Wikileas claims internet access for Julian Assange was severed by a "state party."
Seems like something they would have tried a while ago.
He failed to pay the bill to the Ecuadorians, so they unplugged him from their network.
Or just changed the wifi password.
"Fuck you, weird blond guy."
"Mr. Assange, please stop streaming so much midget porn!"
It's those pesky Russians.
Not sure who looks more like a Bond villain in this scenario.
It's safe to assume the guy who can't log onto the local network isn't the evil mastermind.
It's those pesky Russians Democrats
Hello.
How-dee
Wikileas claims internet access for Julian Assange was severed by a "state party."
Unplug "state party", wait 10 seconds, plug back in.
"State party" refers to the official Ecuadorian mixer. "Unplugged" refers to drunk receptionist Consuela tripping over the Ethernet cable as Julian flashed her his "I never had to rape anyone" smile.
Donald Trump says the election is being rigged, by the media and at polling places.
But mostly by his mouth.
The 'Upper Hole' is the scientific term.
Face pussy.
"I just grab them by the face pussy" has a certain ring to it.

Obama administration asks CIA to prepare revenge cyber attack against Russia
Must not discuss actual content of emails. SHOOT THE MESSENGER.
It seems to me that it would be difficult at best to embarrass the Russians.
One of the many material shortages Russia has experienced since the fall of communism is fucks to give, not that Russia ever had a large supply anyway.
One need only visit liveleak to confirm that.
Fucks to give appear to be particularly scarce in winter.
Don't worry, he asked the CIA to do. They could fuck up a one car parade.
Hey, the CIA is great, remember when they warned us about

With all that early notification of events we were well prepaired

The wondrous efficaciousness of enhanced interrogation at Abu Graib and black sites worldwide, not only to obtain essential intelligence from the enemy but also to build the support of American allies
The CIA has no golden age. I'm sure that it accomplished some successes, but it has served an essential role in the US government's dismal history of failure in global intervention.
Wouldn't such an attack come from NSA rather than CIA?
And why the fuck would you publicly announce it?
Because you are a dumb ass.
That's why they won't see it coming. Genius!
Dude, the NSA doesn't take positive action against foreign adversaries, that's not in their charter. Just like they don't listen to Americans or assist domestic criminal investigations.
They are too busy reading our E-Mails.
Who has Putin's emails? Anyone else think it is odd that the most powerful, most tech savvy nation in the history of the world is having their dirty laundry aired on a daily basis while the world's tin pots are never heard from? Another black eye thanks to the Democratic party.
The Ruskies lost the cold war for a reason. Now we have the same caliber of people running things here.
Putin doesn't use e-mails. That's a fool's technology.
Russia tells emails what to do.
Emails send YOU!
Indeed. Tattooing the heads of slaves is the way to go.
Putin is with it, unlike our leaders. He only uses Instagram. It is the best platform for spreading his message of topless Russians named Vladimir.
Maybe the Russians are smart enough not to put their every thought on the internet like a 14 year old girl.
I bet they are smart enough not to use a server set up ins some honcho's bathroom closet when they want to hide the nefarious and illegal activities they would otherwise be compelled to deliver when someone files a FOIA request, or something....
A while back I read that the FSB doesn't use email, they actually use old fashioned typewriters and couriers.
See Lee Genes post above, short of finding proof that Putin was in his free time a hardcore gay submissive you would be hard pressed to come up with any emails that would actually embarrass either Russia or Putin, the same emails that are devastating for a US politician would only serve to strengthen Putin because the only reason the emails are damaging is because they shatter the illusion that we are not a tin pot dictatorship as well.
the same emails that are devastating for a US politician
I disagree with your premise. there is a myriad of hillary emails that should be but in fact are not devastating to a US politician.
I bet you if these emails had a non-democrat politician on the other end they would definitely be devastating...
It's not "America" getting hacked. It's Democrats.
I couldn't get my head around how clueless Hillary claims to be, and then I started helping my MIL with her computer.
Eegads.
We can't seriously be thinking of electing a guy like that, so thin-skinned he'll lash out at anybody he perceives to be dissing him. He's cool with just casually ordering the machinery of government to go after the Russians no matter how provocative such an act might be? What a dope. No wonder Hillary's steadily polling well ahead of him, nobody can be as fat-headed as that loud-mouthed clown. (I'm assuming that "Obama" was a typo, surely you really meant "Trump", right?)
Personality disorder?
I know I'm late to the party, but if President Obama is telling this to the American media, it's for an American audience. There is probably not going to be an attack. It's political (maybe to get the Dem base riled up for the coronation of Madame Felony).
"operating cyber doors"?
Could journalists sound any stupider?
The White House is considering launching an unprecedented cyber attack against Russia in retaliation for their alleged interference in the US election, intelligence officials say.
"Trump's a crank for claiming the election is rigged!"

