Janet Reno Dies, Snowden Defends FBI Email Search Efficiency, Dollar Strong on Possible Clinton Win: P.M. Links

-
Ron Sachs/SIPA/Newscom Janet Reno, the first female U.S. attorney general, has died at age 78. She'll be remembered mostly for the raid on the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas, that led to a slaughter.
- The Donald Trump-side talking point is that there's no way the FBI could have analyzed hundreds of thousands of emails connected to Hillary Clinton's private server to see if there was anything classified so quickly. Coming to the FBI's defense is Edward Snowden, who tweeted that it was actually very easy. They're probably still not going to pardon him.
- The U.S. dollar has apparently endorsed Hillary Clinton for president.
- Jurors are now weighing how much in damages to award in the Rolling Stone defamation trial connected to the reported frat house rape that didn't actually happen.
- Swedish prosecutors will be interviewing Wikileaks' Julian Assange on November 14 over the rape allegations against him.
- A South Dakota highway patrol officer has been charged with stealing seized cash while on the job. He faces up to 10 years in prison.
- Iraqi troops found a mass grave with about 100 decapitated bodies south of Mosul.

They're very efficient when the DNC says to be.
Meanwhile, over at State, they're claiming it will take them five years to go through her thirty thousand e-mails. Maybe they can borrow some FBI agents to speed things up.
It's takes what they say it takes.

"It's the Soggy Bottom Boys!"
They's miscegenated?
Hola Rufus
They probably only checked to/from address fields -- and besides: 599,999 of the emails were dick pics from Weiner.
Hello.
"A South Dakota highway patrol officer has been charged with stealing seized cash while on the job."
Stealing stolen cash?
But who shall watch these watchmen?
Coast Guard?
Patek Phillipe?
A camera?
Some watchmen with mirrors.
Rembrandt?

And Will Ferrell's uncanny depiction.
Damn. Beaten.
You come meandering in here at two minutes past and think you get to have a unique comment? Get the hell out of here.
Yes.
Don't forget the child-rape cult that never happened.
It turned into a kiddie barbecue.
And for reminding voters of numerous Clinton scandals the day before the election.
Janet Reno, the first female U.S. attorney general, has died at age 78.
The home planet will rejoice - or maybe wince - at her return, wherever that planet is.
She's burning toddlers with the Lord now.
Whoa!
Helping god kill the kittens when we masterbait.
Hell is a planet?
Hell is a planet?
Here is an example world-type conducive to Janet Reno chemical synthesis.
So, yes?
"...first female..." how many other firsts will women be forced to endure?
Polls open in a little over 13 hours. Who are you voting for?
FTR, I'm undecided about whether I will vote, and if yes, if I'm voting for Johnson (who I'm unhappy with).
No on everything.
Sometimes these propositions are tricky and a yes is really a no, you know?
Yes means no?
This is why I stick to Fleshlights.
You're supposed to rinse it out after each use.
Myth!

Excuse me. There is nothing sticky about Doris Lay and Sophia Morein! You're all on notice .
There is nothing sticky about Doris Lay and Sophia Morein!
You forgot Ann-Moregrunt, Monte Crusto. You're slipping....
You're supposed to rinse it out after each use.
And then wipe it? Like, with a cloth?
"No on everything."
One of the CA props would required moonbeam and any other 'legacy-building' politico to go the the voters to approve the bond issue for her 'legacy' project.
The only Yes vote on my ballot.
(moonbeam put in $4m of hiss own money to defeat it; it'll make me smile if it passes)
Holy delta smelt! That's a good one!

