Apparently Trump's own progeny will not be able to vote for him in New York because they didn't register as Republicans in time.
Saves them the embarrassment.
Hello.
Good for them.
Just because your old man is in politics doesn't mean you should change a damn thing. If you don't belong to a party, or even don't vote, then just keeping on should be fine.
Well, they could vote for him in the Democratic primary. 😀
No, "independents" in NY can't vote in any primary.
Which, frankly, is the way it should be.
And the parties should pay for their own primaries...
I think it was a vote fraud joke.
HA-ha!

my best friend's step-aunt makes $64 /hour on the computer . She has been unemployed for nine months but last month her paycheck was $21229 just working on the computer for a few hours. read this article ????????????? Click this link http://goo.gl/JNLxe5
Ridiculous. And sad.
Any particular link? Or just any and all of them?
Definitely all of them.
If you must know......
Donald Trump says CIA Director John Brennan's promise that agents would refuse to bring back waterboarding is "ridiculous."
The "dog whisperer" Cesar Millan will not face animal cruelty charges in a case where a dog attacked a pig during the filming of an episode of his show.
Shouldn't the dog be the one charged?
*Tsst*
Wait. Was there *lipstick* on that pig?
Are you saying it went "rogue?"
No. But might it have been, you know, asking for it?
*squints menacingly*
It went *rouge*.
"The Dog's defense attorney, Ken Goldstein, had this to say. 'Pigs are unclean animals, and this pig in particular taunted my client in a very porcine and offensive way.'"
And this pig didn't shoot him? Color me surprised.
No but the pig arrested the cameraman for interfering with official business.
Damn your nimble fingers!
The dog attacked before the pig could shoot him.
TOO SLOW OLD MAN
Cross post from Bailey's article...
I just heard a podcast interview with a guy named Daryl Davis.
I hadn't heard of him. If you haven't either, I strongly recommend listening to that episode or reading up on the guy. He's a freaking American hero in my book. Rather than whining about safe spaces or trying to shut down free speech, he has engaged with members of the KKK, going so far as to attend rallies. And he is credited by many former klansmen as being the reason they ultimately left the KKK. He puts the outrage class and cowards to shame.
Cool.
That is because the outrage class isnt really interested in shutting down people like the KKK or in defending victim classes. This guy is.
That guy is bad ass.
I remember reading about him a few years ago, probably from some other commenter here. It's very impressive.
Out there working to solve a problem that doesn't exist.
??
Goldman Sachs has agreed to pay the Department of Justice $5 billion to settle claims they misled investors during the housing crisis.
*And* to release the Hillary speeches, right? RIGHT?!
Are these "fines?" Or hush money? Or bribes? Or blackmail?
Penaltaxes.
Taxes to keep certain executives out of the pen.
Donald Trump says CIA Director John Brennan's promise that agents would refuse to bring back waterboarding is "ridiculous."
Does Trump not care what waterboarding does to a toupee?
Actually, Trump is right about that. No way CIA agents, one and all, would refuse to waterboard if they got the green light from on high.
Rediculous, because John Brennan is not Top Man enough for Donaldo.
The "dog whisperer" Cesar Millan will not face animal cruelty charges in a case where a dog attacked a pig during the filming of an episode of his show.
Awfully nice of the cop to decline pressing charges.
Babe wasn't in the Sheep Dog Union.
Apparently Trump's own progeny will not be able to vote for him in New York because they didn't register as Republicans in time.
BAD.
*Tsst*
I'm not sure how, but that's racist.
Speciesist, actually. But, yeah, po-tay-to, po-tah-to.
*ducks, runs from room*
His handle is already 100% mega-racist.
They were not aware that Daddy had changed parties?
I don't know why, but I read that as "panties".
Goldman Sachs has agreed to pay the Department of Justice $5 billion to settle claims they misled investors during the housing crisis.
Finally, those poor regulators will receive the restitution they deserve.
It's completely absurd. "You misled investors and they lost a lot of money unfairly therefore you must pay us money even though we didn't catch you misleading investors at the time".
Would this money Goldman Sachs is paying out happen to come from money that would otherwise be used to pay their investors?
It's almost like, no matter what happens, the government always benefits.
"Apparently Trump's own progeny will not be able to vote for him in New York because they didn't register as Republicans in time."
Whew, I'm glad they got this in. We might have only had 1 Donald Trump update without it.
Goldman Sachs has agreed to pay the Department of Justice $5 billion to settle claims they misled investors during the housing crisis.
Because, after the housing bubble, the Justice Department was hardest hit?
NPR be all like:
When Is It OK To Profit From Cooking Other Cultures' Food?
At its heart, food is about identity ? about where we came from ? which is why the topic of cuisine and who cooks it can be so personal and complicated for some.
We're just kicking off this discussion. Over the coming weeks, we plan to keep digging into these ideas of where food, race and culture overlap ? and we want to hear from you. Let us know what questions are on your radars. We're at @mgodoyh and @katchow.