How to Protect Your Political Signage
police responded to an Andover, Mass., man's house after he taped an ominous-looking black box to a handmade Trump sign in front of his house with the words "Booby Trap" and "Danger" on the side. Police called off the bomb squad when they heard his explanation
and let him keep the "booby trap" on his sign, right? RIGHT?!
Sign now says:
Booby trap. Insert boob here.
A local Republican headquarters in North Carolina was firebombed.
Literally? Or figuratively, by the Trump candidacy? Like the rest of the GOP.
They have to literally use Nazi tactics against Trump supporters, because Trump is literally Hitler.
I guess all those progressives insisting that Trump inspires violence were correct...
They were technically correct, which is the best kind of correct.
I had some dumbshit on Derpbook yesterday claim that Trump supporters all needed to be "shamed into silence." When I asked him if he'd actually thought about the end game of marginalizing millions of people and the potential consequences of feeling as if they had nothing to lose, his pithy, superficial response was, "Well, time and history have a way of working that out."
The walking embodiment of Dunning-Kruger syndrome in action, right there.
Trumpsters have the guns... Morans.
his pithy, superficial response was, "Well, time and history have a way of working that out."
"Yeah, that's kinda my point. You might want to read a little history and ask yourself why your so confident it will work out well for you."
That was pretty much my response.
+1 Reichstag fire.

Dear Well-Meaning Men
Why do you keep visiting that well?
Derp springs eternal
Don't stick your dick in crazy.
From what I see there, it is not even safe to stand next to crazy.
Don't walk into a room that has crazy in it!
Teach women not to crazy.
Also, don't stick your dick in crazy bread.
You know, I hate to say it, but maybe some women just need to be the property of a protective male figure at all times.
Certainly for some, it seems like the only way they can cope with the world.
Gee, I wonder why they're afraid of men.
Steeping themselves in the patriarchy mythos is terribly warping.
What's your solution to her problem? Men are, in her own analysis, inherently dangerous and capable of overpowering a woman. It seems like having a protective male around at all times or being shut up in walled garden are the only two solutions.
I would say she wants the men shut up in "walled gardens"/ camps.
Why should we punish the men who are walking around in the real world when the men in her head are the only threat?
we know that even the men that we love, never mind random men who we don't know, have the potential to be dangerous.
Men can be beasts ....
Miserable life. They got that right.
You forgot the best part:
"Love always,
Aaminah and Melissa"
No thought as to how women can ruin the life of any man just by a mere accusation, with her words alone, even if totally unsuppported by evidence and completely false? So maybe men have plenty to fear from women?
In an identity politics world, it's fear all the way down.
Never mind the laws being stacked against men in divorce/custody battles.
Luckily up here it's a little harder for women to pull the shit I see in the USA.
Sure, but... Canada.
"...a world divided into the oppressed and the oppressors..."
"This is the lens through which we see everything. And we cant fuckin' shut up about it."
Seriously, who could tolerate the company of these tiresome idiots for more than a few minutes without stabbing themselves in the eye?
My guess is no one, which would explain why they seemingly have no idea how normal, everyday male-female interactions work
Cats.
Lots of cats.
I know when I enter a space full of women I don't know, I'm always considerate enough to make sure I open-carry so that they know I'm armed with a rape weapon but mean them no harm as concealed-carry might tend to make them suspicious. And yet somehow I still get accused of indecent exposure. Look, ladies, you can't have it both ways. Either I'm upfront about the fact that I have a dick or I'm not.
Good christ, I'll never see "open carry" the same way again.

I think for open carry to be effective, the weapon has to be visible.

