'We Tried to Give the Teens… a Safe Place,' Said Fort Myers Nightclub Where Two Were Killed, 14 Injured Monday
Gunfire erupted outside Club Blu, a Florida club hosting a teen dance night, around 12:30 a.m. Monday morning.

"We tried to give the teens what we thought was a safe place to have a good time," said Club Blu, the Florida nightclub where at least 16 people were shot Monday morning, in a statement.
According to the Miami Herald, gunfire erupted outside the Fort Myers club, which was hosting a teen dance night, around 12:30 a.m. Shooting victims range in age from 12- to 27-years-old. At least 14 people were injured and two killed.
"Officers arrived on scene and found multiple victims suffering from various levels of gunshot wounds," Fort Myers Police Captain Jim Mulligan said in a statement. Police say three people have been taken into custody related to the shooting but did not say why.
Here's the statement from Club Blu:
According to police, the shooters continued firing as they left the nightclub, shooting into at least two other nearby properties, including one house. One person was grazed by a bullet at one of these scenes.
The gunfire outside Club Blu comes a little over a month after the shooting at Pulse nightclub in Orlando that resulted in 49 deaths.

Gun free zone.
This is just typical little gang banger violence in an unusual setting.
Do we know it was gang bangers or is this just a guess?
Guess on my end. Three suspects in custody/detained last night.
My guess as well. I'd venture further to say the shooters probably have Francophone surnames.
This is a typical local news story
I could have done a better custom news search but "teen nightclub shootings" occur all the fucking time.
I would think that if you desire to offer teens a 'safe space', that a 'nightclub' for them would be the last thing you'd want to do. Night time, unsupervised, I assume over 18's not allowed but will be in there anyway, and a bunch of dudes with uncontrolled hormones waiting to explode.
Yeah. It does happen all the time. Not sure why it's a story worth a blog post all of a sudden.
Usually the victim count is not nearly that high.
Ya the deviation is that their aim appears to be improving. I would hazard a guess that they finally learned to hold their weapons upright.
I don't know man - the cops hold their weapons upright and can never seem to *deliberately* hit what they're aiming at. Maybe this sideways shit has something to it?
I think we have been over this before. The "right way" to hold a pistol is such that your arm is positioned close to its neutral/no torque position. For most people, that has the had at about a 45 degree angle from the vertical.
You hold it sideways, because looking cool is more important than hitting your target.
Yeah, there is something to it. You will hit way right and low. You can hit all kinds of stuff like that, just not the stuff you are shooting at.
Position the gun in your hand so that it is aligned with the tip of your elbow and the gap between your thumb and hand, hold the gun vertical and centered in front of you at eye level and take careful aim. With practice you can make 6 shots in the same hole at 25 yards regularly.
C'mon man - a well-trained cop missed the autistic guy he was aiming at from like 100 feet away and hit a completely different person. So much for your 'technique'.
I don't see what's so "unusual" about this setting.
Gun free zone.
You know, I'm opposed to substantially all gun control laws, but it takes a special kind of stupid to think that having more people blasting away with weapons in what I would think was probably a fairly noisy, crowded, and not particularly well-lit environment, combined with a "bad guy" who probably was not significantly different in dress or appearance than the "good guys," would be likely to produce a better outcome in terms of casualties.
The government is so totally at their job of making sure nothing bad happens to anyone ever.
So, is Club Blu a rennovated iHop?
Hint: There is no such thing as a 'safe space'. The entirety of the world is a dangerous fucking place.
Too soon to say "triggered" ?
12 to 27? Men cruising for teenage girls?
Light the PedoBot signal!
Probably - though maybe some of them are staff.
Any that weren't should probably have the police asking veeeery closely about why they were hanging around.
Maybe they're just dazed and confused.

You know, I wryly joked to myself this morning that reason would probably make an official post on this story before mentioning the DNC resignation debacle/scandal, but even I am a bit surprised.
They didn't waste time cranking out another anti-Trump rant. If he wins the election there will be thousands more of them. It will never end.
Stimulus!
Suthen, we ain't seen nothin' yet. It's only gonna get worse from here to November.
There was nothing more we could of done az you see it was not kids at the party that did this despicable act.

Remember the Alamo.
Lightning strikes again. For something that has such a low probability of occurring it sure seems to be killing a lot of people lately.

Is ENB a closet Trump supporter? Hyping a typical local news story to add fuel to his "law and order " campaign theme.
It's Kid Rock's fault.
Does this sound like a mass shooting or a gun battle with a lot of stray bullets? The low number of deaths makes it sound like the latter, since multiple shooters would have likely easily been able to mow down the entire club on the inside if they wanted to. Tragic all around.
Yeah, it was almost certainly the latter. It happens frequently. A co-worker had a few stray bullets go through the body panel of his car when he was at one of these wannabe thug house parties. That happened just last month.
We need more gun curfew laws!
