Hillary Clinton's Twitter President Barack Obama wants $1.8 billion to help fight and develop a vaccine for the Zika virus, but also doesn't want people to panic over it.
- Candidates running for president are making their last-minute cases to voters in New Hampshire before tomorrow's primary.
- Canada will be ending its participation in airstrikes against ISIS in Iraq and Syria and will instead expand efforts to train local forces.
- NYPD Officer Peter Liang, accused of gunning down Akai Gurley in a public housing stairwell by accident, took the stand today and cried while describing what happened.

A VIRUS WALL!
Hello.
"Canada will be ending its participation in airstrikes against ISIS in Iraq and Syria and will instead expand efforts to train local forces."
I'm sure terr-rists will be making a distinction when they form their hit lists.
How about when they're attending local training classes?
Graduation ceremony could be a bitch.
And the Burlington, KS NJROTC unit will fill in for them. They can squeeze it in between gym and English class.
Canada is training terrorists to fight terrorists, and also how to not rape.
Maybe stop having the CDC study guns and food and lesbian astronauts...I'll study the lesbian astronauts, and use that savings to fund the study of diseases.
They'll likely be the hardware store kind.
The hardware store kind of what?
FoE prefers Lipstick Lesbians to Astronauts.
Hardware store kind of guns, geesh.
+ Sears shotgun my daddy has.
You sure it's not the hardware store kind of food? Nuts, for instance?
Can't be too careful around those diseases unique to hardware stores.
Hell, the CDC could probably raise funds by charging internet users to study lesbian astronauts.
Scissoring doesn't work in zero g.
Bud damn man we won't know til we try!
Do we know this for sure? I think more research is required.
Today, on a very special episode of NASA TV....
Scissoring doesn't work in zero g.
Straps will keep the strap-ons in place.
Bungee cords can be used to keep the participants in place.
Me? I want to know about zero g orgies. That will be very difficult to engineer.
+1 thrusters
What about docking?
What, in space?
Yeah. It's difficult to get it up in space. So I hear.
Privileged, self-entitled Princeton professor arrested for three-year old outstanding parking ticket, takes to twitter, to cry racism.
For a fucking overdue ticket?
While I agree that arresting her for a parking ticket is ridiculous (why not just send them to collections, just like private businesses), those on the left want to pay for all those nice roads and our crumbling infrastructure. Somebody's got to pay!
Bear, Bear, Bear...whats the point of having a monopoly on force unless you use it?
someone who screams "racism!" over this may well be making up the handcuffing or have been so belligerent that things escalated. This looks like a game where everyone loses.
Agreed. A cop vs an SJW. No good guys here.
Unlike the SuperBowl where the Denver Broncos Won!
BRONCOS WON THE SUPERBOWL!!!!!
BRONCOS WON THE SUPERBOWL!!!!!

Bandit,
It seems that you omitted the part where your cousin made a lot of money using one weird trick.
He was anonymous too while attending the SuperBowl that the Denver Broncos Won!
If you don't want to be subjected to a full-body search and then manacled to a piece of furniture over a malum prohibtium offense, don't accumulate late fees like a thug.
because that's what actually did happen or what another round of tweets claims happened. This is a cop and an SJW; my give a shit meter is not moving much.
You're right. I should stop caring about police abuse when it allegedly happens to people I don't like.
People who rile people on Twitter are totes as bad as people who make a living assaulting and kidnapping people.
Irish,
that's not what I said. Curious how instantly jump to the abuse side, as if the claims must be true because something.
No one is asking you to give a shit. Just not to confabulate scenarios.
is the scenario we're told occurred the actual scenario?
The police aren't disputing it.
The police aren't disputing it.
they're not commenting at all, which is a stupid tack. And neither is the professor.
They did give a statement.
that quote does not sound like someone copping to assault or kidnapping or full-body searches. If your beef is with the policy, then tell his overlords. I thought the collection agency idea was a good one. Otherwise, when someone is arrested, there is a procedure. The tweeting that tries to paint this as all racial is a bit repulsive on its own. I lived in a college town, got a couple of tickets; it's not like you get no notice.
It's more of how he had to squeeze the "War on Cops" narrative into all of this.
Cam should have used the $180k to but some blockers.
Or did he spend it all while at 'barn?
there was no money paid Cam at AU; the offer came from Miss St. Being willfully ignorant is the choice you persist in making.
Worse than the play was the aftermath. Wholly unprofessional.
Im pretty sure a bunch of train wrecking terrorists would be willing to outbid MSU.
When you are too corrupt for UF....
except that no one at AU tried outbidding Miss State. And in the overall scheme of Urban-ball, which includes a murderer and the Pouncey twins, among others, a second-hand laptop is small change. Don't let the part about nothing having happened since cloud your vision, either.
Shouldn't you be happy for Demaryius Thomas, and even more pleased that he didn't drop the trophy when it was passed to him?
He made the last TD by drawing the penalty.
What, no denying the terrorism charge?
No one? Or no one got caught? This is the SEC.
I didn't read the article. Did she get "uppity", if so, totally justified.
The article doesn't address that. I believe the DP is a student paper.
DP? The Donkey Puncher? Double Penetrator?
Ahh, Daily Princeton.
Oh, I agree it was a huge overreaction on the part of the police. I also suspect that she probably became all emotional and "you-know-who-I-am," but I have no evidence for that. Her supporters refuse to see anything beyond race, refuse to acknowledge that the problem is laws that allow the police to arrest people for unpaid fines and not the inconvenient (to them) application of those laws.
Exactly. I firmly believe that civil fines should not be able to escalate to criminal punishment. Rather they should go to collections just like any other business would. Not having debtor's prison should apply to government just like private business. (Which is different from a criminal penalty.)
But, I can't help but get a little schadenfraude when someone like this get bitten by the bug that they helped to create in terms of the regulatory state.
"...against racism and carcerality". There is no way that was a real word until the SJWs got involved.
Do you have any reason to think this professor disagrees?
That's lacking a bit of evidence. This kind of shit almost certainly happens in all 50 states.
So why say it?
Because I'm a bad person.
Do you have any evidence it didn't happen?
I have a rock that repels tigers.
Get back to me when you have a rock that repels Nikki.
Onus probandi isn't just what's in a proctologist's office, nicole.
Here's this followup article from a professional newsgathering organization.
She was arrested for driving with a suspended license, not just for the unpaid fine. She was also charged with speeding. Funny how she didn't mention those charges on her Twitter.
As reported in the Washington Post, the suspended license was from the unpaid ticket.
Thats what happens when you dont pay your tickets.
I still agree with the idea that a parking ticket shouldn't ever lead to an arrest warrant. However, she was doing 67 in a 45. So that could by itself be reckless driving (depending on the jurisdiction). I guarantee you that anybody doing 67 in a 45 driving by a cop will be pulled over. And when they pull you over, they will run your license.
So, while the initial offense is stupid, her being black has nothing to do with this. So that is why many of us don't exactly give a shit about her. If she was talking about the problems with a system in which a parking ticket leads to an arrest, I would be right with her.
You'd think she would be more careful while driving without a license.
Jesus, where'd she park, the roof of the White House?
There is no more serious offense than failure to pay the state.
^This.
Except paying the state for someone else.
Look, HM, she's privileged. Now make fun of her for playing the race card.
I'll just stick to my Henry Louis Gates arrest tapes.
No, for resisting arrest.
*** looks at TFA ***

This happened to me. And a night in a holding cell before they got an admin law judge to let me out on OR.
If Twitter had been around then, I would have claimed antisemitism.
I once got pulled over while having an outstanding ticket.
I had a half an ounce of weed in my pocket. The officer was kind enough to let me pull my vehicle into a parking lot so it wouldn't be in the street and get towed. I ditched the weed. When we got to the station I was patted sown and out in a cell after making a call for someone to come get me out.
Then I found a roach in the small pocket of my jeans. I tore it into little pieces while in the cell.
I got bailed out and nothing else happened.
"Imani Perry ?@imaniperry 55m55 minutes ago
I'm blocking and reporting abusive comments."
Like...PAY YOUR FUCKEN TICKET?
Apparently, right wingers were mean to her on the twatter.
This makes no sense. Don't they just block registration for the vehicle?
Perhaps what you and I would call "DUI" she calls a "parking ticket".
Today was the day that Chipotle restaurants across the country all opened late so that they could have a national staff meeting about their food safety problems.

