. Last. Chance.
If only.
Yes. He will completely disappear from the public eye as he spends the rest of his live seeking the surviving disciples of Padmasambhava in Tibet.
If only......
This guy is going to hang around more after his retirement than Oprah has.
He's going to figure out a way to get his mug on TV after every single thing Trump does, to say why it's wrong and what he would have done instead.
His worshippers will probably arrange to get a 24-hour Obama channel in the not-too-distant future.
He's not even leaving fucking DC, like every other ex-President has.
Not all of them. Taft became Chief Justice, and JQ Adams was elected to the House.
Taft left after he was President, and came back when he was appointed to SCOTUS 8 years later.
So, ya got me on Adams. I'll amend to "like every other ex-President in the last 175 years".
Five bucks says we see him on CNN and panel talks within the next year, maybe even Maher's show.
He'll be the next host of The Daily Show. He might actually be funnier than Trevor Noah.
I would probably watch that. Despite his many flaws, Obama can be funny. Unlike Trevor Noah.
I mean, low bar and all.
Dude the trailer for Barry on Netflix makes him look cooler than Luke Cage.
I saw that. He does come across as a total badass. Come to think of it, i may actually be thinking of Luke Cage. Never mind.
Is that the nigh-vulnerable black dude?
That's the one.
1) Pour self a grownup drink.
2) Turn off all newsfeeds to speech.
3) Enjoy drink.
I have a feeling if Obama floated this it would be seen as his way of 3D chess. You want someone wary of vaccines to make sure they're safe!
Fuck Robert Kennedy, Jr.
That is all.
Years ago we went to a "BayKeepers" charity event (the San Francisco version of RiverKeepers, which RFK Jr. has championed) and RFK Jr. was the speaker. After his little speech he came around to the tables to shake hands with each attendee. After he walked away my wife said "ewww..when he shook my hand he used his middle two fingers to stroke my palm!"
We asked around the table and sure enough, my friends' wives had also gotten the creepy handshake from him. Oh, I guess, except for one gal at our table who was fairly unattractive, who said "what are you talking about? He didn't do that with me!"
Slimy guy. That he's a vaccine clown doesn't surprise me a bit.
He is a slimy guy. Remember the story about his secret diary that his wife found, read, and was probably a reason she later committed suicide?
YOU JUST MADE THAT UP !
Or you SF'd the link.
One or the other.
Thanks!
This guy was a Clinton supporter, too. If Trump's going to reach across the aisle can he at least pick people that:
- Aren't retarded
- Aren't members of the US royal family.
RFJ Jr is also partially behind shutting down Indian Point.
farewell puppet
Obama still wont reschedule pot.
No fucks given.
Well, it's quasi-legal in several blue states, legal-legal in a few others, and the people who attended his fundraisers can smoke it without fear of legal consequences. That's good enough for the left.
Id imagine the left would enjoy "sticking it" to sessions.
The libertarians would just appreciate it, and Obama gets something that history will favor
Still a little over a week left!
UNPRINCIPLED LEFTISTS? No. Fucking. Way.
"Vaccine skeptic,,,will have a role in the Trump administration...."
Oh, boy, the Democrats are going to jump all over this guy!
"...Robert Kennedy, Jr...."
Oh, never mind.
Its a great way to consign Jr to a dusty alcove where he will not bother anyone.
Its a great way to consign Jr to a dusty alcove where he will not bother anyone.
Hey, what the hell, RC? What'd I ever do to you??
But.... they fucking love science.
Sen. Jeff Sessions says that if you don't want him to go after marijuana users, you need to change federal law.
Come at me BRO!
Don't we still have the Rohrbacher amendment?
President Obama will give his farewell address tonight at 9:00 p.m.
Thought Meryl Streep was done talking.
Half of his speech will be name-checking prominent Dems and the jobs they held as youths.
But then he's going to lurk around for another week and a half making people feel awkward.
Sessions says that if you don't want him to go after marijuana users, you need to change federal law.
