Indian Outlaw
Officials at Utah's Arrowhead Elementary School told the parents of Jakobe Sanden, 7, that his Mohawk haircut would have to go. They called it a distraction. But the Sandens, who are Indians, claimed it was part of their cultural heritage. After getting a letter backing the Sandens up from their tribal leadership, the school relented. Presumably, however, Mohawks worn by students who are not Indians will still be distracting.