They will now be bleaching all the chicken just before serving.
NYPD Officer Peter Liang, accused of gunning down Akai Gurley in a public housing stairwell by accident, took the stand today and cried while describing what happened.
Crying over the potential lost pension?
And the unbearable thought that he might have to actually take up productive non-privileged employment
Before or after ten years of anal rape?
Is he still claiming his NYPD Glock with extra-heavy trigger went off by itself?
12 pounds....who knew....since when!?
I immediately googled the trigger pull, knew it had to be so heavy that it sure didn't go off by itself.
Why was his finger on the trigger?
If he had thrown the gun down the stairwell, it would have had less of a chance of "going off by itself" ...
https://us.glock.com/technology/safe-action
Coincidentally, that was the standard DA trigger weight on my CZ-75 SP01.
It was like competing in a fucking tractor pull.
He is crying because he finally realized how much of a scumbag he is for texting his PBA rep instead of helping the person he just shot?
...took the stand today and cried while describing what happened.
That's why the union isn't backing him. They like the defiant not the contrite.
Trudeau has stopped bombing ISIS over there because he's brought them over here.
And personally welcomed them.
All that was missing was James Taylor.
That's what Anne Murray is for.
Why not bring them together?
Needs more Canadian Content. Like Gino Vannelli.
So does Trudeau post here under the name "cytotoxic"?
[extra polite golf clap]
I think Cytotoxic also wants to bomb them over there
Cytotoxic wants *us* to bomb them over there.
Canadian hawks love American power.
Of course, they aren't paying for it.
They can't pay for it. They get paid in monopoly money.

(at least a fajita bowl with double steak, light rice, beans and all the different salsas)
I'm with you, Bear. Never got the hate.
I love red meat, but I cannot stand the steak at Chipotle. The chicken on the other hand is really, really good with that lime cilantro rice. Corn and Pico for the win.
Yeah, don't bother with anything but the chicken there. And the guacamole is decent. But Qdoba is better.
I like the chicken and the barbacoa. Never tried the steak.
Michael Bloomberg says he is considering running for president because he is distressed by the "banal" nature of the debates, which he thinks is an insult to the voters.
He's going to show them all how to really insult voters with a platform of voters being too dumb to make their own decisions.
well, if anyone knows a thing or two about insulting voters, it is Bloomberg.
First we got Socialist Asshat Jew, now maybe Rich Asshole Jew. But don't we already have Rich Asshole WASP? All of them from New York incidentally.
More I think about it, Bloomberg is some kind of Bernie-Trump hybrid thing.
What is WASP Asshat Jew, chopped liver Hillary Clinton?
There is speculation that Bllomberg is waiting in the wings for Hillary to get indicted. He could jump in as the party implodes.
Problem is, the only person enthused about a Bloomberg run is Bloomberg.
I think Trump is pretty happy about it too. He'll have a friend to hang out with while campaigning.
Bloomie "he is distressed by the "banal" nature of the debates,"
Bloomie will raise the level of the debates. He'll talk about 16 oz drinks and horse poop on the street.
"President Barack Obama wants $1.8 billion________________"
BECAUSE ITS MONDAY
Mrs. Clinton's Ode to Serfdom
...Terry Shumaker, former U.S. ambassador to Trinidad (I wonder what that gig cost him) and current abject minion in the service of Mrs. Clinton, quotes Herself telling an audience in New Hampshire: "Service is the rent we pay for living in this great country."
There is a very old English word for people who are required to perform service as a rent for their existence, and that word is serf. Serfdom is a form of bondage.
Americans are not serfs. We are not sharecroppers on Herself's farm or in vassalage to that smear of thieving nincompoopery in Washington that purports to rule us.
We don't owe you any damned rent.
The American proposition is precisely the opposite of what Herself imagines: The U.S. government exists at our sufferance, not the other way around....
This was posted on the AM links, but does bear a repeat even it it's KDW.
Beyond all of that, these assholes who think we owe service to the country have almost never done any actual service themselves. What "service" to the country has Hillary ever done other than getting rich and powerful at everyone else' expense. How noble of her.
...Herself's invocation of serfdom is the logical extension of "You Didn't Build That"-ism, the backward philosophy under which the free citizen is obliged to justify his life and his prosperity to the state, in order to satisfy the economic self-interest, status-seeking, and power-lust of such lamentable specimens as Elizabeth Warren, a ridiculous little scold who has never done a single useful thing in her entire public life. The American model is precisely the opposite: Government has to justify itself to us. The states created the federal government, not the other way around, and the citizens created the states, not the other way around.
We don't owe these jackasses any service. They owe us service: services they routinely fail to perform....
They should be reminded constantly that they are just the fucking hired help whose job is to do the mundane tasks that smart, productive people don't have time to dick around with.
^This. Srsly.

CHINA FORCES ITS POLITICAL PRISONERS TO SELL BODY PARTS
I blame the Koch brothers.
The HN folks are of course jizzing their pants over this.
Ugh.
STAY OFF MY BEAT!
Also, I almost broke my monitor reading an HN article recently, for some smart folks they are all stupid socialists.
Wow...I am thinking of retiring from that beat. You can have it.
We can socialize it. No one needs their own beat.
HN is frustrating because about 10% of what's posted is interesting and would be hard to efficiently gather on your own -- but the other 90% is crap. Ditto for the comments, the quality of which is generally far overstated.
I've known a number of homeless people pretty well. Not scores or anything, but seems like more than the usual property owner. Very, very few of them are homeless or jobless just because someone isn't offering him a job or a house. There's jobs they would do, if the culture wasn't getting so screwy about insisting that everyone be super normal to do menial jobs and that everyone get paid minimum wage. But lots of them would never be willing to dwell in the kind of home that passes by that name generally.
A church in Philly is pulling their support for a homeless family-

These Hindu Nationalist types are like the love child of the Westboro Baptist Church and the worst SJWs, with just a pinch of Italian fascism thrown in for good measure.
Of course, no one does something for free, and Facebook is no exception. But still, if Indians prefer free access to Facebook in return for limited access to other websites, then who are people like Mahesh Murthy to impose otherwise? Oh yeah, "digital equality." *barf*
Double *barf* to the "Ack! Colonialism!" bullshit.

