Presumptive presidential nominees Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton condemned the horrific mass shooting at Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando, which left 50 people dead and another 50 hospitalized.

On Twitter, Trump asked whether the U.S. will ever get "tough, smart & vigilant."

Horrific incident in FL. Praying for all the victims & their families. When will this stop? When will we get tough, smart & vigilant?

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 12, 2016

Appreciate the congrats for being right on radical Islamic terrorism, I don't want congrats, I want toughness & vigilance. We must be smart!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 12, 2016

Clinton said she is still waiting for more information.

Woke up to hear the devastating news from FL. As we wait for more information, my thoughts are with those affected by this horrific act. -H

— Hillary Clinton (@HillaryClinton) June 12, 2016

President Obama released a statement, and will speak at 1:30 p.m.

Other Democrats are already citing the violence in Orlando as a reason to restrict gun ownership. Sen. Bernie Sanders, who is still fighting Clinton for the Democratic nomination, reminded Chuck Todd that thinks automatic weapons should be illegal:

"It's horrific. It's unthinkable, and just hopes go out to those who were shot that they can recover, and I've got to tell you for 25 years now, I've believed that we should not be selling automatic weapons which are designed to kill people, and we've got to do everything we can on top of that to make sure that guns do not fall into the hands of people who should not have them. Criminals and people who are mentally ill, so that struggle continues."

Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe called for an end "to senseless gun violence."

I'm heartbroken by the news of sons & daughters lost last night in Orlando. Praying for victims, families & an end to senseless gun violence

— Terry McAuliffe (@GovernorVA) June 12, 2016

Connecticut Sen. Chris Murphy, also a Democrat, said Congress is complicit in the attack, given the institution's refusal to enact gun control legislation.

Congress's heartless, intentional silence has become a quiet message of endorsement to would be shooters contemplating mass murder.

— Chris Murphy (@ChrisMurphyCT) June 12, 2016

As the left prepares to use the tragedy as a pretext to abridge certain civil liberties—i.e. the Second Amendment—the right is preparing to use the tragedy as a pretext to abridge different civil liberties. During an appearance on Fox News, Former NYPD investigator Michael Solomon said we have to stop being "so politically correct" about terrorism. He reminded viewers that people in the 1950s were investigated for merely saying they were communists, implying that perhaps we should be doing the same to Muslims.

The Log Cabin Republicans—a pro-gay conservative group—called on Obama to condemn radical Islamic extremism.

Looks like Obama and Hillary, knowing that this was another Islamic terrorist attack, are being pretty restrained in going full on retard. The governor of Virginia and Berntard apparently have no self control at all.

The fact that Scumbag Terry occupies the same office that Patrick Henry and Thomas Jefferson once did is something that pisses me off on a weekly basis.

    2. Jon Lester   9 years ago

McAuliffe, as DNC chair, thought it was a good idea to force an early front-runner in 2004, and that's how we got W's own fraternity brother as the nominee. Kerry, of course, has gone on to facilitate "senseless gun violence" on a very large scale, in his capacity as SoS.

I think it's probably important for people who care about the Second Amendment to stand up and denounce homophobia, etc.

It isn't fair that people associate one with the other, and I don't generally save anything when there's a shooting at the gas station down the street.

It's sort of like expecting Muslims to denounce terror. Why should people who don't have anything to do with terrorism have to denounce every terrorist act--just because they're Muslims?

      I can see that logic.

I also know that anti-Muslim retards will use every single act of terrorism as an excuse to start using the government to violate the rights of Muslims. The charge that they condone terrorism because they're Muslims needs to be countered if they don't want that to happen.

We're in the same boat if we care about the Second Amendment. The progressives will paint us all as homicidal homophobes (and racists) every chance they get. If we don't want them to come after our guns, we better speak up.

      1. John   9 years ago

Imams all over America routinely denounce gays and there are multiple examples of Imams in the US saying gays should be killed. So when a Muslim goes out and shoots up a gay bar, yes Muslims have a duty to stand up and say "no that isn't part of our religion" and do something about the Imam who are saying it is. If they don't, then what reason is there to believe they don't condone this?

      2. Sevo   9 years ago

        "...we better speak up."

I'm very sorry he was the only armed person in that room.

