...which the Warriors led 3-1 after four games, of being "absolutely rigged for money."
I was fixated on the series.
Our long national nightmare is over.
Ted, is that your house draped in the Slovakian flag?
Who wouldn't root against England?
But no, I don't have a Slovak flag. The Bavarian flag is flying outside my house. And I've got my Bayern M?nchen cap on.
I want one! My favorite part of Germany.
I know. Can we go back to the absolutely rigged for money Copa America now?
You don't rig 7-0.
Too bad I couldn't stay awake to watch the second half.
Oh I kid. Mostly.
The obvious granting of Mexico a "home game" every round was annoying.
The 7:0 left me like a giddy school girl. And I don't even like Chile.
You don't find Vidal's hairdo and tats a turn-on? :-p
I would not touch him with a ten-foot whatever. He looks like something that crawled out of a Jersey frat-house after a week of partying.
Hello.
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) visited the Brooklyn campaign headquarters of presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, telling staffers not to "screw this up."
Watch your backs, staffers. She ain't gonna bury the hatchet in the ground this time around if you get my drift, eh, hm?
they only had that one ref on the take that one time all by himself.
I can see suspicions about the NFL (Patriots after 9/11, Saints after Katrina, Steelers for Jerome Bettis' retirement, Broncos for Peyton's) but the NBA? First I've heard of this.
The Book The NBA Doesn't Want You To Read
We've obtained a copy of Tim Donaghy's book, Blowing the Whistle, which purports to expose the NBA's "culture of fraud" and which Random House was set to publish next month ? until, a source says, the league threatened to sue....
The NFL is absolutely fixed. MLB is absolutely not. NBA falls somewhere in between. Last night seemed pretty on the level.
Well, there was the "Black Sox scandal" in which some players of the Chicago White Sox was accused of intentionally losing against the Cincinnati Reds in 1919. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Sox_Scandal
But I begin to wonder if the 1994 strike was fixed? The years then the Montreal Expos could had made it to the World Series and that strike ended all hope.
Yeh that was total fucking bull shit.
NO SPOILERS
His body was found pinned between his car and a gate at his California home.
That is wery sad news.

Elbowing.
High-sticking.
Lost a stroke. Nice.

More like a long shirt. Emmy-worthy camera work by the guy following them into the clubhouse, though.
Now you can wrap your gifts with Kim Kardashian's buttocks
uh, no.
You don't want skid marks on your birthday present?
Doesn't she need her buttocks?
Not really, I think it's like the nauga, they just remove layers and it keeps growing back as overinflated and disgusting as ever.
For Caitlyn's new chest?
You can rent them for birthday parties, bar mitzvahs, and even funerals. They also make a good bounce house for the kids.
Her buttocks do glow blue in the presence of orcs. So they have that going for them.
"Bitch, you ain't no hobbit, is you?"
I am still not sure how the Kardashian empire was born. I think though that it had something to do with the OJ Simpson case.
wait, I found it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kardashian
So, who were their delegates pledged to?

They should have problems with Hillary, too.
You mean because she wants to break their encryption and ruin their business? Nah, more important to social signal.
That's nothing a large cash donation to the DNC can't fix.
DNC my ass.

Everybody knows that.
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) visited the Brooklyn campaign headquarters of presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, telling staffers not to "screw this up."
They chose to work for Hillary, so they've already screwed up about as badly as possible.
They chose the thug life.
They bought their tickets. They knew what they were getting into. I say, let 'em crash!
What do you make of this?
They in the game.
And the game is terrifying.
We don't know who will win, be we already know we will lose.
Attorney General Loretta Lynch says authorities will release partial transcripts of Orlando 911 calls, but apparently not the shooter's pledge to ISIS so as not to "further his propaganda."
Forever controlling the message.
Why bother mentioning ISIS when we know its the gun makers fault.
^THIS.
Obama successfully changed the discussion post-Orlando from Islamic terrorism to gun control.
He's a master at manipulation, and the boot-licking media is forever at his beck and call.
How frustrating, however, must this be to the foreign backers of this terrorist? They deliver what they must have felt to be a crushing symbol of the power of their silly religion, and the target country just gets involved in a tired old argument that has nothing to do with you or your message.
Beckon call
/pedant
The correct phrase is "beck and call." If you are at someone's beck and call, you respond immediately whether he or she beckons or calls; it implies complete subservience. It's an old phrase, originating in the late 1800s, during a time when "beck" was used to mean "beckon."
