Seven years ago, the Student Federation at the University of Ottawa asked Jennifer Scharf to provide a free weekly yoga class. The class is still going strong, but officials with the federation are pulling the plug on it because of "cultural issues." Scharf says they told her they worried about cultural appropriation. She says she offered to change the name of the class to "mindful stretching" in order to avoid offending anyone but that led to a disagreement on how that should be translated into French, so the group just decided to drop the class.

Who do these people think they are appropriating the name of the Ottawa Indian tribe? And isn't the whole concept of a university system appropriating Italian culture? I sure hope they weren't using English when they communicated with her - the English language is nothing but cultural appropriation. Did they use any Arabic numbers in their missive? Was it written on Chinese-invented paper using India ink or did they use some American-invented technology in a Japanese computer built in South Korea to transmit it? And what do these people eat and drink that wasn't first developed by some other culture?