        1. John   9 years ago

I always wonder what people who say things like "we can't expect every Muslim to denounce terror done in the name of their religion" would do if someone murdered a bunch of Bernie bros in the name of Libertarianism. Would they really say "I didn't support that and how dare you expect me to denounce the actions of a mad man" or would they come out immediately and condemn it to anyone who would listen and kick anyone who didn't do the same out of the movement? I would hope they would do the latter. Yet, somehow it is RACIST to expect Muslims to do the same.

"I'm very sorry he was the only armed person in that room."

          That's an excellent observation.

If and when they reopen, I hope they have armed security.

          1. John   9 years ago

Since the people who do this don't care if they die, that will at best keep the next attack from killing as many people. It might end up with the person being killed before they do any damage like what happened out in Dallas last summer. But it also might be the case that the terrorists just shoot the security first and then move on. Being armed doesn't solve all problems.

            1. Ken Shultz   9 years ago

So what do you want to do, John?

              1. John   9 years ago

That is a good question. How about we stop letting more Muslims into the country so there are fewer people who want to do this sort of thing than otherwise would? That would be a start.

The problem is Muslims. Any solution that doesn't address Muslims is not a solution. Its really that simple.

            2. Robert   9 years ago

There's only 1 effective police action I can think of in a case like this: When someone tells you they're loyal to ISIS, etc. as this guy said, then you assign at least 2 armed agents to follow him everywhere in public for the rest of his life, close enough to shoot him the instant he gets out of line. It's not illegal to say the things he said, so you can't do anything until he does something. But it's not illegal to be anywhere in public that other persons are allowed to be, so you can tail him. 1 agent on each side, so when he shoots one of the agents, the other shoots him. But he's still free to do anything that doesn't hurt anybody.

I believe there are few enough people who say these things that there are easily enough police in the world to follow them like that.

            3. The Other Libertarian   9 years ago

"Being armed doesn't solve all problems."

Very true, however it is THE best solution to THIS particular problem.

.......except when Muslims do it. They can kill all the faggots they want--and no body better call attention to the fact that killing faggots is a tenet of their religion.

        1. Tom Bombadil   9 years ago

Did you know that when a Muslim murders a fag, he must spend eternity getting butt-fucked by 76 homos? That 76 virgin myth refers to his anus (at least initially).

      4. ThomasD   9 years ago

Calling this homophobia is either intellectually lazy or just plain moronic.

It's not an irrational fear, it's a deeply held belief about morality and justice. Twisted and flawed yes, but not a phobia.

Can we lose that stupid term?

        1. SimonD   9 years ago

..no, because if we did that, the politicians and the media would have to actually look at the situation, and it's easier to just yell "GUNS!!, HOMOPHOBE!!, while ignoring 'Islamist' and 'Democrat'.

      5. ULOST   9 years ago

More wisdom from Ken Shultz who says, "It's sort of like expecting Muslims to denounce terror. Why should people who don't have anything to do with terrorism have to denounce every terrorist act--just because they're Muslims?"

F denouncing it because that does jack. How about I read about 1 mooslim ratting on the sons of bitches. Just 1. It is the least the ungrateful bastards can do for the country that has taken them in from their sand flea infested homelands. Back lash is a mother. How about that for a motivator for members of the religion of piece.. as in they will attempt to take us down piece by piece with a piece, pressure cooker, car etc..

  4. dajjal   9 years ago

Trump will restrict 2nd Amendment as well - according to his personal whim. He is no better than Hillary. They will both start up a War on Guns - that is Trump's intentional goal, and Hillary's (though she is too dumb to realize it). The solution here is to teach your children right and wrong. If they come to you and say, "I hate X", the proper response is to look them in the eye and say, "Do not kill X do you understand me?" And don't let them turn away until they assent. The same thing happened in San Bernardino where the father said, "Israel will be gone in a few years anyway. Don't worry about it." The problem is not Muslims, it's the Western Secular Caliphate that teaches kids, "You have a good heart, so if you do bad it's because of 'mental illness' or 'drug addiction' or 'radicalization by an extremist preacher'." Muslims tend to throw out formal moral training when they come to this country.

    1. Hyperion   9 years ago

Hillary has been very vocal about her intent to kill as much of the 2nd amendment as possible.