How is this supposed to change how I judge appearances again? Contorting herself to look even more like a horrible misshapen blob isn't helping.
You're supposed to feel guilty for judging.
The same way segregation is apparently supposed to improve race relations
"...aims to change the way people judge appearances."
They missed.
Julia hopes that the series will help people see nude bodies as something other than sexual by presenting it as a work of art
Well, aside from the "work of art" part, she's probably succeeded.
FFS, other than for kids or in medical situations:
I DON'T WANT TO SEE NUDE BODIES AS ANYTHING BUT SEXUAL!!
I swear these SJW and their fellow travelers are every bit the anti-sexuality prudes that the religious right are.
They're worse. They have more in common with the Junior Anti-Sex League. The religious right at least approve of sex between husband and wife.
Sexual, kids, medical...how about swimming?
I don't see how the human body can be a work of art. that's like somebody who finds dead cats in the woods and then tries to sell them as art objects that he made.
So, what, I'm supposed to be browbeaten into not finding that fat lady gross? Why does "positive body image" need to be synonymous with "heart-crippling obesity?"
That chick doesn't need more self-esteem, she needs to drop weight before she dies of congestive heart failure.

"'Anal', not 'banal'!"
Because Bloomberg wants to focus on important issues like the size of soft drinks people purchase and how much salt they eat.
Super Bowl ad shows baby in the womb trying to get his hands on Doritos brand chips.
NARAL hardest hit - "#NotBuyingIt - that @Doritos ad using #antichoice tactic of humanizing fetuses."
That they see 'humanizing fetuses' as something to severely criticize tells me everything I need to know about them.
Yeah I see this as a real gaffe by NARAL
Even the commenters on Huffington Post were saying NARAL was being retarded on this one.
Doritos probably cause abortions anyways.
Actually, the ending of that commercial was pretty gross, implying that the fetus whooshed out of the birth canal chasing the taco chip. Everyone at the viewing party I was at went "Ewwwww!"
I wouldn't think "Ewwww!" is the thought you want linked to your food product.
you must have been at the pussy party.
Even my wife howled with laughter!
politicizing everything. What could go wrong? Sometimes, a damn chip is just a damn chip. And the ad was funny.
I thought that commercial was telling me that Doritos causes premature births and or abortions. I found it amusing to see a live abortion during a superbowl ad. So avant garde.
In addition, in the commercial, the woman was obviously VERY pregnant. So I guess a late term (say 8 months along) "fetus" really isn't a baby.
Et tu, Ursus?
Yes, fetus until it is birthed and breathing on its own. Now, at the very earliest stages, say that blastocyst stage which enrages socons so much they refuse to talk about it, it's not even a fetus but a mere zygote. If you're going to use medical terms, adhere to the definitions. If you're going to use folk terms, you can call it whatever you want.
"socons...refuse to talk about it"
seriously, dude?
Canada will be ending its participation in airstrikes against ISIS in Iraq and Syria and will instead expand efforts to train local forces.

How many people will this get killed? And I don't buy that they are trying to destroy the military. I think these people are really this stupid and primitive. This country is the greatest and most resilient nation in history. The fact that we can have people this stupid in charge of the government and we don't look like Venezuela is testament to America's greatness as a nation.
It's just testament to our founders. We're just coasting along on their greatness, and slowly pissing away this country as we go along.
Every year our political and elite class gets dumber.
Maybe on a local time line. I remember some tales I read about the Congress in Lincoln's time. They didn't sound like any great shakes.
They were not. But there were a few really smart ones. And they had a lot less power to screw things up.
It's true. Oh for the days when Virginia could say screw you DC, we want our land back.
I've always found it strange so many smarties were among the founders. Jefferson, Hamilton, Madison - all pretty intelligent peeps. Benjamin Franklin was a genius and giant of the Enlightenment. Washington instinctively understood human beings and political power on another level. Just strange they were all in same place same time.
Filed under "Ignore in case of real war" along with all the other PC bullshit that's been dumped on them over the past decade.
It's a fad. I remember when the Navy jumped into TQM, except they didn't understand it so they rebranded it Total Quality Leadership (because shitty officers manage, great officers lead).
At one point the command master chief had three suggestion boxes attached to his door. A TQL box, a Equal opportunity box, and a suggestion box.
It added 15 minutes to an hour to our work month, bt otherwise did very little harm. The existence of the F-35 does far more real world harm.
Yes, it will be largely ignored and just be another block to check, for now. But the fact remains the people who run the Pentagon really are this stupid.
They'll add another paragraph to the 5 paragraph OPORD (now up to 7 paragraphs to cover other political bullshit that no one reads).
My brother used to run the design office for the engineering company he worked for. He had a suggestion box by his door.
After a month he cut the bottom out of it and placed a trash can underneath it.
They whiney-baby pissing and moaning stopped immediately.
At my first job, they had a suggestion box. I wrote a proposal for a way to fix a process problem that would tend to cost us thousands of dollars every month. It was a warranty company, and when they bought out an appliance, sometimes that paperwork would not get filed, leading to more claims going against the warranty and also getting small claims suits filed against us.
My great grandboss called me into his office a few weeks later, and gave me the biggest shitstorm I had ever heard- "How dare you suggest to our management that we are this wasteful. Do you know how bad you made me look!" This went on for about an hour, at the end of which time he looked over to my grandboss (who had been sitting through this with me) and demanded that I be written up with a record in my permanent file.
It is interesting that what I consider to be the worst mistake in my young career was when I tried to save my company some dollars. No good deed goes unpunished.
To my grand-boss's credit, after his boss left the room, he turned to look at me and took my "Write up" and fed it into the shredder while making an "Ooops" face. All of this was done very quietly of course.
Ha!
I would be I retested to know what b.s. would have bee written in your write-up to justify it. I mean would they have admitted punishing you for making your superior look incompetent so he could keep losing money he did not need to.
I hope you got the hell out of that company ASAP.
I don't even know if the F-35 does that much harm. It just means they will keep using F-16's and F-18's longer, and those are still fine platforms.
A new layer of bureaucracy is the whole point of that. I don't know what any of the rest of it means and neither do they. More federal jobs.
This is coming from Obumbles. Remember, he didn't want to bomb ISIS oil production because global warming, or something. This is what it looks like when the retarded kid is driving the bus.
I can see all the DoD consulting firms building their powerpoint presentations now. Most everyone will thing think this is dumb but the contractors will want in on the money and the military brass will worry (as always) only about their careers - just keep your head down and say "yes sir".
The politicizing of the military continues apace.
Most resilient? Hmmmm ... I can think of quite a few nations which have lasted far longer.
Pentagon orders commanders to prioritize climate change in all military actions
"Sorry, Mr. President. We couldn't fire our weapons. Greenhouse gas, you know."
it's the ongoing politicization of everything. I get that there is a political component to the armed forces but, my lord, this it's-one-giant-petrie-dish idea keeps growing what with the debate over who should have to register for the draft to nonsense like this.
MOAR SOLER TANKZ!!!!111!!!!
You laugh. You know that they will want hybrid tanks next. Srsly, they will.
Oh man I can't wait for the massive bitchfit Tom Kratman is going to throw over this, fantastic.
I know! I actually love Kratman (not to say I would agree with all of his domestic agenda, but he understands warfare the way few do).
The guy in charge of this is Frank Kendall, former Managing Partner at Renaissance Strategic Advisors, a Virginia-based aerospace and defense sector consulting firm. Looking at Renaissance Strategic Advisors, we see one Ken Kreig, the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics from 2005-2007 as well as "currently a member of the Board of Directors of Aurora Flight Sciences and Twisted Pair Solutions. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of LMI and is a member of the SSA Board of DRS Technologies."
Can you say "military-industrial complex"? Can you say "revolving door"? I'll bet you can.
On the plus side, this makes it easier for the revolutionaries.
Clinton weighs staff shake-up