Seems Yusef learned grammar at a magnate school.
Pedant fail.
Imagine how much fun an intellectually honest John Stewart would have with that one.
I don't really think this falls under Green Lantern jurisdiction.
An intellectually honest Jon Stewart might be interesting to see though.

It would be amusing to see if half of Silicon Valley tried to relocate to Canada or Mexico. A good chunk of their workforce is Chinese slave labor and H1Bs so it's not like they really need to be headquartered in the US.
Surprise! Post-Obergefell and we still don't know what laws to enforce.
In the year since Obergefell, courts have begun resolving these issues, though some answers are as yet elusive. For instance, how to divide property accrued during a long-term relationship of a same-sex couple divorcing after only a year of marriage? And what happens when a party asserts rights under federal or state religious freedom laws to decline to engage in activities for or related to parties in same-sex marriages?
http://www.abajournal.com/maga.....e_has_affe
Sign a fucking contract.
Of course, the state divorce courts will try to override these arbitrarily.
There's a recent Michigan case (regular sex, not same sex) which essentially is saying prenups are fine, unless they aren't, we courts can invade separate property whenever we want. Or at least that's how I interpret it, I read the thing three times (plus the court of appeals case that it overturned) and I am still not sure.
I had my pre-nup tossed by a California judge. The rationale was that my ex's agreement not to take alimony was contrary to public policy.
The courts have a thousand years of common law divorce law to fall back on.
They're just making shit up to make it look it like this is some heretofore undiscovered area of law, instead of something that any any first year law student could easily handle.
Making things more complicated is job security for them.
It seems that the 1000 years of common law ends up with "if in doubt, side with woman" which doesn't work in same sex marriage.
Also, we only have a few decades of no-default divorce common law. For most of those 1000 years, fault was a major issue.
Maybe the courts will default to screwing over whichever individual seems more masculine.
Bingo. They are used to trying to do their bit to punish The Patriarchy. Give em 2 cocks or 2 vaginas and these brilliant legal minds got nothin.
Same way straights would do it? I didn't RTFA because TL and IANAL but I'm not seeing what the problem is. Except in cases of "if in doubt, side with woman" mentioned below.
A Maryland judge has upheld a two-day school suspension for a boy, then 7 years old, who chewed his breakfast pastry into the shape of a gun and pretended to shoot it.

They taught this kid that the administrators are the real bullies.
The kids parents should have claimed that he was a Muslim, that he had invented a new gun with his chewed pastry and that the administration were clearly Islamophobia racists for failing to celebrate his great invention.
The Bane of America's Electrical Grid Has a Bushy Tail
I can't wait for Trump to find out about this so he can claim the squirrels, like the cyberattacks, were sent by Chhhyyyna.
Little buggers have plenty of time to infuriate the commentariat, however.
...as Apple says it won't participate in the Republican convention this time around because of concerns over Trump.
So put your iPhones in the basket on the way in.
Trump didn't promise them enough H1B visas?
I'm sure that's part of it.
Not that I'm into conspiracy theories, but of the 'Big Four' sports, I reckon the NBA is the most likely to engage in funny-monkey business.
It is the easiest sport to fix. A few well placed foul calls and the entire game changes. It is also the only major sport that has had a referee convicted of fixing games to pay gambling debts. There hasn't been a major point shaving or game fixing scandal in any of the other major sports since the 1919 Black Sox. Basketball, meanwhile, has had three since 1950 (the point shaving scandals at NYU in the 50s and BC in the late 70s and the Donagy NBA scandal in the early 00s).
CCNY, not NYU.
Not quite the easiest. Mayweather may have another opinion.
I would argue that boxing is much easier to fix. There's a reason nobody cares all that much about boxing these days, and most of it is because we know the fix is in.
So far, Dana White has been able to keep UFC clean, or at least the rumors to a minimum. Why watch boxing when you can watch the best fighting on the planet?
Still nowhere near as corrupt as FIFA. and there have been quite a few match-fixing scandals in lower-tier football leagues.
It wasn't just lower tier football leagues. In 2005, pretty much the entire top Italian league turned out to be fixed.
Tennis, especially for players ranked in the 100s, is often rigged. Weird betting patterns followed by #110 losing to #180.
Especially if #110 is eastern european.
