Every month University of Alabama in Huntsville climatologists John Christy and Roy Spencer publish the latest global temperature trend data obtained from NOAA satellites. For the month of November 2015 they report:
As expected, the El Niño Pacific Ocean warming event continued to push temperatures to record highs in November, although the monthly anomaly in the Northern Hemisphere dropped from October to November, said Dr. John Christy, director of the Earth System Science Center at The University of Alabama in Huntsville. "The Northern Hemisphere cooled a bit in November, leading to a small drop in global temperatures. The tropical Pacific Ocean is still very warm, with much above normal quantities of heat that likely will be transferred to the atmosphere in the coming months."
In comparing the 1997-1998 El Niño to the current event, Christy noted that while the tropics were cooler in November 1997 than they are now (+0.34 to +0.53 C), "the tropics warmed to +1.28 C by February 1998 during that big El Niño." While this doesn't mean the current El Niño will necessarily follow the same warming pattern over the next four months, it is a point from history to remember, Christy said.
Despite the cooling in the Northern Hemisphere, globally November 2015 was the warmest November in the 37-year satellite temperature dataset, with a temperature that was 0.05 C warmer than November 2009. It was also the warmest November in both the Northern Hemisphere and the tropics.

The good news is that the pointless bloviating in Paris is keeping a bunch of politicians from doing anything else. In a way, it's kind of a shame there aren't more of these meetings.
Welcome to Retardation: A Celebration. Now, hopefully, I'm gonna dispel a few myths, a few rumors. First off, the retarded don't rule the night. They don't rule it. Nobody does. And they don't run in packs. And while they may not be as strong as apes, don't lock eyes with 'em, don't do it. Puts 'em on edge. They might go into berzerker mode; come at you like a whirling dervish, all fists and elbows. You might be screaming "No, no, no" and all they hear is "Who wants cake?" Let me tell you something: They all do. They all want cake.
Hey joe, are you concerned that when the seas rise, you might drown because the amount of the rise is taller than you? Do you have a life jacket or anything, just in case?
Tell us about the fracking study where it caused earthquakes! (that no one could feel).
Yep, temps are going up, at about the rate of continental shift...
The IPCC model predicted an average rate of INCREASE of 0.74?C by 2015. It was a measly 0.24?C during the last decade, and just about 0.33?C. That's less than HALF, for your mathematically-challenged mind, of what was predicted back in 1990. That is why the East Anglia scam artists were worrying (according to their emails) because they could not explain this "pause".