Sheesh, Trump has a pen and a phone, too, doesn't he?
TRUMP brand Pen and Phone: it's the classiest, most beautiful, winningest executive pen-and-phone set you're ever going to find, believe me.
Solid gold plating on both?
Not yet?
From Spiked Magazine, NHS as a state religion, a leftist critique of current state of government-supplied health care in UK.
Coming to an Obamacare debate soon.
lol Is the upside here that this stupid idea might finally be buried once they've thrown a few more mazillion $ studying the issue?
They've already thrown a mazillion $ at the issue. There is no amount of proof that will convince the anti-vax morons.
So this is way Kennedy "dynasty" light finally flickers out.
Aren't there more of them? They are worse then fucking Karlings or Hapsburgs...
With a lot of rape and alcohol.
Etiquette question.
On pay day, what time should checks go out?
The prior Thursday afternoon.
Ideally.
12:00AM.
I expect it on my desk when i get to work.
Now.
You win! 2:45 pm and "i forgot"
...
Who still gets a physical paycheck?
Small company.
Construction workers who don't have bank accounts? People who are getting divorced who also avoid using a bank account? People who owe child support and dont use bank accounts?
[Paints mental picture of Brett L as a recently divorced construction worker avoiding child support and trying to make it as a professional poker player]
This just made me realize how awesome fucking direct deposit is.
I flashed back to my days living check to check as an urban wastrel in Memphis. Every Friday afternoon the banks were jammed with me and all the other derelicts trying to cash our paychecks before the bank closed because we needed the money for the weekend!
Back when I was still getting paper paychecks, they were delivered by 9:00 am on payday. Or else things got very hot indeed for payroll.
My old coworker said "this is the only reason we are here, (bosses name)"
Vaccine skeptic Robert Kennedy, Jr., who promotes the false idea that vaccines cause autism, will have a role in the Trump administration: chairing a new committee on vaccine safety.
Do we have a source for this other than Kennedy himself?
While I am not anti-vaxx, one of my best friends is very anti-vaxx. He is one of the smartest people I know. It is amazing to me all the information he has at his fingertips when someone challenges his view: Congressional testimony, the shenanigans of the vaccine court, literal burning of evidence by drug companies, etc. It was interesting to me how segregated the information sources are for the two sides. In any case, let everyone decide for themselves whether to vax their kids. Mandatory vaccinations are anathema to libertarianism.
There isn't a state with mandatory vaccinations. They're mandatory for school entry, but that's different, and in 48/50 states, you have personal belief exemptions to get around them (in the other two you can pay off a doctor to say your kid can't get vaccinations for some medical reason).
Vaccine court actually has lower standards of proof and easier evidence standards than a real court.
While you are listing, why not add that the seminal (and really only study) that linked autism to vaccines turned out to be colossal fraud, some of the most egregious fraud in the history of medical research? And then since then there's been hundreds of studies showing no connection whatsoever? And zero studies showing any connection.
All of that can be true... and the attempt to link Vaxxes to Autism (*a genetic disorder) can still be completely specious
agreed
Don't tell Bailey that.
First the Syrian refugees; now this?!
Look when I ordered a Korean bitch out of the mail order bride catalog, this was not what I had in mind!
Vaccine skeptic Robert Kennedy, Jr., who promotes the false idea that vaccines cause autism
If it weren't for false ideas, ol' Bobby there would have no ideas at all.
Sen. Jeff Sessions says that if you don't want him to go after marijuana users, you need to change federal law.
Can he at least pretend to be in favor of federalism and prioritize resources?
That's crazy talk, Fist. If the Founders had wanted laboratories of democracy they would have created them.
"Sen. Jeff Sessions says that if you don't want him to go after marijuana users, you need to change federal law"
Spoken like the true asshole that he is.
It's pigs all the way down
I will send Cedric $100 if he kicks another US Congressmans ass over this. Has to be on video though.
+1 Mirth & Girth.