As a man I am significantly more likely to become the target of violence of another man i perform a threat assessment on every man I meet and do not find it stressful in the least because 99.999% of the time it takes me less than half a second to assess them as "Not currently a danger worth worrying about"
Maybe it is so stressful for her because she lives in the fantasy land of Mordor and she thinks the men she encounters are really orcs?
I'm thinking you are probably right. Sounds like another person projecting her own anxieties and stress onto the rest of reality.
absolutely necessary to our survival
It is not.
We don't want to fear or distrust men
Then don't do it. You have agency.
I thought that progs didn't believe in stereotypes, profiling, etc. Color me surprised!
Well, strictly speaking, what she says is mostly true. Every man does carry with him the potential to do violence. Of course every woman does too.
LOL I've noticed that the more true a stereotype is the more they hate it.
I just can't help but laugh at people who are constantly squealing about how horrible it is to be "judgemental". We all make judgements, all the time, based on very little information. It's a basic survival mechanism of our species. The people who complain about it do always seem to have exceptions; "...my judgements are okay!
Because oppression and punching up! It's just yours that suck!"
They insist on stereotypes. That's part and parcel of the whole cultural appropriation thing, why they don't want people to assimilate, they don't want Cuba to change, why you can't be republican if your a minority, etc.
I thought Mr. Colt did something to even out that situation.

Bush is still to blame.
Of course, now and forever. Unless there is another Republican president at some future point, then he will be to blame for all that is bad in the world.
There was a "mission shift" under Clinton.
Nope, 1993.
The president of the Philippines says he's open to the country participating in war games with Russia and China.
Read the fine print. It's drug war games.
The US government criticizes this goofball for his unconventional drug war that seems to be targeting drug dealers and criminal drug users pretty effectively. I favor legalization, but at least his unconventional approach to reducing the harm of narcotics seems to work, which distinguishes it from the US war on drugs.
I'm sure that the Philippines' approach has caused collateral damage. But the US approach has had collateral damage, too: the world's highest incarceration rate, the diminution of everybody's civil liberties, militarization of the police, etc., as well as shooting down missionary families in South America.
his unconventional approach to reducing the harm of narcotics seems to work
Is there evidence to support that?
Dead people don't have drug problems?
Advocate writer pulls a "No true Scotman" on Peter Thiel; commentariat massively calls bullshit.
For years, I've proposed to progs I've encountered that assuming a person believes a certain way because of some demographic is - as they like to put it - "problematic." Of course, leave it to these idiots to view it as a legitimate idea and not a rhetorical device to maybe increase some degree of self awareness. Life imitates art. Peak derp draws near.
Peak derp draws near.
There's no such thing as Peak Derp. Derp is the only truly infinite resource in the universe. If only there was some way to harness it.
That's the truth. No matter how bad it gets things can always get stupider.
Derp begets derp.
And a little non sequiter too... yummy...
Or it's just a statement of fact given that he had sex with men.
Are any of those allegations about Mateen being gay actually proven? I seem to recall that there really wasn't much in the way of supporting evidence, IIRC.
He was a regular at the club, was picking up guys on gay-dating apps and a couple of guys came forward saying they had sex with him. There wasn't a lot of follow up, though, just like his wife leaving the country right before the shooting never got much follow up.
What the Advocate writer elides is that Mateen being a closeted gay who went nuts was the more acceptable story to the media than the shooting being an act of Islamist terror, so the reporting of such had nothing to do with "gays" being criminal and aberrant, whether Mateen was or wasn't gay. (Whatever that means in this context.)
Apparently the FBI dug into all those allegations (app cruising, attending club, etc) and found no credible evidence to support those claims.
http://www.latimes.com/nation/.....story.html
And now I supposed to believe the FBI?!?!?!?!?!
But thanks for the link, I hadn't seen that.
The same FBI who "lost track" of Mateen's wife? And who could identify no wrongdoing on the part of Hillary Clinton? Why wouldn't you believe them?!
I believe them this time because it confirms my bias that this was a terrorist attack, rather than a closeted gay man killing out of shame?
Of course, if it was a terrorist attack, it was blowback by Mateen's admission. But it can't be that because blowback doesn't exist.
it was blowback by Mateen's admission
Sounds pretty gay.
NTTAWWT
/obligatory
Of course, if it was a terrorist attack, it was blowback by Mateen's admission. But it can't be that because blowback doesn't exist.
You mean you want to actually take the guy at his word rather than find some psychoanalytic subtext? What kind of monster are you? (Rhetorical question, obviously--anyone who's read your stories knows the answer to that one).
Of course, if it was a terrorist attack, it was blowback by Mateen's admission.
Blowback for what, letting his family into the country decades ago?
Well it confirms your bias and also happens to agree with by far the most likely scenario
Closeted gays going on a killing spree of other gays out of a sense of self loathing is something that has happened approximately 0 times before (as near as we can tell), Islamists killing gays has happened hundreds of times in the last year.
So while it is possible the closet gay theory for Mateen's actions is true absent some pretty compelling evidence we can discount it entirely and just consider it a case of Islamist terrorism.
The FBI is responsible for a critical function of government. Other than national defense, no function is more critical. Failure and corruption of law enforcement is second only to a defeat by an occupying army in defining the failure of a government.
Government is what we all decide to do together. So, of course, I believe everything that the FBI, CIA, NSA, and the rest of the government says. To think otherwise is to be anti-social, that is, to reject what we have all decided to believe.
I have no idea why so many people seem to insist that it has to be one thing or the other. Nothing has a single simple cause, particularly human behavior. Seems most likely to me that it was 100% a Islamic terror thing, and his being on the DL contributed to his decision to do it and the choice of target.
No they were investigated and there was no evidence. It was really just a pipe dream by the "it's not Islam!" people.
It's never ever Islam. Because when Muslims commit a terrorist attack, offer moral and material support for terrorists, honor kill their daughter, lynch a local Christian, commit mass rape et cetera, they cease to be real Muslims.
I have no idea how his being a self loathing homo in any way supports "it's not Islam" anyway.
The "it has to be 100% Islam and nothing else" people are nearly as irritating. The people who do the suicidal attacks, especially ones who could have a decent life, have something else wrong with them in addition to their religion.
The need to find a single reason that explains everything he did is bizarre.
I mean shit, "he was told by a trusted confidant that Allah would punish him for his behavior unless he atoned by killing all the sinners" is just as good an explanation as any other I've seen.
No.
Proven according to what standard?
And where is his wife?
I tend to believe government pronouncements when they don't advance the Narrative du Jour. So, when the FBI says "no homo", I believe them, because that was going to be the Narrative du Jour - once again, an attack by a Muslim shouting "Allahu Akbar!" isn't Islamic terrorism, its workplace violence/gay bashing/etc.