How about "Forward the message, but strip off the markings first"?
change the message all you want; in the end, your messenger is still Hillary, no matter how many reinventions are tried.
Well, she does need a backup plan in place for when Huma and co. go to prison
I dunno, probably just normal politics. Considering it's Her Turn(tm), and she's actually running into meaningful opposition in a guy who puts his pants on his head every morning, it's probably time for new eyes on the problem.
Hey, when you're constantly spewing shit out of your mouth, it can be hard to tell which end is which.
"The gun just went off." -- Yeah right, my guns have never just gone off. Whassamatta, can't the NYPD afford real guns?
"I thought my CPR training was no good so I let her do it." -- Uh huh. If it had been a friend or relative of yours, I bet you'd have tried just a little tiny bit harder.
"It was our discretion when to pull a gun before being threatened." -- And if the people who claim to serve and protect want that choice, you'd shoot 'em in a heartbeat, amirite?
No sympathy, motherfucker. No sympathy at all. Like she said -- "If he'd shown remorse, I could have forgiven him."
Rot in jail with all the lesser scum you despise so much.
I thought my CPR training was no good so I let her do it.
Bull. Shit.
Even if his CPR training was "no good" (expired cert, outdated protocol), any CPR is way, way better than no CPR.
It's just part of his message that nothing was his fault -- gun went off, bad training, broken hall lights, scary tenants.
Of course it's not his fault. He's a cop. Nothing is his fault.
"The gun just went off."
You don't put your finger on a single-action trigger until you are ready to squeeze it. Period. We'd be a lot safer if these yahoos went back to carrying revolvers.
And if the people who claim to serve and protect want that choice, you'd shoot 'em in a heartbeat, amirite?
They aren't serving and protecting individuals. They are serving and protecting The People. The People is everyone except any individuals that they may encounter. Any individual that the police encounter is to immediately and unquestioningly obey The People's servant.
No sympathy, motherfucker.
Aw, come on. You could at least offer a dictionary and tell him to look between shit and syphilis.
It probably wouldn't be there -- they have different dictionaries.
President Barack Obama wants $1.8 billion to help fight and develop a vaccine for the Zika virus, but also doesn't want people to panic over it.
Burn more money on the Altar of Science! Appease the Great All Knowing Eye.
Let's do it. Right after Joe Biden cures cancer.
With a shotgun?
He's going to defeat the Zika by containing it. It's the JV of viruses, anyway...
Ok, panic!
And they will be called the Fedaykin, which in turn will help train more ISIS warriors.
Yeah, I know this story well.
What more do you need to tell your staff besides "Wash your hands after going to the bathroom" and "stop scratching your privates while you prepare customers' food"?
When it comes to free stuff. the Indian government is very principled: It's either all, or nothing!
Beggars can be choosers!
It's nice to see Hillary getting out and mixing with the normals.
She better lay off the pancakes if she's going to get out of that booth by herself.
They look like chickenheads.

This is a bit of an old link, but Tucker Carson absolutely took apart the Washington GOP and GOP media's response to Trump a couple of weeks ago. You don't have to even like Trump to appreciate how accurately he nails them.
Trump is in part a reaction to the intellectual corruption of the Republican Party. That ought to be obvious to his critics, yet somehow it isn't.
Consider the conservative nonprofit establishment, which seems to employ most right-of-center adults in Washington. Over the past 40 years, how much donated money have all those think tanks and foundations consumed? Billions, certainly. (Someone better at math and less prone to melancholy should probably figure out the precise number.) Has America become more conservative over that same period? Come on. Most of that cash went to self-perpetuation: Salaries, bonuses, retirement funds, medical, dental, lunches, car services, leases on high-end office space, retreats in Mexico, more fundraising. Unless you were the direct beneficiary of any of that, you'd have to consider it wasted.
Ouch
There is just too much good shit to quote within the reason character limit. He goes on
Pretty embarrassing. And yet they're not embarrassed. Many of those same overpaid, underperforming tax-exempt sinecure-holders are now demanding that Trump be stopped. Why? Because, as his critics have noted in a rising chorus of hysteria, Trump represents "an existential threat to conservatism."
Let that sink in. Conservative voters are being scolded for supporting a candidate they consider conservative because it would be bad for conservatism? And by the way, the people doing the scolding? They're the ones who've been advocating for open borders, and nation-building in countries whose populations hate us, and trade deals that eliminated jobs while enriching their donors, all while implicitly mocking the base for its worries about abortion and gay marriage and the pace of demographic change. Now they're telling their voters to shut up and obey, and if they don't, they're liberal.
Forget embarrassed; they're doubling down and totally oblivious to Trump being a creature of their own making.
Re: John,
Sure. That doesn't mean Open Borders is what Tucker is saying it means, because it isn't. It simply means allowing people to move into the United States who have the means to do so. What the government is doing is not that but bringing in "refugees" using tax-payer money. That's NOT Open Borders.
Also, Tucker makes it seem like conservatives in Washington are free market advocates (besides having a predilection for nation-building) which they're not. Most "free trade" agreements approved by Congress are quite protectionist, with convoluted language.
And the idea that free trade eliminates jobs? Sure, if you want to keep buggy-whip manufacturers and smithies working, then you should advocate for no trade. While we're at it, Carlson, let's ask people to throw their clogs (sabot) into the machines that are taking er jebz.
Did Cytoxic hypnotize you or something? Seriously, can you just let it the fuck go for once? The point of the post is not to give you an excuse to recite the same tired ass talking points about open borders. The point is to look at what hypocritical half witted assholes Washington Republicans are.
Just give it a rest this once enjoy the schadenfreude.
"It simply means allowing people to move into the United States who have the means to do so."
Sounds good. What are "the means to do so", who defines that criterion, who administers the filtering of immigration candidates, and how long can they be trusted not to dilute the qualifications?
The people who favor immigration and border control simply trust none of this because of the government's half century of half-assed selective enforcement.
Currently? The Immigration and Nationality Act of 1954.
Do you mean 1952 instead of 1954? That's a start, marginally better than 1965 although I personally prefer the general ideas in the 1891 version. Now if you can convince border control fans that the law will be consistently and permanently enforced you might get some of their support.
But let's pretend for a second this isn't Washington. Let's imagine it's the capital of an African country, say Burkina Faso, and we are doing a study on corruption. Probably the first question we'd ask: How many government officials have close relatives who make a living by influencing government spending? A huge percentage of them? OK. Case closed. Ouagadougou is obviously a very corrupt city.
That's how the rest of the country views D.C. Washington is probably the richest city in America because the people who live there have the closest proximity to power. That seems obvious to most voters. It's less obvious to us, because everyone here is so cheerful and familiar, and we're too close to it. Chairman so-and-so's son-in-law lobbies the committee? That doesn't seem corrupt. He's such a good guy.
Chairman so-and-so's son-in-law lobbies the committee? That doesn't seem corrupt. He's such a good guy.
I admit it's a complete non-sequitir, but this made me laugh, and made me think of this.
This is a progressive, organic, local grocery store out of Portland, but it's not union, yet no one in this town sees the inherent corruption of all the recent union-backed activities. No one. It's just unions, they're good guys, helpin' out the workin' man, suggesting legislation, making sure that the right people are getting contracts along the light-rail corridor.