My favorite tennis betting irregularity story involves Caroline Wozniacki. She was up a set and 4-1, and called her coach (her father) over at the changeover. They spoke in his first language, Polish, and she told him she felt an injury and wasn't certain what to do. He said to play one more game, see how it feels, and if it doesn't feel better retire so that the spectators the next day would have a match.
Bettors who could speak Polish obvious started betting heavily at long odds that Wozniacki would lose the match, which is what happened when she retired a game later.
That isn't fixing. That is smart betting. And Wozniacki is a babe.
Heh reminds of when the the US attorneys starting busting FIFA on bribery charges.
And then people started bitching that the US was only doing it because the US didn't get to host the Worlds cup. Despite the the fact that you would be hard pressed to found a country that had less fucks to give about FIFA and the world cup.
If you aren't counting college football. I remember 3 or 4 years ago there were about 3 referees cuaght gambling and throwing games intentionally to make some Las Vegas betting go their way. One that comes to mind was UMass v Pitt.
I don't remember that. Do you have a link?
Do you mean Pitt vs. Maine in 2011 where Pitt won 35-29?
Man, I still remember the Lakers in the 80s and 90s getting so many calls. Maybe even the Celtics. Didn't the Kings controversy happen against the Lakers too? My memory is foggy but I do remain them being jobbed.
The early 00s were appalling in the NBA. There was the infamous Kings Lakers series, but there was more than that. People don't remember it as much because the teams were not as high profile but google the 01 Bucks 76ers series sometime. It was in many worse of a put up job than the Lakers Kings series.
A few well placed foul calls and the entire game changes.
And even in a "fair" environment, foul-calling is so subjective already that it's easy to wonder, after the Donaghy scandal and the slime trail that Stern always left behind him, how much has been legit over the years.
That said, watching a couple of the games it was pretty obvious what the book on beating the Warriors will be--slow the game way down on offense and don't let them get good ball movement when you're on D. Curry and Thompson have ridiculous range, but I think what ultimately killed them was Andrew Bogut getting injured.
There is no way in hell Donagy was the only ref fixing games and none of the other refs knew about it. They were all in on it or at least knew about it and didn't say anything.
I'll take "Things Irish would say" for $200, Alex.

If I were a journalist (*shudders*), I would live for typing wonderfully phrases just like this.
I'm so sad about that.
So is kerfuffle entering daily usage? I thought it was reserved for skits of Little Britain. NNTTIAWTT.
Seems to be used by American political writers fairly often.
Pop culture writers still haven't gotten over DESTROYS, CRUSHES, DEMOLISHES, ANNIHILATES and all their synonyms.
WATCH TRUMP TOUCH TANGENTIALLY ON A RELEVANT POINT. Not a lot of clicks on that.
I think Pratchett had a joke that you only saw words like kerfuffle in newspapers.
The closest (well, maybe 2nd closest) I have ever come to being arrested was in a Kroger. Over a pie.
hair pie?
Witness: "threw the cake to the ground, stepped on it several times"
Cops: "drop kick"
Anyone want to tell the cops what a "drop kick" really is?? Because "It is defined as an attack where the wrestler jumps up and kicks the opponent with the soles of both feet". I'd actually like to see someone drop kick a cake, that sounds hilarious to watch.
I guess one could punt a cake, which is also referred to sometimes as a drop kick.
So she's a bundt punter?
Was it a gay cake?
It's taboo to admit it, but I wish my unborn baby wasn't a beastly boy!
...But the truth is I like girls, I understand girls and I've always dreaded the idea of having a boy. People say how emotionally uncomplicated boys are and how manipulative and fussy girls are. But what use is a plain-speaking boy to me? I wouldn't know where to start. I know exactly where I am with girls and their petty mind games. I've played them myself. I'm a Grand Master of them....
...Little girls, with their own interest in wholesome things and willingness to have their hair done and to wear dainty shoes, fit in with this ridiculous pursuit of the picturesque and the perfect in a way that riotous little boys do not....
...And, in the end, your boys will leave you for another woman. They will get girlfriends, who will be hateful and wilful and annoying.
These girls might even ? horror! ? marry your son and take him, and your grandchildren, away for ever. It is the mother of the bride who is the centre of attention, it is the maternal grandmother who traditionally gets the action with the grandchildren. You stand to lose everything!...
I hope that kid drives her nuts.
It should be the bride and groom together who are the center of attention.
It has never been that way.
Yeah, I know, it's all about the bride.
In any case, it shouldn't be about the bride's mother.