Remember: Race is a social construct but for some reason cultural appropriation based entirely on race is still possible.
Even though it's a meaningless social construct. There is no contradiction between these two claims.
Of course I'd find you here, bringing up racial issues. Jesus, give it a rest already.
Just what I'd expect from a dirty Texan. We don't take kindly to your type around here.
your type
You mean, tall, taciturn, and rogueishly handsome?
Nope. Japanese.
More like reptilian.
So Tex-Mex food is banned unless you're a Mexican Texan.
So . . . an American?
Real BBQ is not made with beef. /the rest of the Country
Yet, they insist on making chili with beans...
The rest of the country is WRONG!
Anyone can make pig taste good. That is why everyone argues about different types of fancy ketchup to put on the pig.
Turning brisket into candy is a true art form.
Is all this Post Modernism completely devoid of substance? Meaning, if there was a dearth of stimulus, like in a Siberian tundra, would it persist?
Tweet at them as hard as you can Irish, you're our only hope.
C'mon waffles- you totally missed the "Obi White" joke there...
Well if this ever results in a discussion you have with one of your adult friends (I assume you're older than me), you can just mention how Cal Tjader's contributions made latin jazz musicians much more accessible to the American market.
Okay, I don't care research if it really resulted in that... he's just one of my favorite jazz musicians.
*to research
(I'm assuming he really is responsible for a good cash flow fueling latin jazz music in America and abroad)
(I sound too white if I say "he really is responsible for the emerging popularity of latin jazz in America" but it's a lot easier to type and understand to me)
At its heart, food is about identity
Pretty sure that, at its heart, it's about nutrition and, if you're lucky, taste.
^Get a load of this enabler's horseshit!!!
/I bet Irish just luuuuvs your screen name, too!
😉
When Is It OK To Profit From Cooking Other Cultures' Food?
Always?
Even if it's deep dish?
Swing and a miss. Deep dish is no culture's food.
Today I learned Chicago is no-culture.
No, deep dish is a hot dish made famous by Chicago-ans, it's just not pizza.
Pan fried fish is not fish.
What should we do with panfish?
When you can sell more if it than "they" can ?
which is why the topic of cuisine and who cooks it can be so personal and complicated for some
No, the reason is because a there is a part of our society that rewards victimization.
I am totally ashamed to be a white boy from Appalachia that got paid $4.50/hr to cook bad Tex-Mex food in Ohio in 1983...
/or not
It's amazing to see this bullshit developing in real time. Last night, I mentioned new game from Blizzard.
"I was gonna preorder it, but then I saw they put Egyptian woman into stereotypical Indian clothing"
"...Symmetra? She's Indian. Egyptian character is in uniform"
"Yeah, well, Blizzard was always terrible, trolls in Warcraft are such Jamaican stereotypes!"
Seriously, what the hell is wrong with Americans?! You lot are the only ones who worry about this shit.
trolls in Warcraft are such Jamaican stereotypes!
I'm not a WoWser, but . . . what?
They speak with broadly Jamaican accent (like Dwarves are Scottish).
They are into Voodoo (which is not Jamaican in the least).
They don't smoke pot, play reggae, bobsled or wear dreadlocks, which is all the Jamaican stereotypes I know.
I have no idea either.
They speak with broadly Jamaican accent
Going off of the screencaps and whatnot I have seen of WoW, that's . . . hilariously inspired.
Stay away from da voodoo, mon.
This is more than you need to know about troll accents.
Oh hell yeah!
Funny, above was in Dota stream and Valve doesn't get the shit for second-hand cultural appropriation (ripping off characters from Blizzard, who are ripoff masters).
Not for long, tovarisch. Enjoy
You haven't been to Europe or Australia lately, I take it?
Those places are like Shangri-La for Canadians.
I follow news from UK and I don't see idiots losing shit over cultural appropriation specifically. It's more no-platforming speech suppression, and finding racism everywhere.
Or I should say, not yet - I expect the idiocy to spread. Shit, did you know Black Lives Matter Toronto exists and is meeting the Premier of the province?! Because our cops are totally into shooting black people.
I just assumed the UK was already worse than the USA - we are always playing catch up with everything horrible that is normal there.
They totally would, if they could find one.
If it weren't for culinary appropriation, England would have no culinary culture at all.
To be fair, the rest of the world is too busy killing one another over imagined offenses. Jaw-jaw is better than war-war, eh?
At its heart, food is about identity ? about where we came from ? which is why the topic of cuisine and who cooks it can be so personal and complicated for some.
Oh, FFS!
"At its heart, clothing is about identity ? about where we came from ? which is why the topic of fabric and who sews it can be so personal and complicated for some."
"At its heart, sex is about identity ? about where we came from ? which is why the topic of fucking and who does it can be so personal and complicated for some."
At its heart, language is about identity ? about where we came from ? which is why the topic of multi-lingualism and who speaks it can be so personal and complicated for some.