We really are becoming a third world country. You can see the devolution as it is happening.
It's really more like the US is descending into an idiocracy. It's almost like Mike Judge was a documentarian.
Maybe Todd Beamer didn't do us any favors.
Nicole is so turned on right now.
Say what you will about Tucker Carlson, but hot diggity dog is that boy dreamy.
I have never thought much of him. I have to appreciate a great take down. I didn't think he had it in him but he just destroys these people. It is fucking awesome.
He was actually genetically-engineered by LL.Bean
LoL
All of the things that Trump supporters say about the GOP establishment, etc. I tend to agree with. So why couldn't we get an egomaniac, blowhard with a rug, who at least has espoused somewhat libertarian (or even just constitutional conservative) ideas with more regularity then Trump? What, we don't have any of our own clowns?
I don't know.
"What, we don't have any of our own clowns?"
Libertarians are neither fish nor fowl. They are socially liberal, which base is fully covered by the proggies while being anathema to many conservatives; they are against free shit, which repels all proggies and some conservatives.
Libertarians do not have to be socially liberal. I'm socially conservative, but I just don't think that government should involve itself in the peaceful behavior of consenting adults. The propriety of sex, drugs, and rock'n'roll, etc., so to speak, isn't really the crux of libertarianism. Libertarianism just asserts individuals have the right to determine the propriety of such things, and that government only has legitimate authority to prohibit crimes but not vices.
Also, huge chunks of the prog base are NOT social liberals. They just go along for cultural and/or free-shit reasons.
*roaring applause*
I'm in the same place. I hold myself and my family to certain standards on a moral basis. I don't think the government should be the arbiter of my morality. This is why I have a massive reaction to the "christian nation" bullshit. No, our nation isn't a fucking theonomy.
Whatever questions one has about the GOP, Trump is not the answer.
Oh, because he wants to "ban all"?
According to Rudy Giuliani, that halftime show was another front in the War on Copz!
I just thought it sucked.
Eh, I thought those uptown funk guys did some nice dancing.
Apparently I am a misogynist because I didn't like Beyonce's twerking.