When you show up to a wedding and the mother of the bride is wearing white, you know the reception is going to have at least one hysterical tantrum and a drunken fight.
They will get girlfriends, who will be hateful and wilful and annoying.
or maybe he won't be attracted to someone like his mom
So, are girls perfect or hateful and spiteful? I am confused by her attitude about the female sex.
They are hatefully perfect creatures that she wants to be on her side, not the side of her horrible son.
Better yet, maybe he'll end up gay. Mom will be living the dream.
Fuck. Worse than that, the poor kid is going to say or do something off-hand at the age of 2-4, like putting on one of his sister's tutus and say, "Look mom! I'm a girl." and that'll be the end of it. The local community will have to build extra restrooms to accommodate the precious ego of her precious little trans-girl.
Not if he isn't gay gay.
Exactly, and crazy mind games will also be a turn-off when he meets women.
It's the boy's good luck he's *not* a girl, so the mother will spend a lot less time trying to screw the kid up.
She does not want a kid, she wants a dolly.
Actually, I think her son might turn out all right. At least he won't be a mama's boy.
I know exactly where I am with girls and their petty mind games. I've played them myself. I'm a Grand Master of them....
Someone put a baby in this hot mess?
I know very little about boys, coming from a family of all girls, but what I have seen I really haven't liked. Boys are gross; they attack their siblings with sticks, are obsessed with toilets, casually murder local wildlife and turn into disgusting teenage boys and then boring, selfish men.
...
Mothers who declare a gender preference out loud are breaking a huge taboo ? the acceptable thing to say is that your only care is that the child is healthy and happy. If someone is rude enough to press you, you must stare off into the distance with a martyrish look on your face and say: 'Well, I suppose it would be nice to have one of each.' And then you leave it there.
The cognitive dissonance makes me want to hit her with a stick and murder some wildlife.
What a horrible, horrible person.
My mom was always glad to have 4 boys and no girls. She finds girls to be annoying, needy drama queens.
My mom also had 4 boys, but she was delighted to finally get a granddaughter.
Absolutely. Not that I give a shit. Boys are easier. So long as you don't mind the noise, the smell and can pay for the property damage, boys are fine. Girls will eat your soul.
Kind of hope the daughter turns out to be a butch lesbian into fem girls. Actually no I don't. That child would end up with so many issues if they didn't turn out exactly like their mother wanted them to.
"But what use is a plain-speaking boy to me? I wouldn't know where to start. I know exactly where I am with girls and their petty mind games. I've played them myself. I'm a Grand Master of them."
Lady is complaining that she's better at interacting with dishonest people than with honest ones??
"And, in the end, your boys will leave you for another woman. They will get girlfriends, who will be hateful and wilful and annoying."
Why does this lady seem to be complaining more about women than with men in her complaint at having a male child??
"it is the maternal grandmother who traditionally gets the action with the grandchildren."
My paternal grandmother was awesome and gave me a love for cooking, and so I suspect she made this part up...
"These girls might even ? horror! ? marry your son and take him, and your grandchildren, away for ever."
Well, if this lady's the son's mom, this might be a good thing for him. After meeting his future wife, you gotta think his first thoughts are going to be on the line of "What, so all women aren't really insane?? That was just mom??"

Loretta Lynch: References to Islam From Orlando Terrorist 911 Call Removed "To Avoid Revictimizing"

...The Washington Post reported last week that the gunman made multiple phone calls while holding hostages: "The gunman who opened fire inside a nightclub here said he carried out the attack because he wanted 'Americans to stop bombing his country,' according to a witness who survived the rampage."
Salon reported that: "Everybody who was in the bathroom who survived could hear him talking to 911, saying the reason why he's doing this is because he wanted America to stop bombing his country."
The Washington Post also noted that during his 911 call from the club, the gunman referenced the Boston Marathon bombers and claimed "that he carried out the shooting to prevent bombings, [echoing] a message the younger Boston attacker had scrawled in a note before he was taken into custody by police."..
Syrian Immigrant Who Said 9/11 'Changed The World For Good' Is A Homeland Security Adviser
One of the members of the Homeland Security Advisory Council's (HSAC) Subcommittee on Countering Violent Extremism is a 25-year-old immigrant of Syrian heritage who said that the 9/11 attacks "changed the world for good" and has consistently disparaged America, free speech and white people on social media.