Hey, no one was hurt. How much damage did he do to the house?
It's not funny anymore.
Personally, when I'm eating hallucinogens, first off, don't mix them. That's a bad idea. Second, if you see something out of the ordinary, like a dog in the middle of a fire, barking but not burning, just keep going. You can't be a hero with your third eye pinned open, just try not to be an asshole.

I thought the asshole was the 3rd eye... a third brown eye.
set, set, and setting. it's important. don't eat hallucinogens in a place where this is a possibility. I haven't eaten any mushrooms in a decade, but when I did, it was in the woods with trusted friends where you could be as wierd as you wanted without the possibility of doing something socially wrong. .02 cents from someone who used to really enjoy hallucinogens.
Good advice.
Hallucinogens shouldn't really be used for purely recreational purposes, IMO. Its like taking your track car to the grocery store. Sure, it'll do the job, but . . . .

I have only known one Crystal, and she did fit that description. She was a Nigerian hooker though, so I am not sure if it was because of her name, or because she was Nigerian.

I'm surprised she didn't go by "Classi."
I know more far more men falsely accused of rape, than I know actual rapists. I personally know five falsely accused and 0 actual rapists to be exact. Two of the five false accuser's names were Crystal and both of them are certifiably insane.
That you know of. I don't think there are any obvious outward signs that indicate who is or isn't a rapist.
Acquittal is a good indicator of being falsely accused. I'm sure I know a rapist or two, but guilty until proven innocent and all that. The fact remains, false accusations are cheap and easy. And Crystals are crazy.