One-fifth of this occupation has a serious drinking problem
The answer will not surprise you.
In my experience, I think 20% is pretty low and certainly a lot lower than it used to be.
I don't know. I remember a ton of drinking in olden times, but not so much drinking problems. In fact, there was an awful lot of people who could drink quite heavily all the time and still be responsible adults contributing value to the community. And they managed to do so without ever abdicating responsibility for their own actions. In my family, everyone but my father would've been considered an "alcoholic" by today's standards, yet the times when somebody got drunk and acted outrageously were few enough I could count them on one hand, and even when they did nobody come back afterwards saying oh it's the drink that made me do it... In fact, most problems about it were caused by my father, who was a unitarian teetotalitarianist prig that was constantly making an issue of someone drinking liquor, or drinking coffee, or tea, or using sugar or salt or excessive spices in food.
And here I thought their chosen vice was cocaine.
It is, but they can't talk about that. Drinking problems get sympathy, cocaine problems don't.
Will I believe what happens next?
One fifth is a gross exaggeration.
None of the lawyers I know have a drinking problem. Every one of them drinks all day every day with no problem at all. I am convinced that my favorite lawyer has a permanent physical deformity that looks exactly like a highball in his right hand.
As I said before, this entire country used to be run by high-functioning alcoholics.
"It's a fact that will never be broken,
it's a truth that cannot be undone.
If I don't have one at eleven,
I shall need eleven at one."
- English saying
(I don't think I have the first line quite right.)
None of the lawyers I know have a drinking problem. Every one of them drinks all day every day with no problem at all.
Clearly I picked the wrong profession...
If I hadn't quit working in restaurants I'd probably be dead by now from alcohol poisoning. No sarc.
Yeah when I bartended I was one of the few non alcoholics.
I have a lawyer friend who keeps a spare suit in his office because he regularly spills liquor. That's a drinking problem.
Damn right. A pint maybe, but not a fifth.
There was always a lot of drinking going on in chambers, I remember, but the advocates rarely exhibitted any clear signs of trouble with booze. I remember a couple that always seemed drunk as you please, but turned out they barley ever drank. I don't know if it was braindamage or what. Judges, on the other hand, every one I've known well enough was definitely alcoholic (except maybe some municipal justices of peace) and a lot of really fucked up calls or cases of outrageous behaviour in court were clearly facilitated by lots of liquor. I remember two of them that did really well running a business on the side for treating people with alcoholism. The client?le was made up entirely of people who got in court and agreed to go take treatment there. They were both years later cited for drunkdriving. One was retired already, but the other ended up losing his job over it.
Not at all - how's the old joke go? "I passed the bar in xx, and haven't passed one since"?
Well, when you have Jack Daniels and other whiskeys on hand for your clients?
change the message all you want; in the end, your messenger is still Hillary, no matter how many reinventions are tried.
Call it whatever you want. When you open the outhouse door, it still smells like shit inside.
President Barack Obama wants $1.8 billion to help fight and develop a vaccine for the Zika virus, but also doesn't want people to panic over it.
Does he want us to wait about 11 months before we panic, or is "panicking" defined as demanding the FDA speed up the damn drug-approval process so we can maybe get a vaccine some time this century?
So I was listening to Progressive Radio's Stephanie Miller this morning while driving around. I do so from time to time just to hear what they're thinking. Anyway, her producer said that North Korea had just fir per a ballistic missile. And the host said "Herro! Oh, we fire grobar nucrear missre. We best Korea!" In an extremely exaggerated accent.
I'm wondering what the reaction from the l ft would have been if Glenn Beck had done the same thing. Because it was over the top mocking of their language. The kind of shit the leftists tend to go bonkers over.
First off, leftists don't think. They feel. And of course you should not be surprised because principals trump principles. The mocking is not the issue. Who does the mocking is the only thing that matters.
What a piece of shit. Even notice how when the mask comes off Progressives are always revealed to be horrible hateful people? Every single time.
Think they've got get-out-of-jail card for this one via Team America.
I tried to think so but their whole thing is "racism and mocking other cultures is NEVER acceptable."
Sorry. They made this bed and theyre gonna have to lie in it.
It's acceptable when they do it. Come one. It's called being tolerant and inclusive in the name of equality.
Oh my God, I hate Stephanie Miller! She's like a shittier John Stewart.
She's also the daughter of William Miller, Barry Goldwater's running mate. That apple fell pretty far from the tree.
Seems Goldwater chose William Miller because LBJ hated him. So I assume that Stephanie is a big LBJ fan?
President Barack Obama wants $1.8 billion to help fight and develop a vaccine for the Zika virus, but also doesn't want people to panic over it.
Meh. $1.8 billion is a drop in the bucket.
India's government has banned a Facebook plan to help low-income residents gain access to the Internet for free because it limits access to some sites and not to others and therefore violates the concept of "net neutrality."
Suck it, Zuckerberg.
There are no good guys in that story. Zuckerberg's a tool, and the Indian government is being ridiculous
Savage Steve Holland planning sequel!
Unfortunately it'll suck and ruin the original.
As someone who has defended Cam Newton, my God did he prove hit critics right. Sorry but you can't run around and bring attention to yourself and talk trash when you are winning and then refuse to talk to the media and man up to things when you lose. It doesn't work that way.
Moreover, as the MVP and franchise QB, you are supposed to be a team leader. No one on the Panthers wanted to talk to the media after losing the Super Bowl. An actual team leader would have stood up and shouldered the responsibility for the loss and taken the media attention so the rest of the team didn't have to do so instead of being a petulant child and leaving it to everyone else to explain why you gagged the biggest game of the year.
Fuck him.
I'm Patriot hater, but after watching Superman Cam's adventures against that D, one realizes how good Tom Brady was to stand in a pocket with way patchier O-line falling apart around him and keep trying way he did in AFC title game.
I think New England, Denver and KC all three would have won the NFC. God did the NFC suck this year.
so the Cardinals and Seahawks sucked? It's more than just the East, you know.
They both got smoked by the Panthers who were clearly not as good as Denver and likely the other two teams.
Dude, Denver got one score off a fumble near the goal line and another on a seven-yard drive. Broncos defense showed up, no doubt, but that many turnovers, drops, bad throws, and penalties does not help.
Those things happened because the Panthers were completely unprepared for Denver's speed and overall athleticism on defense. They were just not nearly as good of a team as Denver.
14 points came from a fumble that rolled into the end zone and a drive that started inside the ten. That's a long way from "not nearly as good." Denver played well and earned its win. And defensively, the Panthers pretty well stopped the Broncos. Denver just made Carolina mistakes count whereas the opposite was not true.
I was amazed, after all the talk the past two weeks of Newton's dual-threat ability, that the Carolina game plan seemed so focused on passes and handoffs, with almost no called plays for Newton to run. He was obviously a bit over-pumped (or nervous) early and was sailing his passes. You would think a few called runs would have gotten him into the game better and allowed him to relax and use his talent.
And when he did run, he did pretty damn well. But, let's not do any more of that, let's just keep handing off to our average running-back instead, and then overthrow your covered receivers on third down.
Denver was totally focused on the inside of the defense and stopping Newton. As a result, they had virtually no defense on the edge. Carolina could have run the outside option all day. Yet, they only ran it once all game and continued to run inside even though the one option they did run resulted in a 15 yard gain.
I am amazed at how stupid and bull headed NFL coaches are. They should have optioned the edge until Denver gave up and started defending it. That would have then opened up the rest of their offense. But they just refused to do it.
You nailed it. The coaching staff of Carolina is to blame. They needed to adjust. They needed more options (the one they ran worked well), roll outs, quick crossing patterns, screens, etc to throw off the Denver rush. But NOOOOOOOO, they had to stick to their game plan.
I think if they play 10 times, the Panthers win 6 or 7 times. Everything went wrong for Carolina yesterday. With that said, the Broncos defense was fantastic and they definitely deserved to win.
BiMon,
I don't see how Carolina could have been that good and gone 15-1 and then choked that badly. I think they likely were not that good and only went 15-1 because the NFC was so weak.
John,
it's not complicated: the fumble that was recovered for a score, two others in Denver territory - including one after Tolbert picked up a first down, dropped passes like the one early to Cotchery that led to the review and preceded the fumble score, errant throws, and untimely penalties.
That's a lot of mistakes, especially against a good team, and the first and last fumbles went for a defensive score and the final Denver drive from inside the Carolina ten. You're not going to beat Jacksonville playing that way, let alone a team that makes you pay.
I think you're omitting the fact that the fumble recovered for a TD was caused by a Denver strip, it wasn't just luck or a bad bounce. All props to Miller on those strips he did, he was a beast yesterday.
I'm not saying it was luck at all; I'm saying it was a turnover that mattered, one that Carolina paid for, just like the last fumble. Peyton had a fumble and through an INT, but the Panthers were not able to similarly capitalize. Miller is the real deal and I'm not complaining about the outcome, just the implication that Carolina is over-rated.
"through" = threw
I was amazed by that Von Miller play, but it never happens if the replay booth doesn't screw up the call two plays earlier. Or if the WR just catches the damn ball.
and in a game like that, it's the little things. The ball was right there and 9 times out of 10, Cotchery makes the grab. This was the 10th time. Self-inflicted wounds against good teams often become fatal.
I think Cotchery did make the grab, it was just very difficult to see that he did.
For what its worth, Carolina did play strongest teams in NFC (Cards and Chickens) twice this year, and won all four contests. Letting Falcons hang one on them was kinda inexplicable.
They had taken Atlanta apart two weeks before
According to DVOA they were not as good as their record. That being said, I think every top team had a flaw this year. I thought the NFC had the three best teams (CAR/AZ/SEA), but all were beatable by any of the other top teams.
I thought the same thing after the first turnover, but after the 4th (5th?) you have to start thinking maybe the Broncos Defense has something to do with it.
And that fumble should not have been near the goal line because the refs blew that bobbled catch on the field and on replay two plays before.
KC's (very small) consolation prize: beating the Broncos twice this year.
KC only beat the Broncos once. They lost their first game to the Broncos.
Duh, yeah I got myself confused.
They only did it once. Their problem was giving up home field and having bad luck with both Houston and Halli getting injured at the end of the year.
KC has won 32 games in three years and have one of the younger teams in the league and 30 million in cap space. They will be a contender next year.
Heck, even our mediocre local guys, the not-likely-to-be-in-Oakland-much-longer Oakland Raiders, beat the Broncos this season in Denver.
Think that's game where Osweiler's bouquet as the starter wore off. Just standing there slack-jawed getting smacked around by the Raiders, at home, is a sin within the franchise.
Denver's offensive right tackle got used up against Oakland.
that was embarrassing. Luke Kuechly, meanwhile, was professionalism personified. THAT is how you handle the aftermath of a loss. And Rivera, too.
Yeah, he definitely blew it. I imagine if I got blasted that bad I would have a hard time talking to the media- and we've all seen various players (including Mr Manning) act sullen and depressed after a key loss. But when you are paid the big bucks, sometimes you need to do more than just have fun out there. You gotta earn that pay when the times get tough, not just when you are rolling.
The good news is he is 26. Hopefully this serving of crow will get him to straighten up a bit. As a Broncos fan, I was glad to see him lose. That said, I hope to see him straighten out his image, because I actually have a lot of fun watching the Panthers play.
So culture wars. Isn't gun control a culture war issue too? Must be hard on Reason writers.
So Hyperion and Zeb talk about how there aren't any liberals around anymore. If you look at the history of the Democratic party then haven't been particularly classically liberal since William Jennings Bryan's time.
Completely off topic because no one I know would have a clue what I am talking about:
I have a Ruger Blackhawk in 45 LC. A machinist made two additional cylinders for it, one chambered in 45 ACP and one in 45 winchester magnum.
I only have 150 pieces of brass for the obscure 45 WM and have had them for many years but never loaded them. Today I loaded them and test fired two different loads: 24 grains of W296 with a cast 255 SWC and 27 grains of H110 behind a Hornady 230 grain XTP.
Holeeeeey shit. Both test fires left freakin' craters in my yard. A 44 mag has nothing on that bad boy. Nice. I have to get more brass.
Disclaimer: Don't use my loads. Get your own from an official load manual or subscribe to loaddata.com
Talk about pushing the upper limits. Sheesh.
Yeah, that is the upper limit, but I spent the day working up to those loads from the minimums. The primers are a little flat on the surface but still have nice definition and no split necks. They give a very satisfying thump and a softball sized fireball.
Ever heard of a CZ-52? Saw one for sale a few months ago. After doing some research on it I really wanted to buy it. It is supposed to be really fucking loud with a really fucking big fireball. The ammo is somewhat obscure (7.62?25mm Tokarev), but surprisingly not that expensive. Priorities are a bitch though, so I let it go.
yes I have, but until recently I was not a fan of 30/32 caliber pistols. Isnt that the one modeled after the baby browning? They do make a special noise alright. It feels like a damned nail in your ear. It is the caliber and the wavelength produced by the bore diameter.
Try shooting a pistol in 30 carbine. 30 carbine is a useless rifle cartridge but shines as a pistol cartridge, except the for the most awful crack you have ever heard. I have a 32 mag that is like that too. I think the 7.62 x 25 is about the equivalent of the 30 carbine.
Also, you need to work on your priorities. If that is an original pistol it will be worth 5x what you paid for it in a decade. You can always get at least your money back out of guns, most of the time more. I have guns a paid reasonable prices for back in the day that are now worth a damned fortune. It hurt to pay for them when I was poor, but it was worth eating beans for a month. I just can't bring myself to part with them now.
I just can't bring myself to part with them now.
That's the thing. I get attached to things like that. It isn't an investment unless you are willing to part with it.
Also, you need to work on your priorities.
I understand what you are saying, but everyone's situation is different. I found myself in a hole of debt about ten years ago, and have been working to get out ever since. Following David Ramsey's advice, I saved up an emergency fund and have been chipping away on debt. Instead of a credit card I use the fund when necessary. When it gets low I put all extra money into it. When it is full I put everything extra towards the smallest debt. That way the hole doesn't get any deeper. I'm on the cusp of starting my debt snowball (taking the payment on the debt that was paid off, and adding it to the payment for the next smallest debt), and when it starts rolling it is going to be awesome. Any unnecessary purchases stand in the way of that. May as well start digging again. But once the ball rolls down the hill, and takes out that forest of debt, I'll have money for guns. But in the mean time... priorities.
I was teasing. The joke being in a choice between a new gun and food, always get the gun.
I learned my lesson on debt early in life, thankfully. Everything I buy now I buy outright, no borrowing. Everything I have is paid for; house, cars, guns, cameras...everything. I can comfortably pay my bills and still save a bit every month. I have built a nice cushion and can still buy a gun now and then.
I wish you success in killing off your debt.
Thank you.
If it helps alleviate your sadz, CZ-52's aren't really rare, and they're not exactly the kind of gun that everyone's fighting each other to get, so you'll get another chance in the future. They have a reputation for the firing pin breaking (no, dry-firing is not recommended, and because of ammo), and the decockers on them have an unsavory reputation.
The ammo issue with Tokarev (like 9mm Para) is that it's manufactured for pistols and SMGs. A lot of the surplus Tok that you see for sale is actually SMG ammo, with correspondingly harder primers and more powder. Hence the monster fireball and the wicked felt recoil. If you reload, of course, you can use the brass and work up a handgun-friendly load.
The upside is that they're damn solid, they're accurate, and the roller bolt lockup gives a really tight mechanism. Parts are available if you need barrels etc.
Sounds Dicey. Be safe.
I so desperately wanted the Ruger Vaquero with Birds Head grip with the .45 acp cylinder, because only Bill Gates can afford to shoot LC.
? I've never noticed LC being too expensive.
Huh, you're right... either I'm confused or prices have dropped. I seem to remember 45 LC being considerably more than .45 acp.
Whut?
Dude, get a press, buy your brass from midway and cast your own bullets. I have about 2000 LCs loaded and ready to go. Nothing is more fun to shoot.
Also, you can tailor your loads. The 45 LC can be loaded to near 44 mag ballistics or way down for target shooting. I prefer loading it with my cast 230 grain RNs (designed for the ACP) because they shoot much faster and flatter than the usual 255s made for the LC.
Oddly, the 45 ACP cylinder for my blackhawk is one of the most accurate pistols I have. Usually that isnt the case when you have a cylinder that is too long for the case. The bullet has to rattle down the cylinder too far before hitting the forcing cone and usually doesnt enter the barrel straight. The most notorious of these is the 9mm cylinder for the 357 pistols. Of course in addition to having too far to go down the cylinder the 9mm bullets are a couple thousandths too small for the barrel so you get : bang! rattle rattle clunk, then the bullet just goes somewhere in the general direction of your target.
I really have to bite the bullet and start reloading.
I'm a 9mm, 308 and .38 special guy - and I've been telling myself that the only reason I might have to justify getting into reloading is if I was to start shooting a lot of expensive calibers, but I'm starting to find that I'm getting good enough to know that part of the reason for my lousy groupings are that cheap ammo really isn't good value.
That, and I've been coveting a Blackhawk too.
Confused. If your gun can handle the Win Mag, why not just load your LC brass to Win Mag specs?
Not sure you want to reuse that brass.
45 LC brass is much weaker than the Mag brass. It can't handle the pressure. You can load the LCs up much hotter than factory ammo, which is made for older weaker pistols, but you aren't going to get 1600 - 1800 fps out of it.
So did anyone else see the gerald friedman analysis of berns proposals on cnn money? The comments are full of derp
Yep, posted as an OT in another thread by yours truly.
Oh yea...can you repost it? I dont know how to do the quote thing