Where do get that Trump has the same intent? You say it's his plan, links?

    2. Jerryskids   9 years ago

It's often argued that the American murder rate is high because guns are more available here than in other countries. Democrats want to confiscate all guns, which is a dumb idea because only the law-abiding citizens would turn in their guns and the bad guys would be the only ones left armed. The Republicans walk the NRA line and refuse even limited restrictions.....I generally oppose gun control, but I support the ban on assault weapons and I support a slightly longer waiting period to purchase a gun. With today's Internet technology we should be able to tell within 72-hours if a potential gun owner has a record.
The America We Deserve, by Donald Trump, p.102 , Jul 2, 2000

You're an idiot if you think anything Donald Trump has ever said has the slightest bearing whatsoever on what he believes, except for anything he's ever said about how totally awesomely great Donald J Trump, the most perfect human being ever created by God, is.

  5. Ken Shultz   9 years ago

Regardless of whether you blame "assault weapons" or Islam, it's our Second Amendment and First Amendment rights that you're blaming.

Wouldn't it be nice if Trump were a true champion of the Second Amendment and Hillary were a true champion of the First? Unfortunately, Trump would throw the Second Amendment under the bus to get elected as fast as he could. They're both running against the First Amendment.

There ain't no way either one of 'em is about to let this crisis go to waste.

Re comments by VA governor: Maybe I'm being pedantic, but are the words "senseless" and "gun violence" automatically joined now, like "vast" and "majority"? I'd call a 3 year old picking up a gun and killing his brother senseless. I'd call some nut killing a singer senseless. But someone killing 50 people at a gay club had a reason for his actions that others share (see other comments here about the Imam advocating such) and may be a case of illogical "thinking", but I'm not sure it's "senseless."

Somehow this tragedy is all about him.

I remember on 9/11, there was a football player for the Aztecs who was interviewed. Their flight was diverted and the game cancelled because of it. He was quoted as saying, "[Our starting quarterback] is injured, and this will give him an extra week to heal. So it was really a blessing in disguise".

Thousands of people were burned to death, but, hey, it was also an answer to prayer if you're trying to get into the Fiesta Bowl?

      That's how Trump comes across.

No one was congratulating you because 50 people were gunned to death, Mr. Trump.

Ken Shultz says, "No one was congratulating you because 50 people were gunned to death, Mr. Trump."

No shit, Ken. Are you being that obtuse on purpose? Pretty sure the "congrats" was in reference to his previous stances on the issues. If anything he was going out of his way to not make it about him. Blinded by bias much?

  12. dajjal   9 years ago

You can easily identify the Trumpkin when they insist: "The Constitution is important. But the Second Amendment is the most fundamental of all our rights." In fact, speech, press, religion, assembly and a bunch of others are just as important, but they support gun rights because that's how they plan to take away ours.

    1. Ken Shultz   9 years ago

      I despise Trump.

I hope he beats Hillary because I despise her more.

The logic that I care more about the Second Amendment right now because I think it's more likely to come under intense assault in the wake of tragedy makes good sense to me.

But I don't think of myself as a Trumpkin. I suspect Trump people are just as likely to think our rights get in the way of progress. Many of them would register Muslims and deny them the right to buy guns through background checks system, I'm sure. See, both the First AND Second Amendments are the problem!

He reminded viewers that people in the 1950s were investigated for merely saying they were communists, implying that perhaps we should be doing the same to Muslims.

Or maybe he was John, implying that if we had shoved them damn fags back in the closet when they tried coming out this sort of thing couldn't have happened. I mean, it was two guys kisssing in public that triggered this whole thing and you damn sure wouldn't have seen two guys kissing in public back in the '50's or a bunch of gays congregating in a gay nightclub, would you?

    1. John   9 years ago

Yeah because I have said exactly that. I have never said this is a direct assault on our freedoms or anything.

Go fuck yourself Jerry. If anyone hates gays here it is people like you. You are the one who thinks that your ability to pose and virtue signal about your tolerance of Muslims is more important than doing anything to stop Muslims from murdering gays, not me.

God you are a loathsome shit bag. You are bigger shit bag than Frank and that is saying something.

