Brickbat: A Touch of Evil

A Mexican judge has ordered the government to begin a criminal investigation into Taxco police for beating and torturing Ronald James Wooden. Wooden, an American who moved to Mexico to set up a blacksmith's workshop, says he was beaten by police officers after refusing to pay protection money to one of them.

Nobody has gone to jail for torturing Wooden. Two of the police officers got warnings and were required to take human rights classes, though Santiago said it's unclear if they did.
Ok, class. Repeat after me, Gringos aren't filled with candy.
Unlike U.S. police,Mexican cops have standards. If you pay them off they won't beat you.
Mornin' Adans. Beatings will continue until Morales improves. Then they'll be even better.
Morning, straffinrun. If it wasn't for all those damn cell phones things would be peachy. It'll be interesting to see how the Phlilly cops respond this week.. Their not known for restraint.
they restrain lots of folks...shackles and leg irons are preferred methods
Let's play spot the quote.
'I love you too. No homo. Phew.'
Was it:
A.) Dane Cook.
2.) Rush Limbaugh.
Z,) Jordan Kaplan, National Finance Director for the DNC?
Two of the police officers got warnings and were required to take human rights classes,

It works here. What's not to like?
They just lacked the proper training to NOT torture people.
"Man this syllibi is getting long"
If only we could be more like Mexico. What's not to like?
But the question is how? How, oh how, can we become more like Mexico?
"The wage increase will raise the general minimum wage from $70.10 Mexican pesos per day (currently, approximately $4.08 USD) to $73.04 Mexican pesos per day (currently, approximately $4.25 USD).Jan 6, 2016"
A $15 dollar/hr minimum wage is a sure-fire way to bring that closer to happening.
Unless the judge was cheaper, Mr. Wooden isn't a good businessman.
It depends, the judge might have been a higher one-off expense, but the police would have been a recurring overhead.
"Mexican judge" ?
textbook racist comment
Indeed. Make that "Judge of Mexican heritage".
a wise Latina no doubt...
It was Orson Welles the American cop who was corrupt, not Charlton Heston the Mexican.
Charlton Heston was a Mexican?...always thought he was a damned dirty ape...or am I mixing my cinematic metaphors?
