Brickbat: Road to Ruin

Former Colfax County, New Mexico, sheriff's deputy Vidal Sandoval has pleaded guilty to drug trafficking and theft of government property. Undercover agents sent to investigate him for shaking down down motorists not only caught him doing that but also offering to allow drug dealers to move drugs through the county for a piece of their money.

Also.. first.
Stealing money - which is government property - is unforgivable. If only he had simply shot and killed his victims, or at the very least smacked them around, he would be deputy of the year right now.
What, are you saying the drug war offers perverse incentives to law enforcement?
Black markets do not cause ' perverse incentives ' ,just ask the D.E,A.
Impossible. No one fighting the drug war intends for these perverse incentives to happen. So it isn't the drug war's fault. It's the drugs' fault. Or something. But it isn't the drug war. Intentions are everything.
he told the smugglers they could traffic drugs and money through Colfax County if they agreed to give him a piece of the profits.
Since when has that been illegal for govt officials?
His crime was not laundering it through 'civil forfeiture'. Like the Mafia, the government takes offense when you skim off the top.
Plus, he presumably failed to give his superiors their cut. That's a whacking offense right there.
Jesus, it looks like we're finally, FINALLY cracking down on civil forfeiture and all you libertarians can do is complain.
Without government, who would prevent drug thugs from taking over society and shaking people down?
maybe we can get organized crime to help get the gummint off our backs?
then we bring in the gorillas, and then in winter the gorillas die off. utopia.
exactly...it's the give a moose a muffin strategy