How? Magic?
I am guessing that $22k/year in employer health insurance becomes $22k/year in income.
And then you give it to the government in the form of higher taxes so they can provide health care.
Very likely.
Then you take 25% of that 22k off because its now taxable.
Then you spend the rest on health insurance - but now only have 17k to buy insurance with.
Then, *maybe*, in 10 years - assuming the impossible, that the markets aren't screwed with more because of the 'I can't afford as much health care as I used to be able to' - market discipline brings insurance prices down.
Maybe he'll pull off the massive wage increases through hyperinflation.
Has anyone found a good rebuttal? A few people I know should see one. They don't listen to me and my generic money isn't wealth, money isn't a fixed pie "bullshit"
They don't listen to me and my generic money isn't wealth, money isn't a fixed pie "bullshit"
Then they believe in magic and will not be dissuaded by anything "ideological" like facts or economics.
Why bother?
I don't know. I shouldn't go on social media. Maybe I'm a masochist?
It's all about intentions and emotions. Those people who don't listen to you care only about intentions. Bernie intends to use force of government, and the very real threats of violence behind that force, to stick it to the rich and help the little guy. He's going to punish those rich people for what they have stolen from the poor (never mind that the poor, by definition, have nothing for the rich to steal).
You intend to allow the rich to stay rich! Worse than that, you intend for the rich to get even richer off the backs of the poor! You are licking the boot that holds you down! Those rich people are stealing from you! Every time you voluntarily buy a product from a rich person or voluntarily work for a rich person, they are stealing from you because profit is theft (while taxes are not)!
It's all emotion. You may be able to get a lone leftist to calm down (they must calm down between bringing up the subject and having a rational conversation, because their initial reaction will be to go into an emotional state) and use their heads, but all will be forgotten the next day. It must be forgotten. Else they risk being shunned.
Sarc, that might be the most depressing thing I've read today.
Bravo.
Sorry. And thanks. I guess.
Anybody hungry? Here's a UUUUUUUUUUGE word salad for you.
ha. I clicked to see who wrote it, and that was enough.
Gah.
Pass.