That's very true. That very topic has been fodder for a few articles by moi.
Awesome. Language is a hell of a lot more essential to culture than ethnic food.
Says who? Food* is fucking delicious in any language.
*Unless it's something like hotdish, which, as far as I can tell, is made from tater tots, green beans, and semen.
If it is "cultural appropriation" to make another culture's food, it is also the same for speaking its language.
And every food was derived from some other culture at some point anyway. These people are insane.
Still doesn't answer the question of who would appropriate the fucking monstrosity I linked to above.
You did not just make fun of hotdish! How anyone can stoop to such levels of idiocy is beyond me.
Next you will say that us Minnesodans are food morons because we think sloppy joes are made with ground beef and ketchup, or that extra mild salsa is not a good thing.
I'm convinced that's photoshopped.
I've been to that part of the world.
Ketchup is "extra mild salsa" up there.
How do make something extra mild?
You put two "milds" in it?
QUIT MAKING FUN OF US!
See, Pace also makes its own version of Extra Mild. That is just how lucrative the Norwegian market is to the salsa market.
WHAT'S WRONG WITCHU?
This is where salsa is supposed to begin.
That isn't even red! Everyone knows salsa is supposed to be red.
Way to other salsa negra, bro.
Or green
Apparently it mostly tomato puree, water, some onions and a little salt.
Yep. Food doesn't *quite* slice up reality like language does.
If you're a retarded leftist, the key is to use the word "complicated" a lot.
That way, people will think you're intelligent, and if the crap you say is incoherent nonsense, that's just you being complex.
"Hsst. Don't stare. That person is *** lowers voice *** complicated."
"I find your ideas about food and culture to be shallow and pedantic."
Is anal sex cultural appropriation from the Greeks?
or Turks.
If the SJWs are already defending segregation in the name of safe spaces, how long before they oppose miscegenation as sexual appropriation?
My eyes hurt from rolling up so hard.
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
"Mike Sakasegawa ?@sakeriver
@katchow When it's good, or feels authentic, or innovative but respectful, that feels OK to me. When it's bad it feels like exploitation."
In other words, whether or not you're a racist when cooking some other culture's food is dependent upon whether or not you're a good cook. If you're a bad cook you're an evil bigot.
No no no. It depends on whether or not this guy *likes* it.
Interesting, I dated a Mexican girl who sucked at cooking Mexican food.
That's, like, Irish-level racist.
You buried the lede, bro,
WHY STEM SKOOL NO MAKE HE LOGIKAL?!?
Holy shit that guy tweets a lot.
At its heart, food is about identity ? about where we came from
Only if you're a total fucking retard.
"At its heart, food is about identity..."
Or maybe that it just tastes fucking good.
Jesus Christ on His Goddamned Cross these people are mouthbreathing fuckwits.
I don't care what you say, there is no reason Hiroyuki Sakai should have won Battle Salmon over Jo?l Bruant. That was bullshit.
Why would ever not be OK?
"Look, sometimes I identify as a Louisiana cajun guy. Sometimes I identify as a Greek guy. Sometimes as an African-American. It's a spectrum, and it's fluid."
"...and speaking of fluid, try my barbecue sauce."
I ate Korean food for lunch today. I guess I should go throw it up now as penance. Or maybe only half of it, since it was "Korean fusion"?
Silly, the only way to purge yourself of racism is to become an insane progressive and donate to NPR.
You'll get a tote bag out of it, too.
Korean tacos are the most delicious injustice man has ever perpetrated against man.
I guess I should go throw it up now as penance.
And mis-appropriate Roman culture?! You *bastard*!
Couldn't be bothered to read the article... but have the idiots who are suggesting this shit realized how fucking rascist they are? Both myself and my wife work in fields that regularly have us interacting with newbs to Canada. They always take great pride in sharing their foods with people, always. I once mentioned to a lady (trad. muslim) at the end of a potluck meal when she was pushing about a quart of some kind of hammer sauce at me, that it was gonna go to marinate a pork loin that was going in the smoker, she thought that was hilarious and made a point to ask how good it was after.... It was delicious by the way...
I appropriate Korean food all the time.
Me and some co workers brought Korean take out back to the office one day for lunch and apparently the smell offended everyone so much that my boss banned Korean food.
At its heart, food politics is about identity ? about where we came from ? which is why the topic of cuisine whining and who cooks it is a victim can be so personal and complicated for some.
1. At its heart, food is about getting calories and nutrients into the body.
2. If we're going by some nebulous social sense of what food is 'about,' I'd say the sharing of cuisine is stronger and more prevalent than any 'identity' born from it. There's a great succo recipe in my family that we all know and appreciate, and our shared experience with it is inseparable from us as a family, but it's valued more as something to share with new people. The food that you're most proud of is probably also the food you jump to share with others.
You divisive, selfish morons.