"California currently owes $157 billion in general obligation bond and revenue bond debt. That is more than the current estimate to build the High Speed Rail train to nowhere. Huh. So my strategy is only 98% effective.
I guess I'll go yes on that.
Agree. I voted yes to that, wicked weed legalization and to taking the 10 cents from those cocksucking grocery stores who secretly backed the no plastic bags in order to be able to charge for paper ("the law says we have to!")
Did I mention they are assholes too?
(No disrespect to cocksuckers everywhere, just ones that charge me 10 cents for a paper bag.
Actually those got yes also; can't remember any more. There were no 'screw all the existing politicos' initiatives, or that would have gotten one
Just say No!
I'm voting for a slightly better chance for the LP in four years. Realistically, that's about all I can vote for.
Same.
In the quest for 5%, my vote for Gary cancels out 19 votes for other candidates.
It's almost like voting 20 times.
Me too. I'm probably voting for Johnson just to see if he can get to the magic 5% number.
I haven't yet read the McMullin interview. The only reason to vote for him would be to send a message to the GOP, but that party is a lost cause at this point.
^Bill Weld does not approve this message.
Whom?
One of the (few) perks of living in Canada is that I can ignore the shit tomorrow and have a D&D game instead!
Just gotta remember to ban phones and tablets at the table...
But you have to deal with Prime Minister Zoolander, who's likely worse than Hillary and Trump combined.
Nah, he's been just loudly incompetent so far. Watching him play an adult is really endearing, and our armed forces are ground down sufficiently that he's no threat to anyone outside Canada.
Anything he does, Clinton will do in a bigger, stupider manner. She outsmugs him, too. Whereas Trump outegos him.
Yeh. He's harmless. Annoying but harmless.
So far. God willing.
Which edition?
5th. I really dig it, and my players are having fun. We ported over from 4th, and we do miss more tactical combat every now and then...
Nice. I started with AD&D, and 5e is probably my favorite edition. I skipped right over 4e.
Of course, what I'd really like to play is M&M, or FATE, or True20. But it's hard enough finding people around here willing to play the popular tabletop systems.
I never moved past 2nd. I also haven't played in a long time. I still have all my stuff, collecting dust.
Same here.
Hey, aren't you just down the road from me?
Yes, just outside Nashua.
We may have to form the official HnR Tabletop Gaming and Beer Group.
It will be like herding cats, but could be fun.
If you want a game that's a bit less intense than D&D (what with being adults with lives and not wanting to bog down in a decade long campaign, Zombicide Black Plague. You can also use the pieces from it to help with your D&D campaign. Each game goes from 1-3 hours, rules are straightforward you don't need a formal DM etc.
Big hit with my circle of enginenerd friends.
You can't do that now that I left NH 🙁
5th is deliberate throwback to 2nd, after overcomplicating shit in 3rd, and going in a much more mechanical direction in 4th. It got to the point that I'm not sure if I like it more than 1st.
And I really like 1st, especially if you carefully read the rules in DMG - fact that you aren't supposed to know who has initiative before you declare your actions for the round is a huge balancing factor on spellcasters. The whole game is full of stuff like that - little tweaks that show that these rules come out of long, iterative process of actually playing the game.
I've only heard good things about 5th. What impressed me the most was the old timers who grew up on AD&D/1st Edition who said how much they liked playing and/or running 5th.
I think the popularity of retro-clones, like Basic Fantasy or OSRIC bent 5th back in that direction.
Could be. Also, the backlash on 4th was quite hard (though I like it more than 3.5 or *shudder* Pathfinder, because at least math in it works).
Speaking of clones and my earlier Space Princess reference, I so want to play this. It even has an appendix with Barsoomian creatures, as early John Carter books are public domain in US.
499th Edition Essentials line is my favorite, although I'm really drawn to Moldvay Basic/Expert and the BECMI. They are all available now at the DM's guild under D&D Classics
Niiiice! Just got my 5e books! Been rolling 3rd edition since the beginning of my journey.
Not if Clinton secures the Presidency and orders the annexation of Canada. Have you readied your doomsday bunker?
Got me a sweet spot up in Vault 69.
That was typo. It was supposed to be Vault 68, just like the rest of us.
If 69's inhabited by 999 clones of Hillary Clinton, I'll take 68 any day.
OH FUCK THE SMALL PRINT!
Well, got me a sweet spot perfect for ghouling...
But if you ban tablets how will your players access their Hero Lab character sheets?
I'm voting for Johnson.
I may vote in the House race, since the Democrat is the sort of person who would primary Andrew Cuomo for not being an extreme enough lefty.
I'm voting for my 50 bucks at CamSoda.
*nods aggressively*
I have to work, so I'll work a normal day. Then afterwards, I plan on doing something productive. Lift weights, read, clean some guns, stuff like that. No voting.
