I'm sure Ms Postrel would be delighted to see H there
er the rest of my line got swallowed - it should say I'm sure Ms Postrel would be delighted to see Hit & Runners there
Free minds, free markets, and free drugs?
^This. I can only imagine the looks of disgust.
FWIW, answered you in the AM links.
Thx.
Yeah, she would love to meet all us jerks!
I thought H was a Hillary Clinton reference. AND IT PROLLY WAS CUZ THIS HEERS A COZMO RAG FER COSMO FAGS
No comment(ers).
Fully automated cocktail parties?
What is this, the 90's? Beltway parties are all about fruit sushi and quinoa cups now, coldblood.
This kind of thing would never have happened when Postrel was in charge.
My regrets. Best wishes to KM-W.
/Lights Tulpa signal
He's making a suicide vest.
Here come the sweepers...to take out the trash. SO LONG H&R, it was fun these last 10 years.
Well, you can always scribble obscenities on bathroom stall walls.
ha ha, just kidding
ASBO! Thats 18 months mister.
"Food trucks and drinks"- so, formal wear, then?
I just want Postrel to refer to us as a wretched hive of scum and villainy.
She already did, just not in those exact words.
I WANT IT VERBATIM!
These euphemisms are taking quite a demanding tone.
Sending up the signal for someone with good google-fu to look that up.
I see traveling road show potential...
Whoa dude... YES! That's a great fucking idea. I'd totally go to a Reason event if they swung through Minneapolis or Saint Paul.
Alt text: "How do I like my eggs? Fertilized!"
*That* is the kind of thing that will definitely come to an end under the new management.
Crazy eyes do not suit KM-W.
Oh? Has she been hanging out with Uzo Aduba?
Isn't that more of a Kerry Howley thing?
They're gonna drop.the pretense and go Full Progtard. /sarc
Let me be the first to welcome the new boss and her benevolent rule.
Assumes the position of servitude
Let's keep it clean, or we'll ruin it for everyone.
Couldn't they have found a better pic.
You mean this one?
She looks fine in that one, the one they chose makes her look spooky.
Spooky

Rainbow Party at the Shady Acres Retirement Home!
No one asked, but yeah, I think Katherine is pretty.
There's a sadness in her eyes. The sadness of reading of even a sliver of our comments over the years.
Its the sadness that makes her sexy.
Massively depressed - to a point where you assume accessibility - can be sexy. Nothing like "You're so without hope you might even do it with me!" to get the ol' motor running.
If it weren't for bi-polar disorder, I'd probably still be a virgin.
-1 Lithium.
Haha, I was kidding but okay buddy.
Don't sound so proud, Sugar.
SugarFree hath rent my soul to tatters with his fic...
Careful, Flanders. My telling Postrel that she looked nice was apparently the thing that triggered the whole apocalypse.
Huh? What apocalypse?
Yes, Katherine's hot.
And yes, Postrel's right. We are obnoxious.
Cute as a button.
This is why there are no female libertarians.
When did flattery die, you reckon?
Some time between second and third wave Feminism.
It would be awesome if they were to make-out!
Dude this isn't the WWE... But it'd be a lot cooler if it was.
Q&A. C'mon guys. It's LGBQT&A
Your handle got banned, and now you're looking for a real-life ban?
They actually did memory hole a brickbat earlier this week. There were some ...interesting comments about ... Well, never mind.
Devices that rendered forestry products into something less....structural organized?
I suspect off-label use of such devices was probably being mooted, yes.
I am of the belief all women on Reason are fake. Writers and H&R commenters. I mean, really, what women wants to hang out with this group?
I've met one of the women who used to post here. She was very real. Rowr.
The key words there being "used to."
I postulate she went into hiding (or worse) after unfiltered exposure to SugarFree.
It was the aftertaste.
That is just what someone trying to cover up the fact there are no Libertarian women would say.
It was Dagny T, from the days of yore. Hot. Like, whoa.