You are taking this too seriously. White Progressives of the sort that work at and listen to NPR want more than anything to distinguish themselves from other white people. They want to wake up every day and know that they are morally superior and enlightened compared to lesser white people. So, they spend a lot of time finding excuses to believe that. The problem is few people are overtly racist anymore. The goood old days of white Progs looking down their nose at rednecks and Southerners dropping N bombs and saying blacks shouldn't be able to vote are over. So they have to go to ever greater lengths to find ways of asserting their virtue supremacy. That is all this is about. A new way for white progs to feel superior to other white people.
Of course in the good old days the progs, rednecks and Racist Southerners where all Democrats and supported Woodrow and FDR.
I don't know what "succo" was a typo for, but I initially read that as "a great stucco recipe", & figured your family must need a lot of dentistry.
You're supposed to spit out the wire mesh.
At its heart, food is about identity
???? Food is about not starving to death.
"Skateboarding in an Empty Waterpark Looks Like the Most Fun Possible"
Old farts in their lawn chairs hardest hit.
I would fall down and sue everyone involved and not involved.
So Scott, that alt-text: being sarcastic, or what your ad guys speak every morning?
Apparently Trump's own progeny will not be able to vote for him in New York because they didn't register as Republicans in time.
"You're disowned!"
More bitching about Citizens United.
Don't knock it till you've tried it!
"One sign read 'Things go better without Koch,'"
That's not what your mom says. Hey-o!
Things go better without Koch
I'll need some video evidence for that.
Yawn. Another lesbian rights march, I assume.
Because I can't imagine any gay men saying that.
"Koch. For those times where your last bowel movement really took it out of you.%
"Koch, not even once."
Things go better without Koch
Ici, c'est Pepsi.
Should have added the link.
Frog-rejects have neither!
Every Suicide Squad trailer is more worth watching than Batman v. Superman.
I don't go in much for blondes, but that Margot Robbie...well, I'd macroagress against her, ifyouknowwhatImeanandIthinkyoudo.
I'm saying I'd like to have rough sex with her.
I would drink her bathwater.
I would bounce a basketball through a minefield just to smell where she peed.
I haven't laughed out loud at a comment in some time, but this one got me.
I only usually laugh out loud at my comments, but like Gojira, I lol'ed for sure. Nicely done, Machine.
You...win?
If for no other reason that Margot Robbie.
But, yeah, it looks like it could be really good.
I saw BvS last weekend (thanks to free tickets, because the only way I would ever see this movie is if I didn't have to pay for it).
My expectations were pretty low, but it was just *astoundingly* bad. Like, I'd like to offer an explanation of the many things I hated about it but I would literally be here all day. A thousand times while watching it I found myself thinking about the Lego Batman trailer that preceded it, and wondering, "That movie looks like fun, why couldn't I be watching that movie instead of this dreck?"
It's because Zack Snyder is a garbage director for garbage people who like watching garbage.
I like 300. But, then, he didn't do anything but flip through the comic pages real fast and then film what he saw.
Better or worse than the new Star Wars joint?
I rather liked the Force Awakens. I know some people had issues with it but it's at least a coherent story with some likeable characters. BvS is just a baffling, miserable mess of a film.
I watched the new Star Wars last week. It was...not good. All the guff a bunch of y'all give JJ Abrams I am 100% on board with now. It got to a point where I realized he was no longer paying homage to the original, he just doesn't have an original creative thought in his head.
He was just playing it super duper safe, is all.
I heard he got Armageddon II because Michael Bay isn't the worst anymore.
A reviewer for the New York Post I think said that he didn't want to say the movie was bad but when Ed Wood was shown it in Purgatory he said "really, there needs to be standards".
I have no idea what is going on in that trailer.
More important is the new Game of Thrones trailer. THAT is getting me pumped up. Yes, that is a euphemism.
Yassssss, it's the first season where I don't know what is going to happen!
Tyrion captured one of Dany's dragons and discovers that Ned Stark is still alive.
Batman v Superman was a very good movie.
I have no interest in Suicide Squad at all. If I wanted to watch a bunch of scary crazy people plotting to wreck the country, I'd be watching the primaries more closely.
"Batman v Superman was a very good movie."
False
"If I wanted to watch a bunch of scary crazy people plotting to wreck the country, I'd be watching the primaries more closely."
Valid point
See? This is what happens in a regulationless hell-hole like Texas.
Any progs reading this, take note: you don't want to live here, and should move somewhere else. Someplace without corrupt leaders. Like Chicago, for example, where regulations make sure everything is kept above board.
Exactly. Texas is a cesspool of right wing hate. Nobody should ever want to leave a safe, progressive paradise like Chicago or Detroit or Newark for it.
Hell, I'll learn line dancing if a display of it will convince the progs to stay away/leave.
/yee-haw!
That's a bridge too far for me. I'm actually in favor of tossing line dancers out of the state on principle.
Well, then, bull riding. Whatever works.
/don't even own boots
To quote a hot blonde Texan chick I dated once, "dancing is like sex. Line dancing is masturbation."