I live half a mile from the polling station, so it's an easy stop on the way back home from work. (Work starts before the polls open.) And since there's a three-digit number of registered voters, there won't be much of a line. I usually get through in under 10 minutes.
I voted for GJ for President (this was before Weld turned traitor, but I probably still would have), Paul Stanton for Senate and Joe Kaufman (R) for House (race against DWS). Voted no on Amendment 1 (industry backed anti-solar power amendment that they've lied about) and yes on Amendment 2 (medical marijuana). Left most of the rest of my ballots blank.
You left soil and water blank? Nihilist!
I am actually going to go vote in the morning. The LP has someone running against Tim Scott. I also need to go vote against the woman who wants to be Clerk of Court.
I voted SMOD three weeks ago. My fire company is a polling place, and the monthly meeting is tomorrow night.
Fun times.
I plan to write in Ted Cruz, our secret Canadian Manchurian Candidate.
(We would have gotten away with it too, if not for Trump...CURSE YOU TRUMP!)
Gordie McPherson is on list?
I'm going with Sam Adams.
already voted Johnson via mail.
I'm going full Johnson, tho if Hillary sounds Ohio by one vote I'll have to kill myself.
Gary Johnson.
I'm still in for the 5% hit at this point.
She'll be remembered mostly for the raid on the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas, that led to a slaughter.
She'll mostly be remembered for Waco and Will Farrell's SNL impression.
So we've already forgotten little Elian?
Jurors are now weighing how much in damages to award in theRolling Stone defamation trial connected to the reported frat house rape that didn't actually happen.
And yet Phi Psi is getting none of it.
Their lawsuit comes next. And they're asking for about 3 times as much money as Eramo did.
Good, GOOD...
Think of the kegger they'll have with their winnings!
Watch out that night, ladies!
If they're flush with cash I'm thinking there will be more than a few ladies who will be down for just about anything
They just let you do it.
The US dollar is going to regret it if Hitlery wins
Why would he?? Inflation will ensure he get's like, a million new dollar-friends!!
SIV, I'm still undecided so I want to ask you a closing question. What is your single issue that you are voting on and why? Thanks!
Despite what Reuters tries to spin, I'm thinking the markets and currencies are improving because of the recent Trump surge, not likelihood of Clinton.
If it was likelihood of Clinton, wouldn't that have been factored in long ago?
No no no, you've misunderstood completely. The markets were doing fine because Hillary was a lock. Then the meanies at the FBI came after sweet Hillary and the markets got spooked. Now that Comey has learned his place the markets can rally with confidence. That's the story and I won't hear any different!
That sums up the version I heard this morning quite well, waffles.
It does actually make sense.
Markets don't like instability. Clinton is saying we should keep doing what we're doing. Trump is saying blow everything up.
It's pretty clear which of those things is more predictable in the short-term.
"Despite what Reuters tries to spin, I'm thinking the markets and currencies are improving because of the recent Trump surge, not likelihood of Clinton."
Gonna disagree: Markets do NOT like uncertainly.
Pretty sure no one doubts Clinton is corrupt and wretched, but she is so within a standard deviation, while Trump is a loose cannon.
It's not that the markets favor what Clinton will do (although she's no stranger to the Street crowd), it's just no one has any idea what Trump will do.
The markets started falling the last couple weeks as Trump surged. They rebounded somewhat today as most of the new polls have been fairly positive news for Clinton. I don't think that really fits with your argument.
As Sevo points out, it's not that investors are in love with Clinton or her policies, they just don't know what to expect from Trump, and the uncertainty from that causes a sell off.
He is up to his biggest lead in IDP and the LATimes. Early voting in NC and Florida show him outperforming Romney and polls are now showing NM to be a tie. And the polls for the Senate seem to be still sliding Republican.
Some of the polls have showed her picking up some points but nothing outside the margin of error. So, I wouldn't say the news is all bad for her but it certainly isn't all good.
It's not all great for her, but there's been more good than bad if we just look at today. The two you mention are the only ones that have Trump ahead (and IBD only has him ahead in the 4 way). Even Rasmussen has Clinton +2.
Early vote numbers don't look bad for Trump in NC or Florida, you are correct - but at the same time, party registration doesn't always = vote totals, especially when you account for independents and changes in early vs same day voting habits. Ultimately, Trump has to break through in either a blue-leaning Midwest state, or Colorado, Virginia, or Nevada + NH. He can win Florida and North Carolina, along with Ohio and Iowa, and still fall short. It will be interesting to watch it play out.

