Nick Gillespie on Stossel Tonight at 9 PM, Talking "Sin Taxes," Marijuana Legalization, and More
Have you heard about California's initiative that would require condoms in all porn movies?
I'll be on John Stossel's eponymous Fox Business show tonight, discussing various attempts to raise sin taxes and legalize marijuana next Tuesday. And of course we'll chat about California's monstrously stupid Prop. 60, which mandates the wearing of condoms in all porn movies filmed in the Golden State.
Click below to watch a preview and go here for more info on Stossel.

No talk of the impending Trump landslide victory?
Gary Johnson in surprise victory!
It's too close to even call. But sure, some people are talking about that. Also, some people talking about the Hillary landslide. Also, bigfoot.
Prop 60 is a conspiracy by the Russian Government to destroy the American porn industry and move all production to their satellite countries.
The FBI is hiding all the details about it, but oh, they know.
Is there nothing the Trumputin cannot do?
Win the whitehouse?
No, I think that is entirely possible.
Also, what is possible, is that on one gets to 270 and this entire thing blows the fuck up. Yeehaw!
We must have sin taxes, otherwise people will just do whatever they want to, with no punishment at all.
And for free!
I have to say this.
I'm not fond of the Progs and the SJWs; I suspect they don't care much for the likes of me either. But it's important, in the exchange of free ideas in this nation of ours, to do what we can to see those ideas take fruit. We don't take up arms to win the day here; we cast votes. So to those on the left side of the national divide I urge you: On November 8th, take just a moment out of your day. In the morning, during lunch hour, or on your way home - stop by your nearest RedBox and let your voice be heard.
While you're there, don't forget to pick up your copy of Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates - it's a real knee-slapper!
NEW THREAD!
SAME AS THE OLD THREAD!
Pete Townshend slide, twirls mic like Daltry.
Don't thread on me.
LEAVE HILLARY ALONE!
Ok, either that's parody or it's time someone considered some HRT therapy, and maybe a psychiatrist appt also.
Hillary Rodham Trump therapy?
Is that when Bill grabs you by the pussy?
Meegan?
Hillary should get that out there right now as a new campaign ad. She even has Hillary's signature finger pointing down. After this ad ensures Hillary's election, she can lock the poor girl in her dungeon below the Whitehouse and use her for a source of her daily collagen shots.
Don't be sorry, Crusty Juggler, be better.
That looks like parody and it's fantastic.
If not, very disturbing.
Which means it's awesome!
With some of the real videos I've seen from college campus snowflakes over the last several months, it's difficult to make the call on authenticity or parody. Life really is now stranger than fiction.
Its a parody of the original, she even sort of, kind of, looks like the original guy.
I happened upon this video. Maybe it's the alcohol and my mother's tarralucci cookies (http://bit.ly/2ea0T9n) but it reminded me on our drives to Florida to visit my aunt and crazy uncle (may he RIP). It almost brought a tear to my eye:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fpp5S7qcGmw
Also. Rita Coolidge is hot.
http://bit.ly/2ea0T9n
And speaking of people who died (and couldn't attend their funerals. /waves fist in the air in anger to the gods):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QPNqojbyIDk
Also, misspelled 'tarrallucci'.
Oooo-kay. Moving along.
Not usually my thing, but I bookmarked that recipe.
A cop I deal with occasionally at work once told me a story, one of the worst things he saw on the job.
He was patrolling downtown and came upon a homeless couple, a man and a woman, having sex in a very small, very public park. When he, um, split them apart, he realized they were using a plastic grocery sack as a condom.
To this day my sister-in-law refers to all plastic grocery sacks as "bum condoms."
I'm confused as a joke or did she discover it's actually useful? Just. Checking.
Asking for a friend, Rufus?
/peaks head over lap top. Lowers head. Types.
Er, yes.
(Gilmore at the supermarket = "No, I said Paper this time. It will always be paper from now on. Always")
I troll by asking for extra primo good plastic.
Paper bags are a scourge on humanity, and those who insist we use them should be put in a catapult and hurled into a swamp full of poisonous snakes.
Plastic is illegal up my way. Because global warming.
Don't you mean littered oceans?
http://www.newsweek.com/battle.....-tax-88325
You know what's going to solve global warming? The sun is getting quiet and we're going to enter a new global cooling period. Problem.fucking.solved.
Naw. They say the problem is extra carbon in the atmosphere. When self replicating nano tech becomes mature in 30 years, the little nanobots will need carbon to replicate. Soon, there will not be enough carbon in the environment for our new toys, and the government will quickly demand carbon polluters to increase their carbon emissions.
People and party of science right there.

Where the fuck do you live? I'm in commie Maryland and every store has plastic bags. Except Wholefoods and at least they put handles on theirs. And I rarely shop there anyway.
Top two primary land.
Ours all use plastic bags. I asked for paper a while back because I needed paper bags for something and bagger had trouble figuring out how to use them. It would have been funny if it didn't take him so long.
California is about to ban plastic bags statewide..
"California is about to ban plastic bags statewide.."
Feelz not results:
My (yes "paper") news paper arrives in a plastic bag every morning (well, when the guy gets out of bed).
I can go to the grocery and buy "sandwich", "quart" and "gallon" ziplock bags which I do on a regular basis.
My company packs our products in plastic bags to keep the products clean during shipping.