Couldn't the House Republicans just push through a resolution to remove cop-hating art and sent it back to the artist? Rather than just a couple Representatives walking off with it, which sounds like stealing.
Maybe, but do we *really* want Congress passing anything that says "We don't like this message so we're getting rid of it?" I know it's probably technically not a 1A violation, but it doesn't look good, y'know?
At least they wouldn't be stealing stuff.
Seriously, if I were a Congressperson, and someone stole a constituent's painting, I'd be mad, even if it had a cop with a pig's head.
And if I could find a way to circulate a report that I'd beaten up the thief, even if I actually hadn't, it might help me with the constituents.
The New Republic did not like Jonathan Chait's new book about Obama's successes.
Jesus Christ, I clicked on it. Why do I click on Robby Links?
To be clear: only click if you miss Soviet-style reporting from Earth-2 where main problem with Obama and Chait is that they don't left enough and are far too easy on the racist, vile Republicans.
pretty much.
tho he also dings Chait for failing to list actual things that proggies *should* be upset about... like his drone-killings, surveillance state, the whopping hit to the pocketbook consumers have taken under the ACA, his deportation-regime, etc.
but you're right, his main beef is that Chait is too-pragmatist, and not screaming-lefty enough to inspire millenial lefty activists.
Robby Mook haz a sad
That's because most of us don't think of hacking as a crime like breaking and entering. Before the D.N.C. break-in, I thought of hacking as a prank by mischievous tech-savvy people to get revenge. When North Koreans hacked Sony Pictures in 2014 in retaliation for making the satire "The Interview," I was much more disturbed by the embarrassing things the movie executives said in emails to one another than by how easy it was for a dictator to punish critics in the United States. It wasn't until I lived through the Russian hackings of Democratic staff members and organizations that I realized how dangerous such an attitude could be.
I saw it firsthand in July, when I was asked about the first wave of stolen documents on ABC's "This Week" and CNN's "State of the Union." I thought it was a bombshell ? Russians hacked into the Democratic National Committee! ? but my alarm was dismissed by the news media and our opponents as merely campaign spin, feigned distress meant to dodge real questions about how the embarrassing messages might hurt Hillary Clinton's prospects.
To be honest, I'm not sure what his point is supposed to be, other than "teh Rooshun Hackerz stole muh cushy job in the White House".
We're supposed to be outraged about tyhe "hack" even as we ignore the content, I guess.
He barely made it out of the Clinton '16 campaign alive!
Mook's just mad that a bunch of computer geeks culturally appropriated the word "hack" from his people.
He's a lumberjack? Or at least dresses like one?
Wait, he was shocked because the DNC people said even stupider things to each other than Sony executives?
I thought it was a bombshell ? Russians hacked into the Democratic National Committee!
Maybe it wasn't a bombshell because there was no proof and the DNC refused to let the FBI investigate?
My recollection is that Russia was not in the picture until October. For a couple months, it was simply, "Wikileaks has emails it claims are from the DNC." There was speculation that it was provided to them by Russia, but none of the supposed 'analysis' from the CIA and all that.
No, the FBI and CIA et al knew that there were hacking attempts and didn't need the DNC's permission to know this.
It was just that no one saw the story as *useful* until after they lost the election, and needed something to blame.
Apparently, Sen. Elizabeth Warren is not happy about the President-Elect's pick for Secretary of Edumucation.
She needs a stronger vibrator to keep her calm and satisfied.
More wampum in wigwam?
+ Totem Pole
I'm now even more convinced that Quebec needs to be wiped off the face of the earth. You're a monster.
...And moist. I forgot moist.
Sigh.
[unzips]
Personification of Juvenile Bluster's mental efforts to not imagine Elizabeth Warren masturbating
She needs a stronger vibrator to keep her clam calm and satisfied.
FTFY
Politico isn't either. She donated to the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE), which somehow means she wants more women in college to be raped.
Fewer women in college, but raped at a higher rate.