A South Dakota highway patrol officer has been charged with stealing seized cash while on the job. He faces up to 10 years in prison.
Ah, of course. That seized cash became the state's property when it was grabbed. A police officer can get away with stealing from a lot of people, but they sure as hell won't get away with stealing from the state.
1) Stealing from individual persons - OK
2) Stealing from The People - NOT OK
The state does it every week though.
Fool. You can only get away with armed robbery if you're stealing money on behalf of the state, not on behalf of yourself.
Bear in mind he's only been charged, that hardly makes him guilty - I suppose he committed legalized theft from citizens, but as to the crime alleged, stealing from The State, the jury is not only still out, it hasn't been empaneled.
A South Dakota highway patrol officer has been charged with stealing seized cash while on the job. He faces up to 10 years in prison.
He will, of course, serve no time.
Eh. He stole from the wrong people. This time.

A South Dakota highway patrol officer has been charged with stealing seized cash while on the job. He faces up to 10 years in prison.
He should have stuck to the victimless crime of abusing citizens. Stealing from the state is a no-no.
Went to the local theater over the weekend to see Doctor Strange (excellent, by the way). One of the pre-film advertisements was for an explicitly politically liberal comedy tour, I don't remember exactly what it was called but it was something like The Progressive Comedy Tour. They did the obligatory shot of several people in quick succession giving half-sentence assurances of how great this show is, and one of them was a guy saying, I shit you not, "It's like the Redneck Comedy Tour, but for smart, moral people."
The sheer amount of smug was so great it nearly knocked me out of my chair.
At any rate, I think I'll be seeing the movie again tomorrow evening, to wash the taste of voting out of my mouth.
Well, at least someone on that side of the isle is admitting to being like a redneck. Freudian slip, I guess.

Sometimes you just have to pull the trigger.
Hillary is going to win tomorrow, and gun owners need to teach as many people as possible to shoot.
Her SCOTUS appointments will imperil the 1st and the 2nd amendments, especially the 2nd.
The mind is the most dangerous weapon of humankind's arsenal. Except for AmSoc, AddictionMyth/Daijal/Palin'sButtplugg, Tony and Tulpa.
I think it would depend on what the certification is for. CHL? Gotta get government permission for that, so check your state's laws regarding conceal carrry.
Do you mean certifications that come from manufacturers, as in becoming an "amorer"? Many will do that (like Glock), but they may only do that for LE. Best to look into their websites and see who offers what.
For just doing private instruction (like CQB/tactical trainers), talk to companies that offer this and see what they recommend.
I'm a Scoutmaster. I paid $150.00 and took the NRA class at the local Boy Scout camp. Most BSA reservations have training a few times a year . Rifle, shotgun or pistol classes were available
That's hardly fair. She killed plenty more people than that.

Swedish prosecutors will be interviewing Wikileaks' Julian Assange on November 14 over the rape allegations against him.
THAT'S TOO LATE FOR THE ELECTION.
I've been pleasantly surprised at the lack of dramatic run up in prices for guns, magazines, ammunition, etc. Do people believe Hillary won't try to push dumbshit gun control laws in office? Are bitter clingers still clinging to hopes that Trumputin will win?
So.... you're not in California?
Nope. Even unfortunate prisoners in that hellhole can use the intertubes to see what it would cost them to buy ammo and mags if they lived in a state that respected the fucking constitution.
Prices can only spike so high, man.
Ya armslist has been pretty tame lately. Same with the gun stores for the most part. However I haven't seen a show in a while
Janet Reno's first leap to national prominence is when she decided not to prosecute two Miami cops for killing a black man in 1980, which led to one of the worst riots of the 1980s (the other coming in the same place in 1989).
Her second leap to national prominence was the Country Walk sex abuse case. Lots of differing opinions on that one, but it was part of the line of satanic panic sex abuse cases. I lived in Country Walk at the time. The house was less than a block away from mine. My best friend and I (I was 8 at the time) watched streams of cops in and out of our neighborhood for days. We thought it was a drug bust.
Then, after Clinton nixed two AG nominees because they didn't pay taxes on their babysitters or something, we sent her off to Washington, where she turned killer.
May she roast in the hottest flames of Hell.
The child abuse cases were total travesties. Reno was a thoroughly depraved and evil woman.
Reno got to Washington partially because of her campaigning against child abuse. She was one of the worst prosecutors in the country on that front. She had a ton of convictions overturned due to the way she prosecuted those cases. People were basically railroaded.
From her wiki page, this is probably the worst of the lot, but there were others like this.
She was just horrible. You shouldn't throw the word "evil" around lightly, but it applied to that woman. She was scary evil.
Damn your nimble fingers JB!
Since I can't edit: Mistake above. In 1980 the officers were acquitted, leading to the riots. In 1989 there was no prosecution.
May she roast in the hottest flames of Hell.
Beelzebub has a devil put aside for her

That women weren't immediately disqualified from being attorney general is proof sexism doesn't exist.
All hail Scott I of House Shackford, King of Alt-Text!
Janet Reno died, and I said to myself, "Shame that didn't happen sooner."
You kidding? What a terrible thing to think.
Now we're deprived of the opportunity to see her burn alive.
Never forget the case that made Janet Reno famous and catapulted her into the short list for Clinton's AG.
The Country Walk Preschool child abuse frame up, where two innocent people were convicted of crimes that never occured due to children being tormented under Janet Reno's directions until they made false allegations.
She's a horrible person well deserving of any torment that one could visit on her.
The man convicted in the Country Walk case is still in prison. His wife, who testified against him (and later moved out of the country) stated that she was threatened and kept naked in solitary confinement to coerce her testimony against her husband.
I'm having trouble imagining the scenario where I testify that my wife is a child molester.
Oh. I bet you could be tortured into it. History is full of people whose will was broken by torture. The scene in 1984 where Winston Smith shrieks "do it to her!" and betrays Judith wasn't some literary invention. It was based on actual history of the Red Terror.
Very few people have the fortitude to stand up to weeks of unrelenting torment, especially if the torment seems like it will be eternal.
Julia, not Judith. But yeah. Everyone going to have their breaking point, and the State will be able to get there if it really wants to.