She was as much fun as you would imagine and crazy as a sprayed roach. Everyone should spend part of their 20s with a person like that.
Poor Will Smith. I wish he had been armed. Buckeye nation lost a great guy.
O-H...
I saw that yesterday and had a sad. If I was the responding paramedic, I wouldn't have been able to help it. Trying to keep him awake, I'd have kept saying, "Haaang on Sloopy, Sloopy hang on..."
New Orleans is such a cesspool. The whole thing is just terrible.
New OrleansLouisiana is such a cesspool. The whole thing is just terrible.
FTFY
That is a bit much Sidd, its not all bad. In fact there is a lot of good stuff here.
I've spent maybe three weeks in LA. I got more traffic tickets in that time than everywhere else combined even though I didn't have my car for 3 days (it was stolen).
Yeah that's kinda ignorant.
Louisiana is full of good people who you would (should) love to have as your neighbor if you knew what you were talking about.
There are 48 other states I would choose not to live in.
Louisiana needs to be quarantined for the good of humanity.
Lemme guess....Natchitoches Parrish? For the tickets, I mean.
Fuck that place.
While I'm not gonna go full-tilt with Sidd's nastiness, Ol' Lou has a shitthy reputation. When your Texas CHL refresher class warns you that LA police are demanding to see bills of sale/receipts for guns (on legally carried guns, usually by out-of-towners) during traffic stops, and confiscating those where receipts aren't produced....Fuck 'em.
Yeah, it's basically civil forfeiture, but what was being passed on to the class was that these were usually not documented, or they counted on owners not getting the receipts shown with 30 days(?), so, "Free gun for mister officer!".
"New Orleans is such a cesspool. The whole thing is just terrible."
I keep praying for another Katrina...
I was going to say that the only reason you had yet to appear on thread is that you were sharpening your Bowie before hunting Sidd down.
The thing is, there was another major hurricane right after Katrina that missed NOLA by this much. If it had hit NOLA, I'm betting all talk about "reconstructing" the underwater bits would have died out pretty quick.
Sure it's got a lot of run-down poor areas, but I love New Orleans. My wife and I really attending street fairs/festivals, and there's something going on there every week. Plus it's colorful and just seems...different from the endless dreary endless ranch-style suburbs everywhere else. It has more character than, say, Plano, where I live.
*really enjoy attending
I love it too. But it is a cesspool.
It could be worse, you could live in Arlington.
Plano has plenty of character.
It's just mainly whitebread suburban culture with enough black high school football players to have a good team most years.
nttiawwt
/OneOut from Clear Lake
Clear Lake - more diverse than Plano! With lots more boats, too! And restaurants run by mob-related folks, all concentrated in one handy tourist trap.
Literally everywhere, including Stepford, has more character than Plano.
Yeah, and, for places, "character" usually translates to, "A lot of weird assholes live here". Austin, for example.
And, definitely for NOLA.
My daughter told me this yesterday, and then followed it up with "That's why we need stricter gun laws." I had to bite my tongue to keep from becoming a bad example for my grandkids.
How about stricter laws against murder? Would those work?
Just ask her how prohibition has worked for drugs. Then ask her how you're going to get it to work for the most useful means of self defense ever invented.
New Game of Thrones trailer.
Nerd
You're just mad i joked on your mom upthread.
Well, that's not all i did on your mom.
She'll be upset to know you're still not capitalizing your I's.

New CRTC $25 basic TV package spells end of cheaper Rogers cable deal
CRTC says all cable companies in Canada must offer a basic package that costs no more than $25 / month. So guess what happens to Roger's $19 / month offering?
There's a lesson here, I just know it...
Ottawa needs to set the law at $19 a month, not $25 a month?
Looks like Finnigan's waking to the consequences of bureaucratic over-regulation, right?
Right?
*crickets chirping*
Okay, seriously though, what legitimate reason would government (any government, just pick one) have for fixing the price of cable TV?
Brazilian scientists find new Zika-linked brain disorder in adults
Ruh-roh. 8-(
We can all get sick and have retarded kids because God forbid we do anything sensible like bring back DDT. No, mother Gaia is sacred.
Zika virus is all-natural. DDT is man-made. Therefore it's better to give infants microcephaly and adults brain disorders than to eradicate Zika-carrying mosquitos.
Did someone suggest DDT? Won't someone think of the birds?
No, the line is that Zika doesn't exist, and is just an excuse to explain diseases caused by GMOs. GMOs which, despite being consumed globally, apparently only harm people in areas which has the Zika virus.
Also, isn't naming any virus something that starts with "Z" just asking for trouble?
Leap Manifesto: Alberta NDP 'had nothing to do with this nonsense'
The full demise of the NDP can't come fast enough.
See, sometimes I want to use Canada as counterargument to "mob will always just vote themselves more free shit" as the Free Shit party never won a federal election.
Then they do something like this, and I go "well yeah, but the Free Shit party is also Balls Deep Crazy party so it may not mean much."