I actually did not mind the Politico piece. It quoted responses from FIRE extensively and actually fairly accurately explained what the organization's positions are.
I didn't mind the content either, but I took issue with the title they chose, saying people were questioning her stance on sexual assault. I'm 100% sure she's against sexual assault, as almost everybody is. They should have said her stance on the role of universities in sexual assault allegations, or something similar. It's one of those subtle things the left loves to do
Fair enough. I did come in expecting a full on hit piece and was fairly surprised they actually tried to be accurate in their portrayal.
FIRE offered to represent some friends of mine when an organization I was a part of got in one of those little campus outrage things that Robby covers. They also released a statement in our defense. Love that organization. I'm starting to really like DeVos, and the prog outrage is just icing on the cake
They will attack her family during the hearings, too. She is the sister of Erik Prince, the man behind Blackwater, and she is very religious. I don't believe her religious past is in any way interesting, but relatives of hers have participated in anti-gay efforts.
FIRE gave me advice and offered to make my case official when the Title IX admin at Northwestern tried to get me in trouble for writing a number of things to her, the only one even slightly objectionable or offensive being "fuck you"
Meh. It's just because Lizzy looks like a schoolmarm.
AHAHAHAHA
So, being a teacher makes you qualified to head DoE and gives us clues as to your policy positions; also, we have no idea what DeVos's positions are despite her past political spending on education issues, which Warren then starts starts citing to criticize DeVos. Wild!
In what way does being a governor give you experience in public education, exactly?
Spending money on it. What else does Warren want from DoE head? Trials of heretics can be run by bureaucracy on its own.
Governors know how to kissum big ass of right people, like Fauxcahontas, for big favor.
First hand experience in fucking it up further counts as experience.
But when Warren's donors spend money on education issues, that's just for the good the nation's children. When someone does so to move the needle towards policies she disgarees with, well that's corruption or a conflict of interest or something.
That's half the point, you twat. It's also not even close to a requirement or anything.
Can India Put an End to Identity Politics?
NY Times views this notion of ending identity politics as a noble goal for India.
The dissonance is strong over there.
Shikha Dalmia hardest hit.
She so against identity politics that she comes full circle to be a staunch promoter of identity politics. At least where it concerns the possibility of whites voting like every other demographic group.
At least where it concerns the possibility of whites voting like every other demographic group.
The whole 'demographic destiny' narrative for permanent lefty regimes depends on the biggest plurality (at least) of the electorate for foreseeable future not acting tribal like everyone else is apparently supposed to.
Always the glaring unforeseen thing with prog-plans.
#EndtheDOEOCR
That piece of shit department needs to be destroyed and the earth salted to prevent it rising again.
OMG WAS THE POWERS BOOTHE CLIP THERE THE WHOLE TIME? Soave just jumped a few pegs upward in my estimation.
Okay, I see it wasn't.
lol
He stole from the comments. Sneaky, underhanded, lazy and brazen.
I like it - we need more Evil Robby.
I'd hate to see the attempt at a goatee.
No, no, Evil Robby is bald.
This. Evil robby has a buzzcut and a neck tattoo
And a biker wallet with a chain. He is also a open carry .44 magnum dual pistols w/pearl grips pro-2nder.
And an eyepatch.
and likes real sushi
Evil Robbie only gets a single vanilla pump in his latte.
Chaps... without pants.
/What many refer to (incorrectly) as assless chaps.
No wait, that's not Evil Robby, that just Froot SOOSHI.
In Mirror Universe, he's bald and has the world's best goatee. Kinda like Captain Sisko by the end of DS9 run.
And he qualifies every article with "although the ideals of the alt-right are noble, their methods are not."

Evil Robby is also a man of decisive, straightforward temperament and clear, concise speech.
*considers adding Evil Robby to Batman/Harlock list*
Pfft, Evil Robby is out of your league. Evil Robby spends all his spare time cruising around on his Low Rider, playing the bad boy and making vaguely sexist remarks to supermodels. He wakes up every morning hungover (or at least he would, if he was capable of being hungover), surrounded by naked women and men (Evil Robby isn't picky) and covered in a thin layer of mucus.