Late odds show Senate breaking towards Republicans. Is there a single late trend that isn't Republican?
I don't know if Trump is going to win tomorrow, but I can tell you that the proggie's are very uncomfortable.
It's kind of funny to see people posting three somewhat incompatible ideas simultaneously
1) Hillary has already won (because early voting has given her an insurmountable lead)
2) If spoiled people throw their votes away on Jill Stein because they were mislead by Comey's attempt to influence the election, Trump could win! Anyone who doesn't do the grownup thing and vote for Hillary forfeits any right to complain!
3) Hillary is losing because Republicans have suppressed early voting!
One guy keeps posting memes that basically argue that if the Republicans win, the U.S. will fight pointless wars again. Of course his evidence consists of outrages that Hillary was a vocal proponent of.
I'm hoping that Hillary loses. At this point I would prefer even Jill Stein beat her. Just for the schadenfreude. If Trump wins, of course, my wife will have to buy me an ice cream sundae, which would be utterly awesome!
The proggies really deserve a president trump who does the stuff of their worst nightmares.
Yes they do. I said this on the other thread and will say it again here. The question is whther the 2012 electorate is what the Presidential electorate looks like now or is it what electorates look like when Obama is running. If it is the latter, then the LA Times and other polls that show Trump being up are not just right but probably under estimating his lead. If it is the former, then Hillary likely wins.
If only the effects could be contained to them.
I think hillary wins but will be close. Sensing that GOP may retain house and senate (good). I think dems are fucked in 2018 as progs never learn. They think everyone loves them but their failures are due to those kids and their god damn dog. They think everyone else has the issue.

I'm writing in Bernie.

I wrote in Ron Paul instead of Bob Barr.
I've touched on this before, but since this is no longer going to be an issue after tomorrow, I figure this is the last opportunity to ask: what is the idea behind the notion that electing Trump will lead to the end of SJWs? What's actually envisioned in this scenario? Are there official, coordinated crackdowns on SJW behavior? Greater federal control over university policies?
Or is the idea that it will be the final battle in this particular culture war and the lefty horde will be vanquished overnight? Because I don't understand why a Trump presidency wouldn't embolden SJWs, especially if he and his followers call out SJWdom. It makes SJWs the center of anti-establishment sentiment while Trump is in power. Teenagers and young adults who disagree with a Trump action will turn to the SJW narrative by default. "They have some crazy ideas, but they're right about Trump."
There might be improvements in the DoJ, DoE, the removal of some crazy bureaucrats, etc., perhaps leading to a temporary stay in ridiculousness. But otherwise it seems obvious to me that electing Trump would lead to an even louder SJW community, not a defeated one.
No way it happens. SJWs will remain as long as you can get free internet points for saying the right things and being angry at the right people.
IOW, forever.
Yes. The losers of the election will only ramp up their bitchiness. However, I do have hope that in the near future all bitchy, whiny victims will be taken less seriously.