Even if it creates a permanent Liberal majority?
I advocate for the full demise of all parties.
What kind of liberals are the Liberals?
The bad kind.
Well that explains a lot.
Anti-capitalism? So, she gives her books away for free?
Every one of the watermelons or sjws or BLM or Lgbturibvm activists or...whatever...every damn one of them eventually admit that they are anti-capitalist. It is no accident that all this insanity is associated with the left. It really is just old fashioned demoralization...cultural marxism.
Nuh huh, spouting on about how much you hate rednecks and socons will convince them of the libertarian ways at the cocktail parties.
Leap Manifesto? Does this advocate a Great Leap Forward?
They use words like 'manifesto' and get upset when we call them anti-capitalist, Marxist buffoons.
They want energy sources controlled by the "community", more free shit, ending "austerity", financial transaction tax, more corporate taxes and on the wealthy. So yeah...
I'm guessing there's more to it than road rage. Smith had dinner that night with a former NOPD commander. The same former NOPD commander that, 10 years ago, shot and killed the father of the man now charged with Smith's murder. That same NOPD commander was driving in another car in front of Smith.
That doesn't sound shady...AT ALL.
Really? Hadn't heard that yet
I've seen mini-series built around less.
Speaking of which, finished watching Bosch on Amazon Prime this weekend. Pretty good.
Next up: Season 1 of the The Shield. Why the fuck don't they have any of the other seasons, anyway?
A series on Hieronymus Bosch? Interesting. 😉
First episode of the The Shield was one of the few "I don't believe they just did that" episodes I've ever had watching TV.
I think you can get most (all?) of it on Hulu.
I'll have to give it a look. My TV lets me hook up directly to the intertoobz for some video services. Hulu being one of them. Haven't tried it yet.
Yeah, mine goes straight to Amazon but I run Hulu & Netflix through AppleTV. My fiance has an Amazon Prime subscription and her sister has Netflix so I'm getting most of my TV for free on the (soon to be) family plan.
You can watch the entire series on Hulu. I re-watched it last year and it was still tremendous.
Picked up the entire series on DVD at best buy a few months ago for something like $25 (maybe used a small coupon?).
I caught season 1 and 2 as they came out - then missed the rest of the series - gotta sit down and work through them after I finish Justified Season 5 and 6.
Here's local media's detailed update. So far, most of the arguments for more than road rage are coming from the defense attorney. That doesn't make it wrong, but no other sources as yet.
If it is road rage, it's one of the oddest coincidences I've heard of in my life.
Tupac Suge Knight agrees.
And then Peter Hitchens was all:
"Why is There No Balance or Impartiality in TV Drama or Soap Operas?
If you want to change someone's mind, don't bother arguing with him. Get control of a major TV or radio soap opera and you are halfway there. I would love to infiltrate the scriptwriters of Coronation Street and insert a storyline about a bright young teenager who starts smoking cannabis and ends up hopelessly mentally ill, stuck on a locked ward as his weeping parents wonder why nobody did anything to enforce the drug laws."
Man, Peter Hitchens' obsession with weed is getting pretty sad.
I wonder whether he thinks those negroes with their jazz music and their devil's weed are going to abscond with our white girls.
+1 doyoumindifwedancewithyodates
Otis, my man!
I have a suspicion that Hitchens' Coronation Street would get pretty bad ratings. Strange that he doesn't consider *consumer* desires in this situation.
Speaking of negroes and hate groups, LynchPin (RACIST) linked this fascinating interview with Daryl Davis, jazz musician and "hate group connoisseur." So far it's been riveting.
Bah! I guess he crossposted it here. Well, let me second his recommendation.
Too bad every American TV show pulled that crap in the 80s and everybody noticed how ridiculous and false it was.
A Dartmouth sorority is cancelling its Kentucky Derby party after protests that it is racist and elitist:
http://tinyurl.com/jjgy8s2
Instead of a Derby theme, they're going with a Woodstock theme (presumably the music festival and not the cartoon bird). The only proper response is to show up at the Woodstock party in blackface as Sly and the Family Stone.
Yes; but show up late.
Elitist!
Finally we are getting somewhere. First it was the BLM at Missouri saying "We have nothing to lose but our chains!" (Last line of the Manifesto). Now we have some ACTUAL class struggle here! Bernie must be proud.
Tune in next week to catch some authentic bourgeoisie mustache twirling and top hat tipping from the Dartmouth kulaks.
The Dartmouth Kulaks would be an excellent name for a band.
"KDE vice president Nikol Oydanich said house members were convinced by critics that the party was racially offensive because it evoked the aesthetics of the plantation-era South."
One step closer to the event horizon of peak derp.
Kentucky was a union state. But I guess they dont teach geograohy in NH.
Also, the first Derby was in the 1870s.
You're right. I never heard of 'geograohy'.
Pronounced geogra-hooey. Meaning, I bet they do teach it.