I am really jealous and bitter about that. I loved her. I can't believe you got to meet Dagny T. She was great. I wish she would come back.
Just too busy at work. Her career really took off.
That sounds like a euphemism for "Fled the country"
SF and Mary Stack...eww
/hurl
Crusty would.
I'm currently engaged to one, so I win.
Wow. Congrats.
Congratulations.
You and kibby?
Same thing with ethnic minorities.
Ahem.
I mean, really, what women wants to hang out with this group?
The cool ones.
Engagement with Postrel over at Popehat produced evolution.
Try to imagine it from her perspective. When Postrel looked at a couple of threads about things she wrote, she came over here, and she sees Tulpa, "Palin's Buttplug", and Mary Quite Contrary doing their concern trolling magic--how is she supposed to know the difference between those concern trolls and the rest of us? If I saw that, I might think Hit & Run comenters were idiot troglodytes, too--and I wouldn't have been as kind about it as Postrel was.
Think of it this way: If Tulpa, Palin's Buttplug, and Mary wanted to turn us against one of the greatest voices for libertarianism ever, they couldn't have done a better job. Of course, they're not smart enough to accomplish driving a wedge between us and Postrel on purpose--and they couldn't do it alone either. They'd need the rest of us to do their evil bidding for them. Let's stop doing what Tulpa, Shrike, and Mary tell us to do to Postrel.
P.S. Now I know how Stephen felt when he was addressing the Sanhedrin. Now I guess you'll all want to drag me out into the street and stone me?
Can you just stone yourself? I'm too tired for that today.
KMW is nice. Postrel? I thought she was disposed of for a reason?
Jesus, is this like a double shot? Or chug what you are holding? Or is this a 30 second Keg Stand? C"MON man it 10am.
Reason has a very strict two-kidney policy. Sorry to spoil Swiss's dreams.
*grumbles*
How about reason tries to encourage more disagreement and diversity among its staff. The remarkable thing about the reason writers is how similar all of their world views are. Libetarianism admits of much more intellectual diversity than reason portrays.
Reason's staff is out of central casting for "stereotypical college Libertarian"; there is the token gay guy who covers the gay beat, Shackelford. the doofus millenial who coves the college beat, Soave, the foreigner who is angry about immigration, Dalmia, the nerd who thinks science is the key to a happy and free future, Bailey, the pop culture geek, Walker, the serious policy guy, Suderman, the whinny idealist, Sullumn, I am not sure where Welch fits into that but you get the idea.
None of them break character or differ from one another except for interests and style. There needs to be a gadfly or two. Someone, anyone, who breaks the mold and keeps it from being an echo chamber. They should see if they could get John Mcafee to write a bi monthly column. He seems like an interesting guy. But do something.
Get a Yokeltarian. Someone from Mises. Jeff Deist?
That's actually a great idea. Jeff Deist is one of the more tolerable and reasonable guys there. I love reading his stuff.
I think Veronique could use some company in the economics field here. Recently, Deist does seem to be branching out into the pop culture stuff more.
I am not sure the reason staff could handle that. But they could probably handle McAfee. It really doesn't matter so much what their perspective is as long as it is interesting and gores a few of the staff's sacred cows and stirs things up.
Come on John. I think you are being a little obtuse here. First of all WIEGAL! Chapmann, Doherty. These three could not have been farther apart.
Nick and Matt are similar but the down line writers are often all over the place.
Name one difference between Wiegal (when he wrote at reason), Chapman and Doherty other than the subjects they covered? Name one serious philosophical disagreement between the three. I don't see any. They are not all over the place. They agree of virtually everything.
Doherty is the closest to a pure libertarian, while the others support all sorts of government programs.
Yeah, Doherty is about as close to doctrinaire libertarian as it gets.