I think you're right. Trump will continue being the SJW's Goldstein.
But if it is not Trump, it will be someone else. They will always have a Goldstein.
I think some Goldsteins will be more useful to the SJWs than others.
Goldstein wasn't president.
Just tell us where the Trump doll that lives under your bed touched you.
I guess Trump will do nothing objectionable as president.
Considering he won't be elected president, you're right. Yet the amount of actual, criminal, RECENT felonious activity, forget over the past 30 years, that can be directly attributed to Shrill-Bot is legion.
Even my FIL, former Russian military bigwig, remarked to me the other day that even he is amazed at how much Shrill-Bot is permitted to get away with. He figures the Clintons have so much dirt on pretty much everyone in DC, that they are untouchable. He said most Soviet premiers and Duma members would have been assassinated before being permitted the sheer scope of corruption afforded to her.
He wryly commented to me, "Your FBI, now? Yes, that is EXACTLY what NKVD/KGB was like. Your country, despite her fake wealth, is more Soviet than you think, son-in-law of mine."
Irrelevant but entertaining.
I think the idea is that by electing a bully to stand up to the SJW bullies there is now legitimacy to the backlash against SJW tactics. It's not that they go away but rather people feel that they won't be ostracized or punished for standing up for themselves. It's muddy. I think many people, including myself, place way too much importance on presidential politics and elections. My day-to-day isn't changing tomorrow.
Half over-emphasis on the role of the President in actually affecting national policy (social justice is a cultural concept that isn't going away because you elected a loud-mouth), half "At least the Presidential administration won't be tolerating or vocally supporting it."
what is the idea behind the notion that electing Trump will lead to the end of SJWs? What's actually envisioned in this scenario? Are there official, coordinated crackdowns on SJW behavior? Greater federal control over university policies?
IT STRENGTHENS THE NON-SJWS AND ALLOWS US TO GO AFTER THEM LIKE THEY CAME AFTER US! TIT FOR TAT!
Have always wondered...the fuck is a tat?
I tawt I saw a putty tat.
Smart people have always known that the trick in life is to let others have the tats and keep the tits for yourself.
70% of the crazies will be going after Trump, rather than video games and bathrooms.
Yes, there'll still be SJWs trying to fuck over every aspect of everyday life, but, just like in Bush years, lots of them will be off anti-Trumping instead.
Other part is, it's like a rolled up newspaper on the nose. They will sill piss on the carpet, but they will be more cautious about it.
What that window with the person's name. Essentially we slowly come to tolerate crazy because our frame of reference for what is normal is shifted closer to it. Trump election resets that window. Hard to argue that we should be using 'hir' and 'shi' to refer to people when normal people see Trump talking on the T.V. as the president.
Overton window
Thank you!
Well I don't know it would happen but Student Loan reform that only paid for degrees with a reasonable chance of landing a job that pays well enough to repay the loan is realistically possible under a Trump administration and would be extremely damaging to the SJW cause.
Bonus points if it refused to pay for (insert adjective) studies classes at all

However, Comey says no reasonable prosecutor would bring charges.
His wife, who testified against him (and later moved out of the country) stated that she was threatened and kept naked in solitary confinement to coerce her testimony against her husband.
That could never happen in America, I say.

I am unfamiliar with that particular line of thought, but presumably, President Trump will (be advised to) give a good hard yank on the chain of the DoEd Title 9 warriors, which would help.
Voting for comrade bernie (writing in)
1. Won't have to vote for either of the other two
2. Am hoping there is enough bernie write ins it pisses off the liberal pundits (especially if trump wins)
Not an endorsement of sanders.
They aren't going to count your vote.
Oh so nevermind. Then Jill stein?
I'll give you the standard advice given around here. Vote for what makes you feel good. Since voting is completely pointless unless it does something for you personally you should just vote in whatever way pleases you most.
Pissing off krugman would please me...though trump would have to win.
Pissing off krugman would please me...though trump would have to win.

Squirrels are always the true winners.
Wink, nod, All-Seeing Nut.
I think the squirrels have just given us their divine recommendation.
We all must vote thrice for Trump.
That is the only interpretation of their holy message.
Lol
A vote for Jill Stein will be counted and could conceivably make Hillary cry.
Voting for Johnson will likely be seen as a nevertrump vote.
Yea this is my thought as well. And am a bit embarrassed by a guy like Weld
I almost wrote in Ron Paul last time. I figured it wouldn't hurt Vermont. I changed my mind last minute, to help the lp.
She'll be remembered mostly for the raid on the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas, that led to a slaughter.
Bill Clinton should have accepted her resignation. I thought what Janet Reno did in the wake of that was honorable, and showed that she at least gave a fuck about how sideways that thing went.
So the best thing you can say about the woman is that she was concerned that her actions had resulted in a bunch of kids burning to death. Talk about damning with faint praise.
Still better than Clinton, who would take the children burning to death as a spiteful gesture aimed directly at her by the right-wing nutcases in the compound.
Our elected officials (and appointed ones *cough*cough*) are so far removed from the people who actually execute policy on the ground, I'm not going throw out the hyperbole that "she killed those kids".
But she IS ultimately responsible, she said as much publicly after it happened, and when Bill Clinton refused her tendered resignation, I thought it was a dark day for the justice department.
Had I been president and appointed my best friend as AG, I would have accepted his resignation because if nothing else, it was politically the right thing to do.
I'm not going to say it would have made any great difference the grand scheme of things-- especially WRT reforms and the militarization of police, but it would have at least provided some sense that someone at the top recognized that what happened at Waco was a national tragedy.
CRy me a fucking river. She wasn't a slave, she wasn't in the military. What was Clinton going to do? Court martial her for AWOL? She stayed on the job because she wanted to. She didn't take responsibility for anything. She participated in a dog and pony show.
And she was not so far removed. She is the one that ordered the assault. No one made her do that. And no amount of "but the guys on the ground fucked it up" relives her of the culpability for doing that. And you seem to forget after the whole thing went south, she got up and lied and claimed the reason she ordered it was because the Davidians were molesting the kids and that gave her no choice.
You are mistaken in thinking there was anything admirable or defensible about her conduct.
Not only were the Davidians molesting their own children but the Government employees at the scene we tired.
They had been there for almost a month and hadn't seen their children for that entire time.
"I thought it was a dark day for the justice department"
Haha! Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch were pretty dark.
Not good enough, seppuku or bust!
Trumpalogia, Trumpagnosia, Trumpmania, or Trumpoplexy? Take your pick. We also have a dual diagnosis unit. What will it cost, you ask? LOL now don't worry your little head. It will all be covered under Hillarycare. Now, come with us please.