My jr. high geography teacher was awesome. He instituted his own scrip and paid us for good grades with it. At the end of each month, he held an auction in which we could use it to buy items like candy, stationary, t-shirts, etc.
Yeah, these geniuses obviously haven't been to the infield at the Kentucky Derby.
What is *wrong* with these people?
Wait, let me guess...they're agents provacateurs working for the Trump campaign.
Do you have a better explanation?
Maybe they misunderstood the term "race" and misheard the word "horse"?
Nothing celebrates "diversity" like honoring a concert whose performers and audience were almost entirely white.
How many women were raped at Woodstock?
Whoops. Sorry, didn't mean to bring that up.
Apparently Trump's own progeny will not be able to vote for him in New York because they didn't register as Republicans in time.
They're changing the rules to disenfranchise Trump voters! Lying Ted conspired to keep the Trump clan from voting! There's a uuuuge conspiracy and we're gonna see evidence published by the campaign right after the next news cycle expunges this one from the collective memory.
Do you write for the Drudge Report?
Why do people care trumps kids aren't voting for him in the primary? I wouldn't vote for my mother, because I disagree politically with her. I'd expect the same from her. I suppose the primary would be the best place to vote in pure support for someone, and completely ignore the policies they support.
Anything to knock trump must be repeated ad nauseum even if it shouldn't matter.
I love my parents. I'd never vote for either one of them. Doing so would be worse than identity politics.
I'd be happy for her if she did well, and every family event she'd get an earful of why I'm right.
I'd vote for my parents. Either one would be better than any recent president.
Of course, they are both dead.
If we were in a no-shitting shooting war, I'd vote for my Dad.
If we were at peace, I'd vote for my Mom.
Both of them are more sane and rational than any national politician in quite some time.
They campaign for him, don't they?
My father is feeling the Bern, and my mother leads the prayer group at her Baptist church (obviously they are no longer together). No way would I vote for either.
Mom is a super progressive, which irks me because she works in a non profit community service. She gets some state funding, but almost all of it is donations. She's exemplifying private charity, and why it works. And yet she's sure it'd be better if the state helped more.
Dad's a libertarian right. I've moved him well into a small l. Economically, he already was here. It wasn't hard to sell him on a live and let live ideology.
It would be better if the state helped more. They'd have more money. Oh, you mean just, as in the money being voluntarily contributed rather than taken by force. Silly libertarian. Justice is for kids. Adults care about what is fair. And as long as rich people exist, that right there is proof that they haven't paid their fair share.
Something like 25% of the articles I've read around the internet today have contained some variation of "shut the fuck up" in them. That's enough internet for today.
You're out of your element.
Who needs 23 varieties of STFU?
Russia behind Panama Papers?
In sum, my thinking is that this could have been a Russian intelligence operation, which orchestrated a high-profile leak and established total credibility by "implicating" (not really implicating) Russia and keeping the source hidden. Some documents would be used for anti-corruption campaigns in a few countries?topple some minor regimes, destroy a few careers and fortunes. By then blackmailing the real targets in the United States and elsewhere (individuals not in the current leak), the Russian puppet masters get "kontrol" and influence.
So Mulcair is out. Looks like the NDP is going to go full Corbyn. And like the Liberals they are all in for free shit and "green" energy which is proof of the libertarian moment. Both want to change the electoral system to keep the Tories out of power forever since they are too fiscally conservative and not green enough for their tastes.
How about Mike Layton or Mr. Naomi Klein? Worked for the Lieberals.
Are they are any articles on how this recent cold spell is proof that the End of Summer is near or that it also proof that the End of Snow is near?
" allow the state to use the electric chair to execute prisoners as an alternative lethal injection if the drugs were not available."
You know, probably about half of reason's subscribers know somebody that could hook them up... you know, to help the state slaughter their own citizens, not to get high or anything.
If a government is going to use the death penalty, they should just do it. Firing squad. None of this pussy-footing around. They'd have no problem finding psychopaths in the police departments to do the deed, and maybe it would satiate their blood lust enough that they wouldn't murder people for having a remote control in their hand.
Instead of having the prisoner order a last meal, give him a menu of execution options - lethal injection, firing squad, hanging, electric chair, gas, guillotine. If the prisoner declines to make a selection, the warden picks the most convenient method.
That way, if one or more of the methods is cruel and unusual, the prisoner won't be able to complain so long as there's a non-cruel-and-unusual option for him to choose.
Burn him at the stake. "A hot steak is better than a cold chop!" (2:00)
Electrocution doesn't make you high...oh, sorry, I misunderstood.
Electrocution doesn't make you high
Unless you're a robot.
You know, probably about half of reason's subscribers know somebody that could hook them up
There isn't a vet's office in the country that couldn't source drugs to kill someone humanely.
Its super-easy. No idea why the states feel like they have to use these weird custom-compounded cocktails.
Because vet chemicals cause the body to spasm, which makes the execution's audience feel bad about having wanted to come see another human being die.
