Brickbat: That's Real Abuse

Bald Head Island, North Carolina, police threw Julie Mall to the ground, one of them put a knee in her back and handcuffed her and they took her to jail where she was held in leg irons. Her crime? She was charged with child abuse and intoxication after she allowed her 11-year-old son to drive the family back to their rented cottage from the beach on a golf cart. Mall and witnesses say she was not intoxicated. Prosecutors dropped charges after the arresting officer failed to show up at two different dates for her trial.

My parents would have been summarily executed for the things machinery I operated as a child. But this seems like a reasonable police response policy for a resort town to have against its tourist guests.
When I was that age i used to shoot guns and use lawn mowers. Cut grass form money.Clearly I was abused.
but apparently not enough, report for mandatory beatings...
If a kid on gulf cart without a license is the kind of thing that requires police involvement, I can only imagine the horrors that the local 4H, FFA, and BSA might cause.
I'm old enough to remember when High school age kids would toss shotguns into the back of a friend's car, and that was considered completely normal behavior.
Wake up sleepy head.
"for a resort town to have against its tourist guests."
My thoughts exactly. Someone should link that story on TripAdvisor for that town. You might actually see a cop get fired.
Some one did.
Pete and Re-Pete are in a boat. Pete jumps out of the boat to go swimming. Who's left in the boat?
Tulpa?
Hitler?
Fredo Corleone
The guy with a harelip?
I dunno, but he sure as hell better have life jackets, a noise-making device, boat registration, and a fishing license.
Zing.

"after the arresting officer failed to show up"
should have asked an 11 year old for a lift
I would've guessed Bald Head was a peninsula not an island.
more of a state of mind actually...
but hairless...
and gutless...
This story reminds me of the two bald-headed guys that got together and made an ass of themselves.
It's true. Our parents would have been ruined in today's world.
We were operating all sorts of machines that probably deemed 'dangerous' by today's pussy standards.
That cop would have fainted at half the shit we did.
Oh yeah. Fuck him. Shows lack of respect as well as a being an arrogant coward by not showing up.
But that generation raised the rulemakers and law enforcers of today, so they must have done us all wrong.
Where is the hat tip to Lenore?
Prosecutors dropped charges after the arresting officer failed to show up at two different dates for her trial.
With all due respect, why didn't they drop the charges after the *first* failure to show?
"Oh, you know Officer Fred. Let's give him *three* chances."
Officer Fred, Officer Fred. Always lying in bed eating his bread with his fat head made of lead. That's Officer Fred. When you need justice, don't call Officer Fred. Officer Fred. He's eating bread in his bed. Officer Fred is well fed! But don't let him catch you pulling a sled or else you'll be better off dead. He's Officer Fred. Always well-rested and fed!
Dr. Seuss is not dead!
wish he was instead?
To Whom It May Concern: Commenting in the Judge "Lying" post is clobbered.
Noticed the same. Too bad the staff so rarely reads these comments.
Eh. I dunno.