While I also question what metric we are attempting to move by "banning" "plastic" "bags" ...
I don't know the point you're trying to make with that link. It says that there is in fact a garbage patch, but that it's more like an "area of the ocean where there is a high concentration of suspended plastic particles" than a "garbage patch."
For the purposes of bio-accumulation and stuff, that seems worse to me, not better. What point are you making? That it's NBD? Because the link you've provided seems to think that it's a BD... ?
"Because the link you've provided seems to think that it's a BD."
It is a BD to those who are funded to presume it is.
Do you have data which shows it is?
I'm not an aquatic biologist, but it seems plausible on its face that sea creatures would accidentally eat plastic, and that it probably wouldn't be great for them. Do you have some evidence that it's neutral or good for them?
Would you eat plastic slurry? Why or why not?
They banned plastic at my local store. But even before that, the paper bags were superior. They have handles and everything.
I do like plastic bags for cat shit. I'd just have to buy something to put cat shit in otherwise.
What store was using plastic bags without handles? And uhh, those paper handles gargle my balls. Pro tip: carry your groceries from the bottom or they'll tear out the bottom and land all over the sidewalk.
Plastic bags still had handles. The paper bags are quite sturdy. Only one instance of a paper bag breaking due to overloading by the, um, special needs person who was bagging that day.
SIV does the best he can, OK?

Why would homeless folks even care? If you're the guy, it's not like you can be sued for child support. I mean, what are they going to do to you, give you free shelter and food? If you're the woman, you get free shit from the state once the baby pops out.
Disease. Would you stick your wee wee in a dirty homeless lady's woo hoo all barebacked and stuff?
Who could fit into a milky way wrapper?

You're just sore because I outed your sister-in-law likes plastic bags in the butt.
"Who could fit into a milky way wrapper?"
You mean the ironically named "fun size" Milky Way?
Yeah, "fun size" isn't really fun if that's the wrapper.

The election is already in reruns. Soon Afros and sideburns will be making a comeback.
I live in Cal and have to deal with the no plastic bag thing (unless you pay), however if I'm just picking up a few things I grab a couple of produce bags and use those.
Well, this went into the wrong place.

California's monstrously stupid Prop. 60, which mandates the wearing of condoms in all porn movies filmed in the Golden State
Somebody's got a latex fetish.
Bring your porn stars to Columbus.
I hear they're coming now.
I'm sure there's building owners in Nevada right now who are checking to see how much power it takes to run the lights, and what it costs to have that service hooked up.
Remember kids, if you pay someone to have sex with you and film it, it's art. If you don't film it, it's prostitution.
"Sin taxes" - Stossel gonna explain why sinful things get taxed higher than needful things despite the Equal Protection clause?
God, I didn't realize what a progressive babble-brain John Rawls is/was.
He's the source of 'you didn't build that'.
Theory of Justice has been on my Amazon list for a while. I like to read the classic derp to gain an insight into it's modern forms.
Had to read Rawls' "Theory of Justice" in school. What a monstrously evil man. An equal society is a better society even if the members of that society prefer the inequality? A society where everybody makes $10,000 a year is objectively better than one where 90% of the people make $20,000 per year and 10% make $100,000? And he's the one qualified to decide what's "just". FOAD. What's just is what's mutually agreed upon.
Mutual agreement has fuck all to do with just. "Just" is a man (or woman, or any pretend category in-between) reaping what he sows.
Hmmmm...perhaps we'll just have to agree to disagree on whether or not mutual agreement has anything to do justice. Does that seem mutually agreeable to you, does that seem just? Or do you think it's acceptable for one of us to impose our opinion on the other with regards to what constitutes "just"? Because, you know, I just called John Rawls monstously evil for feeling he was qualified to impose his definition of "just" on everybody else whether they found it mutually agreeable or not.
Mutually agreed upon is fair. Just is a different animal.
He says in that book even nuclear war is preferable to inequality. No kidding
I'm also sure in Political Liberalism he says that launching nuclear weapons is a political decision but not a moral one. Even the hardcore progressives I knew in university went "what?!?" at that.
I don't know his argument, but I'd sure wish 'launching nuclear weapons' were not considered as functionally different from, oh, 'raping Nanking', or the "General Government", or 'Firebombing Tokyo' or several other similar WWII massacres.
If you're going to dispute one, please tell us how it is different from the others.
He's a vile of ignorance.
VERY nice.
I've never read it before; I'd like to believe I coined "a quarrel of Starlings".
What's that a reference to? (I'm a little hungover)
A "vile of ignorance"!
Damn, take credit! Good mistakes are every bit as valuable and planned success.
No, I meant where did the "quarrel" come from?
I just thought "a quarrel of Starlings" was a coinage of some value; "a murder of crows", etc.
Hannibal Lector 5: Five-uh Beans and Chianti
So, a mix of quorum and barrel?
Nope.
Starlings don't need a "mix"; when they get together hey are a "quarrel".
He'll never find, as long as he lives....