Laila Alawa was one of just 15 people tapped to serve on the newly-formed HSAC Subcommittee on Countering Violent Extremism in 2015 ? the same year she became an American citizen. Just last week, the subcommittee submitted a report to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson, recommending that the DHS avoid using Muslim terminology like the words "sharia" and "jihad" when discussing terrorism.
Alawa says she immigrated into the U.S. when she was ten years old. Her family had already left Syria by the time she was born. "But I will always be Syrian. I will always be from Syria. I will always be of Syria," she wrote in November 2015, calling the country her "homeland."...

That's kind of fucked. And makes no sense.

So you should always not believe them? Why would she make this story up?
So you should always not believe them?
Well, you shouldn't assume it's true just based on their say-so, no.
Why would she make this story up?
Could be because she hates the Clintons and wants to make them look bad? Seems pretty understandable. Maybe she is telling the truth. I'd like to believe it. It fits well with my opinion of Hillary. But I think if the target were someone less despised around here, people would be a bit more skeptical.
Sure but that seems like an awfully elaborate story to make up. It also seems to be an odd thing for someone, even someone who hates the Clintons to make up.
I don't assume it is true. I just wonder why you assume it must not be true. Why should the Clinton's get the benefit of the doubt here?
I don't assume it must not be true. I don't think I said anything to indicate that I did.
Good thing this was about Hillary and not Trump.
Yes, because this way you only find out about it halfway through morning links. If it was about Trump, it would be the only story all day long on CNN, MSNBC etc.
John, what are you, an SJW?? "Listen and believe" is THEIR crap.
Forgive me if I prefer evidence. I'd love to believe this, it seems like something she'd do.
But I'm not going to believe without evidence, because I'm not a moron seeking only things to sate my own confirmation biases. There are PLENTY of reasons to lie about your former employer and the wife of your former lover. And this, PARTICULAR claim may seem "odd" to you, but it doesn't to me.
Someone who uses slurs and whines about the incapability of mentally handicapped CHILDREN is someone who everyone, regardless of political alignment, agrees is an evil, heartless monster. Mentally disabled children are pretty much the best victim to choose if you wanted to make up a lie about someone you dislike saying something horrible. (Not that I'm saying it is a lie. I'd need proof that the statement was a lie just as I need proof that the statement is not a lie before I make any judgement call. But if it was a lie, it is the perfect lie to tell to enrage everyone.)
"Why should the Clinton's get the benefit of the doubt here?"
It's called "burden of proof". Rational people don't just believe things that they want, they believe things because of evidence.
You are just assuming it is not true. I see no reason why is can't be true. This woman was in a position to know and tells a fairly convincing story that would subject her to a libel suit if it wasn't. Remember, she is claiming to have actually seen this. So the reckless disregard standard would not do her any good in a libel suit.
Why would she risk losing a libel suit and the resulting judgment by making this up?
Here we have a woman who was in a position to know and is willing to make the accusation in a public way. I see no reason to think she is lying.
I think it's well established Hillary has a potty mouth and believes you and I are pond scum; that said, I don't believe anything sourced from "a former lover".
Michael Wilbon writes that it was okay to let OJ off for a murder he was obviously guilty of committing because "O.J. was the lesser of two evils "
Michael Wilbon is just a horrible person. I don't like cops as much as anyone but this is appalling. How did OJ getting off change anything or make anything any better for black people? I didn't and it probably made things marginally worse by giving at least some white people an excuse to hate black people.
Meanwhile, OJ Simpson is a sadist who beat and basically enslaved his wife for years and finally murdered her when she told him to go to hell and that she wasn't coming back. And Wilbon is such an old bitter racist, he thinks letting such a person off is the "lesser of two evils" because RACISM!!
What a piece of crap that guy is.
Reason won't take the link in any form. Sorry for the lack of link.
Referring to this, John? I tried reading it to see what got you riled up, I made it about 1/3 of the way before I gave up.
Yes that. I get it the LAPD sucks. But how did letting OJ get away with murder change that? Basically, Wilbon is a racist who wanted to see white people suffer no matter what the cost.
And that is the worst but hardly the only horrible thing about the article. Then there is this
It's just that we also knew what the Los Angeles Police Department was, who Marcia Clark was, who Mark Fuhrman was.
WTF did Marsha Clark do? Wilbon actually tells us
But the fact that Clark arrogantly presumed that she would connect with black female jurors ? as if she was Oprah ? only to find out the black female jurors hated her.