Hillary "Russian Reset" Clinton
Two interesting things in the CNN article about the firebombing.
1) CNN spins Trump as being unhinged for suggesting that the media is biased against him.
2) In the same breath, CNN indulges in bias against Trump.
Check out this statement:
"The weekend firebombing episode become fodder for claims by Trump that the election is "rigged" in Clinton's favor, reflecting the intensity surrounding of the campaign in the final weeks of the race. In the evening, Trump -- without evidence -- blamed the firebombing on Clinton supporters."
http://www.cnn.com/2016/10/16/.....index.html
What do you mean the "without evidence"?!
The fire-bomber(s) spray-painted, "Nazi Republicans get out of town or else"!
If a bunch of people in white hoods burn a cross in your front yard, it might be the NAACP incognito--but it isn't outrageous or unreasonable to suspect the Klan.
Actually, the last 3 or 4 noose displays or cross burnings have been false flags. Nothing that elaborate, though. Classic projection on CNN's part.
"Look, it was probably a false flag type operation perpetrated by republicans themselves. And even if it wasn't, those Nazi Trump republicans have it coming anyway."
I know exactly what the scum in the JournoList are thinking about everything almost before they themselves do.
Oh, you mean exactly what you would be saying if a Democratic campaign site was destroyed by Trump supporters?
"Projecting" ain't just what Mike's tongue does while he's thinking real hard about a nickname, Sug.
" if a Democratic campaign site was destroyed by Trump supporters"
But this NEVER happens. Why pretend that it does?
CNN and Chris Cuomo are going full-retard on this issue of media bias - this morning they had Jack Kingston (former Georgia congressman) on pointing out that in one hour they had spent 57 seconds talking about Wilkileaks and over 23 minutes talking about Trump's alleged groping and Cuomo defended that imbalance in the coverage by essentially repeating what the 57 seconds of the Wikileaks "coverage" had been - the reason CNN isn't talking about Wikileaks is because the contents of the e-mails are "fruit of the poisonous tree", Hillary hasn't even verified that the e-mails are accurate and legitimate so they're just "alleged" e-mails, and there's nothing newsworthy in the e-mails anyway, the real Wikileaks story is that the Russians are attempting to influence the election, and the only reason CNN's talking about them at all is in the context of having to defend themselves against this ridiculous, totally baseless accusation that there's some sort of media bias. There's no media bias there, they're just reporting the news and there's no news in the Wikileaks thing.
Unverified sexual assault accusations that Trump denies: TOTALLY NEWS. Unverified E-Mails that no one in Clinton's campaign have denied are true. NOT NEWS.
The death of the television networks and newspapers can't come fast enough.
CNN is doing its level ass best to make it harder and harder to not root for a Trump victory. The exploding heads and the salty ham tears would be totally worth it.
Perhaps they should get one of the, "Needy Latinos" on and ask them how they feel about that. I'm sure Mr Penya is totally ok with being called that.
That bit about Hillary not verifying the e-mails are even accurate and legitimate is the most aggravating media bias - they're not Hillary's e-mails so of course she can't verify their authenticity and suggesting she can or should before you'll report on them is a completely gratuitous red herring - which exact sort of red herring, the conflating of one Hillary scandal with another specifically to deceive the public into thinking they're just hearing the same accusations over and over again and getting the media to go along with that lie, is mentioned in the Wikileaks e-mails. You're trusting that nobody's going to actually check the e-mails to call you on your assertion that there's nothing to see here, move along folks, just the same old GOP attack tactics of making up lies about the Clintons when that's exactly what the e-mails are suggesting you're going to do.
And definitely nothing that would coroborate the media bias issue.
Hillary hasn't even verified that the e-mails are accurate and legitimate
Has that odious bitch ever acknowledged something that makes her look bad without people dragging her to it kicking and screaming? Hell, one of the emails had an advisor of hers admit that her refusing to acknowledge the seriousness of the private server debacle was a major character issue. And how the fuck is she going to verify that the emails *from someone else's private account* are accurate and legitimate when most of them aren't even to or from her?
Fuck CNN.
In the evening, Trump -- without evidence -- blamed the firebombing on Clinton supporters."
Trump = Hitler, therefore NC Republican HQ firebombing = Reichstag Fire. /Prog "logic"
progs are ignorant. I doubt they know anything about the Reichstag fire. readers of history they are not.
Trump inspired violence in their hearts by running against the One Who Is.
Near as I can tell, Trump has at least as much evidence it was Dems bombed his office, as CNN has that Russians hacked Podesta's email.
Toronto taco restaurant apologizes after 'inappropriate and insensitive' Trump post backfires
Now I'm hungry for tacos, dammit.
Fish tacos!
I could slam me some fish tacos.
Wikileas claims internet access for Julian Assange was severed by a "state party."
The report I saw on NBC for the new leaks managed to jam in that the emails were "stolen" about 10 times in a 2-minute segment. Because that makes them no-fair to use or something.
I feel a little bad for them, they're so conflicted over the issue.
It's illegal to look at them. Don't make eye contact, back away and turn yourself in.
This is why it's a bad and dumb idea to use a home server connected to the public internet by a fly by night ISP for your highly sensitive and classified information when you're a high value target, Hildog you dumb fuck.
"Wikileaks were so brave when they reported malfeasance during the Bush years; what's become of them?"
"Can't we just drone him?"
If Assange had limited his activities to only embarrassing the Bush Administration, he'd be a hero to the left, but he embarrassed Barack Obama, and that's the unpardonable sin.
Due to the "illegal" bs, even the emails that have came out due to FOIA requests are being broadly painted this way. There is no distinction.
That's a focus group-tested line - conflate all the different Hillary scandals into one single "Hillary e-mail" thing and pretty soon the public gets tired of hearing about this same one thing over and over again. Blur it all into one big amorphous blob of vast right-wing conspiracy and then if you can discredit one part of it, why, you've discredited the entire thing, haven't you? But it takes the media to do the blurring in the public's mind.
Anything to deflect the attention from the content to the source. Sad, pathetic, and highly effective apparently.
Oh shit, you mean the Russians are unwinding the stalemate but otherwise doing no worse than Britain and France have done in prosecuting wars in the last 5 years? THOSE MONSTERS *faints*
"France and Britain are pushing the European Union to condemn Russia over its actions in Syria."
And if that doesn't work, they might have to send Putin a strongly worded letter.
It's nice to see Putin...