Hey, a greater growing season.
"What? Are you crazy? We need lower temperatures! How can you talk about growing food when we could have a much-curtailed skiing season?" /East Coast Proggie.
This year has been truly amazing. I live in Texas. All our lakes filled up. Watering was practically unnecessary for most the spring and fall due to the regular rain fall. Our over 100 degree days were so rare I can't even recall them. We've moved strongly into the winter and our weather is continuing to be mild and wet. I'd start sacrificing infants on the blood moon if we could have weather like this every year.
Amen! My foundation is almost aligned again! Of course, the weather is going to revert to hot and dry again next year, because it's Texas. I hope that we get one more mild summer, because I'm outta here in a year!
Yeah, same here in St. Louis. Mild Summer, no days over 100. Heck, even the spring was nice, it's not unusual to use the AC in May or even late April, but not this year until June.
And now it's been mild in Nov and December. Usually this time of year it starts getting damned cold.
I blame Trump's inflamed rhetoric!
El Nino is clearly caused by AGW. Clearly.
You damned, dirty AGW!!!
/Charlton Heston
We must ban the immigration of all heat! [problem solved]
It's our right as the collective property owners to choose what heat we allow in!
First, we have to deport all of the heat within our borders. Heat can cause burns!
We can institute a test to see if the heat is really heat or not! That's how we'll keep unwanted heat out!
Brilliant! We'll use pork bacon as the test. If it fries, it's heat!
Let's start setting up the camps!
I only want Christian heat.
It burns!
Deport the heat back to the sun!
Record highs. The length of the record being 30 years. Oy vey, I can't even believe I'm reading this utter stupidity.
The important thing is
WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE UNLESS WE ADDRESS THIS RIGHT NOW, WHILE EVERYONE'S IN PARIS!!!1111!
YOU DENY SCIENCE
Three times before the cock crows.
I DENY NOTHING
Well, except my essence. To your mom. Sometimes.
You have the right to preserve your race. But it's well known that the Eye-talians are the un-intellectual puppets of Reason.
Vafanapoli!
You respond to a Star Trek quote with a Friends one? How dare you.
Why hasn't this El Ni?o thingy been banned yet? It's obstructionthuglicans, isn't it?
If only we had enough taxes on carbon, El Nino could be contained.
Well El Nino comes from East Asia, and nobody wants to ban immigration from there (yet).
Can't we at least start by banning the Pacific Ocean? Isn't that a reasonable starting point?
I guess all the heat that's been hiding in the deep ocean is coming out now. So there, deniers!!11!!!!
I think that's likely to contribute to temperature extremes on the new Pangea. But what do I know, I'm just a STEM guy, not a real scientist.
Obstruglican teahadi rethuglicans.
The good news is that the pointless bloviating in Paris is keeping a bunch of politicians from doing anything else. In a way, it's kind of a shame there aren't more of these meetings.
But they're eating steak and I'm not!!!
*right now.
I'll most certainly have a flat iron and garlic mash for lunch.
The real shame is that those shootings in Paris didn't happen a few weeks later.
The Secret Service really takes pride in....
Oh, I just can't.
Hookers and blow?
And this was supposedly the decade of the pause. Guess not.
By the way, Ronald, you may want to inform your headline writers and commenters there hasn't been a 100 year El Ni?o.

El Ninos always cause spikes. But I guess we are back to weather is climate, now?
You know that "pause" you were so fond of? That existed in your mind because you selectively started keeping track in 1998.
And what is significant about 1998? It was the year of not just an El Ni?o, but the year of the El Ni?o of the century.
So I will make this easy for you. Just measure El Ni?o to El Ni?o. And in fact do it for every El Ni?o in the past 100 years.
Guess what? Temps are going up.
joe fervently believes that rising temperatures will mean everyone gets taller. So he's really invested in this idea.
Uh-huh.
"Guess what? Temps are going up."
Tell us about the fracking study where it caused earthquakes! (that no one could feel).

"You know that "pause" you were so fond of?"
BTW, Jack, you know those "oil subsidies" you're so fond of? WHAT SUBSIDIES, Jack. Let's see them.
And what is significant about 1998? It was the year of not just an El Ni?o, but the year of the El Ni?o of the century.
That's some good science, Jack.
Just historical data, RC. Easy to graph as well.

The red bars. And when they plot the current El Ni?o it will be even higher.
You know that "pause" you were so fond of?
The pause that we are currently still in? And I'm not too fond of it. The world is too cold.
Look, it is an established fact that in 2009, the moment came when the seas began to recede. Do you deny the power of the Lightworker?
Re: Jackass Ass,
Jackass doesn't know averages.
If warming meant higher sea levels, coastal real estate would be in trouble. Look at the Market. It isn't.
I, for one, am done giving a fuck. I'm just gonna sit back and see what happens. This isn't my world anymore.
And guess who shows up right on time.
Has anyone seen Florida Man?
I heard that he was eaten by Lizard's cousin.
Mr. Lizard's cousin:

Another third of a degree ?
Off with the heads of the vile carbonari !

I'm going to Science-Splain this stuff to you civilians:
1. If it's a heat event, it's climate.
2. If it's a cold event, it's weather.
3. Reduced numbers of major weather events like hurricanes mean that major weather events are more common.
Close, but not quite. If the weather doesn't fit the narrative, then it's just weather. If it does fit the narrative, then it's a climate event.
Warm IS the narrative, silly boy. Cold was soooooo 1970.