The bomb dropping Western Secular Caliphate hopes to use incidents like this to restrict free speech: "This guy was radicalized by online extremist propaganda." No, he was stuck in a loveless marriage and wanted out and figured he'd take out a few people with him. But if they can restrict speech then this will create more violence and more excuses to 'reluctantly and after careful consideration' drop more bombs on the middle east. Even though our real enemies are Assad and Saudi Arabia, which funds the Maddrassas that create these fighters. For this reason we must reject calls to outlaw 'hate speech' and 'blasphemy' and of course religion too. Including the doctrine of the Western Secular Caliphate, whose shariah is more dangerous than can be dreampt of in the Islamic ideologies.

Horrific tragedies like these remind me how much I hate just about everyone in politics.

Trump, Sanders, Clinton, McAuliffe, Murphy, the Log Cabin Republicans, that Fox News "security" analyst, et al. ? fuck 'em all.

    1. Ken Shultz   9 years ago

There's a big difference between speech and action, though, right?

      1. John   9 years ago

Sure there is. But if I am saying "everyone has a duty to do this" and people go out and do that, "doesn't that make it a bit hard for me to say I don't approve of and support those actions"? Am I a murderer? No. But I sure as hell am someone who supports murder.

        1. Ken Shultz   9 years ago

I don't care about people saying obnoxious things.

That's for progressives to run around in circles with their panties in a wad because somebody said something upsetting.

Because somebody said something obnoxious is a great reason to call him an asshole.

          That's about it.

          1. John   9 years ago

So you don't make moral judgements about people based on what they say? You don't condem people for saying things that support evil?

It is no big deal to advocate murder because "you don't care about people saying obnoxious things".

You are not being serious here Ken.

            1. Ken Shultz   9 years ago

Oh, yeah, I make moral judgements based on what they say.

              And that's about it.

They say something assholish, I just might call them an asshole.

What else exactly do you want me to do about what other people say?

You want to get the law involved? You want to start doing something different than we're doing now because of what someone said?

              1. John   9 years ago

I expect to stand there with your thumb up your ass feeling smug until you get your head blown off. You want to sit around and not only allow these people to preach this shit in the country but also invite millions more just like them in, then you better be ready to either die or start conforming to their expectations, because they are not going to accept anything else.

                1. Ken Shultz   9 years ago

Well then be honest about that, John.

You're against First Amendment rights for Muslims.

Why go through all this and pretend it's something else?

                  1. VartAndelay   9 years ago

                    Check your pants, John .
You appear to have shit yourself.

This attack clearly had nothing to do with Islam, because Islam teaches that gay people should be thrown off buildings.

    1. commodious spittoon   9 years ago

That was more troubling than watching 9/11 victims jump to their deaths.

    2. John   9 years ago

Muslims countries all over the world have horrible laws regarding homosexuality. If there is a mosque in this country that accept openly gay Muslims, I have never heard of it. And there are multiple documented examples of Imams in the US advocating the murder of gays.

I wish one of these smart Cosmos who are convinced that this had nothing to do with Islam or Muslims would explain why that is. I join a religion that preaches the hatred of gays and I can't be associated with it when some nut goes out and murders a bunch of gays in the name of my religion? Really?

      1. Ken Shultz   9 years ago

I'm so glad you've come around on gay rights, John. So nice of you to stick up for them.

You're going to the gay friendly Baptist church, where, tomorrow?

Is there one anywhere in Virginia?

        1. John   9 years ago

Yeah, Ken i think murdering gays is wrong. It is just kind of how I roll. Why would you think otherwise? Oh, yeah, I think people should have the right to associate with who they want and shouldn't be sued out of business for not wanting to be part of a gay wedding. Yeah, Ken that is totally the same as wanting gays murdered.

In the mean time, what do you think of gays? You don't seem to concerned about their murder. You seem more concerned about Muslims and your gun rights. Fifty people were just murdered in cold blood for the crime of going to a gay club and you don't seem too concerned about it.

Would it fucking kill you to express some outrage or just take 30 seconds off from virtue signaling about how wonderful you think "RIGHTS" and Muslims are? Just this once?

          1. Ken Shultz   9 years ago

"Muslims countries all over the world have horrible laws regarding homosexuality."

            That's what you wrote.

You're against gay marriage, and you're against public accommodation. You support legal protections for discriminating against gay people.