Teen busted for stealing $160K worth of cheese
'Tastee Cheese'? ...processed spicy cheddar cheese ...would try once.
Hey! That's nacho cheese!
-_-
YES! All the like buttons!
Jamaican Velveeta, mon!
I had no idea Jamaica was a cheese exporter.
What, you thought they just sold pot and coffee? Racist.
Well, those two things and Red Stripe
Does this mean they have cows?
It's a processed cheese product, so they could be bringing in the cheese and just processing it in Jamacia.
Or I could just google:
Also:
What is "Solomon Gundy" flavor? DC Comics superzombie flavor?
"the most cut cheese." Geez.
Barf.
1kg (the most "gifted" cheese)
These euphemisms...
"Let me show you my 2.2 pound log, baby..." ;o)
Hah, you think processed cheese product is processed from cheese?
/sarc
Exactly
I thought Dupont made Velveeta
An actual libertarian feel-good story*:
*Not that feel-good because its actually just a tyranny of the locals.
There's been other stories like that - local impromptu militias kicking out the cartels, which you can't do without kicking out the cops they've bought.
Am I horribly cynical to assume that this (along with the "threats" mailed to Trump supporters in Fla) are probably just publicity stunts by the GOP itself?
And that the DNC is routinely engaging in exactly the same shit? (e.g. the robocalls some people have mentioned accusing Trump of barring blacks from Trump tower)
Between now and the election i assume EVERYTHING i see/hear in the news is in some way contrived/calculated as part of someones campaign - and whats pathetic is that i dont even think this is being particularly cynical : that this is just the reality of the media-froth at the moment
You weren't assuming that already?
I was, but i think what Im confused about is whether the rest of the world is as cynical as i am, or whether there's still anyone out there who takes news at face value.
Im not going all Infowars and shit, im just saying its almost impossible to trust the day-to-day campaign-related bullshit
I believe that this is actually legitimate. As a person who spends more than half of their time there, Orange County is enough of a Team Blue echo chamber for someone like this to actually get street cred over this. UNC-Chapel Hill is in the same county, and that place is almost as Peak Derp as Berkeley.
The internet is kicking the media's ass and they're desperate to find a way to draw eyeballs. They'll squander whatever reputation real journalists had built up over a decades in order to grab their viewers` attention. The more market share they lose, the more desperate they become, the more idiotic the stories run, the more market share they lose. It's a fantastic vicious cycle.
Until they get the right people in power to crack down on the non-journalist competition.
Could be false flag, no question.
I'm not getting that vibe, but I've got no evidence one way or the other.

If you can stomach 18 minutes of John Oliver, he's going on a rant about third party candidates.
I seriously can't wait till this election is over because the stupidity that is clogging up my Facebook is slowly killing me. And I also can't understand why people bitch and moan that politicians aren't principled but yet are willing to vote in unprincipled politicians.
John Oliver is just Samantha Bee with a dick and an English accent. Smug, stupid, and biased as hell is the MO for the ex Stewart/Colbert alleged comedians.
Programs like the Daily Show, John Oliver's, and Samantha Bee's are our new two minutes of hate.