She arrogantly thought that black female jurors might give a shit that Simpson beat and terrorized his wife for years and instead found out they hated a white woman more for the sin of marrying a black man than they hated the black man who beat her.
Fuhrman insists that the case went off the rails because Marcia Clark wanted to prove domestic violence, and neglected proving murder.
I did come across a very interesting article that argued that OJ's son was the real killer and that OJ's behavior was the product of trying to cover it up.
I think Furman is right about that. But that makes Clark a bad trial attorney not a bad person. And the reason she tried a bad case was that she was not racist enough to realize the black women on that jury likely hated white women who married black men and really didn't have a problem with husbands who beat their wives, especially black husbands who beat white wives.
But John, for someone of OJ's standing who was an actor and now can never act again, isn't the mere fact everyone who knows he is a murderer punishment enough??
After all, it wasn't long ago that you argued the mere fact that a rapist could no longer be an Olympic swimmer was punishment enough for his crimes.
Clearly by your standards, justice has been served by the millions of dollars OJ was unable to earn in his future due to his inability to be employed ever again.
Not long ago we talked about a case where a guy sexually assaulted a woman and was convicted of a felony, is going to be marked as a sex offender for the rest of his life and received six months in jail.
Here we have a case where a person committed two brutal murders and was not even convicted. So one case has nothing to do with the other.
You are really stupid aren't you?
I think that is actually true. People forget that the police lied throughout the investigation and engaged in sketchy evidence handling all of which created reasonable doubt.
People also forget that the suspect tried to flee the country with a gym bag full of cash and a disguise, and that he almost put a bullet in his own head at the end of the chase.
People also forget that the son had no real motive. Nicole Simpson had left OJ. From the son's perspective, that is a good thing. OJ in contrast told her he would kill her if she ever left him.
I found the article. The major points:
Jason Simpson lied about his whereabouts at the time of the murders. The cops assumed he was in the kitchen cooking, but employees told a PI that he actually closed the restaurant early, after Nicole Simpson cancelled her reservation to eat at Jason's restaurant the previous night.
He had an explosive temper and was known to lash out violently over perceived slights, and was on probation for attacking a previous employer with a knife. He was prescribed medication to control his psychotic episodes, but had stopped taking them shortly before the murders.
He was known to wear a knit cap like the one recovered from the scene, and one of the knives he was known to own would have been perfect for producing the injuries that Nicole had.
Goldman's injuries were consistent with a vicious and prolonged fight. He has a black belt in karate, and the injuries to his shoes and legs suggested that he had kicked his assailant several times. OJ lacked the injuries that such a fight would produce. The tissue under Nicole's fingernails points to someone other than OJ.
It's an interesting article, not a definitive proof, but raises questions that would have warranted investigation. Since the police never considered Jason a suspect, they didn't make any effort to exculpate/inculpate him.
Right. And someone planted the bloody socks. And OJ's blood on the fence. And the Bruno Magli shoes. And the gloves for which he had a receipt. And the cut on his knuckle was from slamming down a glass in the airport.
right
I wouldn't dare describe it as a friendship. I wasn't on that level. But Simpson did allow for a certain connection. Maybe it was because my boss Solomon had done right by him in the late 1960s. Perhaps ? though this conflicts with O.J.'s public proclamations about race ? because I was one of only two or three black football writers in America at the time had something to do with it.
Simpson liked me! Jesus, Wilbon is that pathetic.
He liked him because "he was on of the two black sports writers in America". First, that is bullshit. There were plenty of black sports writers in the 70s. Wilbon is just puffing his own importance there. Second, Wilbon spends three paragraphs explaining how Simpson didn't think of himself as black or give a shit about other black people. Yet, Wilbon thinks he somehow liked him because he was one of the first black sports writers.
Wilbon is acting like a racist himself with that bull shit.
I like Pardon The Interruption, but Wilbon clearly hates the 2nd amendment and thinks it's just fine that Phil Mickelson should pay $20 million in taxes on $40 million in income.
So, the greater evil is what? The police?
I certainly don't think much of police generally, and they did some bad things in the OJ investigation.
But whether or not the prosecution made a good enough case is really the only question.
No one wants to say this, but OJ was getting off the minute they allowed black jurors on the panel, no matter what the evidence was. This was a year after the Rodney King riots, and no black person in LA was going to let one of their own go down in a high-profile murder case like that, especially someone as famous as OJ. Wilbon's article simply confirms that.