I'm guessing this has been posted but pretty funny video about voter id laws. Liberals say racist shit and black people respond.
http://hotair.com/archives/201.....ck-voters/
So what's the weather gonna be like Tuesday? I saw a piece about the possibility of rain suppressing the urban vote. Are they really suggesting that people who live in cities are so uninspired and lazy that a little rain will keep them from getting out and voting? And why did the nice TV lady suggest that this is more of a concern for the Democrats than the Republicans? Does she think Republican voters are more inspired or less lazy than Democrats? Or are urban voters more likely to be Democrats? Maybe Trump is controlling the weather? Who knows? She really didn't explain. It's a puzzle.
Black people don't go out in the rain.
She probably assumes Republicans will drive their Mercedes to the voting precincts and dash inside wearing their $899 Burberry trench coats, while the Democrats have to take buses and use plastic bags for raincoats.
Yes.
No.

The Chron pays this guy to be a "columnist" and the diatribe is included in the "Election 2016" window:
"This is not a matter of opinion. It is not a matter of which party's sociopolitical agenda you "believe" to be fair and true, and which you think is unsustainable and damaging ? a bit of education reform here, America's role in the U.N. there, your well-informed take on taxation and global economics, health care for the poor and the impact of environmental conservation.
If you're voting for Trump, you care as much for those notions as a fish cares about lasagna ? which is to say: absolute [soc] zero, and aggressively so."

I haven't bothered to read his crap in years; the hyperbole caught my eye here. I have not doubt he is serious, and I'm sure he'd round up Trump-voters at gun-point and put 'em in jail.
He also claims to be a writer and can't seem to separate adverb from adjective.

Trump's exhortation in this ad is almost as good as the speech president Whitmore gave to the brave pilots who saved our asses from the alien invasion of 1996.
I mean it.
He ripped off this fan made ad that is way better.
You have to admit, his fanmade content is amazing. We'll find out on Tuesday if meme magic is real.
Wait, the election is Tuesday? I haven't even voted the first time yet.
Someone with team Trump's ability to persuade, as Scott Adams points out, and a pro liberty message is my dream candidate. McAfee was the closest we got this time around.
I think McAfee would have burned out. Though his burnout would have been spectacular it wouldn't have been more than a sideshow. Johnson, while earnest, got sidelined hard and fast. I doubt McAfee had the will to endure it.
How much energy would the LP candidate have needed to expend? Just not being Hillary or Donald was a yuuge advantage. GJ wanted to get in the spotlight and then bungled it almost every time. Strafing runs would've been effective in this war, if I do say so myself.
McAfee would have been fun, there's no doubt. But, the boy be cra cra, NTTAWWT.
So?
I fail to see that as a disqualifier.
Agree 100%
If the LP went with MacAfee I would have cut him a nice check, voted for him in the general and shilled like Hell for him all over the 'net and in meatspace.
While my main reason for supporting Trump (primary vote in a state he was sure to win, shilling here and elsewhere) was based solely on "what upsets all my enemies the most". I think there is the potential for some pro-liberty actions and education there. I have low expectations but a 20+ year history of anti-interventionism and anti-drug prohibitionism is nothing to sneeze at.
The LP tried to be pragmatic but failed to see who their potential support would come from. Going for the left libertarian vote was futile given they aren't getting much more support and have chased away any yokels that were taking their first look at the LP. Yokels are icky, blah, blah, but their vote counts the same as everyone else's.
It was the crazy drunk kamikaze who discovered how to bring those sons-a-bitches down. The other pilots only shot down a few fighters and inflicted minor damage on the ship.
And of course that only worked because Jeff Goblum used his magic Apple to knock out the shields with a computer virus. And if he can do that, why not just make different computer virus that disables their weapons, engines, and life support? There would be no need to shoot them down as they would just helplessly crash.
Mars Attacks had a more plausible ending.

One nation, under no god: Atheists, more than any religion, have been excluded from the election
Religious affiliation remains a litmus test, and the idea of an atheist in office gets religious zealots up in arms
"Religion is one of the many tools used to control people and scare them into submission. Perhaps that's one reason government officials have been so eager to protect its place in politics. However, we now live in a country where a large segment of the population does not follow any religion, and very much want to keep religion out of their lives. The fact we have no leaders in the federal government who personally hold these views is a travesty. You cannot claim to be a representative democracy when you only represent part of the voting population."

You can read the details. Assuming they are true, the guy is a total scumbag.
But my questions regard the headline.
Yes, he's a student at USF; but how is that relevant? Nothing in the article suggests matriculating at USF has anything at all to do with his fetish.
And then 'had in dorm room'? Assuming some were on his mobile devices, you could as easily claim he 'had them on a Muni bus'.
USF is a Jesuit school, but not about to refuse any and all who will pay tuition (no, I'm not an alum, but an atheist friend teaches there), and it has a history of, oh, putting good hoops teams on the floor. WIH did a Chron headline writer chose those words?
I've served as an elected District Attorney in Conservative Texas. Every DA is on a limited budget. We have to make choices. I believe in strict punishment for violent offenders and burglars. I'd rather they checked on sex offenders.]