John has gotten a lot of weird ideas. I can't even really give Rico too much shit for being wishy washy in his language -- by helping to torpedo a narrative constructed in the White House and handed to the supine/sujawideen media, he shit in the cornflakes of a lot of nasty people. If I was him, I wouldn't be having sex without a thorough background check, unless I wanted to spend the rest of my life in an embassy. If he feels safer writing in a way that he thinks will deflect heat, more power to him.
"Name one difference between Wiegal (when he wrote at reason), Chapman and Doherty other than the subjects they covered?
Weigel wasn't a libertarian and held us in contempt.
And I could always sense it.
The other thing was that Weigel covered politicians like they were either the solution to our problems or the cause of our problems.
Some writers, when they're young, get roped into writing for a publication they don't agree with because it's good for their career. I think Weigel was one of those guys. I doubt he ever understood why we didn't take to him because it was visceral thing.
We laughed when he was hired by the Washington Post to explain the Tea Party and libertarians within it to the Washington Post's readers because we knew he didn't understand us or them. The Washington Post thought they were getting a real live libertarian who understood these things. What they got (and we Reasonoids already knew) was that he wasn't that.
You could even contrast Weigel with Kerry Howley that way. Like Weigel, she wasn't a libertarian ideologue--but unlike Weigel, Kerry Howley had libertarian aspects and more importantly a libertarian outlook. Weigel thought that politicians were the solution to our problems and anyone who got in the way of good politicians doing sensible non-libertarian things was a rat-fucker.
Howley wasn't contemptuous of us or the libertarian outlook at all.
Jacob Sullum is a whiny idealist? Dafuq?
And what the hell do you know about college libertarians, old man? Just pulling neologistic stereotypes out of your ass.
Sullumn is just conventional. That was a reach. The rest however are not. And college libertarians don't change from generation to generation because college kids really don't. The proportion of the various groups varies but the nature of each group stays about the same.
New hires probably cost less 'cause they're new to journalism.
And new hires are like a box of chocolates. How do you know how a Supreme Court justice will rule in the future?
Maybe you should endow a chair at Reason.com, John?
Send them the money to do it, and I bet they'll hire someone you like . . . within reason.
Drink?
S-U-L-L-U-M.
Jesus.
McAffee would be a good addition.
But I can't complain. If I want more diverse views, I can read the comments, or a different site. I don't think Reason necessarily needs to, or should try to, cover the full range of so called libertarian thought.
Start working at home with Google! It's by-far the best job I've had. Last Wednesday I got a brand new BMW since getting a check for $6474 this - 4 weeks past. I began this 8-months ago and immediately was bringing home at least $77 per hour. I work through this link, go to tech tab for work detail.

Mangu-Ward's first act will be to start a Reason manga. What should she call it?
SugarFree, a life in the woods.
Why do you hate us?
it's for the children.
Or even better, her own personal Oscars equivalent for libertarian anime.
I have no respect for an award that must be given out every year, even if nothing produced is award-worthy.
Libertarian Chika Otaku EXTREME-RU!
Warty confirmed as best waifu.
I just got my primary ballot yesterday. Should I vote for Paul Stanton or Augustus Invictus for U.S. Senator?
what state?
Florida, I believe. Invictus is one of those flamboyant libertarians and has gotten press here.
Oh. These are real candidates. They both sounded fake.
Invictus is more likely to support my two pet issues of urban goats and a raw food diet.
Augustus Sol Invictus 'All You Need Is Blood'.
I am not Christopher P. Brown, but I approve of this message.
Is there really any doubt?
I basically profit close to $6k-$9k every month doing an online job. For those of you who are prepared to do easy at home jobs for 2h-5h each day at your house and earn valuaable paycheck while doing it... Then this work opportunity is.

Purple haired goddess.
Red or yellow = she's an ok fellow.
Green or blue = SJW.
Not sure where purple falls on this spectrum.
If Mangu-Ward is a Poster life it bodes badly for reason. Reason was a dull tech cheerleader under Postrel, and I stopped reading it for many years.