Pretty much. And Wilbon is proud of that fact.
I lost any shred of respect where hockey is concerned with that guy when he said Kane and Toews and a bunch of others (he fucking mentioned Kopitar and Doughty (who is slightly over rated) were better than Crosby because in the case of the first two they had three cups.
What a clown.
Under no metric - subjectively or objectively - can you conclude A) Crosby is a top 10 player all-time and B) anyone playing today is better than him.
The guy is losing his mind shaking his fist telling us to get off his lawn.
How The DNC?And Media?Conned Us Into Clinton
...The strategy email also cautioned DNC operatives to leave "no fingerprints"as they "utilize reporters to drive a message."
Want to repeat that sentence: "Utilize reporters to drive a message." I'm waiting for Woodward or Bernstein to comment....
...And of course, many reporters along the way did the bidding the Clinton memo outlined?in some cases, openly prepping them with questions before going on-air....
You create so many smoking guns you can't see shit from all that smoke.
A "con" involves people actually being fooled into allowing something to happen. Every Democrat voter knows how corrupt Hillary is; her supporters just don't care.
Her entire base of support is composed of establishment Democrat politicos and journalists, and aging liberal boomers who still think the 60s are relevant. The rest are voting for her out of habit, not because they actually like her.
Did a Defective Jeep Kill Anton Yelchin?
If he parked it on a steep hill, did he put the parking brake on?
I'm going with bad luck and momentary stupidity.
Or perhaps ongoing stupidity that finally got him.
Are you going to issue him a citation?
Honestly, the whole case seems like something out of a Final Destination movie. OK, so he left his Jeep in park on a hill, it seems like then the car should just start rolling downhill. But it didn't roll downhill until he was already checking his mail. That just doesn't make any sense.
Windy day?
That would be consistent with the one article I saw that said the car slid downhill. But it would have to be a strong MFing wind.
A Prius has the same type of shifter.
We're talking about cars, Red.
Nobody is interested in the design flaws of a jumped-up Rascal. 😉
Rented a Chrysler 200 recently. The shifter is a knob you turn. Nearby is the volume control knob. I have no idea why they thought that was a good idea.
FCA's been doing that in a number of their vehicles for some reason. It's even in the Ram trucks. Like you, I have no idea what the utility of it is, especially if Fiat-Chrysler's well-known reputation for build quality emerges and the knob breaks off.
Two people are dead from heat-related emergencies in Arizona as an intense heatwave sends temperatures north of 110 degress and feeds wildfires across the Southwest.
Are you happy, now, deniers?
Yes, because it has never before hit 110 degrees in Arizona in June before.
Yes, because I deny myself the opportunity to take long hikes when it is over 110 degrees.
Depends. What is a "heat-realted emergency?" Is it like the guys preparing for hurricanes who have heart attacks while nailing plywood over their windows -- and their deaths are included in the storm's death toll?
Heat stroke?
Based on what it says in the article, I think that is what it is. They all seem to have been hikers who were "overcome" with the heat.
Hot weather in Arizona is climate change!
An unseasonably chilly June in Virginia is, however, weather.
Just think, if they hadn't denied, those people would still be alive.
I'm surprised no one's mentioned Trump dumping Lewandowski.
I'm sure it's just another genius move by Trump, not a desperate attempt to fix his broken, shitty campaign. Right?
Does it have to be one or the other?
His campaign needs to shift gears from primary to general mode. That could be all it is - he needs somebody with a different skillset.
Or it could be a desperate attempt, etc.
Ayesha Curry, wife of Golden State point guard Stephen Curry, became the latest in a long line of NBA conspiracy theorists when she accused the Finals, which the Warriors led 3-1 after four games, of being "absolutely rigged for money."
You know, the refs have an incentive to make it run seven games but no one seems to consider that.
One Facebook poster named Christopher Rath posted the following then I quoted:""Who's to say GSW would of even been in the finals if Green gets suspended like he should have against OKC. The NBA is rigged. I'm just tired of hearing it's all rigged for Lebron and the cavs. I firmly believe the NBA would rather then get the 73 win team to win it all so the media and other people debate who's better GSW or the Bulls."
Propa-whatnow? Why, its so odd that word should come to mind.
"Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump says the U.S. should 'seriously' consider profiling Muslims in its counter-terrorism efforts"
Cue outrage from Blue Tribesmen who think that Muslims are not already profiled in counter-terrorism efforts...