Pfft, Evil Robby is out of your league.
So are Batman, Harlock and Kurt Russel. The List still stands.
Evil Robby's lair is called Safe Space.

Well, shit.
1) good
2) $10,000?
the DeVos family is probably collectively worth nearly $10 billion. they wipe their ass with $10,000 bills.
Politico is basically saying, "Some people on twitter have a stupid complaint about a legitimate political position" and pretending this is big news
The commenters naturally translate this as the Secretary being "pro-rape"
"Some people on twitter have a stupid complaint about a legitimate political position" and pretending this is big news
Isn't that literally what being a journalist is all about these days?
Yes. its pathetic.
In fairness, $10,000 bills are probably counterfeit.
I was just kidding. Like everyone in Amway, they buy their toiletries from themselves and declare it as revenue.
To be fair, Amway TP looks like something a Venezuelan would be leery of.
Ouch. I'm sure they must have some more 'cushiony' type. that must be the stuff they distribute in the 3rd world. (hence the tri-lingual labels)
They did mention a couple of Dem Senators who may try to make a fuss about this at her confirmation.
Good. She should make Democrats own the idea of 'stripping students of due process'
Yeah, they're gonna try their best to frame it as denying justice for victims but she really shouldn't pull punches if they choose to trot it out.

Mexico Says "No Way Jos?" to Idea of Paying for Wall
i assume these are just the opening gambits in a compromise that will result in Mexican labor working for half-wages doing some border-landscaping.
Two options:
(1) Remittance tax.
(2) Authorize multi-million dollar bonuses to Mexican officials, payable when the wall is finished. No money to build the wall, exactly, but I bet you'd see a lot of wall going up.
You had it on the first one. When Trump first said this, that is immediately what came to mind. I really have very little doubt that Mexico really is going to pay for the wall, whether they like it or not and regardless of whether or not they consider it to be truly "paying for the wall" in this way. Money is so fungible and the Mexican economy so utterly dependent on these United States, I don't see any way around it short of Trump just simply losing the will to pursue it.
Trump gives Mexico two choices:
a) pay for the wall
or
b) pay even more for not having a wall
I honestly don't know which choice Mexican politicos would take, but I'm leaning toward b.
There should be a name for this type of standoff.
I was surfing through the presets on the company car and Hannity was on one of them. He said that when he interviewed Trump the other night he basically said they're gonna pay for it when all the businesses that were going to move there stay in the US.
"There is no precedent for an Education Department secretary nominee with your lack of experience in public education," she [Warren] wrote in a 16-page letter to Betsy DeVos...
DeVos probably gave that to somebody on her staff, and said, "Boil this verbose idiocy down to three sentences or less. I don't have time to waste on her drivel."
You're forgetting that that Lizzy wrote 3 sentences of drivel and then ordered her staff to make it look bureaucratic.

In a world where you can be 26 and still considered a child, this is unsurprising.
I'm seeing this more and more -- kids these days are acting younger than their counterparts of previous generations. Not sure if it's the sheltering or the helicoptering or the everyone-gets-a-trophy that's behind the phenomenon, but it's really happening.
My sister's two kids, ages 12 and 10, both still believe in Santa.

Today in "seriously, headine?", Swiss Muslim girls must swim with boys (headline on the main Euro news page, article itself is more reasonable)
How many Libertarian triggers are in these four sentences?
So swimming lessons are compulsory in Switzerland?
In case they get drafted into the Navy, I imagine.
As part of PE, probably? There's lakes and rivers in Switzerland, so seems as reasonable a part of PE curriculum as any.
They don't have to admit immigrants, but if they do, they can't make them leave their religious freedom at the border.
