Bernie Sanders Encourages Californians to Legalize Marijuana This Fall
Ballot initiative in the works.

Californians will likely be voting this November whether to join a handful of other states in legalizing (and regulating) recreational marijuana use. Polls look positive so far.
But before November, California's got its primaries on June 7. Bernie Sanders has declined to drop out of the race and grant the nomination to Hillary Clinton, though it seems unlikely he's going to win. So the campaigns have swung over to the Golden State.
Today, Sanders is speaking at a rally in East Los Angeles, introduced by actor Rosario Dawson (resulting in Tommy Chong being shown the door). Danny Freeman, embedded with the campaign for NBC, tweeted out from the speech Sanders' somewhat federalist support for marijuana legalization. The full quote:
I have introduced legislation and will implement as president, taking marijuana out of the federal controlled substance act. Now all you know, all you know, that the legalization of marijuana, that decision is made on the statewide level. You know that four states plus D.C. have already made that decision. You all know there's going to be a ballot item on in California in November. And I think it makes sense to legalize marijuana at this particular point. So if I were here in your state, I would vote yes on that issue.
Clinton right now has a healthy lead over Sanders in California. As Anthony Fisher noted earlier in the month, Sanders' refusal to abandon the campaign is partly an attempt to push the Democratic Party away from the remnants of drug warrior mentalities. Clinton's criminal justice plan calls for loosening federal laws on marijuana use, but not eliminating them. She would reschedule marijuana to be considered the same as methadone, Percoset, and other opioids. Given the current panic over opioids, it's not clear that's going to lead to better outcomes. She would, at least, not interfere with states that decide to legalize marijuana.

I see what she's doing there. That way marijuana can be caught up in the current opioid epidemic raging the land.
That's silly, the pots is way more dangerous than those other drugs. Opiates at least have a legitimate use, but the pots is only to get high! Why do you think they call it dope!
Marijuana is not a gateway drug. It...

....holds the door.
It's a gateway to Oreos with double stuff, man!
@Hyperion,,,,,Only dopes call it "dope" Dope.
Hey Bernie, is it gonna be free marijuanas?
Well, i suppose it's good that he isn't opposing it because the evil capitalists might make money off of it.
A pot in every kettle and it's a free kettle!

Just like Obama
hillary will say anything, and do nothing...

So Tommy Chong didn't get to hold the door for Bernie.
RE: Bernie Sanders Encourages Californians to Legalize Marijuana This Fall
Let's Comrade Bernie some credit for the legalization of weed in Kalifornia.
However, I have a tendency to believe he would also approve another unnecessary and overreaching bureaucracy when in came to collecting the pot taxes.
More bad news.
A few years ago the citizens of Kalifornia turned down an initiative legalizing (or semi-legalizing) MJ.
Talk about a fucked up state!

All that does is allow doctors to write prescriptions for it. The WOD on pot would continue completely unabated, except for prescribed pot. And I wonder what sort of requirements the feds could put on growers/distributors as dealers in Schedule II substances. Since there's no such thing as a legal dealer in Schedule I substances like pot, you can't regulate the fuck out of them. But Schedule II, now, that's a different story.
I do appreciate the skeptical take on this in the article, though.
Rescheduling it would be good in the very limited sense that they would at least be complying with the actual controlled substances law. It's quite obvious that pot doesn't fit in schedule 1 at this point. But you are right it wouldn't have any effect on the war on drugs, nor would it make it easier for states to legalize as they see fit. Not to mention the federal drug laws are almost all unconstitutional anyway.
I'm imagining all the legal Washington mom-and-pop grow operations producing a Schedule II drug.
Hell, I'm already getting daily reports about the pesticide levels in your legal weed with the steady drum of regulation beating in the background.
No, that does not allow doctors to write prescriptions for it. Doctors, and anybody else, are allowed to do that already, since it's just a communication. What it does is allow prescriptions for it to be filled at the pharmacy.
I think Percocet's schedule 3 both federally & in every state whose controls I know of. That means no mfg. quota. There was a move, which may be under way, to move those combination drugs to control schedule 2, though.
It makes sense Sanders would not only want to legalize drugs but to encourage their use - the only way Sanders makes any sense is if you're extremely wasted. Hint: go easy on the hallucinogens - that lizard tongue thing he does along with the orchestra conducting, the angry yelling, and the mad scientist hair is a guaranteed bad trip, man.
Microdosing LSD is a bit of thing now.
To anyone interested in the Re-Legalization of Cannabis Sanders is the only choice for President. Hillary is just more of the same stalling tactics , research it for a few more generations.
Remember, Hillary doesn't Inhale,,,she Sucks !