So I was banned from another right wing website today. It is funny. You guys all think I am some kind of Republican shill, yet I get kicked out of Republican boards quicker than Democratic ones.
They couldn't handle take your comment about Reno's dick?
No. I can't suffer morons even if I agree with them. And sadly, conservatives are just as likely to be thin skinned morons as Progs.
What'd you get banned for?
He accidentally mentioned the war.... in Yemen
I told a guy he was kidding himself if he thinks that by opting out of the election he is somehow relieved of the moral consequences of the result. History doesn't work that way. If something happens and you watch it happen and do nothing to stop it, then you bear some moral responsibility for that choice. Not as much as the people doing it, but some and anyone who didn't understand that is guilty of moral cowardice.
That didn't go over well.
I think you are wrong, since an individual's vote has an imperceptible impact on the election.
But they were weak to ban you instead of permitting you guys to argue it out.
Imperceptible is different than nothing. And I didn't say he bore a lot of moral responsibility just some.
I don't understand, why didn't he just call you a cunt and then threaten to put you through a woodchipper? These forum foreigners and their 'bans' are a strange cultural practice.
John,
I would have been fine with that. Is there anything more pathetic than a tattle tale? And of course, it didn't just bust out with that. It was in response to an unbelievably smug and insulting post of his.

No one has a moral duty to vote, which is what you imply.
Oh no - right when your skillz are needed the most! If Trump loses it's all your fault!
How do the progs rationalize a guy like tom steyer?
Billionaire who influences politics to steer tax payer monday to things he is invested in. But he is so dreamy....
Is this guy a watermelon or just a crook? I think the latter seeing how he made his fortune in coal.
They completely ignore the fact that he out spends the evil Koch brothers by many times. And then they get back to screaming, "keep money out of politics!!!"
They don't. Being a prog is about feels, not logic. Gore's money isn't exactly environmentally friendly, but he came out and said the right things, plus he has a D by his name, which magically makes him acceptable.
Still leaning towards writing in the name of the grey-haired lady at the coffee shop. But I think Iowa requires a VP write-in from another state. You must fill in both Pres and Vice Pres on the write-in slot.

Thanks for the heads up, Scott.
groooooaaaaan
Whatever comes tomorrow, the next four years are going to be an absolute shitshow. And that's even if you ignore the actual policies or positions of the candidates.
Trump gets elected and half of the United States is going to spend the next four years freaking out about what a degenerate and horrible nation they're become, because nationalism/xenophobia/racism/whatever else they can come up with.
Clinton gets elected and half of the United States is going to spend the next four years freaking out about what a dengerate and horrible nation they're become, because corruption and the end of the illusionary rule of law.
Regardless of who takes over, I think America is starting to permanently split into separate tribes, and the political class is actively egging that on. This won't end well.
Fuck it, civil war it is then.
I'm rioting with the Trumpkins. Might be our last chance before Hillary sics her police state goons on us.

If the army goes full partisan the Republicans have the advantage. And unlike 1917 it may be unlikely that the social justice crowd will turn into a new Red Army to fight the Whites.
SJWs can't even fire a AR-15 without getting PTSD. Does anyone honestly think they'd be on the front lines kicking in Billy Bob and Jethro's door? They'll be demanding those racist, sexist police forces do the job for them.

About an hour ago, in midtown Manhattan, a guy was on a street corner yelling at people to not vote for Trump.
NY might have gone red, if not for this guy's effort.
Give that man a twitter account, stat! He will save us all from potential doom.
Groovus,
Do you have a good Borscht recipe you'd be willing to share sir? I want to try it out but the netz has too many different variations on it and I've never even tasted it before.
BORSCHT IS FOR CLOSERS!
This is what my Teshha Groovova (Mother-in-Law of Groovus) prepares, almost exactly. The only difference in her recipe is her recipe calls for deer venison instead of pork sausage and she caramelises the onions first in her recipe.
However much sour cream you think you need, add more. Same with pepper. She also occasionally adds turnips for flair.
My mother (Armenian) always hated smetana in borsh, and so did all of her ethnically Armenian family, but it was a common dish. Every Ukrainian I've dined with (Zaporozhye, which, I understand, isn't where you live) insisted on smetana as an absolute necessity for it, though.
got one for solyanka?
Are liberals either dumb or lack awareness
They fret over Hillary barely mentioning climate change as they continue to insist that most of the country wants carbon taxes and massive investment in wind and solar, getting rid of coal plants.
Amazing how when the dollar rose over a hundred times during trading sessions over the previous ~9 months that no one seemed to know *exactly* why that was.
But today, its because Hillary, and nothing else. Because people in the press were told that by someone. Very sharp people.
Sometimes the media just comes up with these ideas by their selves. No masters needed, the hacks have been trained well.