"The court also noted that "very flexible arrangements" had been offered as a compromise, including allowing the girls to wear burkinis during lessons rather than traditional swimwear, and allowing them to change clothes with no boys in the room."
Wait, they're offering as a *compromise* that the girls don't have to take off their clothes in front of boys?
That suggests that their starting position was compelling them to do this, but just to show their willingness to make concessions, they're willing not to impose such a requirement.
Sounds like a fun negotiating tactic. I should try this: "Look, we won't let you carry your Swiss Army knife to class, but as a compromise, we won't force you to wear a 'Switzerland Sucks' T-shirt."
Religious freedom is generally constrained by laws of general application. You can't do human sacrifice just because you are a follower of Shiva.
It gets really hard to balance the two once you get away from the easy cases that a minarchy would present. At some point, in a plenary state, freedom of exercise will come into conflict with no establishment of religion, which occurs when you start passing out legal privileges based on religion.
Of course it's tough to draw the line...of course, the various RFRAs in the USA put a heavy burden on those who want to restrict religious practices, even for purely "neutral, secular" reasons.
If someone wants a law, but applying the law to religious minorities *isn't* the least-restrictive means of achieving a compelling governmental interest, then they have two choices: (a) Keep the law but exempt the religious minorities, or (b) abolish the law. Option (b) would be religiously neutral *without* burdening anyone's religion, and so it should be the preferred option.
Except you are not dealing with Papal Decree or Catechist directive or anything of the sort here. There is no explicit prohibition on teaching children to swim in mixed classes in Koran, so now you're dealing with interpretation by couple of parents who knew the rules in the first place. Why should they be given special dispensation that locals don't get?
Specifically, why should patriarchal rules of Turkey override the non-patriarchal rules of Switzerland in Switzerland?
Like I said, they never had to admit these people at all. If they think the cultural gap is to big, just don't let them in. Switzerland knows how to reject immigrants.
No, the people let in are let in on condition of accepting local rules. The Cultural Gap is the problem of immigrants, not native population, and it is incumbent upon them to cross it, not the other way around. Or they can persuade local populace that sex-segregation in education is correct choice. Swiss, unlike other European countries, believe both in localism and direct democracy.
Now, because two Turks don't know how to follow the rules they promised to follow when let in means no Turks are allowed into the country from now on? Interesting idea, but seems like an overreaction.
I wound't want the kind of immigrants who, as a condition of coming, would be so base and corrupt as to agree to give up their religious freedom. Their very willingness to do such a thing would be an argument against admitting them.
But if they can use private schools and get exempt from the public-school tax that would be an acceptable situation, IMHO.
To actually get that they'd need even more overwhelming support than to "merely" change the national curriculum to have sex-segregated swimming classes.
Hence why everything is degenerating into culture wars. It's actually become harder to be left alone than to win the right dictate the rules for everyone (including yourself).
I wound't want the kind of immigrants who, as a condition of coming, would be so base and corrupt as to agree to give up their religious freedom.
Depends entirely on what they think their religious freedom requires them to do, IMO. See, above, re human sacrifice.
Being an absolutist on religious exercise leads to some very difficult places. I wouldn't advise it.
They don't have to admit immigrants, but if they do, they can't make them leave their religious freedom at the border.
Hmmm...95%+ of population + all the guns + all the apparatus of the state.
Yup, seems to me they can quite easily. Allah don't like it, arrange Ten Plagues of Zurich or someshit.
And if Muslims don't like mixing of sexes, they can talk to local Christians and see how far it'll get them. Something about private schools vs public schools might apply, too.
The story doesn't say whether private education is legal is Switzerland, though I recall a story about Sylvester Stallone teaching at a private girls' school there.
(I was almost right - "Stallone...served as girls' athletic coach at the American College of Switzerland in Leysin from 1965 to 1967.")
Seriously? It's Switzerland, of course private education is legal. Shit, it's a fucking industry!
Well, then, there wouldn't be so much of a problem requiring public-school students doing this or that...you could just take your kids out of public school...though I hope they don't follow the American system of forcing you to pay for public schools your kids don't use.