Not as smugdouchy as Maher, but a close second.
If you can stomach 18 minutes of John Oliver,
I can't stomach 18 seconds of that snarky, overrated hack.
its actually just a tyranny of the locals.
You say "vigilante mob". I say "ad hoc government". There are days I think that might be the way to go.No standing army of bureaucrats.
That'll show them!
If you can stomach 18 minutes of John Oliver
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA no.
Add another former US ally to the list
I used to foolishly believe that one of the few good things about the Obama Administration was foreign policy.
Boy was I wrong. I don't have a degree in international relations, but these missteps by the current administration and the consequences of such could have been seen a million miles away. Obama's Foreign Policy is a mixed of arrogance, stupidity, and hubris. Nothing good can come from this.
That second link was supposed to mention the rapprochement btw Russia & Turkey since the failed coup attempt
A certain part of the Obama foreign policy can be explained by the SJW mindset - the powerful are automatically the oppressor and the powerless the oppressed and in a world where the most victimized are the ones with the most moral authority to make demands, the most powerless are the most powerful. Obama's simply unaware that the rest of the world doesn't necessarily work that way and getting on your high horse about moral grievances only works to bully your opponents into subservience in a few specific areas and most of those areas are US university campuses and the smuggest of progressive enclaves. The rest of the world, when you whine and complain and cry like a baby they don't run over to mollify you, they run over to steal your wallet and kick you in the nuts for being a big whiny crybaby who lets people steal your wallet and kick you in the nuts.
NYT solves mystery of low labor participation rates.
While it's hard to generalize across a large group of people, it's clear that job market changes can have significant health effects on the labor force. Increased automation and the offshoring of jobs have hit men with less than a college education particularly hard. Add to that soaring levels of prescription opioid addiction in the general population, and the result of the Krueger study becomes less surprising.
More research is clearly needed. In the meantime, some things could be done to help workers who've given up. Congress could appropriate money for the opioid addiction treatment and prevention programs they authorized in July. And federal and state governments could focus economic initiatives where long-term joblessness is highest, especially in the South, Southwest and Midwest. This could be done through targeted investments in infrastructure and education that could create jobs and bolster the skills of local workers. Millions of American men are struggling with pain and missing from the labor market, a crisis that damages families and communities.
While it's hard to generalize across a large group of people, we'll keep doing it, if it promotes our "opioid addiction" moral panicking and non stop lobbying for bigger and more intrusive government programs.
So basically everywhere except the North East, DC and the left coast. You know, places that exist for the benefit of our leftist overlords.
To the NYT, correlation is causation, at least when it suits their preferences.
Increased automation and the offshoring of jobs
This, however, is a mystery NYT isn't interested in solving.
This could be done through targeted investments in infrastructure and education that could create jobs and bolster the skills of local workers.
It's costly and it never, ever works, but goddamnit we're going to give it a go.
This could be done through targeted investments in infrastructure and education that could create jobs and bolster the skills of local workers.
Sounds kinda like the plan some brilliant football coaches come up with of scoring as many points as you can while keeping your opponents from scoring points in order to win games. Of course targeted investments that create jobs is a good thing - but waving a magic wand while chanting a magic spell is cheaper and has just the same odds of success. You can't give politicians a big bag of money to spread around and not expect the politician's corrupt crony crook buddies to wind up with all the money and nothing to show for it. And complaining after the fact that it was a good plan, just lousy execution that doomed the program to failure is a laughably pathetic excuse - we've seen this exact same show a hundred times, we all know how it ends.
It essentially boils down to unfounded speculation based on unsupported hunches. What percentage of joblessness is due to ovoid addiction? I would guess it's low relative to other causes but that'd be speculation too. Then again I'm not the NYT.
ovoid addiction
John-worthy
Whoops-I'd ask for an edit button but it looks like that'll never happen.
No one needs an edit button.
Increased automation and the offshoring of jobs have hit men with less than a college education particularly hard.
"Why are men without a college degree supporting Trump in large numbers? It's a big fucking mystery."
I'll repeat this from yesterday: That Pence guy is one slippery motherfucker. He slipped out of Chuck Todd's gotchas every time, with alacrity.
If only he coulda been the LP nominee.
... or the Republican nominee
Speaking of "Using international affairs as a domestic political tool"
Is the US-backed Iraqi campaign to retake mosul being timed so that Obama can declare victory against ISIS right before the election?