Because vet chemicals cause the body to spasm,
I've put down more dogs than I care to think about.
Not one single spasm or other untelegenic activity. Maybe they work different on people, but I doubt it.
France surrenders to student protesters
French military surplus rifles are the best. They have never been shot and only dropped once.
Led Zeppelin on Trial
It doesn't sound that similar. The judge has lost his mind. And even if it was, Stairway to Heaven came out in 1971 and was the most played song on FM radio all the way into the late 1980s. There should be some kind of statute or limitations or principle of equitable estopple that keeps the greedy heirs from suing for this the artist never thought important enough to bring suit.
Ye olde copyright law would have taken care of this, as I believe any copyrights expired when the creator did.
AS they should.
And even if the guy were still alive, he should have some duty to timely assert his copyright. You shouldn't be able to sit around for 40 years and then decide to sue.
I remember something about life plus 70 years from law school. But I didn't care much for that class, so I might be misremembering.
More importantly, Stairway has an ascending scheme woven into the descending minor chords.
These autoplay videos keep crashing my browser.

I'm conflicted on poaching. On the one hand, I think people are more important than animals. On the other, I think poachers and those who buy horns/tusks/pelts of endangered animals on the black market should be castrated.

They just destroyed themselves. Private labor-at least at the grassroots-won't like being sacrificed on the green altar. The BC NDP did something similar by opposing Kinder Morgan and may have lost an election over it. Not only that, Notley may have no choice but to divorice the NDP, or get replaced by someone willing to do it. The NDP provincial branches are, by party law, obligated to kneel before federal party decisions like this.
You'll Show Them, Bryan Adams
First Bruce Sprinsteen now Bryan Adams. Its like there is a conspiracy to get states to pass these laws. If Bieber and Beyonce would sign on, every state in the union would pass one of these laws within a week.
Ohio State University student protesters "disperse on their own volition" after an administator threatens to put them in "paddy wagon[s]" and expel them from the university.
The Daily Caller also has the story.
The bad news is the university just pissed off the Irish.
Damn it I thought there was going to be an article about how the protestors thought that remark was racist.
Also those protestors were lame.
Don't be racist toward the Irish.
You know how they get when they're angry.
Drunk?
They are so brave. Just like the freedom riders and people who risked death for sitting at a lunch counter. My God what a bunch of a sad sack pieces of shit.
Yeah I know these kids like to think of themselves as the modern equivalent of those guys but when the first sign of authority clamping down they cave. Pathetic.
Its probably a violation of the NAP, but I wouldn't mind seeing the firehoses turned on them.
Tax competition is liberating the world: Indonesia will cut its corporate tax rate to 20% to compete with Singapore. Taiwan and Thailand already lowered their rates.

Here is an article from Colby Cosh talking about how the NDP went totally insane and has essentially strapped a bomb to its chest in the form of the 'Leap Manifesto'. It goes into trends of disintegration seen in other parties around the western world. This jibes with what Welch and others have been talking about ie politics changing to be more individualized. Unfortunately this does not mean more freedom necessarily.

Ted Cruz is married to Goldman Sachs.
Donald Trump himself could vote in the Democratic presidential primary in NY, because I think he's still enrolled as a Democrat. I don't know whether Bernard Sanders can do so in VT; can't if their primary's closed.
As to the dog biting the pig's ear, that's how dogs play with each other. The dog thought he was being sociable w the pig, who as far as he's concerned is just another of his doggie friends. It was just a nip, & ear-nipping is typical of dog play.
The dog was probably trying to make a silk purse.

What am I going to do with you? Uffda, how can you knock one of the greatest foods of all time and space?
My wife isn't from Minnesoda, so she is a heretic like you, but I've made sure to raise all my kids right so they totally dig hotdish.
I don't know any Minnesotans who make "hotdish". its only ever mentioned in a joking context.
The mild thing is no joke though. Medium is too spicy for my dad.
Next you will attempt to say that lutefisk isn't a real thing either?
How else are you supposed to get rid of leftovers if you don't make hotdish once a week or so? And what would happen to the Cream of Mushroom farmers if people stopped making hotdish?
I had lutefisk once. I'd describe it as rancid glue, except I'd probably rather eat the glue.
Minnesota gets a bad rap food-wise. Walleye is great and so is wild rice. I'd eat wild rice hot dish.
What is the difference between lutefisk and boogers? 5 year olds will eat boogers.
Also, walleye is overrated. I'd much rather eat perch or panfish than walleye. I have no idea how we became obsessed with a fish that tastes OK but is absolutely boring to catch.
Eating lutefisk for Minnesotans is like one of those cultural tests of endurance that some societies have -- like adult genital mutilation in Africa etc.
My grandma makes lutefisk every Christmas, nobody ever touches it. It's a one and done thing for life.
A fun one is to point out that in this rape obsessed culture, why do you want to leave your fellow women defenseless.
Same with my Dad and pickled herring in cream sauce.