Maybe? I'm sure you can tax-deduct your private education, but Swiss schooling is done per-canton (i.e. state) basis, so how do you determine how much you "paid for public schools" as opposed to just "paid in taxes and fees".
I can't say anything negative or Servitor will kill me with his laser eyes.
The "conservatives are more attractive" plus the dumb antifa link at the bottom? I can't even.
?Sen. Jeff Sessions says that if you don't want him to go after marijuana users, you need to change federal law.
The relevant federal law, the CSA, provides that the motherfucking Attorney General can reschedule. Do you know what post you've been nominated for? The law says that Attorney General Jeff Fucking Sessions can reschedule marijuana.
Yeah, he could knock it down to Schedule V, but not de-schedule altogether.
Substances in this schedule have a low potential for abuse relative to substances listed in Schedule IV and consist primarily of preparations containing limited quantities of certain narcotics.
Examples of Schedule V substances include: cough preparations containing not more than 200 milligrams of codeine per 100 milliliters or per 100 grams (Robitussin AC, Phenergan with Codeine), and ezogabine.
http://medshadow.org/resource/.....-iii-iv-v/
Schedule 5 allows an awful lot of freedom. It just says the product has to be dispensed by a pharmacist to an adult for (what the pharmacist believes to be) a medical purpose, and that the recipient sign for it and not exceed some monthly limit if one is established. Like the way it is now with ephedrine & pseudoephedrine, by statutes that were written to parallel (but not be part of) schedule 5. That's less restrictive in at least some ways than state medical or even recreational marijuana laws. Given the current state of affairs, nobody's going to de-license a pharmacist for dispensing marijuana for recreational purposes, because everybody will understand that's what the law is about in everything but name.
And actually the att'y gen'l could deschedule marijuana just by ignoring treaty provisions, or interpreting them as nonapplicable.
Not only that, but even in recognition of the treaties, the att'y gen'l could exempt certain licensed preps (or varieties) of marijuana from the schedules by declaring them to not have enough potential for abuse to merit continued controls, even as marijuana generically is still controlled.
The re-scheduling-by-decree power is the only decree-power any of these fucks forget they have, or claim they don't have, etc.
But shit in Constitution and Congressional law about wars can be reinterpreted by a staff memo into decree-power.
If congress created "Schedule 0: Doubleplusunlegal: Electric Boogaloo", but left it empty, they'd suddenly remember their power to reschedule.
I think Sessions meant "if don't want me to do this, you have to stop me."

Ow, my balls!
Also, there's a lot of talk of "preservation of the Latino culture" and such, but no mention of how the proposal secures that. Just that if you want to open a new place, you'll be given an extra layer of scrutiny. So, palm-greasing exercise?
"So, palm-greasing exercise?"
I'm betting it has to do with approval by 'local committees' and given the bias toward 'hispanic', you'll want to hire Juan as a front-man in your negotiations...
Possibly, but of course, article isn't very clear on the unimportant, non-journalist stuff like Who? What? and How?
From reading the tea leaves of the mess that is the article, I conclude that this is a city-level initiative, so locals can stand there with their dicks in their hand while all the corruption happens in the City Hall.
Seriously, WTF is this writing?
The word "agency" appears twice in the article, both times in this (last) paragraph, and I have no idea who or what the "agency" is. It jumps from topic to topic, quote to quote while providing minimum information. It's so bad, Gillespie wouldn't turn it in.
There remains one "newspaper" in SF. The paper publishing end of the deal has been bleeding money for years.
In response, they hired some gal whose last job was marketing, and so we get hard-hitting pieces like "Vision SF: Inspiring Leadership with purpose" (a self promo 'celebrating local leaders'), "Beyond Homeless" (lame articles claiming to 'rethink' the homeless problem and deliver 'new solutions' like more money) and "Memes go wild for ripped ref in college title game" (don't ask).
Yes, it is that bad.