The @*#& thing has been started and cancelled like 4 times since Jan 2015; earlier delays were because the Iraqis didnt want the Kurds to take it themselves, and then there was internal fighting within the Iraqi army... then ISIS took ramadi and fallujah, and Baghdad was like - 'Fuck the north',... but they had pretty much been "on again/off again" since July of this year.
I doubt the US has any decisive control over Iraqi forces, but i wouldnt be surprised if they at least delayed things a few weeks out of hope that they might get some great headlines at a time when everyones paying attention.
I've been wondering that for a while. A lot like the timing of the Bin Laden raid, it's seems rather convenient. The Democrats can't win elections based on arguments and reason, it simply cannot be done because they're so utterly wrong on everything there's too much fallacious ground for them to defend. They win elections by being masters of feelings and political theater. Pretty soon, when the Democrats add about 10 million new Democrat voters to the rolls, they won't even have to do that anymore.
If you don't like the way the current population votes just import a new one.
"They're still fighting in Iraq?"
--Average Voter
"It's Bush's fault"
--Ditto
^This. I agree that the media is trying to spin this as some MacArthuresque military victory, but it's been eight fucking years since the Mr. Peace Prize took office.
Don't forget they're giving ISIS a big head's-up that they're coming so ISIS can retreat from the city and make the "victory over ISIS" a fairly quick and easy and bloodless affair. And the media's not going to point out that the whole thing was simply taking a city the enemy was in the process of abandoning and not a victory over the enemy itself at all.
Assumes victory of Iraqis. ISIS atrocities on TV could backfire on the Hilbitch.
"Obama can declare victory against ISIS right before the election?"
Not sure if he cares about the election, but it seems to me like he wants to be able to declare victory against ISIS before his term is up. He's the kind of person who'd be vain enough to want to be remembered as the guy who stopped ISIS over they guy who left us with ISIS. If his victory comes at the VERY end of his term, then he can claim victory for his legacy and just blame all the inevitable blowback of his actions on the next administration, something the Obama worshipers will be more than willing to go along with.
"California Obamacare rates to rise 13% in 2017, more than three times the increase of last two years"
[...]
"The big hikes come after two years in which California officials had boasted that the program helped insure hundreds of thousands people in the state while keeping costs moderately in check."
http://www.latimes.com/busines.....story.html
The Chron, while reporting that one guy's premiums have gone from ~$600/mo to more than $1,300/mo, have stopped calling it Obamacare. Yep, while writing about those sorts of increases, it's now "The Affordable Care Act".
Oh, and the dofuss who got the increase says he's still in favor of it. He just doesn't want to pay for it.
You average CA voter...
13% is remarkably low given the increases other states have approved. What's up with that?
CA provides subsidies which has kept a couple of large players in the market and I'm pretty sure they were high to begin with. But the article mentions that if the open enrollment doesn't pan out well, the rates and the players may change.
I have a hint on how the open enrollment is going to work with rates like that.
Averages are a motherfucker. Think about how many people's premiums went up "only" 10% to offset this poor bastard.
I would assume that since it's an election year, the Insurance Commission may just not be approving the higher amounts (while offering an under-the-table deal for a future increase)
Boy, the insurance companies are going to be surprised when they find out that the commission is going to bend THEM over too (just like it does with everyone else)
I doubt the US has any decisive control over Iraqi forces, but i wouldnt be surprised if they at least delayed things a few weeks out of hope that they might get some great headlines at a time when everyones paying attention.
Was it Biden, yesterday, who said, "We're stretched too thin for a Syrian no fly zone."
By golly, Ted Cruz was right; our military has been gutted! We don't have the ability to fight in every single county in the mideast and the Himalayas at the same time.
Did we invade Nepal and I missed it? The way things are going I would not be surprised in the least.
Invade nipple is sexual crime!
13% is remarkably low given the increases other states have approved. What's up with that?
I suspect a big part is the sheer size of the market. A smaller relative number of truly expensive new "customers". And some serious finagling with the numbers. They'll run out of fingers eventually, and the dam will burst.
Yep. O-care requires magic to work. It won't.
Hello single payer.
Yeah, double-down on the magic requirements.
Did we invade Nepal and I missed it? The way things are going I would not be surprised in the least.

He's a Cuomo, they're a little bit special.
Let's not forget this one from last year.
You get bonus points for the linky.
I think Chris may have been kicked in the head by a horse.
Nah, that's 100% all natural DERP.
*Looks around*
No Cuomo?
A Cuomo who was not even bright enough to run for office.
It's odd that you never see Cuomo and Trudeau in the same place at the same time, isn't it? Just think about it. It all makes sense.
That's just because not even Trudy wants to be around a Cuomo.
A man with experience!!