By "Talking point", you mean to suggest that its somehow irrational or a purely-political claim?
Consider that it took the FBI about a year to comb through the previous dump of equal size. And that nothing has actually been disclosed about what sort of review they even conducted at all. last i heard, there had only even been warrants granted to begin looking at the content of those emails about a week ago. Which suggests that the DC FBI made their call from nothing but the metadata.
Which is exactly what snowden suggests
the issue i think that raises questions is if there were ANY communications which the FBI had previously never seen, the question would be why any of those documents - regardless of whether they contained classified info or not - were never handed over in the first place.
"Hash both sets" strongly -- almost certainly -- implies hashing the bodies (i.e., content) of the messages.
"Consider that it took the FBI about a year to comb through the previous dump of equal size"
Look I'm about as anti-FBI as you can GET on this issue.
But if you've ALREADY combed through one set of emails, you can search OFF of those emails to identify which emails in your NEW set are identical to the emails you've already gone through. You need a HUMAN to read through the NEW emails, of course, but a COMPUTER can run through ALL the emails, rather quickly, and tell you which have already been combed through the last time.
You don't even purely need the metadata, a computer can comb through the entire email's contents, read them, and compare them against all known emails in a flash. It's ridiculously simplistic data mining.
You don't seem to understand my point.
the question is, if they were able to run that scan of a cache of email, then they should have immediately determined if there was anything new.
If there was anything new, they should have been able to say so. If they did find anything new, they'd be obligated to provide an assessment of those new documents.
But they don't actually say that's what happened. They don't even acknowledge whether there was anything new.
If there were any new docs... even sans any classified intel, there would be a host of questions that would need to be resolved about 'why these were omitted' prior to determining that there is absolutely nothing which was relevant to the prior investigation.
They just skip all that, and claim that there's been a 100% write-off of the material. Given the degree of scrutiny that had to be applied to previous disclosures, it doesn't really follow.
I don't think they'll ever actually acknowledge what they did between now and when the DC FBI office got access. I don't think it matters really, in the end. I've made comments previously pointing out that there was never going to be any status-change in the "server" investigation. But declaring that they managed to conduct all their necessary due-diligence in such a compressed time frame is simply implausible sans any more-detailed disclosure about what they actually did.
this
is what i already said, minus the pointless capitalization.

A couple of days ago, the NYT ran a story about a "militia group" somewhere down south. The crazy motherfuckers are all paranoid about how Hillary is going to take away their guns and force them to drink straight out of the Coloreds Only drinking fountains.
If they ran a story about the Hillary voters who think everybody who makes more than a million dollars per annum wil be exempt from the income tax, all the (pretty) womynz will be rounded up and taken away to rape camps, and all the Mohammedans will be rounded up and gassed, I missed it.

Hold on, hold on - we now have Hillary as the winner. It's Hillary. Hillary is the new president!

Well I just had a discussion with someone about how government debt apparently doesn't matter. We can just get free money. According to him treasury bonds are free money, despite the interest rate they pay. Then he started yelling about GDP and Japan when I brought up the interest payments we're already paying on the debt.
T'was fun.
"We can just get free money."
In which case, why is the government taking mine?

It's good to be back. I did need the break tho.
Fun item from the heartland. I just got home from the grocery store and people are buying up food and water like there is a snowstorm tomorrow rather than an election.
It's weird to see blank spaces on shelves.

Where is the heartland? Are other states planning for the revolution?

I kind if feel that way. Like there are going to be riots or something.
I am glad that Reno is now in Hell, where she belongs.
No. Too soon. She should have suffered longer. Much longer. And had her legacy further ruined. In a way she could understand and be embarrassed.

Alzheimer's and Debilitating Dementia is no walk in the park, and most cases have lots of pain associated with it. Specifically, pain sensitivity (irritability associated with pressure in particular) goes through the roof, coupled with those with Alzheimer's/DD can't verbalise their pain, so's they are quite possibly trapped in an unrelentingly pain stricken body.
If you ever want to know what that feels like, look me up.
I've had it for five years now.

Thanks, Groovus. You raised my spirits immensely.