You also pointed out a distinction between Muslims and Christian fundamentalists that isn't much of a difference--certainly not in what they SAY.

Yeah, I've got a problem with actually violating the rights of gay people (or anyone else for that matter), too. Hell, I'm against public accommodation--and still against discriminating against gay people even if doing so should be perfectly legal.

You see the difference between freaking out over what people say and having a problem with what people actually do, right?

            1. John   9 years ago

I don't believe in forced accommodation for anyone. And I don't support killing them or throwing them into prison the way Muslim countries do. If you think not having forced public accommodation laws is the same as laws that throw gays in prison or kill them, then you are a morally stunted idiot Ken.

No difference between Christians and Muslims? Just ignore the 50 dead bodies in the corner. There is an enormous difference. No Christian country, not even Russia, treats gays as badly as the average Muslim country and no Christians are out murdering gays for being gay in public. Gays are routinely murdered in Muslim countries.

You don't seem to have much of a problem with Muslims murdering gays. Here is a case where a Muslim murdered 50 gays in the name of his religion and you can't take one post and express your anger and outrage over it. Everything is one giant equivocation and false moral equivalency.

You are unable to express any real outrage over this. For you it is just an opportunity to lecture everyone on how important your rights are and how Christians are just as bad. But you accuse me of not really liking gays. I am no better than that guy who did this.

Go die in fire you moral fucking midget. You disgust me.

      2. EscherEnigma   9 years ago

"If there is a mosque in this country that accept openly gay Muslims, I have never heard of it."
Probably because you're not a gay Muslim looking for a place to pray. A quick google search shows there are plenty.

"[...] there are multiple documented examples of Imams in the US advocating the murder of gays."
Again, you don't hear about Christian preachers doing this because you don't look. Heck, just in response to the massacre there are several Christian preachers saying that their biggest regret is that the guy didn't kill more.

Fact is, it's unfair for me, and others, to hold Christians (as a group) responsible for what Christians (as individuals) do. And it's unfair for me, and others, to hold Muslims (as a group) responsible for what Muslims (as individuals) do.

You really sure you want to change that standard?

  19. Derpetologist   9 years ago

Omar pledged allegiance to ISIS just before the attack, just like the shooters in San Bernadino:

    http://heavy.com/news/2016/06/.....ispatcher/

Soon, soon, you will see the wondrous sight?.A fierce conflict and you will see.
In the heart of your abode, there shall be the battles?..for your destruction, my sword has been sharpened.

We have marched by night, to cut and behead?..By the knife of revenge, targeting those who deserve it.
With the specters of the night and the youth of terror?..and an explosion of woe, that he may be defeated.

It is impossible to wake people who are pretending to be asleep.

  20. Eye8apie   9 years ago

We know this happened because of guns. Not a peaceful religion. We have to ask ourselves, what did we do,as a country, to cause this fine young man to act out in such a way? People need access to free healthcare, education, housing,a living wage, wi-fi, cell phones, and anything else we feel is a right. White privilege is a problem that must be addressed. Black lives matter. 99%, safe spaces, speech codes, umm, am I missing anything? Wait, what was the question again?

There's something grossly-awesome about that level of Hubris. Its the same crass opportunism as any Democrat politician when they try to turn the issue to 'gun control'... only for Trump, instead of pumping his 'pet issue' (ban muslim refugees?), he pumps "Me".

"YES I KNOW I WAS RIGHT ALL ALONG BUT STOP MAKING SUCH A BIG DEAL OUT OF IT"

its the faux-magnanimous nature of a salesman. "I know what you're thinking?! $19.99 is WAY too cheap for this, right? BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE!!"

It is of course shameless. It is also funny as hell, especially in contrast to the nauseating earnestness of his opponents.

Calling this "gun violence" is like calling the KKK's lynching of a black man as a "vigilante murder". Or maybe the kids dying in North Korea are victims of "childhood hunger".

These are extraordinarily stupid people. Their leader is Barack Obama, who is also unintelligent. The only difference between him and Trump is that BO hides his ignorance with pretty words and appealing baritone.

    1. Robert   9 years ago

I don't get it. Why wouldn't it be a vigilante murder & childhood hunger?

  26. GamerFromJump   9 years ago