At a Republican meeting attended by Blaine, a group of New York preachers castigated the Mugwumps. Their spokesman, Reverend Dr. Samuel Burchard, made this fatal statement: "We are Republicans, and don't propose to leave our party and identify ourselves with the party whose antecedents have been rum, Romanism, and rebellion."
Also the Democrats at the time also stood for segregationism.
I don't know, 2 out of three ain't bad!
Although personally I prefer:
Whisky, Wotanism and Willfullness
Whiskey, Wu-Tangism, and Wantonness.
Whisky, Wesleyan, and World Cup (rugby)
Oh and anyone visited Harpweek? I've seen quite a few Thomas Nast cartoons. When he wasn't attacking the CSA, the KKK and Tammany Hall we was busy attacking Irish Americans (who were Democrats) and Roman Catholics.

Albright at Clinton Rally: 'Special Place in Hell for Women Who Don't Help Each Other'
It's special places in hell all the way down!
So, all those women who jumped to criticize Sarah Palin, Condi Rice, et al must be due for a really special place in hell.
They were Republicans so they don't count.
"What if the cure for cancer is trapped inside the mind of person who can't afford and education?"
-Bernie Supporter on my FB page. So I asked, "What if the person who has the cure for cancer in their mind has most of their money taken?". Response, "Why would I want to take anyone's money?". Bernie's fans. SMH.
That really is dumb. If they had a cure for cancer, why do they need an education? And can't one go to state schools via loans?
Sounds like a comment that is ripe for someone to come in and flame the place with a skillfully placed abortion zinger
Nice
What if the cure for cancer is trapped inside the mind of a lazy person who has a guaranteed minimum income?
Got introduced to Blind Guardian today. They have a pretty dramatic metal sound. The Curse of Feanor, for your listening pleasure. \m/

I like it!
So why do progs/keynesians think the New Deal and or stimulus package was a success other than the whole love of more govt thing? From where i am sitting the New Deal and things like the stimulus package didn't do much of anything (unless you were connected of course)

Free markets allow selfish people to get rich off of furnishing goods and services that people want and need, and that is bad because the people who are getting rich have bad intentions (they just want to get rich).
The New Deal and other stimulus programs allow selfless people to get rich off furnishing good and services that people neither want nor need, and that is good because the people who are getting rich have good intentions (they know what is best for people).
Don't worry, Bernie is going to solve all our economic growth issues: http://money.cnn.com/2016/02/0.....index.html
I haven't seen such a benign, wonky article make the rounds on social media like this since ever.
The debate is now shut down, at least you'd come to think that if you read the FB derp I've seen over it. Asking how these job number estimates will be any different from the projected vs actual jobs that the Stimulus created is tough to get an answer to.
The only rebuttal needed is to hold up every country that ever tried socialism and every commie pinko piece of shit that spouted the exact same rhetoric and show was lies down that road.
People in Venezuela have no clean water to drink, spend all day trying to find enough to eat and have to beg foreigners for basic medications. The Soviets made jokes about socialism causing a shortage of sand in North Africa. All of the socialist-lite countries in Europe are circling ever closer to the drain every day with some already near failed-state status. Despite China's success via capitalism it remains a totalitarian shithole and human rights nightmare. The list goes on and on and on...
The fact that a sitting US senator can openly declare himself a socialist and not be gibbeted by the voters in his district makes me want to scream. What kind of goddamned fucking idiots vote for someone like that?
An idiot who is blinded by good intentions.
Don't forget he advocated restructuring the Federal Reserve along fascist lines?
No, no, no, no, No NO! What he advocated had good intentions! Fascists have bad intentions! It's like totally different and stuff!
The only rebuttal needed is to hold up every country that ever tried socialism and every commie pinko piece of shit that spouted the exact same rhetoric and show was lies down that road.
Doesn't work like that. The road is paved with good intentions. The good intentions blind many people from the fact that the road leads to hell. How could it? It is paved with good intentions. It couldn't possibly lead to hell. That's where bad intentions lead.
Bloomberg's winning scenario is not to run as an independent nor to buy a minor party's nomination. Rather:
The Donald has an overwhelming majority of delegates, but declines. "You guys thought I was serious about running for president?" His delegates, pissed off at him, ignore his endorsement of whomever, & pissed off at all the other major remaining contenders, nominate Rand.
Hillary drops dead; flees to Arabia, Austria, or N. Korea; or gets indicted, jailed, has her assets seized, can't make bail, & Bill won't put up bail but runs off w an intern. Bernie doesn't have a majority of delegates. The convention nominates Mike.
The voters say of Rand, he must be some kind of ideolog, yuck, & of an ideology we don't even recognize, double yuck. Mike? He's rich like The Donald, so he must know something; he does financial nx, so he'll make the stocks go up.
I think you should set it to music!
I don't know if anybody's already posted this, but it looks like the FBI is investigating Hillary.
Letter from FBI to State acknowledges it is "working on matters related" to Clinton's use of a private email server.

This was Denver in the 80s and early 90s...I BEEN THERE MAN! I seen things. CRAZY things.
but now:
BRONCOS WON THE SUPERBOWL!
BRONCOS WON THE SUPERBOWL!
BRONCOS WON THE SUPERBOWL!
BRONCOS WON THE SUPERBOWL!
BRONCOS WON THE SUPERBOWL!
The Hail Mary debacle and the Gary Andersen Wide Left NFC championship games were worse than the SB losses.
I remember how I felt when my team won....
....the Super Bowl? Nope. Never even played in one. The Drive, Fumble, Red Right 88.
...the World Series? Nope. But blew a one run lead in the 9th inning of the 7th game.
...the NBA Championship? Nope. But got kicked around by guys that know how to play the game.
"The valiant never taste of death but once"
The Bard never visited Cleveland.
I remember giant drunken brawls with the police when Pittsburgh won the SB.
Still have #27 Atwater jersey from decades ago. Word.
I want to slap the radio whenever I hear the NPR Voice. The men sound like castrati who uptalk. That plus the dipshit bleepy toodley "music" they have to cue every half minute or so.
Why do I listen? Because my wife turns on NPR every time we drive somewhere and I restrain myself to ensure domestic tranquility.
Dude, no marriage is worth that.
I end up listening to NPR a lot while driving because I end up switching to it when all the other stations are playing commercials. When the subject isn't politics, economics, or the environment, their coverage can actually be quite good at times. At other times I want to reach through the radio and wring their smug necks.
Sometimes I listen to Diane Riems, because I swear one of these days she is going to just expire live on the air, leaving the lefty-of-the-day Skyped in to slowly figure it out. Will be awesome when it happens.
SIRIUS/XM!
I drive over an hour each way to work 4 days a week, and this has saved my sanity.
You should check into to the many excellent podcasts that are available on just about any topic.
I've pretty much quit listening to the radio.
I listen to a lot of college radio while I'm driving. Get to hear a lot of good music (and a lot of dog shit) that doesn't get on the major stations.
I drive probably 25-30 hours a week. It's really saved me as well.
I've been listening to Stamd Up on the Insight channel a fair bit lately since Welch is on there from time to time.
Tundra, how do you feel about Scott Norwood?
Zeitgeist, I agree about Diane Rehm. If there is a Broadcaster Dead Pool, she should be in it.
I was a Buffalonian through that era. I couldn't have cared less but my fellow residents... whoo boy.
